Warning after update to 10.10.3

When I rebooted after installing this latest update, a warning was given about an incompatible Rapport Preferences Pane (I believe but cannot remember the exact wording). I found the reference and deleted it. I have had problems with the Trusteer Rapport progam and had to do a complete reinstall of Yosemite with the help of an Apple technician.
I have now run an Etrecheck check and this was reported in the Launch Daemons: [failed] com.trusteer.rooks.rooksd.plist. I know items in red are just for info but I do not understand why it is listed. I cannot find the plist anywhere so does it matter?
This item also appeared in Etrecheck Startup items: ProTec6b: Path: /Library/StartupItems/ProTec6b Startup items are obsolete in OS X Yosemite
So should I delete this in the stated path or leave all well alone? Thanks in advance for any help/advice given.

Trusteer has caused crashes in the past. Not sure what its status is, now. I wouldn't install it.
If it was under Launch Daemons, it should be in /Library/LaunchDaemons. It could be in your User/Library, but that wouldn't be normal.
ProTec6b appears to be some form of copy protection scheme, likely installed with some photo plug-in. I would imagine those plug-ins no longer work unless you have upgraded them and it just left that crap behind.

    Well, I'm having similar problems but different enough that I thought I'd mention it. With enough adjustments to the build settings (for device) the game builds, begins to run, I get the error mentioned above, then the game quits after a frame or so with this message
    "Debugger stopped.
    Program exited with status value:101.
    <update> - Originally the app would only crash when running from XCode, but when I ran the app on the device on it's own it appeared to run fine. The last few builds have not worked at all, so basically my device is useless. Has there been an update on this?

    After updating to iOS 6 my iPod Touch 4th.Gen is virtually unusable ... does anyone know how to sue Apple since they gave no warning about iOS 6 being for iPad optimisation and a killer for iPods ?  Before I throw away my iPod Touch does anyone know if Apple intends to rectify their obnoxious disregard for iPod users by issuing another 'upgrade' which will allow iPods to work without the constant system crashes that iOS 6 has caused ?

    Contact a lawyer if you want to sue.
    Otherwise try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Parental Controls Broken After Updating an Application

    I'm using Parental Controls (remotely) under 10.5.4 to manage what applications can be opened in a small lab. This works well until I need to update an application on the lab computers. I'll use Firefox as an example, but this happens with all applications.
    - I have a version of Firefox on all lab computers (3.0) and Firefox is allowed under parental controls. Everything works.
    - I update Firefox to 3.0.1. (In this case, I simply overwrote the older version of firefox, but I get this problem when updating applications with installers.)
    - If I remotely look at the Parental Controls settings for the lab computer, I can see that Firefox is still allowed (checked)
    - Now, on the lab computer, I log into the managed account and try to open Firefox, I get a warning about the application not being on the allowed list.
    - I log out of the lab computer, and again, access the parental controls setting remotely. Now Firefox is Not Allowed (unchecked).
    - I check the box to allow Firefox
    - Now when I log into the managed account, the new version of Firefox opens.
    Some fixex / workarounds I have tried:
    - After updating Firefox, I remotely accessed the parental controls settings and first disallowed (unchecked) Firefox, close parental controls, reopened it, and then allowed (checked) Firefox. When logged into the managed account, opening Firefox produced the not allowed error. When I return to the Parental Controls settings, Firefox is now Not Allowed (unchecked). Checking the box to allow Firefox fix the error.
    - I've tried restarting after updating Firefox and it did not work.
    My guess:
    I assume that Leopard keeps a list of applications and versions installed on the computer. Parental Controls allows a specific combination and any update will break the parental controls. To allow this updated application to be opened, its old entry in the list must be updated to reflect the new version. The only way I have figured out how to do this, is to try and open the updated application and fail. Then I can finally allow the updated version.
    Does anyone know of an automated or scritable way to do this. I have tried working with lsregister, but have not had any success. I need a way to force Leopard to reload / refresh its list of installed applications, with having a user logged into the console.
    For a different solution, does if you can send a UNIX command to machine sitting on it login screen, that will cause the machine to login as a local console user. I could then send "open /path/to/updated app" and a logout to force the application list to be refreshed.
    Many Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi! Did you ever receive any feedback on this issue?
    I am interested since I have noticed the exact same frustration with Parental Controls since updating to 10.5.
    While a very good idea, I think the parental controls, especially with respect to permissions about applications is utterly useless at the moment. It is completely stupid that I have to reset the permissions for applications each and every time I update an application. I have three children who use the computer and I don't want them using every bit of software on the eMac. They are naturally curious and will click on programs that can do damage without realizing is.
    I have also turned off any parental controls regarding web browsing but my children still hit many sites that are blocked by Parental Controls. I do have a linux gateway that does the filtering quicker and better.
    If anyone at Apple is listening ... please spend some time to fix this for the next update.
    Thank you.

    after update to IOS 6 on my Ipad2 it not possible to go to month view of March 2013 in the calendar app?
    on my Ipone with IOS there is no problem
    is Apple aware of this problem?
    When will it be solved?

    Probably the app developers fault but then Apple needs to warn people about compatiblity of apps... I will add a review note to TOP 3 to warn people
    If it is an app compatibility issue - it IS the app developers responsibility to make sure that they update their apps in order to work with the new iOS. Apple owes no users a warning whatsoever. Common sense tells me that a very old app that has not been updated for the last two iOS updates just might not make the grade in the third iOS release since the app came out.
    I can't even find an App called Top 3 Solitaire in the U.S. App Store. Perhaps the app was so old and it hasn't been updated in so long so it was pulled from the App Store.

  • ITunes won't open after update; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5

    iTunes won't open after update - help, please; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5.

    i had a problem similar to yours and better yet, i have the fix for it. i downloaded maverick 4 months ago and was without itunes ever since. all itunes icon did was bounce. itunes would never open and whats more, is when i would try to update it, i would get a "thank you for downloading itunes!" page , but the download would never work. so i scoured the net for solves. nothing that worked. <4 months later> then last night i took a new approach. i decided even though maverick would not allow me to uninstall itunes, i would find a way to uninstall itunes. then i would reinstall back to 11.1.5 i was successful and heres what i did.
    step one-
    Back up your iTunes Library.itl file, found under ~/Music/iTunes
    (even tho i didnt, i only had 3 artists in there at the time. and they didnt get erased but i advise you back up just in case.)
    step two-
    download itunes 10.7 from apple. i used this link Download it from Apple here
    (i pulled the link from Aarons website (awesometast.com). you download 10.7 however you want but i used the link above and have had no issues).
    although im not sure you need to do this step ( you may be able to download 11.1.5 itunes without 10.7, i did because i was following intructions from http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/
    step 3-
    open Terminal
    step 4-
    enter in these 3 commands hitting return after each line. 1st line nothing seems to happen, 2nd line nothing seems to happen and 3rd line gives you a warning and requires password to continue. when i did it, my password didnt appear as i entered it and i hit return without looking, so i entered it in again, although im not sure i had to the 2nd time.
    killall iTunes
    killall "iTunes Helper"
    sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
    step 5-
    drag off and dump the itunes icon (which now has the ? shadow in it) off your dock.
    step 6-
    install 10.7 itunes you downloaded earlier. (not sure if this part is neccesary. you may be able to just download 11.1.5 but i downloaded 10.7 because i was following Aarons steps.) itunes now works.
    step 7-
    go to apple and update to 11.1.5 itunes. install it. open it and you have itunes 11.1.5 in perfect working order. assuming you have a decent internet speed for the downloads, the whole process takes very little time.
    with those steps above, you can solve itunes just bouncing and not launching issues and also the "thank you for downloading" and nothing downloads issue. enjoy. also i would like to give a shout out to http://awesometoast.com and thank Aaron for the knowledge that enabled me to get itunes back into my life.

  • Multiseat with Lightdm broken after updating Mesa

    Hi,
    I've been using a multiseat configuration for months now, and it was working almost perfectly (almost - multiseating is far from being really stable yet IMHO, but anyway).
    I updated mesa-libgl a few days ago and confirmed packages replacement, but right after rebooting my second seat didn't work anymore. The display stays black and no login screen shows up, although I suppose a signal is still sent as the monitor doesn't go into sleep mode. The first seat on the other side is working as usual, no difference noted.
    In the processes, I can only see one Xorg instance (used by the first seat), when I'm supposed to have tow instances, one for each seat and with different parameters. It's like the second seat is crashing, but I can see no trace of such crash in the logs (kernel.log or everything.log). Even the Xorg.1.log contains all the informations as if the display was running fine.
    The day after updating Mesa, I also updated Lightdm but it didn't change anything (I had a brief hope for a moment).
    My configuration is the following :
        - Nvidia GTX 760: used on seat0 as dual-head with Nouveau driver (Layout-Main in Xorg)
        - Intel GMA: used on seat1 on single-head with Intel driver (Layout-Aux in Xorg)
    I'm using Lightdm with this configuration:
    [LightDM]
    minimum-vt=1
    run-directory=/run/lightdm
    [SeatDefaults]
    greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
    greeter-show-manual-login=true
    session-wrapper=/etc/lightdm/Xsession
    greeter-setup-script=/usr/bin/numlockx on
    [Seat:0]
    xserver-command=/usr/bin/X :0 -sharevts
    xserver-layout=Layout-Main
    [Seat:1]
    xserver-command=/usr/bin/X :1 -sharevts -novtswitch
    xserver-layout=Layout-Aux
    The Xorg configuration for the seats is divided into two files:

    When I disable the primary seat configuration in Xorg files (I just prevent the file from being loaded), and after I restart Lightm via
    # systemctl restart lightdm
    the display shows up correctly on the secondary seat (and not on the primary, which is logical so far). So in the end it seems I just cannot have both seat running at the same time, but individually they work fine.
    My logical assumption is that the recent upgrade of the Mesa packages somehow broke this configuration, but I cannot find why and how.
    FYI, here's what I tried:
    - play with Intel drivers options in Xorg (NoAccel, DRI, ...)
    - play with Xorg options on the command line of each seat (-sharevts, -novtswitch)
    - switch to Nvidia proprietary drivers (but here also, only the primary seat works, but that may be for a totally different reason, which is why I used Nouveau ever since I set up this configuration)

    Ha! I searched something like that during my investigations, I was wondering if it wasn't about the recent logind changes, but I gave up due to the lack of documentation

  • Many contacts are not visible to alphabetical browse on Contacts after update to OS 10.2 on the Z10

    After updating to 10.2 on Z10  many contacts do not appear on the Contacts list, but if I search for them, I get them one at a time. I can't browse for them, but they are still in a file somewhere. That file is no longer fully connected to the Contacts app, it seems. I'm going to call the two alternatives the "browsible" list when I refer to the Contact app working correctly and lsiting the contact alphabetically; and the "non-browsible" list, when I can only find them by a search.
    One other thing of interest. When I add a contact that is in the same name as one on the non-browsible, I will get a message asking me if I want to replace the [old] contact. If I say yes, the new contact listing joins the hidden list and replaces what was there. If I say no, I get the contact added to the browsible Contact app. Thereafter, if I search on that name I get two hits: one is the old, non-browsible entry and the other is the new one that is browsible.
    I did the 10.2 update when I was running the older BB link on a WinXP computer and it did not work to create a back-up, so I can't try restore. I now run Win7 64-bit and the new link seems to work okay,  but that was installed after I upgraded to 10.2..
    Any suggestions as to where I go to find the hidden contact entries on the non-browsible list? And how I get them to appear on the alphabetical, browsible, list when Contacts is opened?
    Thanks for all answers.
    Ken

    That's another odd thing. I did make a big effort to back-up the Z10 before the update to OS 10.2.1.  But, it appears to me that by downloading the new OS to my computer [T-Mobile never does push the BB updates, not as long as I've owned it, which was a few days before the US distro, when I got hold of one for the South American market in Miami Breach] it seems to have removed my installed BB Link from my laptop. And my back-up files are empty.
    Last time something like this happened. there was a workaround. Do this, do that, and suddently the contacts that are lurking somewhere on the phone, appear. I was hoping for this again.
    If this is a known issue, why is it not featured on the BB page where the installer was located? I would never have downloaded OS 10.2.1, if I was warned I might lose my contacts and texts.
    A sorry mess.

  • Cannot reply to email after update to 10.8.4

    Recently - I believe after updating to 10.8.4 - Apple Mail 6.5 will no longer send replies or forwards.  After troubleshooting different scenarios, it seems to be related to the original message text being included in the reply/forward.  I need to include all previous message text in my emails for audit purposes.
    Any suggestions/fixes would be greatly appreciated.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

    After updating to iOS 6.1.2, neither my iPhone or iPad will update apps thru App Store. Any suggestions?

    What happens when you try?
    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Control key no longer works after update.

    After updating Lion the control key no longer works. It beeps when pressing control and then a number key but nothing happens.
    This is left control key though. Right still works?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software -- potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions -- they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are four lines of text in monospaced type, which are UNIX shell commands. They’re harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of running these commands, search this site for other discussions in which they’ve been used without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it.
    To begin, launch the Terminal application; e.g., by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search.
    Step 1
    Copy or drag -- do not type -- the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
    Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    Step 4
    ls -1A {,/}Library/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Sta}* 2> /dev/null
    Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, change it to something like “[email protected]” before posting.
    Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Xorg doesn't start after update

    After updating this day (my system was last updated at the beginning of July
    this year) I have some problem with Xorg. The server just doesn't start, and
    the screen is black. I can get back to the console with Alt-F1.
    Here's my Xorg.0.log:

    Edit (08.08.2008): All right, don't bother answering this question anymore. The problem is no longer important. This topic can be closed, since it won't be solved.
    (I think it was caused by some error during copying files while updating my system.)

    Damn you're right. The pacman cache filled the disk...
    Problem solved - thanks!
    Only question left is:What are the correct permissions for /tmp since I'd like to set them back to default.

  • Mail needs to be sent after updating the salary column of emp table

    Hi,
    we have table test_emp_table, oracle form based application is running on this table...
    it conatins salary column, we have requirement that, when every any update to the salary column, a mail needs to be sent to concerned person with new and old salary values..
    I did that using the following procedure...
    ===========
    -- Create Temporary Table to hold the Updated values
    create table email_parameters
    ( id number primary key,
    oldsal varchar2(10),
    newsal varchar2(10),
    ename varchar2(100));
    --- Create Procedure
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE send_email_new (
    l_job IN NUMBER ) is
    l_oldsal varchar2(100);
    l_newsal varchar2(100);
    l_emp_name varchar2(100);
    l_message varchar2(100);
    BEGIN
    SELECT oldsal
    INTO l_oldsal
    FROM email_parameters
    WHERE ID = l_job;
         SELECT newsal
    INTO l_newsal
    FROM email_parameters
    WHERE ID = l_job;
         SELECT ename
    INTO l_emp_name
    FROM email_parameters
    WHERE ID = l_job;
         l_message:=
    'Employee Name= '
    || l_emp_name
    || chr(10)||chr(10)
    || 'Old Salary= '
    || l_oldsal
         || chr(10)||chr(10)
    || 'New Salary= '
    || l_newsal;
    send_mail(l_message);
    DELETE FROM email_parameters
    WHERE ID = l_job;
         EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS
    THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line (DBMS_UTILITY.format_error_stack);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line (DBMS_UTILITY.format_call_stack);
    END;
    --- Create Trigger
    create or replace trigger send_email_trg
    after update on TEST_EMP_TABLE
    for each row
    declare
    l_job number;
    begin
    dbms_job.submit (job => l_job,
    what => 'send_email_new(job);' );
    insert into email_parameters
    values (l_job, :old.sal,:new.sal,:new.ename);
    end send_email_trg;
    -- Create Procedure for Sending Mail
    create or replace procedure send_mail(l_message varchar2) is
    c utl_smtp.connection;
    PROCEDURE send_header(name VARCHAR2, header VARCHAR2) AS
    BEGIN
    utl_smtp.write_data(c,name ||':'|| header || UTL_TCP.CRLF);
    END;
    BEGIN
    c := utl_smtp.open_connection('192.168.0.18');
    utl_smtp.helo(c, 'abc.com');
    utl_smtp.mail(c, '[email protected]');
    utl_smtp.rcpt(c, '[email protected]');
    utl_smtp.open_data(c);
    send_header('From', '[email protected]');
    send_header('To', '[email protected]');
    send_header('Subject', 'Warning: Employee Solary has been updated!');
    utl_smtp.write_data(c, UTL_TCP.CRLF || l_message);
    utl_smtp.close_data(c);
    utl_smtp.quit(c);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN utl_smtp.transient_error OR utl_smtp.permanent_error THEN
    BEGIN
    utl_smtp.quit(c);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN utl_smtp.transient_error
    OR utl_smtp.permanent_error THEN
    NULL;
    END;
    raise_application_error(-20000, SQLERRM);
    END;
    ====================
    But I have doubt, if there is any problem with mail server, if user is updating salary column from form based application at same time....
    will table trigger allows him to save the new record or not????? or will he get any errors????

    thanks justin...
    I have written that code..but it works...problem is ...i am not able to understand the flow...what happens in the order, until mail is sent...
    i have another code.....
    I have written with out dbms_job, i have witten directly in the trigger itself...
    Tom suggested the procedure, what i have given above..but not the below procedure....
    I am not able to understand, what is the difference between them.....
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER test_emp_table_trg
    AFTER UPDATE
    ON test_emp_table
    FOR EACH ROW
    WHEN (NEW.sal <> OLD.sal)
    DECLARE
    l_employee_name VARCHAR2 (240);
    l_old_sal VARCHAR2 (240);
    l_new_sal VARCHAR2 (240);
    l_message VARCHAR2 (240);
    BEGIN
    /* Gets the employee full name */
    BEGIN
    SELECT ename
    INTO l_employee_name
    FROM test_emp_table
    WHERE empno = :OLD.empno;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS
    THEN
    l_employee_name := NULL;
    END;
    /* Gets the old Salary */
    BEGIN
    SELECT sal
    INTO l_old_sal
    FROM test_emp_table
    WHERE empno = :OLD.empno;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS
    THEN
    l_old_sal := 0;
    END;
    /* Gets the new position name */
    BEGIN
    SELECT sal
    INTO l_new_sal
    FROM test_emp_table
    WHERE empno= :NEW.empno;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS
    THEN
    l_new_sal := 0;
    END;
    l_message:=
    'Employee Name= '
    || l_employee_name
    || 'Old Salary= '
    || l_old_sal
    || 'New Salary= '
    || l_new_sal;
    BEGIN
    send_mail (l_message);
    END;
    ==========
    can you please describe it clearly???
    thanks in advance my dear friend????

  • N97 Arabic language lost after updating.....

    Hello Everybody.
    I will make it simple this time.
    I have 'middle east' version of nokia n97 with Arabic language included."I could write in Arabic"
    after updating to V22 I couldn't do that any more?
    Is it possible to reinstall that language back without Hard resetting my phone ?

    farby wrote:
    This thread will explain the reason.. Be warned that any Future Firmware Updates / Re-install will again remove this language and you will need to get it installed again thru' Nokia Care...
    Future firmware updates will not remove the language after that, if whomever does the flashing also changes the product code to match the new firmware language variant.
