WAP4410N Access Point wall-mountable?

Hello everybody,
I have a little question regarding the WAP4410N access point.
Is it possible to mount this access point at a wall or a ceiling?
Are there any little "holes" at the back of the access point for mounting?
Or is there a "mounting-bracket" for this access point?
I've already read the data sheets and documentation for this ap, but found nothing.
Many thanks in advance.
regards,
Kevin

Hi Walter,
Yes ...it can be wall mounted

I deployed new Linksys Wireless WAP4410N Access Point and it is working fine. Laptop which is connected to AP can able to access internet. It can able to communicate with AP and also the gateway IP(Router IP) but the issue is wireless devices are not able to communicate between them. In the case LAN device can communicate between wireless devices. Can't able to share files between wireless devices.
Please help me to troubleshoot this issue. Wat could be the issue over here. Wat step i have to take to clear this issue.

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.
Under Wireless/Security how do you have the Wireless Isolation configured?
Wireless Isolation (within SSID) should be disabled to allow wireless computers associated to the same SSID to see and transfer files between each other

  • Pulling traffic details from WAP4410N Access Point

    Hi
I recently got WAP4410N access point and hoped I could count traffic of my home users using syslog (my tenants cost me quite a lot per month).
Here is what the manual says:
Syslog Notification—Syslog is a standard protocol used to capture
information about network activity. The access point supports this protocol
and sends its activity logs to an external server. To enable Syslog, click
    Enabled. The default is Disabled.
    - Syslog Server IP Address—Enter the IP address of the Syslog server.
In addition to the standard event log, the access point can send a
detailed log to an external Syslog server. The access point’s Syslog
captures all log activities and includes this information about all data
transmissions: every connection source and destination IP address, IP
server, and number of bytes transferred.
I enabled Syslog Notifications and set Syslog Server IP Address to one of the local IPs connected through this AP.
The target PC has win7 installed. I use WinSyslog to save all the incoming logs to a file.
There were no logs recorded till I ticked all the options Administration->Log->Log section in the AP configuration utility.
Now I get records for logins to the  configuration utility but nothig else.
Can I get traffic data (source-destination and number of butes transferred) from the AP somehow?
    Thanks

Hi Peter, this is a Windows feature (a confusing one at that). On the same Window where the message displays asking for the PIN should say something like "Connect to the network without setting it up". This should take care of that for you.

  • WAP4410N access point 4 or 8 digit PIN required by WIN 8.1 network not of router label

I am unable to get my WAP4410N wireless access point connected to my switch with an RJ45 connection to join my network because the 4 or 8 numeric digit PIN required by Win 7 and Win 8.1 is not identifiable on the router label. The network sees the WAP4410N but will not accept any6 of the numbers I put in. I have tried various numbers from the Mac address, serial number and model number, but "network setup" will not accept any of them.

    A bug in common WAP4410N and WRVS4400Nv2
I will call this a functional bug
The connection control should have an input box with buttons for Add || Edit || Delete and you should enter the MAC Address in and click add and this should populate a read only textarea so you are NOT limited to just 20 client computers. Basically this should work like the Setup_lan.htm in WRVS4400Nv2 Static IP Mapping but instead of doing mapping just add/subtract/edit Mac addresses and you can fit a lot more than 20.
This is a Major limitation considering I paid pretty good money for this router and access point, I should have vertually limited clients
So back to the Setup_lan.htm in WRVS4400Nv2 static IP mapping......I LOVE this feature and the way it was implemented.....NICE JOB GUYS

I am sorry that no one has responded before now. What is the router that you are trying to repeat?
What were the steps you went through to do this?
According to the Admin Guide for the WAP4410N it will only repeat the WRVS4400N and another WAP4410N.

  • Wireless access points

How far can the WAP4410N Access Point be from a router before its signal starts to degrade.  I need an access point that can handle at least 65 feet from a wireless router.  The distance is from building to building.

You can't be sure until you test. Your best bet is to go with outdoor antennas mounted on the side of each building. Always think "line of sight" when dealing with wireless...

  • Can I disable my Verizon Fios Router Wireless radio, connect it to a switch and use my airport express as my wireless access point connected to an in wall ethernet port?

Here's the deal.  I have a Verizon Fios MI424WR router.  My house has CAT5 throughout the house.  The media panel is located in the garage.  I want to take the Verizon Fios Router and cannot it in the media panel so I can connect a switch to it, that way, all my CAT5 can fire throughout the house. Verizon being Verizon decided to connect the router directly in the office.
Can I go this route (Router in media panel, switch cross connect to it) and use Airport Express, connected to one of the in-wall CAT5 ports in my house and then set it up as my wireless access point to provide wifi to my portable devices (iPad, iPhone, Macbook)?  Is this possible? Will Airport Express comminicate with my verizon router via ethernet in-wall? Do I have to turn off the wireless radio in the Verizon router?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is right, by hard wired I was just making clear wired vs wireless attachment.  AirPort family of devices will only act in a repeater mode with their own family members, not FiOS routers.  they have to be wired to work.
There are some useful docs you can download from Apple, Support, Manuals, Peripherals, AirPort (just follow thos links from the Support button on the top bar):
    Apple AirPort Networks
    Designing AirPort Networks
    AirPort Express Setup Guide
The last has a diagram of what you are trying to do, though without the house wiring, etc., but the basic principle.

  • Wap4410n asks for an 8 digit code on access point

I am trying to reset up an accesspointandwhen I go to wireless connections and try to connect to it I am asked for an 8 digit number that is supposed to be on the access point.  But there has never been an 8 digit code on the access point.  All that is on there is a serial number, MAC address and a PID VID but no 8 number code.   When I go to 192.168.1.245 in internet explorer it will not connect to it.  Is there any way to get this setup without the 8 digit code?

    Christopher,
The 8 digit code is for WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). You can read about WPS in the help file or the Admin Guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/csbap/wap4410n/administration/guide/WAP4410N_Admin_Guide.pdf
    Please note:
"On the Cisco WAP4410N, firmware 2.0.5.3 and later releases disabled WPS by default for better security protection."
There are known security risks when using WPS, so use it sparingly.

  • How do I use Airport Extreme to create wired access point on wireless network?

Bit of an odd situation. I just went from cable to DSL at home and the modem moved from right by my computer to upstairs.
Trouble is, there's no real easy way to get a cable from the modem upstairs to my X-box (sans wireless connector) downstairs.
I could buy the wireless adaptor for the X-Box, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend any more money.
I have my airport extreme, and I was hoping I could use it to create a wired access point on the network, recieving the signal from the wireless modem upstairs and allowing me to plug in the X-Box.
Is this possible? If so, how? I've been through the config panel about a dozen times, but can't figure out what combination to set up.
    Thanks.

Will it work if I use the express to create the network?
Yes, providing that you have an 802.11n version of the AirPort Express and the Express has been configured to "Allow this network to be extended".
Then, the AirPort Extreme can be configured to "extend" the Express network. When you do this, the AirPort Extreme will provide more wireless coverage and the LAN Ethernet ports are enabled, so you can connect an Ethernet device.
This will not be a "normal" Ethernet connection. It will only work as well as the wireless "hop" between the Express and Extreme allow.
For best results and performance, a wired connection through the hole in the wall is always best. If you decide to do this, you will need the "new" AirPort Express with both a WAN and LAN port on the device. But, you could try wireless first to see if it will meet your goals before you reach for the tools.

  • Using the WAP300N access point in combination with a WES610N Media Bridge

    Here is the situation:
I live on a small farm and have an office separate from my main house.  My current router is a EA4500 and it is located in the office which is approximately 45 feet from the main house.  Current wireless signal strength at the interior wall closest to the office is nominally -55 to -50 dBm but drops off dramatically on the other side of the house.  I currently have a WES610N media bridge on the far side of the house that is supporting a DVR and TV.  The WES610N is receiving signal from the router but it is weak.  Wireless network site survey indicates only 4-6% reception whcih I'm assuming is somewhere around -80 dBm based on measurments I made using a WiFi analyzer app on my tablet.
I had an RE1000 that bit the dust.  What I'd like to do is increase the wireless signal strength in the main house without running a wired connection from the office.  I'm considering purchasing a WAP300N Access Point which will also function as an range externder.  However, I am curious if there is any merit/efficeincy in also buying an additional WES610N Media Bridge an then connecting the WAP300N to the additional WES610N bridge and to allow the WAP300 N to serve as an acutual access point.
Any thoughts on whether that would gain anything or would I be better suited by simply using the WAP300N as an extender??

Your planned bridge - wap combo is better than using a range extender. Using an extender would expand the signal but it would cut the bandwidth into half. So, using the bridge-wap combo, it would expand the range without loosing bandwidth quality. It should be the same setup with an extender from where you'll place the combo at the edge of the wireless signal from your main network. But same rules about wireless signal and connectivity, it is prone to wireless interference.
If your house is running on same circuit line, you can also consider using a powerline adapter. For information about powerline adapter, you can check this Article. It would eliminate deadspots better compared to the previous setup above. But this is just another option that you could take a look at.
    Hope this helps.

  • WRT54G as an access point BY ITSELF

I am a college student. In my room at school, I have a Linksys wireless access point that I plug into the wall. Any computer that connects to the access point wirelessly gets an IP assigned by my college. This is what I wanted because I wanted to be able to use wireless without a router.
My friend has a WRT54G. Is there anyway I can configure this router to act the way my access point does in my room?

it is not possible in the case of WRT54G as you are getting on WAP54G ... as the router will provide Ip address to computer in the range of 192.168.1.1 ..... You can connect it to the Service Provider cable ... & configure it ...

  • WRT54G as Access Point & Intermittent Connectivity

So I followed the advice found here
    http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&message.id=26177
Hooking up a wired router to my WRT54G Router, which I am trying to use as an access point. I've set my LAN IP to 192.168.1.2, disabled DHCP, cables plugged into LAN ports, not the WAN port.I also changed it to Router Mode instead of gateway mode.
The problem is my wired router is my landlord's, and I don't have access to it. Anyway, I can usually connect, but sometimes it disconnects repeatedly, and it seems like i can't keep a connection for more than 5 minutes.
The problem doesn't seem to nearly as bad when I'm plugged directly into the wall (but there have been a couple times when I've gotten disconnected).
My theory is that I may be getting something mixed up with regards to my assigned IP address. When I'm plugged in i'm 192.168.1.108, but when I connect to the wireless, i'm almost always 192.168.1.100, even though there's only one DHCP server on the network. (this is just a guess, though)
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

I've updated the router's firmware I forgot to mention that in the original post. Are you sure regarding the "gateway mode", the little help blurb on the routers settings says that gateway should only be used when the router is the part of the network that deals directly with the wider internet. I am pretty sure I've tried it in both modes and was having this problem, because it was definately Gateway

  • E1000 works behind E3500 as access point but not behind Airlink AR675W and ideas?

In my own home just testing my E1000 works fine as an access point with an E3500 as primary router using Linksys
method 1 (lan-lan connection) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.1.2  and  DHCP off  and with
method 2 (lan-wan) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.2.1 and DHCP On and different wireless SSID.
In my daughters building where I need it, I cannot get the E1000 to work as an access point.  The primary router is an Airlink AR675W with ip 192.168.0.1 (255.255.255.0) delivering addresses 100 to 150.
When i try the E1000 in either method  I get no internet connection on devices connected hardwired or wirelessly to the E1000.  Before each setup I used the reset button and the factory defaults tab
method1 (lan-lan) I set the E1000 to IP 192.168.0.2 to be different than the Airlink and DHCP off.
method2 (lan-wan) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.2.1 and DHCP On and different wireless SSID.
Are there any ideas why I cannot connect to the internet in this way behind the Airlink primary router

ok - i will read up on the airlink - it is a landlord situation but he will probably let me do a few things to it.
Also I see the Airlink admin IP default is 192.168.2.1 and not 192.168.0.1 like I thought so that might make a difference.
I don't know what flash DD-WRT means.  Its a 10 minute drive to the other house. The internet provider is SHAW cable and I do not know the modem but it is probably Motorola SB5100 or SB5102 wired modem.  The problem is it is a large house with concrete walls & floors & double pane windows so the wireless signal downstairs is weak.  ethernet cables are probably ok but I'll take some more with me.  The  ethernet jack downstairs definately works as I can connect a single PC to it.
