WAP 321 disconnecting all associated clients

Hi Support,
I am a newbie technical support. Currently, I encountered a issue about WAP321 that will occasionally disconnecting all the clients(about 7 clients only) in one shot and cannot connect back at all. However, after login to the Web Gui and reboot the WAP321. It is able to connect again.
I had upgrade the firmware to 1.0.4.2 but the problem still exists. The AP is using only WPA2-Personal.
The environment of the AP is like this:
Internet->Watchguard Firewall (with AP too but different SSID with the WAP321, flat vlan) ->switches and WAP321
Is that any misconfiguration of the AP or the network environment cause this issue?
Another problem is the time of the AP cannot be fixed. I had tried either set the time using NTP (port 123 is opened in firewall) or manually input but it will revert back to 1999 after reboot.
Thanks in advanced!

  • Disconnecting an accociated client

I am supporting a small cluster of AP541N WAPs and would like to know if there is an easy way to manually disconnect an associated client (recognized by MAC address) from the Associated Clients screen in the Access Point Configuration Utility Status view. That type of feature might come in handy with unruly bandwidth hogs down the road.
    Thanks!

Sorry Ben, but without ARD, SSH, or VNC, I can't think of anything that doesn't involve cutting power to the building hosting the client computer.

  • Client cannot associate to WAP 321.

    Dear Support Team
I have purchased, cisco wap 321 2 days back and configured it. Problems I am facing are
    1. Clients are not able to connect to it. If they get connected and get an IP address from DHCP server. They have frequent disconnection.
    2. User face high latency.
I would like if cisco team can take remote and resolve the issue.
    Thanks
    Deepak Khemani

Hello Deepak, first please try disabling the Bandwidth Utilization found under the wireless tab. If that does not resolve your problem the best thing would be to call in and open a case. At that point then one of our engineers can remote into your system and see what is going on.

  • WAP 321 best practice

    Hi
I've got 4 AP placed in the corners of the house.
I would like to provide the best possibilities of roaming users which will be moved in the building.
What kind of parameters I can change to set sensivity of reconnection user to another AP ?
Many times I saw that device works with AP with weak signal when available is another with much stronger signal.
Is any way to change moment when device will be reconnected ?
Is this process related to OS of the device ?
Generaly to avoid interference AP in neighborhood should work on different channels 1 6 11.
To configure WDS all AP should work on the same channel. Why ?
Is WAP 321 is salt water resist ?
Could it be install on boat ?
Of course inside of cabin but I can imagine that salty fog or steam available around can be dangerus.
Please advice if I can use this model or should chose differrent ?
    Best regards
    Darek

    Hello Dariusz,
What kind of parameters I can change to set sensivity of reconnection user to another AP ?
Generally, the clients control which AP they want to connect at any given point of time. If you are using Windows operating system, you can set the roaming mode to aggressive where the wireless interface on the device will constantly monitor the signal strength from different Access Points in the viscinity (on the same SSID) and when it finds an AP with better signal than the current one it is attached to, it will switch the association to the new AP.

Answer is included in the link below:

This is typically controlled by the Client Operating System/wireless card driver.
Generaly to avoid interference AP in neighborhood should work on different channels 1 6 11.
To configure WDS all AP should work on the same channel. Why ?
Essentially, WDS is sort of bridging/repeating across multiple Access Points without the need for a wired infrastructure to connect the access points. Since the WAP321 has a single radio interface, it cannot switch between different channels on the fly when communicating with another AP and with the clients. In order for the AP to bridge/repeat data from a neighboring access point, it has to be on the same channel as the neighboring access point and for association purposes, all other radio parameters should remain the same.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_distribution_system
If you have a wired infrastructure connecting these access points, then you can use Single Point Setup to connect these access points in a clusture and manage the channel assignment.

  • Cisco WAP 321 found bug that causes loss of config

I have been setting up a WAP 321 which has been unable to retain it's settings across reboots.
What I have found is that if I leave the Timezone set to USA (Pacific) the WAP 321 can be rebooted without losing config, but as soon as I set the timezone to United Kingdom the next reboot will cause the device to take a long time to reboot and will have then gone back to factory default setings.
To help me determine if I have a faulty unit, does any one else have one they'd be willign to set to United Kingdom timezone & reboot to see if you get the same results?

    Hi Tom,
It seems the exact same problem, described in diferent ways.
For me even if i configure a different management IP and after that reboot the system, the system take much time too boot and my laptop lan interface keeps goind "connected, disconnected, connected, disconnected..." until i turn off the access point off and turn it on again after about 10 seconds.
When it boots is in factory default settings.
When i'm configuring the access point on Safari Browser on a Mac laptop, i have no problem at all. I can change everything and reboot every time i want without losing my configurations.
The problem is only when i'm configuring on a windows laptop with IE9 or Google Chrome.
I will send you an e-mail with my CCOID, serial number of the access point and this description.
Note that this is the second Cisco WAP321 that we have received with the exact same symptom. We have returned the first one and received the second one with the same problem.
    Best regards,
    Vitor Oliveira.

  • MSE not detecting associated clients

    Hi,
    i have one MSE 7.0, one WLC 7.6.120 and CPI 2.1. the AP's are 1602i and 3702i
I had a map in CPI, showing my AP's, but i can't see associated clients, if i modify the client filter to all clients, they appear in the map, but for some reason when i modify back the filter to associated clients the followinf message appears:
there are no clients on this floor. Either you don have any MSE which locates clients or none of your MSE detected any clients on this floor.
    NMSP status is active.
    WLC and MSE are synchronyze.
    anybody knows whats the problem?
    thank you!

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
I checked your link, but in my opinion must be other problem, because sometimes i can see associated clients in CPI map, but most part of the time only shows clients when i modify the client filter to all.
NMSP protocol is up and active between MSE and WLC, service are synchronyzed.
NTP is configured in CPI, WLC and MSE, and time is the same.
In the top of the map there is a message:
Data may be delayed up to 15 minutes or more depending on background polling interval
I waited for more than 30 minutos and the associated client still not showed on the map. furthermore, in my opnion, 15 minutes is a long time to locate a client, if i have to wait 15 minutes to locate every client in my network, there is no way to make location works!

  • WAP 1142n not connecting to clients (laptops)

I have set up my WAP and RADIUS windows server 2008.
the WAP is not actually talking properly to the clients... the laptops can see the WAP but it isn't connected properly. The client won't get an IP, and has limited connectivity.
I tried changing the vLAN settings on the WAP, double checked it is on the right gateway, etc. it is very frustrating. I don't know why it won't 'talk' properly to its clients. obviously i took off Windows firewall just in case on the client.
I have also checked the RADIUS server settings again; it is all set to authenticate users and machines in the domain, has its certificate, is set to PEAP, has the WAP added as a RADIUS client.
I am not quite sure what has happened.
the switch it is on is set to DHCP leasing by the way.
    can anyone help me? thanks!

Just beat me to it Gavin   Yes, please check NPS logs for any success or failure and provide EAP failure code/description if present.
If your NPS authentication looks successful, then you need to troubleshoot why you aren't getting a DHCP address.  I presume this is an autonomous setup?  Could you provide the run-config of your AP and the AP switchport run-config?  Also the run-config of the gateway interface and the DHCP scope config.

  • Cisco WAP 321 Quality Superb Worst + RMA Slow

hi Everyone, recently i notice that the WAP 321 quality is superb worst as base on project we bought 13 units of the cisco WAP 321, out of three not even use for 1 months the unit faulty (unit cannot be power UP) but adapter power is working fine.
beside the quality issues, the RMA process also very slow, when we send the unit to distributor for RMA claim, the cisco feedback the unit need to wait until November of 2015, this ridiculous, how u imagine the unit faulty the replacement unit only can send it back to you almost in 9 months time. I really can't believe it, cisco is so worst on the RMA claim.

this is the case number, we are planning to return all the cisco ap to cisco, as our end user and us really piss off with the RMA process and quality of the cisco AP. we now waiting the feedback from the ECS which is the distributor in malaysia.

I share your pain with same Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn.  After many, many hours yesterday I am now solidly running Wireless N at 144 Mbps on a LinkSys E4200, 99% reception from 30 feet away.
Previous to yesterday I could not get 'N' to work at all.
First, if you have a newer dual frequency Router, this Intel adapter only supports 2.4ghz..
    1. I am using Access Connections 5.85, Windows 7
    2. Router: 2.4 Ghz Network Mode: Mixed
    3. On my LinkSys router Channel: Auto NEVER worked for either  'G' or 'N'.  I picked channel 4 by chance and things got better.  No further experiments.
    3. Channel Width: Auto (20mhz or 40mhz).
    4. Earlier forums indicate WPA2-P and AES must be selected.  That's what I am running.
    5. Numerous references to "power" conflicts.  Set all Power Management to Maximum Power.
(Control Panel -> Device Manager ->Network Adapters -> Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn -> Power Management)
(Access Connections -> Wireless Settings -> 4. Advanced Configuration-> Maximum Performance)
If you followed these steps, Wireless G should be working stabily for you now.
Now for the secret sauce to make Wireless N work:  go to http://communities.intel.com/message/82098#82098
See Feb 3, 2010 post How to get 5100 AGN to connect at N speed?
I am indebted to this guy.
Save the instructions!  For some reason my EDGE 14 wireless totally quit this week and that's what sent me down this wireless rabbit hole again.  At least this time I was able to make N mode work for the first time.
    Frustrated but relieved,
    Lew

  • WAP 321 NPS

    Hi,
We want to configure a Cisco WAP 321 to NPS on windows 2008.
We have this error and we do not know what is wrong. Can you help us?.
On NPS system event viewer :
An Access-Request message was recived from RADIUS client XXXXXX with a Message-Authenticatior attribute that is not valid.
We have installed other RADIUS client on Windows 2003 Server and we have the same error.
On the Web interface of Cisco WAP only can configure the IP and password of the Radius server.
    Please, can you help us?.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
go to your NPS/IAS, edit your RADIUS client configuration, clear the "Request messages must contain the Message-Authenticator attribute" checkbox and try again.

  • WAP 321 Losing connectivity

    Hi,
I installed four WAP 321 for a customer at a remote site. They are set to use a tagged VLAN 80 for management, there three additional VLANs used for SSIDs.
    They have latest firmware installed.
LAN setting has untagged VLAN unchecked, 'Green Ethernet' is enabled but I think I have tried disabling it.
Connections are to trunk ports on 3560 with native VLAN 1.
WPAs are in single-point access mode.
All seems to work, but after a period of time, I would guess about 5-6 hours, the WAPs start losing connectivity to the wired ports, I cant ping them and there is no entry on the switchport MAC address table. Sometime I see ARP entries for both VLAN 80 and VLAN 1 (not used).
The only way I can regain connectivity to these devices is to shut the switchports for a while (count to 20;-) then re-enable which I presume hard boots the device.
I haven't been able to verify yet but I suspect these devices are losing all connectivity to the wired network.
I really need a resolution for this, so any help gratefully received!
    Regards,
    Kevin.

For the sake of those that come after me .....
My WAP 321s connected for about 40 hours now so it looks like this is resolved, this looks like a bug in the 'OS/firmware - currently version 1.0.3.4
    To summarise;
In 'VLAN and IPv4 Address' settings your are advised to leave the Untagged VLAN Enabled, and leave the untagged (native) VLAN and Management VLAN as 1.  I haven't established if any one of these settings causes the problem, but certainly changing all three is likely to cause devices to hang within a working day.

  • Cisco WAP 321 causes network failure ?

    Hi everybody.
I recently bought a Cisco WAP 321 for my company, but when i connect it to the network, the switch on which I connect crashes, and I lose all connectivity to the network, (internet also). i have to unplug the WAP321 and wait for a few minutes to be able to use the network again.
I'm currently using a small 8 port switch, There are usually 3 or 4 users connected on it. When I try connecting the WAP321 on another switch, only connected to 1 computer, it seems to be working : I can access the configuration page, and make some modifications.
Has anyone had this problem already ?
    Any idea ?
Thanks everybody for your time !

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.
Could you give a little more detail about your network? What is the switch that you are connecting to? The 8 port and the other one. A network topology would be helpful as well.
    Thanks

  • DHCP issues with Cisco WAP 321

I have 4 Cisco WAP 321's in my office connected to our Cisco 2911 ISR for DHCP, everything is fine on the office wifi on vlan 1 but vlan 3 with the guest wifi network it fails to obtain an IP address. I have tried under each of the WAPs to make sure it wasnt just the one nearest my desk. I was on the phone yesterday with Cisco about this and we turned on debugging and watched the DHCP requests and no requests even hit the ISR (only thing I have smartnet support on). I noticed our firmware was a few versions old so updated that this morning but still have the same issues so now I am turning to you all to help me figure this out.
    Thanks

  • The object invoked has disconnected from its clients

    Hi
I decided to take the plunge and update our server and take it up to SP1
I updated it at weekend and it all seemed fine.
I could log in and it all seemed wonderful, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Yes.
    Err NO...
Come in this morning and I cannot remotely log in.
I go locally to the machine and try to login but get this message "The object invoked has disconnected from its clients"
I wondered if anyone has encountered this error and managed to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you able to login successfully after this error occurs?
Did you try to take the console of server?
Please try to find out the logs to see if there is any detailed error message during this issue. Also please try to login with admin account and check the result. If this can’t solve, you can try to start with safe boot mode and login into the server and try
to find some logs related to the issue.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,

  • CPI 1.2 Current Associated Clients

I'm monitoring a number of a switches in a customer environment.  I used CPI automated discovery and SNMP to load the switches into the system.
Even though I can see basic system summary and interface information for a particular switch, I'm unable to see any Client information such as 'Current Associated Clients'.
Here is one way to navigate to the area that I'm referring to:
LifeCycle Theme > Operate > Device Work Center
ALL > Pick A Switch, check the box next to it
Device Details Tab > Clients > Current Associated Clients
The CPI 1.2 documentation say sI should be able to see 'wired' client  information on this screen and lists no pre-requisites to doing so.  I can't figure out why I'm not seeing any data ('no data available') and can't find any information on how to  'deploy' this functionality or troubleshoot why it's not working.  The switch is online in 'managed' status and I know it has clients on it, this has been validated by typical CLI.
Any ideas anyone?  Thanks in advance for the help.
    Dan

    Hi, everybody!
I've begun test the CPI 1.2 and connected two 3750 switches with associated clients.
And I have the same problem as above. Switches have configured with SNMP v3.
There are no any infotmation about Current Associated Clients, ACLs and Ethernet Interfaces in Feature Configuration tab and an error message "No image information in inventory for this device" in Image tab.
    Thanks for advance!
