Warning 10.4.3 upgrade delete System & Users Squirrelmail config files.

Just installed the 10.4.3 upgrade.
After the upgrade was done I noticed WebMail settings was back to default.
So I had to set everything up again.
But what makes me angry is all the users preferences has been reset aswell.
I haven't read anything about this before I upgraded.
Makes me angry!

Thanks for bringing this up... I'll keep a close eye on my upgrades....
This is also a good reminder for everyone to have a previous-state clone available for such a case....

  • Second system User cannot see files for first system User

For reasons too complex to go into, I had to set up a second system User. (Okay, an Apple tech at the Apple Genius Bar did this, to fix corrupted Apple Mail)
I am both Users. Both are admins.
According to the documentation, User2 should be able to see files belonging to User1 (and vice versa, I presume), but this is not happening. It looks like I have to manually transfer files from User1 to User2. (Once I do this, I will abandon User1, so I don't have to keep them in sync.)
How to set up so User2 has access to User1's files (and vice versa)?

Once you enable sharing, you use the Finder window to go to the other user home folder/directory. For example, if you're logged in as user1 and you want to see the user2 tree, just tell Finder to open /Users/user2 (via the Go command). This assumes that all your user folders are located in /Users - if you have for example a separate disk for user folders then you would substitute that volume name - for example you have all your user home directories on /Volumes/Users, you would tell the Go command /Volumes/Users/user2
Also, just to make something clear - don't spread your files across the two user accounts - copy all the stuff from both into one of the user accounts and then when you have everything you need, you can get rid of the account that is no longer needed. The only problem you might run into is that you have files owned by an account that is different from where they are physically located. But if you copy things (don't move them - copy them) you should not run into this issue. But if you do run into this issue, it is easily resolved with a couple of Terminal commands usually. Do you know how to copy things with Finder as opposed to move them?
    Does that help?

  • Server 10.5.7 upgrade deleted all user and group Info -- Receiving error -1

After upgrading our Dual 2.0 G5 server that was running 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 all groups and user information lost access. In addition when starting the workgroup manager error -14008 appears. Also when we look into the console log the following shows up
------------com.apple.launchd[1] (edu.mit.kadmind) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    over and over
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked into A&I more, maybe it's not as nuclear as I thought. I presumed it meant I needed to reinstall all non-apple Apps, which means digging up disks and codes, none of which I have here. I'm away from home for another 4 weeks, which means doing that is difficult.
Being away is also why my back-up is a little out of date, I didn't bring the time machine drive for that MBP with me. I had it shipped to me as soon as I had problems, but the back-up I'd have to roll back to is now 1-2 weeks old and might still have the funky user:group problems since my timezone problems began before the 10.5.7 update.
I think DiskWarrior may of finally repaired the user:group issues. Not 100% sure but it's looking better. I just noticed that the primary user is admin but User is 502 and Group is 502. Whereas my secondary user account (also Admin) on that MBP User is 501 and Group is 20. My recollection is 20 is staff and both users groups should be 20.
I'll look into A&I more, probably do it when I get home.
    Thanks.

  • Using system properties in config file.

    HI,
Does anybody know how we can declare System properties in OC4J.
I am talking about using System.getProperty() in java classes.
I need to use this to capture my context realtive path in log4j properties file.

    JavaSiva,
If you are using OC4J stand-alone, there are two ways (I know of) to define "System" properties:
    * Use "-D" option of "java" command when launching OC4J
    * Use "-p" switch recognized by "oc4j.jar" when launching OC4J
Note that I haven't tried OC4J stand-alone developer's preview 10.1.3.1.0 so I don't know if the above is still correct for that version, but it is for every version prior to that one.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Automatically Deleting Users from Oracle Files

    Hi,
We have written code to add/remove users in the OID.
Deleting in OID works fine but the user remains in OF.
Is there configuration setting to cascade the deletion request to Oracle Files?
Is there away to programmatically delete the user from Oracle files?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Kate
I have the same problem than you : my users also appears in the approbation paths.
Also, how did you delete a lot of users ? Manually ? Is there a way to mass delete users, instead of deleting them 1 by 1 ?

  • Oracle instance running on a system with low open file descriptor

    Hello.
We have 10.1.0.4 on SuSE 9 on x86 64bit Sun servers.
We have databases that if started manually come up without the warning, but if started via a shell script scheduled through a crontab start up with this warning: "Oracle instance running on a system with low open file descriptor".
My understanding is that it has to do with OS ulimit. it appears that non-interactive shell (crontab) does not set the nofiles at 65536.
All our system are set up exactly the same way. The problem is, though, that some systems do not report the warning even when started non-interactively.
My question is this: assuming my nofiles ulimit is in fact too low on all systems, why would some systems report the warning and others would not? Is there anything database specific the instance looks for when it starts, such as the number of datafiles in the database, instance memory size, etc..., which would make the instance warn in some cases but not the others?
    Thank You
    Boris

    Thank You Satish.
This is a good reference and we may end up looking into the patch bundle associated with the bug.
But does anyone have any idea why the systems that are set up the same exact way would warn on systems and not on others?
Also, the Metalink note talks about init.crsd. I have not build an association between this inconsistency and RAC.
What I do see is that if we start up our database non-interactively (where ulimit -n resolves to 1024, instead of 65536) the warning is generated, in some cases.
Perhaps, the 1024 is too low. But then my question is why would Oracle think it is too low only on some servers and not all?

  • Upgrading Controller and Config Files

    Hello,
I am upgrading my 4402 controller from 4.1.171.0 to 4.2.130. It says I need to save my current config because it will get dumped when I do the upgrade. What extension type do I save the config files as? It does not state this anywhere...
Cisco sure doesn't make this process very easy. Save config file. Upgrade code. Download saved config file to controller. Hope nothing gets corrupted with all that and hope everything is re-enabled and configured like it was before upgrade? Seems like a lot can go wrong...

    Jerome,
This is from the 4.2.112.0 release notes:
In controller software 4.2, the controller's bootup configuration file is stored in an Extensible Markup
Language (XML) format rather than in binary format. Therefore, you cannot download a binary
configuration file onto a controller running software release 4.2. However, when you upgrade a
controller from a previous software release to 4.2, the configuration file is migrated and converted to
    XML.
This conflicts with what Cisco states earlier in their documentation. I thought when you upgrade it wipes everything and you loser your current config? After reading this section I gather that I only lose the running config and that it will upgrade the config stored in NVRAM? That all makes a lot more sense than what they say earlier in the guide. Once I do the upgrade I can't impor the old config due to it being in the wrong format.
So in closing this mess my take is that I just need to upload the new software image to the controller. It will load the new software version and then convert the existing config in NVRAM into the new .xml format? Yes?

  • How to 'Remove' user access from deleted dual boot system's users in existing operating system's folders and files?

I have Windows 7 Enterprise Professional, accessed earlier from (now deleted) other dual boot operating system (User folder), which shows it's users as unknowns for folder properties in Windows 7 Enterprise Professional's "C:\Users\Aniruddha",
which causes system not responding, how to 'Remove' these unknown users from folder properties of "C:\Users\Aniruddha"?
Also "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data" creates many of own folders within eachselfs end folder ("C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data" creates a "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data\Application Data", "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application
Data\Application Data" creates a "C:\Users\Aniruddha\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data" and many) because of which system stops responding randomly, starts responding only for "ctrl+alt+del", why such self
    creation begins?
Whether a standby user with same file structure copied from a user would dynamically link it's shortcut folders with Windows user from whom these folders were copied or whether there would be no link and for above said problem I would restore User's file structre
back to normal just by copying from standby user?

It seems your PC is infected with some malware. Use a trusted antivirus software with the latest definition updates installed to scan and remove the malware.
