Warning beeps no longer sound off

I have sound, but my warning beeps no longer make noise, even the built-in ones. Also, the trash, mail and iChat aren’t making their correct sounds either, but GarageBand and everything else is working correctly. I checked my audio set-up, and everything seems to be in order. What’s wrong? Thanks very much. Peace.

Hello kelly_marie,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you enjoy your stay!
I understand the computer experiences battery and overheating issues. I will do what I can to assist you!
First, I would like you to know that these two issues are possibly related and could be contributing to each other's status. I will provide a document on how to improve battery life. There are tips and troubleshooting steps to try: Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista)
Once you try this, I would like to address the overheating issue. There is a document specifically designed for when the computer shuts down because of overheating. This document contains troubleshooting steps that will resolve the issue, unless the hardware is faulty: Troubleshooting an Overheating and Auto Shutdown Issue
If you cannot resolve the issue, then it is safe to assume that the hardware is faulty. Please let me know your results. Thank you for choosing the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Your MBP has unusual symptoms.  I suggest starting with an Apple Hardware Test:

You may need to start it with the OPTION and D keys.
It may be helpful if you indicated the model of your MBP and the OS.

  • Trying to uninstall Kaspersky 2010 Int. Sec.; screen blanks, tower starts beeping; can't turn off.

Cannot uninstall Kasp. Int. Sec. 2010.  Clicked first uninstall button, screen went blank, then tower started beeping--froze up.  Cannot turn off computer; have to unplug.  Next day booted up, computer had to 'check file system on C:   Three steps to scan...1) verifying files 2) verifying Indexes 3) verifying Security Descriptors.  Everything checked out, windows booted up, ok.  After 3 minutes another warning:  Windows is shutting down to protect the computer....etc.etc.,  screen went blank, beeping started, cannot turn off again.
I want to delete/uninstall almost everything from two years ago (computer not used since) and start over.  Help.

    Can not uninstall Kaspersky.

  • Keyboard clicks no longer sounding

I have an iPad 2 and I have just noticed that keyboard clicks no longer sound.
    Music is fine
    I have tried a restart
I have switched off the clicks and back on but no change
    Any ideas?

    You have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Facebook Notification sounds off?

Hi al, another question from this newbie user.......is there a way to turn the sound off for Facebook notifications, but keep it on for text messages? I was able to do that with my old HTC phone and it was great. With this one, my phone keeps buzzing and I think it's a text, but it's a Facebook one. I really only want to hear the beeps for texts and voicemals...is there a way to do this?

Just go to facebook app and slide to the left. After that,go to app settings and disable notifications or sounds or whatever you like.

  • This is the stupidest question anyone has ever asked I'm sure.  But how in the world do you turn the music off?  If I just turn the sound off, then it doesn't want to work in other apps either and the music just goes on and on.

I have the dumbest question.  Is there an off button just for the music?  I can't get my music to stop playing. When I turn the sound off, the music goes on and on and the sound won't work on other apps.  Am I doing something worng?  Haven't had this thing very long.

  • E71 put all sounds off except the phone ringing

I got the E71 from my company. Actually I not at all in to this fancy phone fashion. What I want is to make the thing only make a sound, vibrate or beep, WHEN I GET A .... PHONECALL.
Sorry for the caps, and it's not against Nokia all phones these days are like that. So give me all tips you can imagine. For example I want the thing to stop vibrating when there is a meeting in my agenda. It should only put it in the display. It should shut the .... up too when I got an email. Just a message on the display nothing more, no vibrates either. And I look, when I want to look. (I am the boss here, not my phone!) Also getting irritating bleeping sound off everytime I press a key. And any other tips to make the thing stop yelling at me, would make me happy too. And no, I do not want to use quiet mode, since it should ring, when it does, what a mobile phone should do, just ring when you got a telephone call.
    Sorry for my frustration. :-)

Go to Menu -> Control Panel then Profiles
Pick one of the Profiles (or select Options and Create New)
    Select options and Personalise
Set all Items to Off Except for Ringing Tone, Ringing Type and Ringing Volume.

  • HT5860 What about if when I start up my MacBook Pro it makes 3 short beeps 3 long beeps and 3 short beeps.  Or is that the same as 3 long 3 short 3 long?

The screen does not turn on and makes 3 short beeps 3 long beeps and 3 short beeps again then turns itself off.  Well I just tried to turn it on again and now there are no more beeps but instead just a black screen.  The LED light in the front of the laptop is on and not blinking.  Does anyone know what be wrong with my laptop?
Also this is a 2010 model I believe

  • Handset Low Battery Warning - Beeping has stopped ...

I have FIVE Diverse 6210 handsets around the house and have currently replaced all the batteries in all the handsets.
Before i replaced them, when the batteries got low the handsets started beeping so i knew i had top put them on charge. Now after replacing the batteries the warning beep has stopped. This has happened on ALL the five handsets. I have even tried putting the old batteries back in but still no beeping.
I have replaced the batteries with the correct re-chargeable batteries as stated in the instruction book.
I have found it useful to know when they need charging by the beep - anyone has ideas or help would be appreciated.

Yeah, this is really weird. I have a thread going on complaining about the same thing and I cannot figure it out. My computer will just die anywhere from 42-80% battery life remaining. I mean, it's really sporadic. Not only that, my battery health keeps fluctuating from 38-45% and at very short and random times, 91%. Every time the computer dies while running off the battery, the battery reads at least two bars of charge left...but when I try to turn the computer back on, it will die a couple of seconds in. Let's not mention how my battery is never fully charged either. It will say 100% charge, but when I take my power cord off and then wait 30 seconds and put it back, it will say 93-97% charged. Give me a break, there is no way 30 seconds of battery power is going to diminish the charge by 3-7%.
I have no idea what is going on, but Apple should stop buying batteries from Sony. What a disaster this is.

  • Warning before PlayBook turns itself off

It would be nice if the PlayBook would display a warning before it turns itself off due to the low batter charge. It's very annoying whn working on something it suddenly the PlayBook displays the "Powering off"-dialog and you didn't have a chance to save.
Looking at your battery status isn't a solution, because apps are full-screen and when working I don't want to be bothered with manually check that status...

  • I can no longer print off a web page (eg Flight booking confirmation). Other printer functions are OK. Any ideas?

My printer will no longer print off web-pages, either from the tool bar command or from the "print page" command. This has only just happened and seeems to have followed a MS up-date, but can't be sure.
    Can anyone suggest a fix?
All other printer functions work OK.
    Many thanks.

My printer is HP Photosmart C4650 Series. I can print from everything but the Web. I don't get an error message or anything it just will not print.
I'm using Windows 7, it had been doing fine than it just decided to quit printing from the web.

  • How do I turn the camera sound off in iOS 7 on my 4s?

    Hi,
I just downloaded iOS 7 on my 4s.  Everything is fine, but it now makes a "shutter/camera" sound when I take a picture.  In iOS 6, I could turn that sound off.  I can't seem to find where to do that in settings....
    Can it be turned off?
    Thanks!
    Emily

Thanks.  That worked.  Weird that their's nothing in settings....
    Have a good one.

  • My Ipad sounds off a loud trumpet fanfare occasionally.  Is this a serious fanfare?  If so, how do I find and fix the problem?

My Ipad continues to sound off a loud trumpet fanfare periodically without reason.  Is this a significant malware?  If so, can I find it and delete it?

Explore the settings, sounds and see if you have that trumped fanfare set for anything. Maybe it's a new mail?
