Warehouse strategies

Hello great gurus,
i want to know that when we deal with warehouse mgmt and when we deal with picking and putting away strategies, or even storage type search, then all these work is being done at the background (during configration with respect to movement types) or we do some work while posting MIGO as well.
thankyou

Hi Maggi,
While doing inventory movements like goods issue or goods receipt, it will trigger transfer requirements in WM. which has to be converted to transfer order. This transfer order is used to move the goods physically to the bin specified in the warehouse. Then this transfer order will be confirmed after moving to the destination bin. This completes the warehouse movement. From Inventory management perspective once u have done the Migo then it has to be taken care by warehouse personnel for TR/TO and confirmation.

  • Benefits of SAP Business Warehouse Reporting compared with the Query-tools?

    Hello experts,
I've been creating reports with SAP Query tools, but been faced with few problems. First of all, there are restricted possibilities in terms of joining tables, and thus I cannot include all the data required for the report.
One solution for this would have been to create separate queries and join the data together in Excel. The problem with this is that there exists no common field that would make sense as for a selection criterion. If the selection criterion is different in different queries, there is the danger of combining false data together, which would eventually result with distorted data.
So I was wondering, could anyone briefly tell me if SAP Business Warehouse reporting would solve these problems? And what other benefits would it provide compared with the SAP Query? I'd urgently need to know if it would be a beneficial investment for the company, since I haven't found solutions for the problems occurred in the creation of reports.
Thank you in advance for you help!
    Maria

The answers are yes - and thousands of companies have gone down this route
Puttingin BW is a strategic aim of the comapny and not to be thought about and discussed in a BI forum such as this
The costs of implementation and hardware will no doubt make your eyes water.
To be quite honest SAP BI is a "no brainer" as most of the new e-SOA and new R3 modules reply on BW for their reporting needs

  • Transfer between storage types and putaway strategies

    Dear All,
Here is my scenario and please guide me on as detailes as you gurus can on how to proceed achieve this:
When receiving good from a PO the materials are received in 902: How to move them to my Raw materials storage type?
Note: I have defined 4 storages types, one for raw materials, one for production, one for Finished goods and one for spare parts.
And once I move the materials into the warehouse, what strategies do I have to define in order to place the materials in specific bins? Here's an explanation on how I need the putaway:
I have 5 different racks or stacks but I need all materials to be placed in a specific row of the first level, lets say material A in 01-A-01  the first 2 digits are stack then level then row(SS-L-RR); Material B should be placed 01-A-02 Material C 01-A-03; meaning all the materials should be placed in the level A of stack 1 but if there is another recepit of material A and it is already full then the system should propose another bin doesn't matter which one as long as it is not in the first level (because this positions are reserved for other materials).
This is the same for materials D, E, F but those are to be placed in stack 02 in level A
I need this because that's the way my client work right now, it is like Lean manufacturing strategy, so whenever they need to pick materials they always have them available at the lowest level
Is there an automatic bin to bin TO creation for when the picking empty the bin at the lowest level then a TO should be triggered automaticaly saying move from whatever bin the material is available to the "fixed" bin assigned in level A
    Stack 1                         Stack 2
    Level     1     2     3          Level     1     2     3
D     free     free     free          D     free     free     free
C     free     free     free          C     free     free     free
B     free     free     free          B     free     free     free
    A     A     B     C          A     D     E     F
The variable here is that as I said before I have 5 Racks  so in the other 3 stacks doesn't matter the levels, the materials can be placed wherever, and this will happen when receiving material A but all stack 1 is full then system should try to place it in the nearest bin available of stack 2 (only levels B, C, D) or if this is also full, then goes to stack 3 ( all levels available)
Please advise on how to map this, and the transactions and mvt types involved, and also please explain how should I make the picking or removal strategy to propose the picking always from the specific lower level bin, if not enough qty available then go and pick from other bin (and if it is possible at this point to create a TO to refill the fixed lower bin)
    Thanks in advande to all.
    Julio

    Hi,
Try using movement type 313 and 315

  • Picking from warehouse for Consignment Fill Up

    Dear Friends,
For the Consignment Fill Up flow , I am not able to create a transfer order for the delivery.
I am getting the below error :
Data for storage type search is not defined (A   )
But from the same plant, I am able to do picking through transfer order for normal sales order.
Is there any specific setting that needs to be maintained for the Consignment Fill up flow with regard to warehouse setup.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Harsh

    Dear Harsh,
I'm very sorry, I think I misunderstood your question.
    1. You can do outbound delivery (picking+GI) from consignement stock.
    2. You have problem when you want to create TO from TR that was created when goods arrived at your WH.
You said you cannot create TO. I guess you can create TO, your problem is that SAP can't find automatically into which bins to move the goods when you process the TR (are creating the TO). Please confirm it.
(you can give the destination storage typr/bin manually)
If your problem is this you can check your settings:
    SPRO > LE > WM > Strategies > Storage Type Search (+ S. Section Search + S. Bin S.)
Here you can choose 'Determine search sequence' > Please select the relevant line, that you use for the putaway of normal goods > copy it and write 'K' in 'special stock indicator' field.
I do not know your settings but maybe this information can help you to start to resolve the problem you are facing.

  • Data Access Object for Data Warehouse?

    Hi,
Does anyone know how the DAO pattern looks like when it is used for a data warehouse rather than a normal transactional database?
Normally we have something like CustomerDAO or ProductDAO in the DAO pattern, but for data warehouse applications, JOINs are used and multiple tables are queried, for example, a query may contains data from the Customer, Product and Time table, what should the DAO class be named? CustomerProductTimeDAO?? Any difference in other parts of the pattern?
    Thanks in advance.
    SK

In my opinion, there are no differences in the Data Access Object design pattern which have any thing to do with any characteristic of its implementation or the storage format of the data the pattern is designed to function with.
The core pupose of the DAO design pattern is to encapsulate data access code and separate it from the business logic code of the application. A DAO implementation might vary from application to application. The design pattern does not specify any implementation details. A DAO implementation can be applied to group of XML data files, an Excel-based CSV file, a relational database, or an OS file system. The design is the same for all these, it is the implementation that varies.
The core difference between an operational database and a strategic data warehouse is the purpose of why and how the data is used. It is not so much a technical difference. The relational design may vary however, there may be more tables amd ternary relationships in a data warehouse to support more fine-tuned queries; there may be less tables in a operational database to support insert/add efficiencies.
The DAO implementation for a data warehouse would be based on the model of the databases. However the tables are set up, that is how the DAO is coded.

  • Question : Different planning strategies in  SAP PP

    Hi PP gurus ,
    Help me in understanding purpose with suitable example different planning strategies say  Strategy 10 , 11 , 20 , 30 , 26 , 40 and 50 . Find below an
example for which how the above said strategies will act wrt .
Ex :  You have  Unrestricted stock of  say X  = 100 pcs  and stock in quality
             inspection  is X = 10 pcs .
             You have  PIR ( X ) = 100 pcs , Production order( X ) = 50 pcs ,
             Sales order( X )  = 150 pcs , Production order against sales order (X) =150
             pcs , Inprocess (X) = 30 Units , sales order stock (X) = 25 units .
           Thanx in advance
           Regards,
           Raj

    Raj,
Have you gone through the help doc for planning strategies:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/cb/7f9b7043b711d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
    In overall terms:
    In make to stock - 10, 11, 40
In MTS the general stock and general prod orders in warehouse are considered incalculating the net requirement. The diff between 10 and 11 is that in 11 irrespective of Warehouse stock prod takes place as per Planned Ind requirements. But in 10 the warehouse stock is considered.
    In MTO (20/ 50):
The sales order stock and prod order w.r.to sales order aone is considered.
Hope this will give you an overall idea.

  • Putaway strategies issue

    Hello Experts,
I need to redesign the Putaway strategies to make the putaway process better i.e. not to overflow the products even though open bins are available and performance wise better not to take long time with huge items to create Warehouse Order ex: more than 100 items.
When I see existing configuration I found "Specify Storage type search sequence for putaway" table is maintained with combinations as follows:
    1. Whse and Search sequence 2. Whse, WPT and Search sequence 3. Whse, PACI and Search sequence.
And, also in table "Optimization of access for storage type determ. at putaway" selected the check boxes in following order
    1. Stock category 2. Process type 3. Putaway strategy and Process type 4. Putaway strategy
Nothing else considered. Can you please suggest me what else i need to make sure to be part of the configuration and master data(Product) level
    to over come above issues?
Thank you in advance for your time and help.
    Sridhar..

    Hi,
"not to overflow the products even though open bins are available "
I don't really understand what you mean with that.
" performance wise better not to take long time with huge items to create Warehouse Order ex: more than 100 items"
That is very difficult, because it depends on a huge number of factors. One thing to look into is the different settings in EWM where you can activate parallel processing.
"When I see existing configuration I found "Specify Storage type search sequence for putaway" table is maintained with combinations as follows:
    1. Whse and Search sequence 2. Whse, WPT and Search sequence 3. Whse, PACI and Search sequence."
    OK.
"And, also in table "Optimization of access for storage type determ. at putaway" selected the check boxes in following order
1 Stock category 2. Process type 3. Putaway strategy and Process type 4. Putaway strategy"
Why "1 Stock category"? In the list above you have not entry with a specific stock category, so why use the in the access determination?
I suppose with "Putaway strategy" you mean PACI (just see, the column is really named like that).
But why "3 Putaway strategy and Process type"? Again in your combination list you have no combination of PACI + WPT listed. So the entry leads to nothing.
"2. Process type" and "4. Putaway strategy" are ok. Which sequence they are, depends on what you want to have, what is more important to find.
Deleting the entries 1 and 3 probably changes something in the speed, but I can not quantify that.

  • Re : stock removal from warehouse to production

    Hi
While creating good issue to production from warehouse using MB1A with movement typw 261 the stock from storage bin is not removed. While using T-code MMBE t-code the stock is nil. If i use t-code LS24 its shows the stock. I want to remove the stock in warehouse storagebin.
    How to solve this.
    Thanks
    Anto.

    Hi,
    Check the following path,
SPRO-IMG-Logistics Execution-Activities-Transfers-Define Movement Types check here for movement type 261 & also check interim storage type is defined or not.
Also check in search strategy for storage type, storage section, storage bin.
    Path is
SPRO-IMG-Logistics exceution-Search strategies-Activate Storage Type Search,Activate Storage Section Search,Activate Storage Bin Type Search.

  • WM: stock removal strategies

    HI all.
I include a stock removal strategy "F_FIFO" per storage type.
The thing is that when I create a TO for delivery picking or transfer between warehouses TO is created including the origin bin based on this strategy, but how can avoid to follow this strategy when scrapping, for example? Sometimes it is necessary to include manually the origin bin during TO creation or at least, necessary to be changed the one proposed?
    Any idea??
    Thanks!!!!

    Hi,
In my opionion, you shoud try to use one of the following exits:
" MWMTO004 - "Own stock removal strategy" (FIFO strategy)
MWMTO013 - "Own stock removal strategy" (stringent FIFO strategy)"
According to SAP documentation, it is possible, to combine standard strategy with your own stock removal strategy. (look at IMG help: Logistic Execution -> Warehouse management -> Strategies -> Stock Removal Strategies -> Develop Extensions for Picking Strategies".
In order to use your logic implemented in user exit, after implementing user exit, you have to mark field "User exit active" in 'Stock removal control' section of respective Storage Type customizing.
good luck - hope it helps.

  • Warehouse number

    Hi All,
I want to know two things
1.Where can we assign the delivery item to the warehouse number?
2.Where can we see the WM status of the delibery item is "relevant or not relevant".
    I need urgent.
    Thanks&Regards
    Govind.

    Govind,
Your storage type indicator defined in material master WM views decide the strategy to be used for stock removal and stock placement. The strategy definition in SPRO->LE->WM->Strategies decide which storage type the material should be picked from and placed to.
WM status of the delivery line is relavant if he material is being picked from a WM managed storage location. A WM managed storage location is assigned to the warehouse in SPRO->Enterpirse Structure->Assignments->Logistics Execution

  • Batch Determination in Warehouse Management

    Dear Experts,
In the Standard Batch Determination Strategies (WM01 and WM02) there isin't an option to set values in the section of "Batch Split, Quanity Proposal and Presentation". Could anyone explain why this is not there ? or what is to be done to have those sections in the Strategy ? On the other hand, Sales/Distribution Stragety types has all the above settings.
    Any reply is much appreciated.
    Many Thanks
    Suresh Subramanian

    Dear Steve,
Many Thanks for your quick reply.
To explain more about our Requirement.........
Our requirement is to pick the Batch from the Warehouse, with a set of conditions described below. In our Project, the goods are packed and sold in the Sales AUoM. In the WH, the goods are packed in the Storage Unit that represents the AUoM. For instance, in a Sales Order the AUoM = J01 = 25 KG, the goods in the WH could be packed in SUT = J01 = 25 KG and also in other SUT of different quantities.
All the following conditions must be met before a Quant is selected from the WH
    01. Standard Batch Selection criteria (based on Classification etc)
    02. The Sales UoM, that is adopted from the Sales Order / Delivery must be = SUT of the Quant that is selected.
    03. The number of Batch selected in the WH Strategy must be restricted to 2/3
    04. Possibility of dialog box in the Batch Determination.
At the moment, we have activated a user-Exit in the Picking Strategy of the Storage type to select a Quant that has the SUT = Sales UoM adopted from the Delivery, the only missing element now is the above points 03 and 04.
    Hope i have described enough.
    Awaiting an answer from Experts........

  • EWM Mass Create Warehouse Products

    Hello
I am prototyping an EWM system and have transferred master data over from the linked ERP system via the CIF. All is fine except that this only created products and I have to manually create warehouse products afterwards.
Is there no standard method to automate or mass create these warehouse products? With 10 products it is fine but what about when thousands are needed for a live system?

Hi have searched everywhere to see if any SAP notes/tips from the users to create this Warehouse product view automatically from the CIF.  I couldn't find anything yet.
For EWM, we need the warehouse view for maintaining Removal/Putaway strategies.
We are creating it manually with /SCWM/MAT1.  If nothing available, maybe we just write a program to check the /SAPAPO/MATKEY and the /SAPAPO/MATLWH and then call the transaction to create it?
