Warning about buying the Charger Dock for K1

If you are thinking about buying the Charger Dock (p/n 78Y7330), be forewarned - it does not charge your K1 tablet!
The illustration on the Lenovo website clearly shows that the cable which comes with the Charger Dock ends in an AC adapter wall plug (North American style plug). However, the unit I received only came with a 6" cable which ends in a female dock connector. You must attach it to the charger cable that came with your tablet if you want to use the Charger Dock to actually charge thw tablet!
So if you thought that buying this would give you a charging solution at home as well as on the road, you're out of luck.

@remn:
There is no female USB connection on the dock. The connection is the same wide proprietory female connector found on the tablet itself. Functionally, this dock is merely a connector-extender.
What I can try is to plug the USB data cable into the dock instead of the power cable, and see if that changes the way the K1 appears fo a PC. I'll try it over the weekend, but don't get your hopes up that this will be the host cable solution you're looking for.

I've been reading the comments re FCPX on MacBook Pro and now I'm scared. I'm taking a class in FCPX and thinking about buying to do videos for nonprofits. Won't be fancy stuff, but now wonder if it's a good choice. Also, a classmate who was in CA last weekend said he heard that Apple will drop support of FCPX. Any truth? Advice?. I'm on 10.7.4 with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz. Thanks.

While it is against the TOU of these boards to speculate on future products/updates what Thomas said is right: FCPX is quite a new product and it doesn't make any sense to drop it now.
The only thing that MIGHT get dropped at a certain point is support for older hardware/OS as FCP X progresses.

  • I received a car charger for xmas. I have an iPhone 4. Is there a difference in the charging dock between the older and newer iphones? I don't want to damage it by shoving a cable in that is designed for a newer model.

  • Charging Docks For The iPhone

folks i could really use some help finding a charging dock for my iphone. ultimately i would like to dock the phone in a device that is meant to support the iphone. the device would have both audio and video out. the device would charge the iphone and look decent enough to leave siting out.
bestbuy has these in stock; http://kino-eye.com/2007/01/12/dlo-homedock-deluxe/
There are so many 3rd party options out there and most do not say "iphone".
What says the apple community ?
    Rick

WOW I thought this was going to be an easy question, guess I couldnt be more wrong... I will settle for audio out in combination with being able to charge the unit.

  • Whenever i charge my ipod 5th generation i have to move the charger around for about 5 minutes,it doesnt want to charge and switches on and off?

whenever i charge my ipod 5th generation,i find myself moving the charger around for about 5minutes,the first few months the charger has worked fine now it is playing up,turning on and off charge?

I would make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. The warranty covers manufacturer's defects. Unfortuantely, if you inadvertantly cause some damage in your wiggling, it could be determined that you broke the port - regardless if it was malfunctioning before or not. Have them look at it and see what they say.

  • Should i buy the universal dock

should i buy the universal dock. does the ipod sit tight in the adapter u get with the ipod in the universal dock??? please help need advice

I bought the universal dock for the new 5th generation ipod. i bought it with the intentions of using it to play music and video through my entertainment center. 2 things have gone terribly wrong with this idea. 1) i can't have the dock connected to power outlet while playing music as a residual hum blows through the speakers. i've tried both turning the volume down on the ipod and disconnecting the power supply. the later is the solution that worked but defeats the purpose of charging while playing music. 2) the apple cords i have are not working with video playback. audio works fine, with adjustment foremetioned, but no video is coming through to tv.

  • IPad 4 started charging reeeeaaally slowly. Is the charging dock broken, how do I fix that? Mum spent loads of money on it, I really hope it's not broken!

I recently bought a new charger, labelled as genuine on amazon and cost me £8 (I should have just got it from apple) then the iPad goes into a frenzy going from charging to not charging to charging to not charging every second, now plugging in my iphone 5's charger, it charges so slowly, it got to 15% in about an hour. What's happened to it? I read it might have burnt out the charging dock, if it has, can I get that fixed?
    Thanks,
    Emmah

If you don't have access to the proper iPad charger, you may be able to use the iPhone charger for an interim charger, but I definitely would not use it as a permanent solution. You may have more success if you connect the charger, then turn of the iPad. The charge cycle will still be very slow though.

  • Why do i need to buy the same app for each device over and over again??

why do i need to buy the same app for each device over and over again??

First, you posted in the Mac App Store forum which are apps for the Mac OS X, not iOS devices.
You do not need to re purchase your apps. Connect your iOS devices to your computer, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Apps then click Sync

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Why can't I buy the pages app for my iPad?

I tried to buy the pages app for my ipad but it said it wasn't supported?

Pages requires iOS 5 now as indicated on the app description page under the Pages icon. You will have to download and install iTunes 10.5 first on your computer in order to download and install iOS 5 for the iPad. Your profile indicates that you are running iOS 5. If that is the case, try restarting the iPad or resetting it and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
