Warn me when a website tries to redirect me blocks

"Warn me websites try to redirect of reload the page" option when checked in firefox 23.0.1 doesn't warn when pages redirect it simply blocks the pages. this is rather frustrating as previously it did work properly and I would get a pop up warning in the yellow ribbon that would tell me it was trying to redirect and give me the option to allow or block.
However it no longer seems to do this as websites that used to work for me no longer do, and I have been informed by the devs of those sites that the problem is the "Warn me when websites try to redirect...." option as their sites work when the box is unchecked, but not when it is checked.
This is rather frustrating because the option was useful previously on unknown sites by warning me with the yellow ribbon and letting me choose whether or not to allow the redirect. It no longer does this. is this a bug or is there some setting I need to change to fix this problem? Any help is appreciated.

This is the main site I am recurringly having problems with whom the devs have told me that this option was the problem: http://u.eq2wire.com/
it happens whenever I do a form submission, in this case it a login or a search on the site. The same problem has happened on other sites as well but not ones I frequent.
I am not seeing a shield or anything. In this particular case I type in search criteria, hit enter and get sent to a blank white page. I have tried turning off the option and the page does work fine when it is turned off as the site devs said it would.
I had not realized this was a feature for persons with disabilities. If that is the case then I should be able to safely turn it off without issue.

  • Ho do I disconnect the "warning" of a web page trying to redirect from the "Firefox did not allow this page to reload"? I want the first, but not the second option.

    The new firefox now does not allow many pages to reload. I must click the "allow" button and still it often does not allow a reload. I know I can disable the function, but then I must also disable the warning if a page tries to redirect to a new site. So...Why must I give up a security feature to get rid of an annoying reload issue? I want to be notified when a page tries to redirect, but I don't want an "argument" from the system every time I try to reload specific web sites. How can I keep one and disable the other?

    you need to encode the href so that it can be sent as a parameter value. Otherwise it interprets the & as a standard parameter separator.
    I believe the window.escape function should do this
    var urlValue = window.escape(location.href)

  • Hi, I'm making hyperlinks. They work for the main page of the webpage, but when I'm trying to redirect the hyperlink to a "sub page" of the webpage it is still going to the main page. (allthough I'm pasting the complete url address)

    Hi, I'm making hyperlinks. They work for the main page of the webpage, but when I'm trying to redirect the hyperlink to a "sub page" of the webpage it is still going to the main page. (allthough I'm pasting the complete url address)

    Hi! first of all, thank you so much for your help.
    I don't know about that panel you are talking about.
    what I do is RIGHT CLICK, INTERACTIVE, NEW HYPERLINK, and a window pops up, where I paste the address (images).
    Where says URL I paste the complete address that the "sub page" gives me.
    Is that correct? (for the main page of the wabepage works correctly)
    thanks!!!

  • I am getting a warning message when i am trying to create a host-named sitecollection.

    Hi guys,
          I am trying to create a host-named site collection. I have created the root site collection. After that i have tried to create customer root site. I have doing this process with the guidance of this link.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc424952.aspx#section2a
    When i tried to create a customer root site. I am getting a warning message
    " WARNING: The port specified for the new host header site does not match any known bindings in the specified Web
    Application.  The new site will not be accessible if the Web Application is not extended to an IIS Web Site serving
    this port."
    I couldn't when this warning message comes. I tried to bind the server with webapplication which is created for host-named site collection. No use.
    Can anyone help me to solve. And i wanna know why this error message comes!!!
    Thanks in advance
    Rajendran.

    First, you shouldn't create a host named site collection on a Web app that has host header named.  Doing that implements host names at two different levels and will not work reliably.  Second I'm not sure what you mean when you say you didn't
    use the FQDN but used just the domain name.  A Full url will always be either an FQDN or a shorter Netbios name.  If you use a Netbios name it simply assumes the local AD domain of the workstation to create an FQDN as the url  There is no way
    to use just the domain name.  For example, Contoso.com is the domain name.  Server.contoso.com or WEbsite.contoso.com are FQDNs.  YOu can also use a shorter version that is just server or website, but when those resolve in TCP/IP they would
    still resolve using server.contoso.com or website.contoso.com if the workstation where your browser is was in the contoso.com domain.  What is the URL for your root site and your host named site?

  • Would like option 'Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload a page'.

    I switched to Firefox from IE on my Samsung Galaxy note 4 - I read that firefox could help with this problem. Facebook is automatically refreshing. Need it to stop. Thanks.

    HI,
    IE is not available on the Note 4, and this option is only available on the desktop version of Firefox.
    I also could not find an addon that gives a warning of a refresh in the Android version of Firefox.
    However there is one in Accessibility setting of Desktop under Options.

  • Increase the time warn me when websites try to redirect or reload warnings are shown for

    I need more time to select allow on the warning bar that drops down when a site tries to redirect or reload the page.
    I have some sites I want to allow and the warning disappears to fast for me to click on.

    There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.
    If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  • Websites that "redirect" are blocked until "allowed" by user. Previously, could permanently choose to always allow certain websites

    I recall that earlier version of firefox had a drop-down menu which appeared when a site tried to redirect. This menu gave choice of "allow", "always allow" or "never allow" redirect from this site. The current version of firefox only gives a choice to "allow" (or the site won't load). This kind of encounter is frequent with bank sites and other sites that redirect for log-in security reasons. If I "allow" the redirect, a security question page is provided by the website before it redirects to the actual secure log-in site. This process is slightly time-consuming and I would like to be able to avoid it.

  • Trying to redirect using "Allow".

    Get the message that "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." Hi, I’m trying to find the “keyboard” keys which will allow me to indicate that it is OK to allow Firefox to re-direct to another page. I’ve tried “CTRL”-A, “Shift” – A, and “CTRL”, “SHIFT” – A. Because of only having one hand I’d prefer not to use the mouse or the touchpad. Thanks for your help, Mark

  • I get a message bar saying "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." How can I find out what page it was trying to redirect to so I know whether I want to "allow" it or not?

    I've used Firefox for a long time, but recently this message started appearing every time I open Firefox.

    See:
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
    The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • Website from Aperature is being blocked as porographic

    Websites generated by Aperture are being blocked by our companies filter and being labeled as pornographic. Needless to say, they're not in the least bit pornographic. We've contacted IT to allow the site but I post here to try to figure out why that would happen.
    The service we seem to use is called Blue Coat but I have no idea how it decides what's offensive and what isn't. There's nothing offensive in the names we've used for the images. The images themselves are not offensive or even questionable.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this?

  • Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page

    Everytime I logon to firefox, I get this message:- "warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page".
    I then go to "Tools/options/Advanced/General/Accessibility" and uncheck the box, why can't I uncheck once and not have to do it again?
    It is annoying to have to repeat the uncheck option everytime.

    There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.

    If you are being re-directed to other sites, particularly when searching, this can be caused by malware. Try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Malwarebytes]
    * [http://www.superantispyware.com/ SUPERAntiSpyware]
    * [http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php Ad-Aware]
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx Windows Defender]
    * [http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html Spybot S&D]
    If the above malware scanners do not find any malware or can not clear it, you should consider posting in one of these forums for specialized malware removal help:

  • An unknown website just appeared in my 'exceptions' list (Tools Options Security "warn me when sites try to install add-ons"-how could this happen?

    downloaded Firefox onto friends' laptop last night. Found it necessary to place two websites in the (afore-mentioned) "Exceptions" category. shut down/re-booted three-four times over the next few hours before shutting down the laptop and going to bed. Booted up this am and, WHOA!-suddenly my menu/toolbars have new, undesired toolbars(?) search boxes(?): the search box, if I remember right, was labeled "My Web Search sponsored by iwon!" Whilst eliminating the intruders I became aware that by some unknown means I had fetched up on some webpage I've never heard of and had no reason to go to-( the very top of my display (above the menu and address bar) read: 'reason upgrade Search' (separated by a line symbol I can't reproduce here), then 'Musician's Friend' ....HUH? (feeling like Dorothy w/o a tornado transport). So I finish getting rid of the invaders and check out my History to try to figure out how I wound up at this website. my history indicates the last site I visited before going to bed, then 'aclk' (www.google/aclk? followed by a string of mixed symbols letters etc. Then 'redirect' (www.rkdms.com/redirect?c=....and a string of numbers and letters. Then the website"reason upgrade Search (?) Musician's Friend " then 'redirect.jhtml' (www.search.mywebsearch.com/mywe.........) Them 'Firefox Web Browser& Thunder....' still no clue how or why I wound up at that site..didn't go there, (not of my volition, anyways!!) so im checking my security settings and in Tools>options>Security>advanced> in the "Exceptions" category of "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons" is a website I've never heard of (getpersonas.com) and DID NOT enter!!!!!!!.Need to know how this could happen, how to prevent recurrence and how hard should I hit the panic button because right now I'm totally freaked!
    == today

    These prefs get set to an empty String once the sites have been added to the whitelist if the pref is not empty if you open the exception window.
    Tools > Options > Security : "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons": Exceptions
    You can reset these prefs on the about:config page.
    xpinstall.whitelist.add - addons.mozilla.org
    xpinstall.whitelist.add.36 - getpersonas.com
    To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
