WAP321 Auto assign channels (Single Point)

Hello there,
I have 2x WAP321 (each about 50ft away from eachother) and have enabled the Signle Point Setup so I can see both there now).
Now i also see the option of automatically assigning channels under channel management for the whole cluster (both xs points).
This sounds like an interesting and cool idea but my question is, when it does change channel, wont that automatically disconnect all connected Wireless clients to the AP? Cause we have wireless speakers and other devices that should stay connected as long as possible.
Does anyone know?

You are correct. With Auto Channel any time that the WAP's change channels, there will be a disconnect of the devices when switching channels. I normally always recommend that the customer does not use auto channel
Auto channel works best in a network that does not have a lot of signal noise around. In a crowd signal area if those signals are on auto and yours are on auto. your device would spend more time jumping around looking for a clear signal, than providing a signal for you to use.

Hi,
Does anyone know if we can mix 2 WAP321 devices on a new Single Point Cluster, along with an additional WAP121 device?

Using Single Point Setup with a mix of the WAP321 and WAP121 is not supported with the current firmware. It is possible that it will work depending on the configuration and it may be added as a feature in a future firmware.

WAP321 - No WDS and Single Point Setup

Hi folks
I bought 3 WAP321s with the intention of creating a fairly wide network in a large building where I can't easily add wiring. Access was to be via a captive portal where I would create logins for all of the users. However since I have bought the devices I discover that it isn't possible to use both WDS and clusters at the same time. I have connected 2 devices by WDS by duplicating settings by hand in both but I have some questions that maybe some folks can answer?
1. Do I have to copy both the captive portal design and the username and logins to each of the 3 devices for this to work? (I think that I do now)
2. In the manual under the WDS discussion there is talk of both point to point and point to multipoint setups. It seems to imply that with point to multipoint then there is a single WAP handling the client associations. In that case does only one WAP handle the logins by captive portal? I am trying to avoid having to duplicate the logins on all devices.
3. How do you decide in WDS if you are point to point or point to multipoint? Is it just the number of connections that you have on the WDS setup page?
An alternative if I am desperate is to use RADIUS but I am trying to avoid that

Hi Richard, thank you for using our forum, my name is Luis I am part of the Small business Support community.
1 and 2. It isn't necessary to copy the same captive portal configuration for all the equipment, you should just configure the central WAP and the rest will receive the Captive portal.
3. In the point-to-multipoint bridge mode, one WAP device acts as the common link between multiple access points. In your case if you are connecting two WAPs to one that is a multipoint bridge.

What is the recommended way to do multiple channel, single point sampling for control with an NI PCI-6255 in RLP?

I am writing a driver for the M-series NI PCI-6255 for QNX. I have downloaded the MHDDK and have all the examples working. I have also enhanced the examples to do interrupt handling (e.g. on AI_FIFO interrupt or DMA Ring Buffer interrupt). My ultimate goal is to write a driver that I can use for closed-loop control at 500 Hz using all 80 channels of the NI PCI-6255. I may also need to synchronize each scan with a NI PCIe-7841R card for which I've already written a driver. I want an interrupt-driven solution (be it programmed I/O on an interrupt or DMA that generates an interrupt) so that the CPU is available to other threads while the 80 analog inputs are being read (since it takes quite a while). I also want to minimize the number of interrupts. Basically, I will need to collect one sample from all 80 channels every 2 milliseconds.
There are many different options available to do so, but what is the recommended technique for the NI PCI-6255 card? I tried using the AI FIFO interrupt without DMA, but it seems to interrupt as soon as any data is in the AI FIFO (i.e. not empty condition), rather than when all 80 channels are in the FIFO, so more interrupts are generated than necessary. I tried using DMA in Ring Buffer mode to collect a single sample of 80 channels and interrupting on the DMA Ring Buffer interrupt, which appears to work better except that this technique runs into problems if I cannot copy all the data out of the DMA buffer before the next AI scan begins (because the DMA will start overwriting the buffer as it is in ring buffer mode). If the DMA is not in ring buffer mode or I make the ring buffer larger than one 80-channel sample then I don't have a way to generate an interrupt when one sample has been acquired (which I need, because I'm doing control).
I saw something in the documentation about a DMA Continue mode in which it looks like you can switch between two different buffers (by programming the Base Count/Address with a different address than the current address) automatically and thereby double-buffer the DMA but there is no real documentation or examples on this capability. However, I think it would work better than the Ring Buffer because I could interrupt on the DMA CONT flag presumably and be copying data out of one buffer while it is filling the other buffer.
Another option would be DMA chaining, but again, I cannot find any information on these features specific to the NI DAQs.
I tried interrupting on AI STOP figuring that I could get a single interrupt for each scan, but that doesn't appear to work as expected.
I know that DAQmx on Windows has the ability to do such single sample, multiple channel tasks at a fixed rate so the hardware must support it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello,
The interrupt that will happen nearest the times that you need is the AI_Start_Interrupt in the Interrupt_A group. This interrupt will occur with each sample clock. By the second time this interrupt fires, the AI FIFO should have the samples from the first conversion. If it is easier to use programmed IO, you can read the samples out of the FIFO until you get all 80.
Additionally, you can set the DMA to send samples as soon as the FIFO is no longer empty...instead of waiting for half full or full. This change will reduce latency for your control loop. You can set AI_FIFO_Mode in AI_Mode_3_Register to 0. By the second time this interrupt fires, you should be able to check how much data is in the DMA ring buffer and read the 80 samples when they are available. You can make the ring buffer larger than 80 samples if you see data getting overwritten.
There is no interrupt associated with 80 samples being available in the FIFO or 80 samples being available/transferred by DMA to the host. X Series has much more flexibility with these interrupts.

WAP321 2 SSIDs not both showing Clustered in Single Point Setup

I have 2 Cisco WAP321 with 2 SSIDs setup Single point using VLAN 1 and VLAN 2 using firmware version 1.0.5.3. VLAN 1 is the management VLAN. One WAP321 is connected to a SG200-8 version 1.0.8.3 on a trunked port 1UP,2T. The SG200-8 is connected to a SG300-28 L3 switch version 1.3.7.18 on a trunk port 1UP,2T. The other WAP321 is connected to a trunked port 1UP,2T on the SG300-28 switch. Both SSIDs seem to work but the VLAN2 SSID does not show as clustered under single point Wireless Neighborhood. Only VLAN1 shows clustered. Do I have a setup issue? Is the Wireless Neighborhood not showing correct? What do you think is the problem why they are not showing clustered? Both SSIDs work and connect to the internet.

If it matters DHCP is from the SG300-28 in L3 mode which feeds a RV180 router from a 1UP port on the SG300-28.

You do not have a setup issue. Clustering/Single Point Setup is based on the device and not on the SSID's. When looking at the Wireless Neighborhood within the Clustering section, you will only see the first SSID listed regardless of how many SSID's you have configured.
Now as far as the connection are concerned you said that your friends were having a hard time connecting. When they eventually connected were they going to the guest network? When you connect with your laptop, are you connecting to the same SSID or a different one?

Network computers auto assigning IP address

I'm administering 300+ MacBook in a 1 to 1 class room setting. for 3 months I had no problems, but more and more laptops are coming up with self-assigned IP address with no warning or reason. users (students and teachers) do not have admin authority to change settings so when it happens I have to physically (can't vnc to a deadend...) go and set TCP/IP to automatic and apply.
Previous years we used windows platform laptops and never had this issue so I'm hesitent to think its DHCP running out of lease IPs (I've checked it too)
If lowering the lease time so that if a student DOES self assign IP it wont be for long is a solution I'd be able to do so, but it seems rediculous to me that with DHCP, proper net setup, and adaquate wireless access point coverage (on uninterfering channels) that the macbook would rather make up some random garbage IP then just keep trying at DHCP....
the self assigned IP isn't even in the ip range so even if it DID do it network connection would never work anyway.
Any idea what I can do to NOT have the macbooks go auto assign IP (which is the dumbest thing I've ever seen) and keep their dhcp lease intact or reassign?

Welcome to Apple Discussions:
A "self-assigned" IP means that the computer is not able to reach the DHCP server.
There is nothing "dumb" about it if you understand how networking works. It's a flag that something is wrong with the network and the computer is not connected to anything.
Of course the "self-assigned" IP is not in your network IP range. That's how it works.
If this problem is new, and you have not done anything, it may well be local RF interference blocking or jamming the WiFi signal.
You might consider installing some sniffers on a computer and checking what other signals are in the area that may be causing the problem. Anything from a leaky microwave oven, to student(s) using a cellphone(s) or BlueTooth devices can cause WiFi issues. Being near an airport, a fire or police station or other source or RF can also cause loss of signal.

NI-DAQmx VisualStudio C++ 6 Single point analog output

We have a very simple application: set a voltage (actually 6 channels) and keep it until we want it changed again, perform the change very quickly in response to an image capturing algorithm. So I don't need any waveforms or buffering.
In this forum post http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=231&message.id=3283&query.id=18094 you talk about an AOOnePoint example, but I get an error that the NI-DAQ driver does not support my device.
I may need to use NI-DAQmx, but how? I would like to use something like AO_VWrite(,,), maybe for 6 channels in one call. But I can't find it in NI-DAQmx. It seems I need to setup buffers and frequencies. I have a working sample, but it seems a slow and certainly overkill of this simple application:

It looks like you simply wants to output voltages on the analog output channels, but only wants one update at a time with no waveforms or buffering in DAQmx.
As I'm sure you know there are really just 3 types of measurements. Single Point, Finite, and Continuous. Since you want a single value at a time it's just a Single Point operation.
You can find DAQmx examples for single point operations in this path:

Simply place the DAQmx Write Code within a loop and you will be updating one value at a time, but multiple times when "we want it changed again".

Using LabVIEW and an E-Series DAQ Card to perform relatively high speed single point acquisition in response to a changing DIO pattern.

I am using the DIO lines on my E-series card to drive an external multiplexer which switches 1 of 8 sets of 3 signals to channels 0,1 and 2 on my DAQ. I need to acquire the 3 single points of data, do a little processing, then update the mux code before acquiring the next 3 points of data and so on. I have been trying to do this using hardware controlled loops but can only achieve a real sampling rate (time between the same set of three signals) of about 200s/s. I am trying to achieve in excess of 800 s/s. Any ideas?.

You are doing pretty good if you are getting 200S/s.
I believe the only way you can get 800 S/s reliably is to go to LV-Real Time. Not for the speed, but for the determinism.

Temporary bypass of auto assignment of Inspection type

I have checked 'auto assignment' in QM master data view. My goods receipts are generating inspection lots with 01 inspection type. This is all good. Is it possible to trick the system not to assign the inspection type in certain cases even though 'auto assignment ' is setup ? If this is possible I would like to use this to model an ad-hoc first article inspection as required by my client.

I tested your suggestion of creaing multiple plans and tricking system not to assign any inspection plan. It worked. I have multiple inspection plans for Prelim series( say 501 usage) and one '01' for normal incoming quality inspection. When a Vendor calls the buyer and cautions that next shipment has some process changes/tool changes/new raw material introdcued etc., some at Client site has to modify the QIR to put in Prelim status. At the time of GR, system gets confused on which 501 plan to assign and leaves the assignment open in the insp. lot. Then manually QI inspector has to assign the plan knowing the vendor's caution. Again, Gagesh question of how change being communicated is not anwered here. But I may propose an enhancement in the PO screen( a check box may be) that buyer puts in after receiving communication from Vendor. This flag may run a program to put the QIR status to Prelim status. Lets see how it goes. My question is answered. Thanks to you all for inciteful help. Points goes to FF for the 'Idea'.

Single-point failure of proxy server??

Three questions regarding using the proxy server for WLS clustering:
          1. What happen if the proxy server fails? The entire cluster won't be
          accessible?
          If so, is there a implication of having "meta-configuration" for
          proxy server failover?
          2. Does the term "in-memory persistence" clustering (over JDBC) does
          imply
          the session data is "shared" in memory between the primary &
          secondary
          servers, or they are compleleted replicated in each server??
          3. How bad is it in terms of performance using the JDBC session
          persistence
          and the in-memory replication? Any one has experimented it??
          Any thoughts and comments are helpful and appreciated??

          If using File/JDBC persistence, it doesn't matter which server gets the request
          because all servers have access to every session's data.
          When you assign a hostname "to the cluster" and map that hostname to the IP
          address of each server in the cluster, this sets up something called DNS
          round-robining. What this does is round-robin which IP address is returned when
          the cluster hostname is resolved. Unfortunately, DNS is not very good at
          detecting failed machines so it may continue to hand out IP addresses of failed
          machines.
          A better way to do this is with a hardware router that is made for this purpose
          (e.g., LocalDirector). The router can detect a failed machine and redirect the
          request to another machine in the cluster. Unlike the in-memory replication
          case, it doesn't matter which server gets each request so no proxy is required.

Primary site server a single point of failure?

I'm installing ConfigMgr 2012 R2, and employing a redundant design as much as possible. I have 2 servers, call them CM01,CM02, in a single primary site, and on each server I have installed the following roles: Management Point, Distribution Point, Software
Update Point, as well as the installing the SMS Provider on both servers. SQL is on a 3rd box.
I am now testing failover from a client perspective by powering down CM01 and querying the current management point on the client: (get-wmiobject -namespace root\ccm -class ccm_authority).CurrentManagementPoint . The management point assigned to
the client flips to the the 2nd server, CM02, as expected. However, when I try to open the CM management console, I cannot connect to the Site, and reading SMSAdminUI log reveals this error: "Provider machine not found".
Is the Primary site server a single point of failure?
Why can't I point the console to a secondary SMS provider?
If this just isn't possible, what is the course of action to restore console access once the Primary Site server is down?

Yes, that is a completely false statement. Using a CAS and multiple primaries in fact will introduce multiple single points of failure. The only technical Eason for a CAD a multiple primary sites is for scale out; i.e., supporting 100,000+ managed systems.
HA is achieved from a client perspective by adding multiple site systems hosting the client facing roles: MP, DP, SUP, App Catalog.
Beyond that, all other roles are non-critical to client operations and thus have no built-in HA mechanism. This includes the site server itself also.
The real question is what service that ConfigMgr provides do you need HA for?

Script to auto zero channels in a TDM file with multiple channel groups

Hi friends,
I am trying to process some data but am having trouble modifying a script to autozero channels across multiple channel groups. The following script works to zero channels across one group. I use this script to process data in a TDM file with only one channel group. I need to be able to zero channels across multiple groups (5 groups). But the amount of groups I will have may change so I might need an option to enter the amount of groups or have the script determine the amount of groups in my TDM file.

Want to assign channel line to control and indicators

Hi,
I have some Input output card in my PLC machine to interface my NI-9188 I/O modules. Can I assign a particular line in the channel for any control/indicator at the front panel of the VI. In other words can I create one drop down menu in front panel attached to control/indicator where I can select the channel line through which i want to pass or fetch that info from my PLC through NI-9188.
For example:
I have a LED at front panel and I want to assign that indicator to line number 29 of my 32 line channel.

This code can be modified to include Boolean LED that will correspond to a specific hardware line designated by the channel parameters for your DAQ device. On the block diagram modify the DAQmx Read to Digital>>Single Channel>>Single Sample>>Boolean. You can then wire a Boolean indicator to the data output of the DAQmx Read. This is a simple example can be modified for your specific application.

Auto assignment to management

Ability to auto assign adjustment requests to levels of management / associates based on the write off request by payor
That is depending upon the level of write off request the request should be automatically escalated to required manager.

Hi!
There is no event in ALV for a single mouse click, or entering into a field some value.
There are events for double clicking on a field, or pressing ENTER button.
Here's an example of the ALV event handling:
At the double click or ENTER's event, you have to LOOP on your ALV's internal table and put the 'X' into the SET field, where ABC is filled.

Quota arrangement - winning contract is not auto assign in SC

My Problem: Winning contract is not auto assign to Shopping cart
I created a Quota Arrangement (QA). It contains 2
contracts, for example in line item 1, contain Contract with Supplier
'A', with target percentage of 60%. In line item 2, contain Contract with
Supplier 'B', with target percentage of 40%. I did not specify any quotabase quantity.
For your info, the contract for Supplier 'A" is a Purchasing Contract,
with target value of 80 (currency Malaysian Ringgit). Contract for
Supplier 'B' has target value of 20 (currency Malaysian Ringgit). When Icreate a Shopping Cart, with quantity 5 (each-EA) and price per unit is
2
(Malaysian Ringgit), total is MYR10. When I go to Source of Supply tab,
the system showed 2 suppliers from the 2 contracts. It did not
automatically assigned to the winning contract. We still have to choose
