Warn people that Flash updater tries to install Chrome Browser

Please note that the Flash updater tries to automatically install Google Chrome browser by default. Maybe the FF update checker could warn people about this, that they need to un-select this when they click on the update link to Adobe.

Ok, I decided to try re-installing one more time and I'm not
sure why but this time it worked.
That "copy to" message threw me off, but I think the line
that just registered the components on my computer should have
worked, but for some reason it didn't at first so I thought Flash
was only going to the network drive.
Having those lines in the installer is really confusing
especially without an error "can't write to disk" or similar.
It's installed now, I believe if the installer came with
options it'd make it a lot easier/less confusing.

That's a good question. I may have installed FP 10.1 Beta in many of the attempts to resolve the issue. I've scanned my registry for any reference to Flash and removed anything that remotely resembles Flash Player (of course backing up Registry first). I've run uninstall_flash_player.exe, which doesn't appear to do anything. I've checked logs and there's no reference to Flash Player being installed.
When I go to the link provided ( http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) I get the messageThe version of Adobe® Flash® Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version. and when I look at the log (install.log) I see an attempt to install Flash Player. • "The version of the Player that you are trying to install is lower than what is currently installed" when installing 14.0.0.176

I've been deploying flash updates thru SCCM for a long time using the MSI.  With this update, many computers updated successfully, but about 200+ of them failed.  Each computer I have looked at has the message "Product: Adobe Flash Player 14 ActiveX -- The version of the Player that you are trying to install is lower than what is currently installed." in event viewer.  Attempting a manual install of the MSI produces a similar interactive message.  The current installed version is definitely older than the one I am attempting to install.  I am only able to re-mediate by manually uninstalling, and then installing 14.0.0.176.  I could script and deploy an uninstaller, but I would rather the bug with the MSI be fixed.

    Dear María,
Finally, I have been able to reproduce the error, both in ActiveX and plugin installers updating from version 15.0.0.246.
    Here you have the logs:

Update tries to install on drive I don't have. What do I do?

    Brucebre,
I am very sorry, but full versions of the ZoomBrowser program and other software originally packaged with your camera are not available for download.  In order to install the software, you will need the original Solutions Disc and a CD/DVD-ROM drive.

  • The version that you are trying to install is not the most current version

I have multiple snapshots of this one. I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player on a Windows7 64bit machine from adobe.com. I keep getting the following error:
The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit (adobewebsite) to obtain the latest, most secure version.
This is the message that I am getting from Adobe.com website!
I tried uninstalling multiple times + reinstalling, same error. I tried offline installing, same error (is not the most current version).
    Help?

Hi, It may be helpful if you read over this troubleshooting guide by Adobe.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
If you decide to Uninstall and Install again, I would use the "executable" which you can download to your Desktop.
Have you previously installed any beta version? I'm sure you know you need to use the 32bit browser since Flash Player
is not supported on the 64bit.
The Anti-Virus/Firewall, Security Settings for IE, Permission requirement are important. Also the necessity of Rebooting twice after the Uninstall for IE, to make sure old files are removed.
If you have any questions, just post back.
    Thanks,

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.

  • Flash Player tries to install to Opera on a Network drive

I had to update Flash Player, and I ran the uninstaller, and
when I went reinstall it the installer reports "Copy to:
Z:/Opera..." Z is a network drive and I've NEVER used Opera on this
computer, the folder only exists on the other computer.
My problem is Flash acts like it's installed but even after
disconneting the Z: drive it still tries to install flash to a
browser I never use on a drive that no longer exists. I have no
idea why it decided to use Opera install of Firefox without
notifying or asking me, and I have no idea how to get it to install
to Firefox on the C: drive.
Any help? this is really bugging me.

  • Flash update won't install

Tried to install the update several times, if failed halfway through each time. I uninstalled Flash, but I can't seem to reinstall it. When I go to teh product download page and click Download, It simply opens the Creative Clouid panel, which shows Flash CC is "up to date" But the app is uninstalled. Mac Pro 10.7.5, 2 x 3GHz Quad core intel xeon. Thanks for any instruction.

same here. gets to about 51% and fails. The message reads:
    Update Failed
Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press Retry to download again.

Tried probably a dozen times now.

    Hi,
Download and Install the latest version of Adobe Application Manager from the below link :
    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774
Try to install the update now and check.
If error still persists, Rename the OOBE folder to OOBE OLD from
    Mac: MAC HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Win: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\
->Install AAM again and try to launch.
    Thanks
