Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.
It looks like you pulled the bin file out of the tar file you downloaded. Please try to do the upgrade with the tar file. I believe that is what the WAP is looking for.
Let me know how that goes.
Thanks

  • Firmware Upgrade has hosed my Gateway - Massachusetts

An early morning Gateway firmware upgrade has apparently stopped a lot of Gateway's from recognizing devices. In addition, the Gateway will go offline and come online 2 dozen times in an hour. I'm getting a little frustrated with the downtime of this product. Thankfully it's only $9.99, becuase that's all it's worth.

Yikes, only thing I can think of is an Apple Store possibly being able to cure it.

  • [Zen Micro] Firmware upgrade has bloc

    Hi,
I'm upgrading my Zen Micro firmware from ..0 to 2.2.02 version right now, but it looks like the process has stuck. My processor seems not to be working, the progress bar is no more advancing and the arrows on my player are white. There's a message on the window that says "Rebooting your player. Please wait." But nothing actually happens. What should I do? If I plugged off my player, can I cause it any damage? Should I restart the upgrade? As the 'Close' button is available for clicking, I can assume the process is stoppable and its terminating shouldn't cause damages... can't I?
    Please, help me.
    Thank you for your suggestions.

And no software will acknowledge mine since I stupidly upgrade to the 2 level firmware. I've been on a three-week merry go round with email customer service...they've even had me go into the registry of my computer (yikes!) but no solution.

  • New hard drive upgrade has failed

I have a 2009 macbook pro and have upgraded the 5400 rpm Hatachi hard drive to a 7200 500 gig WD scorpio black. It's only been running for 4 months or so but has did on me last night. It will not boot up properly and appears be a failed spot on the drive. The macbook pro is only used for an hour a day, mostly stays at home and has never been dropped or abused in any way. Has anyone had trouble with these drives? I plan on grabbing another replacement drive but the WD drives are always in stock and are very popular.

Any drive of any make can die.
WD drives have been very reliable for me, and are always my first choice.
I'd chalk it up to the luck of the draw.....
A good thing to do with a new drive is to write zeros, one pass, and this will get bad sectors spared, keeping them from causing trouble right off the bat.
After writing zeros (use Disk Utility/Erase/Security Options), format and install the OS and your applications as usual.

Go to the control panel/network connections and right click on the local area connection.  Click properties and roll down to highlight Internet protocol TCP/IP.  Click the properties button and check "use the following IP address".  Fill in 192.168.1.5 and tab through.  The subnet mask will fill itself out to 255.255.255.0
make the preferred DNS server 192.168.1.1 (the router) and click okay.
If the computer succeeds in getting an IP address (verify this by opening a command window and typing "ipconfig" and seeing what it say under the local area connection), type ping 192.168.1.1 in the same command window and see if the router responds.
If so, you can use the TFTP.exe utility from linksys, available from linksysinfo.org at
    http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=4
Run this program, point it at the router IP 192.168.1.1 and show it the bin file you want to use.  Might be a good time to use the released firmware rather than a beta.  But that is your call.  You can get the latest firmware from the linksys page.
If you are unable to ping the router, try putting the ethernet cable in a different port.  Don't ask me why, but when my router bricked, it would only work on slot 4.  Found this out by accident, but I was able to fix the router when I did this.  If it does not work on any slot, you may be screwed.  Call linksys and ask for a RMA to get a replacement.  I would not tell them you bricked it with a beta firmware!

  • Firmware upgrade for keyboard failed now keys won't work

    Hi
Hope someone can help, I recently upgraded my sisters intel imac and during the aluminium (USB) keyboard firmware upgrade it failed and now computer doesn't recognise keyboard keys but usb hub on keyboard that mouse is plugged into works fine. Another keyboard works fine which was handy when trying to type in the passwords to try to re update.
    I have tried the following
    1) searched discussions found advice on resetting nvram, and in open firmware (which on further research doesn't seem possible on this imac?) did control, option P R on start up.
    3) EFI firmware upgrade was successful
    4) have used disk utility to repair permissions
    5) Looked in system profiler and keyboard usb hub is recognised but no keyboard. When another keyboard attached it recognises this fine and is in the system profiler
    6) checked all usb ports
Main question - can I fix or do I have to get a new keyboard or perhaps it would be less stress, time wasted etc to just buy a new keyboard???
    thanks

  • Sky Router firmware upgraded - can no longer login with credentials

I usually have no problems accessing my sky router (white Sky Hub with ADSL) via the page 192.168.0.1 however I tried to login the other day and was greeted with an updated looking summary screen - all very nice I thought, let's go and explore! However when I put in the usual details - username: admin, password: sky I get prompted to input my details again which is very odd. Now I know that I am the only one who accesses the router in this way as my flatmate has never logged in and probably never will so I can only assume the firmware upgrade has caused the password/username to change. I logged in the other week and the password is saved in my browser so I am sure I am not making any mistake here. I have tried in chrome and IE just in case but I have the same issue in both. Has the new firmware brought a new default password? I cannot find any reference to this anywhere on this site so it seems unlikely. I would rather not reset my router to default settings as I have devices with static IP addresses and port forwarding setup that will take me some time to reconfigure. I don't think there is any feature to backup the config unless you are actually logged in to the router but would love to be worng about this. I am guessing I will have to bite the bullet and reset to factory defaults but would welcome any help or suggestions if possible?

After review the events of the morning.....
I normally keep my routers in the basement where my eth jacks all hub.  High on a shelf, I got reasonable coverage on 2.4Ghz even on the second floor.  I went to this router for the Dual mode, but found the 5Ghz didn't make it sufficiently well to the second floor.  So it was moved to the first floor, on a counter.  That morning the router started acting up a bit, not bringing an iphone online.  It was looked at - and a couple of post cards that had been placed on top, removed.  Air flow was not blocked around the sides in any way - just a few pieces of card stock on top to interfere with convection off the top.
    1.  There is no way to look at temperature - maybe the device doesn't even know its own temp.
    2.  There is no fan that I can discern.  Clearly, creating a device that is designed to sit on a flat surface in a home environment ought to take into consideration "normal impediments to air flow".   Temp controlled fans is simple, well proven tech.
    3.  This design is small, has TWO radios, sits horizonal (thus is going to have lousy convection) - seems to me an engineer ought to have given more thought to not only providing the user with easy to obtain data (temp), alternative methods (fan/vertical mounting) and/or self-protection (to hot, I'm shutting down rather than corrupt my database).
Having spent millions on Cisco gear in my career, I would have hoped that Cisco+Linksys would have a little more Cisco and a little less Linksys.

  • WRT54G v3 "upgrade are failed"

I am running the WRT54G router, version 3, and trying to upgrade the firmware. It's been locking up and losing my wan connection on a somewhat regular basis and I thought the upgrade would help.
When I try to upgrade to the latest firmware I get "Upgrade are failed" while the progress bar is at about 20%.
    Basics:
    WRT54G v3
have upgraded firmware since purchase - currently running 4.20.6
trying to upgrade to WRT54G version 3 firmware version 4.30.5
    PC running windows XP
I am connecting via wired, not wireless.
    Attempts:
    1) Logged into router through web interface and went through Administration-->Firmware Upgrade
    Result: Failed
    2) Downloaded firmware again (in case it was corrupted) and tried through web interface
    Result: Failed
    3) Hard reset of router - held down power 30-40 secs - then tried update through web interface
    Result: Failed
    4) Downloaded tftp program and used it
    Result: Failed
Can anyone give any other suggestions or tell me if they've successfully upgraded to this version of firmware?
    Thanks!!

    Try this:
    1. Disconnect all the devices from the router. Only the computer used for the upgrade should be the only device wired to the router. Even the modem shouldn't be connected.
    2. Reset the router for 30 seconds. The IP address of the router will be back to 192.168.1.1 after the reset.
    3. Disable all firewall and security software on the computer.
    4. Set a static IP on the computer. Use:
      • IP: 192.168.1.5
      • Subnet: 255.255.255.0
      • Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    5. Force your network adapters speed to 10 Mbps Half.
    6. Make sure you could still ping the router's IP address (192.168.1.1).
    7. Upgrade the firmware thru the web user interface (Administration tab. Firmware Upgrade tab.).
    8. If it fails, use the TFTP utility.
    9. Reset the router for 30 seconds after a successful upgrade.

  • NMH410 Firmware Upgrading Error

    Hello everyone,
I recently upgraded the HDDs on my NMH410 and basically it resets everything and even roles back the firmware.
But this time around I couldn't manage make it upgrade. Everytime I receive this error message:
    "Error - Result"
Firmware Upgrade has encountered an error. Upgrade Aborted!
There is a thread on this forum suggesting to change the DNS Server but it didn't work for me either.
What to do? Anyone having or had similar issues? Is it something from the Cisco's side?
Is there a way to sideload the firmware or force to install it by directly accessing the hub?

Here's an article that might help you: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=ec5f31fe7f0f4a8c9a89a...

  • Firmware upgrade failed, printer now say i has firmware version 0. attention light lights up

    Hey all
I had a problem printing a pdf on my mac, and then tried to upgrade my mac driver and printer firmware.
But the firmware upgrade failed for some unknown reason. And now the printer just have the ready and attentions lights on constantly.
I have tried to restart and reset the printer many times, and tried the HP firmware upgrade utility several times, with no luck. It just say it was "failed to upgrade"
Any idea what to do ??
My printer is a HP Laserjet Pro CP1025nw
    Thanks
    Jan

    Hello Jan
It definitely sounds like the firmware update failed. Firmware is like a devices Operating System. Without it, it can't do much. This is backed by the "failed" message and that your printer reports it has version 0.
The printer will need to be serviced. Please call HP Phone Support at 1-800-474-6836.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

  • After upgrading to 10.7.2 Time Machine has failed

    Hi everybody,
After upgrading to Lion 10.7.2 Time Machine has failed and won't mount the Time Machine drive.
I use a WD My Book Studio LX for my Time machine and also have a smaller WD My Book daisy chained through it in to the iMac with 2 partitions.
Both of the partitions on the My Book are loading fine and the Studio LX Drive is on and functioning ... the light is blinking away like a good'un ... but the drive won't mount on to the Desktop.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any possible solutions for it?
    Thanks
    Simon

I znever realized that you need to add firmware updates, since Apple sells this but doesn't provide any instruction or information on use. I had my WD external since about May and just looked into adding necessary firmware. This was my second drive and was not aware of this necessary upgrade. If failed to recognize my drive so I contacted Westen Digital and after a series of emails they said sorry but Lion is not supported! I was dumbfounded and in disbelief. They tried to
Get me to upgrade to another model but didn't tell me about any cost. I called the Apple store where I purchased it and talked to. Manager who brought on the phone a genius. He told me he has one and it does work with Lion! He walked me through adding the firmware and there you go Apple knew more than the Tech support at WD! I am hoping someone at Apple will read this and contact WD management and tech support to get their act together.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • ZVM 30G firmware upgrade failed after reloa

My ZVM 30G froze often and I finally chose to reload firmware and hope to upgrade new firmware. Miserably, the upgrade always fails after many attem
    ps.
I have exhausted many suggestions here and none is working! Please help out. Here is the environment and methods I had already tried and none worked. In all the trial, I used the recovery tool.
    1) Vista SP and WMP , failed many times, always freeze when approaching the last upgrade progress bar
2 XP SP and SP2 environment, use WMP and WMP0 respecti'vely, won't work, similar to the above
    3) Tried on 5 different PCs all XP), failed like the above
    4) Tried all USB ports, won't work
    5) Tried three different version of firmwares, none worked
    6) Clean, Format, Scan, reboot, numerous times, won't work
    7) Finally tried on XP SP3, still won't work
The design of "reload" option is severly flawed. Creative is a brand I like, but the company failed on users this time, very disappointed!! Surveying solution to my problem on this forum and Google, I found so many ZVM users have similar problems and everyone is very upset. If Creative cares about user loyalty, it should come up a solution since this is not an isolated issue, it's an issue relating to its design flaw, and Creative is obligated to provide a solution for users despite many out of warranty.
Please share your solution and constructi've advice to this problem if you have one. I appreciate your kindness.

Are the comupters recognizing the Zen? If they don't recognize the player the reload will not work. If it is recognized then it may be the order in which attempt is executed. Has the WMP been rolled back correctly? (WMP runtime must be removed when rolling back from to 0 found in the Add/Remove Programs(show all updates box checked)this can only be rolled back on an Xp not on a Vista O.S. Download firmware file to desktop. Open file before connecting device to computer. On the device before connecting (from recovery screen) choose reload firmware then connect device choose language & update should complete.(IGNORE THE AUTOPLAY WINDOW DO NOT CLOSE IT)
Remember will only work if computer recognizes the device first. Battery needs to be at least 50% full. Use a REAR usb port to insure full powerMessage Edited by coachop94 on -04-2008 :49 AM

  • Vision:M - "Firmware upgrade failed!&qu

After spending several long, long hours rolling back WMP, trying different USB ports, installing and uninstalling various software, and borrowing friends' computers, I FINALLY got the firmware upgrade software to recognize my mp3 player. With great delight and an intense feeling of satisfaction, I clicked the "Upgrade" button and waited for several minutes, only to get a "Firmware upgrade failed!" message. I've tried the "Reload Firmware" option more than once, only to receive the very discouraging "Harddisk Problem". I've tried everything I can think of, from formatting to rebooting to resetting to reloading, but to no avail. I'm now left, like so many others, with a $300 bookend. Now what? I'm completely demoralized.

Well, being the stubborn person that I am,?I didn't listen to your advice andYesterday, against all odds from what I read on this forum, and being told that I would end up with an expensi've paperweight,? I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my Zen Vision M 30MB. ?I downloaded the newest firmware .6, saved it on my laptop which runs WMP 0, disabled all applications, including Norton and virus and spyware programs, as well as Creative's detector, connected my Zen Vision M to the USB dri've, double clicked the new firmware file, and followed the instructions. The new firmware started installing, within 3 minutes my player rebooted and then the library started rebuilding and within 5 minutes the process was SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED!!!!!My player is working better than ever, it has all the new upgrades, album art, never went into Recovery Mode, and most important of all, I didn't lose any of my 2500 songs, hundreds of photos, slideshows and numerous videos, even my personal wallpaper and themes remained the same. I subsequently took the player to my desktop which runs WMP to test it'sand lo and behold, my player was immediately recognized, i transferred music and pictures without any problem and my player is now drag and drop compliant ?through Windows Explorer. My faith in Creative is unfaltering, I also own a MUVO TX FM, a Zen Micro and a Zen Sleek Photo and never had any problem with any of them.

  • Zen Micro 5GB Firmware "Upgrade Faile

I havent installed any of the software from the disc except the Zen Micro driver, my pc didnt need this but i thought it would be best to. Do i need to erase the firware in the recovery menu? I am just running the downloaded applications when my player has the docked icon on the screen.

    4. Detected by WMP as MTP device, loading firmware upgrade, closed WMP. upgraded.
Now it Working fine already, just still have some problem is:
