WAP371 iPhone dropping connection

Hello there,
The WAP371 works like a charm, the only strange thing im noticing is especially iphones dropping connection very fast.
I have disabled bonjour, put a static channel, set it to WPA2 and disabled energy safe mode plus disabled Bandwidth utilization. Im using no VLAN's just one simple SSID. This due to inactivity is nonsense, the iphone is still in the same spot.
The only thing i can see in the logs is the following.

To make it even worse it looks like its doing this almost every minute when the iphone is in 'standby':
Why does it keep dropping connection? WHen i put an airplay express next to the WAP371, it stays connected all the time to that so this must be a WAP issue.

I just bought the new MacBook Air a few days ago and my Internet connection is so slow. My iPhone's connection works fine when connected to the wifi but the MacBook connects for a few seconds then drops completely. What do I do? I tried connecting it to my phone's hotspot and it works perfectly. I'm a new Mac user so I have no idea what to do. I have Comcast xfinity cable and Internet. Thanks for the help.

• Iphone 4 drops connection with the service provider

Hi everybody,
I have iphone4 and sometimes it drops connection with the service provider (infact it has dropped 3 times in a month) and i have to restart it. Is there any solution to this problem?

• Macbook drops connection to AEBS

Hello everyone,
Came across this scenario and need advice. I scoured this and many other forums for solutions to this specific issue and didn't see any similar posts, close ones included things I had already tried.
Hoping someone may have run into this before and it is something simple I am just overlooking.
Background:
All devices noted here were working with a Linksys G router with no noticeable connection issues with Comcast Cable as ISP.
New Device:
One week ago I replaced Linksys with a new AEBS, 7.5.2 firmware, with WPA/WPA2 security
Successes:
IMac (purchased 2010) & MacBook Pro (purchased 2011), IPad, Xbox, Iphone, Printer connect wirelessly.
IMac and Sonos ZoneBridge hard wired to AEBS working properly.
Failure: Macbook 1,1 (circa 2006), Intel Core 2 Duo, running 10.6.6 with Atheros wireless card (a//b/g) cannot keep a wireless connection. During testing I placed the Macbook 2 feet from AEBS to ensure maximum signal strength
Examples:
1. Airport utility shows 'connected' full bars, but advanced tab shows no IP address
2. 'Turn Airport on and off' , shows 'connected', IP Address is displayed, but no connection
3. Once connection drops it does not come back unless AEBS is restarted
Troubleshooting/Observations
1. If AEBS is restarted connection works for 1-2 minutes then drops, does not come back until another restart
2. Assigned an IP address to Macbook to remove DHCP variable - no connection
3. Used iStumbler to determine best Channel on router to insure best signal/least noise - no connection
4. Removed wireless security from AEBS - no connection
5. Removed AirPort profile on Macbook and created new - no connection
Questions:
1. Does the Atheros wireless card have an inherent problem with newer AEBS?
2. Would replacing wireless card with 'n' capability resolve? if so any recommendations on card?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!

I don't have a solution but I have the same exact problem. I've had my Macbook 1,1 (Core Duo) for 4 1/2 years. I just bought a new MacBook Pro and an Airport Extreme. Everything in my house (iPhone 4, iPhone 3, Wii, MacBookPro) except the MacBook works just find with the Airport Extreme. Before the Airport Extreme, I used the Verizon FIOS Actiontec router and everything worked fine.
Help!! I'm almost tempted to return the Airport Extreme.

• New Airport Extreme (6th Gen) Dropping Connection from Time to Time.

Problem:
6th Generation Airport Extreme drops connection intermittently at random times.
Set Up:
6th Generation Airport Extreme (main router - no hard drive/not a time capsule) located center of house on the main floor. 2 Range extenders each approximately 30+ feet away from main router. First range extender (Airport Express - newest generation) located on the third floor parallel to main. Second range extender (Airport Express - new generation) is located at the end of the kitchen (main floor).
Main Router is connected straight from a Motorolla Surfboard modem on a foyer table at the center of the house.
Range extenders connected to Main Router wirelessly and at wall outlett height.
Previous Setup:
Same setup as above but, with the 5th Generation Airport Extreme instead of the 6th Generation.
Firmware:
All current versions.
Devices:
1 SONY VAIO VGN-FW490J
HP Notebook G60
Several WEMO outlets
1 iPad Mini
1 iPad 2
1 iPhone 5
1 Motorolla RAZR MAXX
Macbook Pro
iMac (wired from main router on foyer table)
Note: All of these routers/range extenders/modem/computers are plugged into surge protected outlets.
Notes:
With the new Airport Extreme my family and I have been experiencing intermettent connection drops. The amber light on the main router turns on and within a few minutes turns green and connection resumes again. This has been happening for a few days now ever since I purchased the new router. This has not happened before with the 5th generation router, which I donated to our church.
I have not exchanged the product yet. I will be initiating a Complete Power Recycle after some suggested solutions in a bit. I have contacted my Internet Service Provider (Comcast) for a line check and found no problems.
Has anyone found any solutions to resolve the intermittent connection drops? Is reverting to the previous firmware going to solve this?
I would like some insights before trying to do all this. Thank you all for your time.
P.s.
I've done a detailed post since posts like these is frequently asked questions on set-up, devices, connections, etc:

Update:
Before I went to exchange my 6th Gen Extreme, I ran through all possible solutions from complete power recycle to no devices connected. I even went out of my way to my cousin's house to test it out. The same problem still kept coming.
I was able to exchange my 6th Gen Airprt Extreme with another 6th Gen Extreme the other day. I set it up how the instructions told me and within an hour it did the exact same problem as the previous 6th Gen Extreme. I gave up and decided to get the ASUS RT-AC66R (ASUS RT-AC66U is the same, just the 'R' is Best Buy's model.)
The ASUS router is just as great as the 6th Gen Router. You can actually get it down to $180 by price matching to Amazon. The ASUS router has 3 antennas that you can adjust according to where the signal is used more. I pointed them more towards the backyard, upstairs, and the living room. The range is by far better than the Extreme because of this. I was able to drive down a good block (3-4 houses down) and still connected to my router. Also it has 2 USB ports which was fantastic for me so I can plug in my external hard drive and a non-wireless printer. It has many more features that I really liked that I didn't even know was possible. The router utility interface is a bit confusing at first but, it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
Some features that I liked with the ASUS was the ability to have multiple guest network with time limits. 3 for 2.4gHz and 3 for 5gHz. I think that Airport guest accounts are only allowed 2.4gHz but not a 5gHz. Though I only needed 1 for each but, I can see this working well for businesses.
Another feature is traffic manager. I am able to set specific bandwith for different types of use such as, high priority 80%-100% bandwith for gaming, medium priority badwith 70%-90% for HD media streaming/data transfer, and 50%-80% low bandwith for casual web surfing. It also has it's own "beamforming" so that data isn't free roamed.
Lastly it has AiCloud sync which is basically like having a hard drive into your router but, much like having a Dropbox at the same time.
More or less I think I'll stick with the ASUS router rather than going with the new Airport Extreme. I think that it's more on firmware issue than it is hardware. If you are not willing to switch to another brand and want to keep staying with Apple, I recommend going back to the 5th generation until a new firmware or rebuilt 6th gen extreme is out.
I have not found any problem with the ASUS router and no intermittent connectivity issues.
Now I am not trying to make you buy the ASUS router. I'm merely expressing how great the product is.
I do have 60 days from Best Buy return policy to try out the ASUS (and report of any malfuntions) and if within that time a new firmware is out for the Extreme. I highly doubt I'll go back to the extreme though.
Hope this helped!!

• Macbook can't connect via L2TP but can via PPTP. iPhone can connect to both

So I've been banging my head up against the wall for the better part of this morning trying to figure this out. Just as a note, I'm 3000 miles from my house and server, but I do have access to it for the time being via PPTP.
Before I left, I verified that I could connect with L2TP on my iphone's 3G network. I was also able to connect at the airport on my Macbook using L2TP. Sometime overnight something changed, and I can't figure out what. I noticed that my phone dropped it's VPN connection saying something like "the connection to the server dropped unexpectedly" or such. After that, I was unable to connect over L2TP on my macbook or iphone. On a whim I tried connecting over PPTP which worked! But only on my macbook. Again on a whim I tried to connect via L2TP on my iphone, and it worked?! I rinsed, lathered and repeated that process over and over again and confirmed that I could only connect over L2TP on my iPhone after connecting on my macbook over PPTP. Also, on my iphone, if I stored the password it wouldn't authenticate (probably not related).
As of this moment I am connected using L2TP on my iphone for the last hour, using it to successfully stream Pandora across US borders, but can't sustain a PPTP connection on my macbook for longer than 10 mins. And I still can't connect over L2TP. So that said here are the client and server logs (ips, domains and usernames masked....) Server and clients are in different timezones:

I'm having similar issues but not much luck getting any answers. I made a similar post here - maybe something in there will help you.
One thing I have been able to pinpoint is that the MobileMe Back To My Mac service was causing quite a few issues with being able to connect to the VPN. Once I turn off the service, connection seems to work fine. Although, once I'm connected, I cannot access file sharing. Still waiting for some answers on that.

• Ipad2 dropping connection with WPA2

I recently changed my FIOS connection to WPA2, and my Ipad 2 keeps dropping connection after a few min of play. I have no issues with my Ipad 1, Iphone, and Itouch connecting to it. It seems to only happen with the Ipad2. My wireless is set up with WPA2 AES encryption using the standard FIOS router. It is not a distance from router issue either. I have been right next to the router with all the devices and still only have the issue with the Ipad2. I restarted the router, deleted the connection and reconnected to the router also.

IPad dropping WiFi every few seconds after updating iOs to version 5.x
I have the same problem with my iPad 2. It was working fine when my iOS was v.4.3.3. After updating the iOs to version 5.0.1, I kept dropping my WiFi & Internet signal. I am using WPA2, and my SSID is OFF (does not broadcast).
To solve the problem, I updated iOs to v5.1. Same problem occurred. I tried using the OpenDNS as suggested.. Did not work too. WiFi stays on for 5-10 seconds before saying signal was lost. Tried to log on again - iPad replied that I cannot join the network. Tried soft & hard reset, forgetting network settings, resetting all network Setting, etc - still nothing works.
Finally, out of frustration, I turned ON my router's SSID (broadcasting openly). Guess what? My iPad WiFi is working perfectly without any dropped connection.
Please try this quick solution. It may just fix your problems. I realized that this solution may be effective for some iPad users out there. But there is a chance it may not work with others (I tried almost all suggestions in other forums - ranging from updating the wireless router firmware, using an OpenDNS, doing a soft & hard reset of the iPad, etc. Still, nothing worked for my iPad - except this simple SSID setting). Hopefully, this additional solution might help someone. Good luck :-)

• Fix for Airserver or Reflector ( drops connection when call comes in )

Hey Guys
Today i am using AirServer and it works great to be able to show your IPad on you PC or MAC. The problem is that i am sharing a app that does a voice and video call and when the call connects it drops connection of the sharing on the MAC / PC. Once the Phone / Video connection is ended Airserver comes back up and works like advertised. (I just tried Reflector and they both work the same). Don't know if this a securty thing in IOS or not might be ? Any work arounds ? I already sent emails to both Airserver and Reflector. Open to other products if needed.
Does anyone know a solution which might work to be able to share the IPad / IPhone on PC / Mac and not drop the connection. If solution only works on a Mac that is fine as well.
Device
IPad 2 running IOS 7.0.4
Displaying to the following:
AirServer version 1.9.4.0 Windows on Win 7 32 bit.
AirServier version 4.8.1 on Mavericks on a Mac Book Air.
Thx
Dave

Still have the problem does anyone know a fix for this by chance ?>
Anyone know of a application or way to use a lightning to hdmi into a PC or Mac that would allow to show just half of the of the real estate on your monitor ( Similer to Airserver ?). I assume i need some capture card basically i want to be able to show half the screen with my IPAD and show a browser on the other half of the screen.
BTW I am using a IPad Air now running IOS 7.04 same thing.

• Why won't my iphone 4 connect to my home network?

I've had my iphone4 connected to my home wifi network for about 18 months with no problems. A few weeks ago it suddenly dropped the connection and when I try to connect, and enter the password, it tries but then responds that it can't join the network.
I can connect to other networks at work and in public. There is a laptop and another iphone4 connected to the home network with no problems.
Today, I ahve reset the router (as suggested on another thread) and reconfigured the network. The laptop is connected and working but now NEITHER iphone will connect to the wifi.
Help please!
Sue

Thanks for trying but mine hasn't. I've connected to this router before with no problems. There doesn't seem to be a reasonable explanation.

• IPhone disable, connect to itunes

Hi,
I dropped my iPhone 4 in the toilet about a month ago and it stopped working, i put it in rice and left it. I went to try and turn it on today and it worked, but it says "iPhone disabled, connect to iTunes" so I connected it to iTunes and it says "to allow access, please respond on your iPhone" but my iPhone won't let me have access unless it's connected to iTunes. Lose lose. It may be because the computer that my phone is backed up to is in another country. Please help if anyone has any answers. TY

Connect to iTunes on computer and enter Recovery Mode. Here are easy steps. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore button of iTunes.

e.g. In google Maps, I want to download a map of my region by typing th command “ok maps” into the map's app search bar and tap search. Dowloading starts, but then the iPhone drops gsm and wifi signal before the download is complete, then the signals come on again after a couple of seconds.

• MacBook is dropping connections often

Using OS 10.5.8 with a MacBook 4.1, using a Belkin "n" wireless routing fed from Comcast Cable modem (motorola, I think).
If I leave the machine for even a short while, it is likely to break the wireless connection. Also on the same wireless router are a PC laptop and an iPhone 4.
Since getting the iPhone, the dropped connections on the MacBook seem to be getting worse. No noticeable problem with the PC, or the iPhone (although we have not used the iPhone wireless apps much yet.
Have gotten a message like this a couple times in to past couple of days
Thanks for any pointers or clarifications?

• SOLVED: Dropped connections with Time Capsule and cable modem/router

I've been dealing with random dropped connections for quite a while and I thought that it would be useful to share what I've found.
I was having a very puzzling problem where my internet connection would drop randomly on wireless devices. On my laptop, webpages would suddenly become unresponsive for a minute or two, Mail would have connection problems and complain, etc...but incredibly randomly and definitely not repeatable or in any pattern that I noticed.
I also have 2 Nest thermostats in the house which connect via wi-fi. I noticed that they would randomly show Offline very often when viewed from a webpage or iPhone app, but the Nest front panels showed that they were connected with a strong signal.
As I said, the dropped connections were very sporadic. Most of the time, everything worked, but every once in a while...bam.
I worked with the level 3 tech support guys at Nest for over a week to figure out what was going on. We went through settings on my router and Time Capsule and everything seemed proper and okay. I even replaced the Nests with new ones but still had the same problem. We were all completely stumped.
Yesterday, my laptop dropped it's connection at the same time my wife's laptop dropped hers. At this point, I wondered if something was wrong with the Time Capsule or maybe my internet provider.
I called AppleCare to see if they could help with debugging the problem. They passed me up to a senior wi-fi tech and he asked me many questions about the configuration of my network. My home network looked like this yesterday (see crappy diagram below)
Motorola Cable modem/router
|
Netgear multiport switch
| | | | |
hardwired Macs, TimeCapsule (bridge mode)
laser printers, | | | | |
Apple TVs laptops, Nest, iphones
This configuration seemed correct to me. The Time Capsule in bridge mode would mean that the cable modem/router would be handling DHCP so all the devices would be on the same network and I could print from a laptop to one of my printers and the laptops could connect to the hardwired Macs, etc..
The AppleCare technician said he thought that bridge mode was the problem. He mentioned that there was a known issue that in this configuration, the IP addresses could get lost between the cable modem/router and the Time Capsule. He said it would be best if the Time Capsule was in DHCP/NAT mode and the first device before the switch, this way the Time Capsule was the only device passing out IP addresses.
So I repatched my network like this:
Motorola Cable modem/router
|
TimeCapsule (DHCP/NAT mode)
| | | | | |
Netgear multipart switch laptops, Nest, iphones
| | | |
hardwired Macs,
laser printers,
Apple TVs
I can tell you that in the past 24 hours, I haven't seen anything lose a connection. Not even the Nests which seemed be on and off all the time. And, in this configuration, all the devices are on the same network and able to speak to each other.
I hope that helps someone.

So you're saying that Bridge Mode not functioning properly is a well known issue?
Not to me.. I have not had issues with the TC in bridge. And it is my prefered setup. I think it is better as a wireless AP and network hard disk than a router any day of the week.. but there are other ways to skin the cat if it is proving unreliable. I am at the moment using a wireless bridge from the Gen4 TC to a Gen4 AE upstairs for TV internet streaming.. it started off very reliable.. but of late I guess I need to reboot it every few days. And it has required a full reset two or three times.. although I probably need to take some of the blame for those. I am not over worried.. i do not believe in wireless bridges except for the most interim of arrangements.. it will be wired in ethernet ASAP.
Wireless should always be used in a way that respects its status as voodoo.. not stable technology. NOT SCIENCE.. it is more a bag of beads and rattles.
Is there a way to change the cable modem/router to avoid the double NAT problem?
The answer to this may depend on your ISP. Did they provide the modem? If so they may lock it down so you have no control. But normally a Motorola cable modem will not have a bridge mode as such but will have a method of turning off NAT.. (and wireless).. this amounts to the same thing.
Once you turn off NAT.. you need to power cycle the modem so the TC gets the public IP in router mode. The power cycle time might be 5min or 20min or overnight.. it again depends on your ISP.. but you need to stop the modem capturing the public IP so it can be passed to the modem.
Depending on where you are in the world.. US is most concentration of cable network.. you can go out and buy your own modem. Pick one on your ISP list and steer clear of SB.. at least with the apple routers they are problematic.
It also can be a case that the cable modem is SB model and therefore more problematic. Sorry I have forgotten the recommendation for what to buy. There are a number of posts here about it but search is terrible now. (or I am too old to figure it out). I will get Bob to poke his nose in and tell you what works for him.
