WARize and EARize Weblogic C&P Server 3.52
Can we package the different web-applications (tools, exampleportal, wlcs, defaultWebApp ) contained in wlcsApp in WAR-files and then, package the whole distribution into a single EAR-file ?

IPlanet 4.1 and Weblogic 5.1 Server
Hello,
Is the NSAPI plugin provided with Weblogic 5.1 Server compatible with
iPlanet 4.1? The Weblogic documentation doesn't seem to be clear to me on
this one. We plan to run in this setup on Solaris 8.
Any details on this are appreciated.
Thanks in advance and Best Regards,
Venkat K.The certification was recently completed. It is in the process of being
placed on the web site. At that point, it will be officially supported.
Thanks,
Michael

Oracle ifs and BEA weblogic
We have one application server with weblogic and and ifs 1.0.9 , and one db server with Oracle 8.1.7.
with the following configuration:
Web server
appl server with weblogic 6.0 and ifs 1.1.9
Oracle 8i Enterprise with interMedia text
We need to use the iFS API call for our application.
As I know, weblogic 6.0 support JDK1.3 but ifs 1.1.9 supports up to JDK1.2.
Is this configuration possible?
Any conflict if two version JDK co-exist inside same machine?
Any suggestion?
If I separate the appl. server into two machines, that is,
one server installed with weblogic, the other one installed with ifs.
How could I make use the ifs API call from appl. server?
Is there any configuration guides for this setting?
Thanks a lot.

The iFS API is 100% pure Java. You can use it from any other Java application, be it JSP, EJB, or a standalone application.
So it really comes down to the CLASSPATH. The iFS API is split among a set of .jar files, and some of the configuration information is stored in .properties files that are outside of these .jar files. All of this stuff needs to be in the CLASSPATH of whatever JVM is calling the iFS API.
The iFS API uses the Oracle JDBC driver to communicate with the Oracle database. This is another requirement. You can't use another JDBC driver; you have to use ours.
So again, it's all about configuration.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Would you mind to share more detail on configurating weblogic to integrate the iFS API?

How to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to WebLogic 10.3 server?
Hi,
I have just enabled security in our ADF 11g application, as descripbed in [chapter 29|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#insertedID0] of the Fusion Developer's Guide. It works fine in the embedded WebLogic server of JDeveloper.
Now I'm trying to deploy to our WebLogic 10.3 server, which runs in production mode. I'm running into all sorts of problems. The WebLogic console seems to have hundreds of security related pages, I don't know which one I should use, let alone how to use it. The Fusion Developer's Guide doesn't cover deployment to a production server:
>
When the target server is configured for production mode, you typically handle the migration task outside of JDeveloper using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager. For details about using tools outside of JDeveloper to migrate the policy store to the domain-level in a production environment, see the [Oracle Fusion Middleware Security Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/toc.htm].
>
However, this guide is of very little help to me. I found [chapter 7|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/addlsecfea.htm#insertedID0], which says "The recommended tool is Fusion Middleware Control." I have no idea what "Fusion Middleware Control" is, where to get it and how to use it.
Long story short: I'm totally lost. I'm looking for a step by step guide on how to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to a WegLogic 10.3 server that is running in production mode. Any help is highly appreciated.Ok, I found a [very helpful blog post |http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/01/practical-adf-security-deployment-on.html] by [Andrejus Baranovski|http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468230464412457426]. I wish Oracle's documentation was as clear as this...
The blog post refers to an article by Steve Muench, called [Simplified ADF 11g Application Credential and Policy Migration to Standalone WebLogic Servers|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html]. This article presents an Ant script that migrates policies from JDeveloper to WebLogic, using some PFM. (See the last definition here.)
The problem is that Steve Muench's script assumes that JDeveloper and the standalone WebLogic are on the same machine. However, in a typical environment, such as the one I'm working in currently, this is not the case. In our case the developer stations are Windows machines, while our WebLogic server runs on a HP-UX machine. So the question is: how to perform this migration between two machines with different operating systems?

Taking long time to start when weblogic 11g admin server
Hi

$HOME/Middleware/user_projects/domains/soa_domain/startWebLogic.sh -Dweblogic.management.username=weblogic -Dweblogic.management.password=weblogic$123 > server.log &
Please help me out.

SOA SUIT 11g (64-bit) Installed
SYStem COnfiguration:
RAM 4 GB
HDD 160 GB (Single Partition)
Core 2 duo Processor
Thanks
PhaniHow much memory have you configured for the servers?
When the memory (Xmx and Xms - JVM parameters) is too small start-up times can get long.
I saw that you have SOA environment. To tune your environment this link might help: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=6040 -
Weblogic 8.1 Server log size increase in Production environment
Hi,
Issue:: One of the log file is increasing in size and exceeding beyond the size mentioned in the configuration file resulting in application outage.
Issue description:
We are having problems with the log size in the Weblogic 8.1 server. The fileminsize has been mentioned in the config.xml.
New log files like MYsvr.log00001,MYsvr.log00002, MYsvr.log00003, MYsvr.log00004 etc are also being generated appropriately when the max file size has been reached. But simultaneously, one of the files is growing in size, exceeding the limit mentioned in the configuration file. Eg.. the MYsvr.log00001 file is 800MB in size while the other files(MYsvr.log00002, MYsvr.log00003 etc are 10MB in size)
This increase in size of the log has been resulting in an application outage.
More Details:
1. Server: BEA Weblogic 8.1 server
2. Log size is fine in other environements. This is a problem only in the production environment.
3. The entry in the config.xml is as follows:
<Server ListenPort="6313" Name="MYsvr" NativeIOEnabled="true" TransactionLogFilePrefix="./">
<ServerStart Name="MYsvr"/>
<Log FileMinSize="10000" FileName="MYsvr.log" Name="MYsvr"
NumberOfFilesLimited="true" RotationType="bySize"/>
<SSL Name="MYsvr"/>
<ServerDebug Name="MYsvr"/>
<WebServer Name="MYsvr"/>
<ExecuteQueue Name="default" ThreadCount="15"/>
<KernelDebug Name="MYsvr"/>
</Server>
Could you please help with this issue ?
Thank you.Can someone please provide a solution for the issue

Transaction in Weblogic 5.1 Server
Hi All,
Can any one tell me How to set XA DataSource details in weblogic.properties
file in weblogic 5.1 server.
Thanx
Ramana Murthy
While they aren't java-specific, if you're looking for XA/2PC details,
these 2 are good:
Transaction Processing: Concepts and Techniques (Morgan Kaufmann Series
in Data Management Systems)
by Jim Gray, Andreas Reuter
Principles of Transaction Processing
by Philip A. Bernstein, Eric Newcomer (Contributor)
5.1 does not support XA or 2 phase-commit. However, it does allow
multiple cluster members to enlist in the same transaction as long as
all database access goes through the same JDBC connection.
WLS 6.0 and later do support XA and 2PC.

Smtp and pop3 host and port name of gmail server?????
can any body give me smtp and pop3 host and port name of gmail server?????to send a mail......
Just do a new initial context and lookup the datasource, in case you need other info like host name and port you can use MBEans like:
InitialContext ctx = null;
// fetch managed server name by accessing the
// RuntimeServerMBean using the
// MBeanServer interface
ctx = new InitialContext();
MBeanServer server = (MBeanServer) ctx
.lookup("java:comp/env/jmx/runtime");
ObjectName service = new ObjectName(
"com.bea:Name=RuntimeService,Type=weblogic.management.mbeanservers.runtime.RuntimeServiceMBean");
managedServerName = (String) server.getAttribute(service,
"ServerName"); -
P6 R8 And The WebLogic Advantage
Hi,
I am going deeply within WLS in the last month and this brought me to some things about the relationship of P6 and WLS. I think that WebLogic is a really tough as platform to base P6 in large environments. I am starting to appreciate the response time and the picture we can have of whatever is going on.
The point is that WebLogic cannot be conceived as a tool or a mean to run something else. This is a valid approach for solutions like JBoss 5.0.1 used to run P6 Web up to P6 v7. With WebLogic the application server administration skills and knowledge should need to be considered upfront of the implementation.
Practically, the checklist should start with the question:
- do we have a professional to manage Weblogic?
Fabio D'Alfonso
http://www.fabiodalfonso.comHi,
yes that is the summary.
I have experience with P6 Web v7 and have chosen at that time JBoss. The v7 runs on JBoss 5.0.1. I found that the best solution because the JBoss has a small footprint and having no administration interface was ideal to "stay behind" the scenes. I managed to run P6 Web, P6 Web Services, P6 Progress Reporter, Contract Management, on a single instance of JBoss, using the port sets for P6 and the arbitrary choice for the CM port. Also, using Firedeamon, got servers running as services and detached from the console (no stop of services logging off).
Solved the various problem I forgot the existence of JBoss. The only thing to remember is to monitor the tmp folders within domains, growing time by time (and Gigabyte by Gigabyte).
I would have never thought to WebLogic as an alternative to Jboss in the described scenario. Consistently I got started with WebLogic in the process of getting knowledge of SOA Suite with the of a robust list of books:
*> J2EE Developer Handbook*
*> J2EE in 21 (LONG) Days*
*> Oracle Professional WebLogic Server*
*> Getting Started with SOA 11g*
(total of 4,000 pages)
Starting to appreciate the WebLogic environment in the context of J2EE application frameworks as SOA, shows the complexity and the unique features in the flavour of solutions to architectural challenges. I think that convergence of P6 and WebLogic requires an upfront existing framework and experienced administrators, that are able solve P6 application problems in a hosting platform perspective, as WebLogic is for managed servers.
Otherwise the first issue will quickly become a disaster.

-KarunHave you specify relative path or full of weblogic startup script? How's permission for user invoking startup script?
Excerpt from the docs as below:
Startup Script Location: Enter the full path to the startup script that is used to start your BEA WebLogic Server instance.
Have you installed the agent on the admin server instead of the managed server? It should be managed server.
Is this WebLogic clustered environment ? If it is a clustered setup; then you need to follow some specific steps to configure the managed servers. You are better off installing the agent on a managed server and copy the agent changes (CLASSPATH and JAVA_OPTIONS) to all the server instances. Some folks also prefer to copy these changes in commEnv.sh (easy way out) but we do not recommend this route since the server related JAVA_OPTIONS can be specific to each BEA server instance. Please note that the agent installer does not understand the template of admin server script. So, for a clustered environment :
1. Remove the present agent, restore the admin server script.
2. Install the agent on a managed server.
3. If there are more than one managed servers, put the agent startup script related changes manually in each of the managed servers.
4. Also note that you can start managed servers from console or command line. Depending on where you start managed servers, you will have to copy the agent changes to the respective files.
If it is not a clustered environment; follow 1 and 2 only. Could try it out and let us know what are your findings? Jerry -
How to set Weblogic 5.1 server to display UTF8 characters
Hi all,
Does anybody know how to set up Weblogic 5.1 server in order to display UTF8
characters such as Japanese characters?
I am able to display utf8 in Tomcat but not in Weblogic. All I did for
Tomcat is to change the content type of the servlets.
Thank you for your help.
DanhDO you have servlets which print utf-8 data to the client?
If yes then you can just call response.setContentType("text/html;
charset=UTF-8");
and the response will look as expected.
for jsps :
<%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" %> should do the trick.

Mulitple WebLogic Installations One Server
Planning to install Oracle Forms Builder 11g on existing server for all developers to use. Already have a WebLogic and Fusion MIddleware Forms installation on the server for the ERP system we use, but want a separate installation for developers with different "user" so they can access and use the Forms builder. I do not want them to have access to current application or user. Is it advisable or possible to do a completely new and separate WebLogic/Forms installation with different oracle user on the same server?
Have been researching this but all I seem to find is that I can create new domains in the same MIddleware home, but want a completely separate WebLogic installation for security reasons.
Thank you
CurtHi Curt,
You can install a new Middleware home (with fresh install of weblogic) for your Oracle Forms Builder 11g on the same server.
You can use different Oracle user for this.
So in this case everything is different, Middleware home , oracle home and even the domain.
Thanks,
Sharmela
