    Hi,
Some "movies' are actually Flash files.
This means the Flash App will play them (possibly in a browser in some cases).
Depending where this item is and how it is playing it may be effected by other things
A web page can include javascript.
Apple uses javascript here to help with creating the posting box, the Edit options, Adding pics/smilies and the like.
Sometimes the javascript can be what is called a runaway process and gets sort of stuck in an endless loop.
If it is a free standing item then it might be triggered by AppleScript on the Mac. (or be modified in some way)
Again if the Script (normally written with a upper case S) is not perfect it can cause problems.

  • Receive error: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly..." Firefox problem? Adobe problem? Malware?

While browsing a variety of site, while running no movies at all, I receive the following message:"A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" I click "ok", error message disappears. minutes later, error message re-appears.
I've removed Adobe Flash, cleaned registry, rebooted, all to no avail.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player to run slowly

    Hello,
I am creating a Flash application with Flash 8 and testing it
in FP8. The application hanldes a lot of XML data and it is about
sending and receiving a lot of http messages or socket messages
(SocketXML). All of these data do not exceed 5-10 KB in size.
When testing the application from the Flash IDE or debugging
    it, there is no problem.
On the other hand, when I try to play the .swf or the .exe
file, the application hangs when I try to load a new movie into my
    screen.
Why this problem doesn't arise when testing in Flash IDE? Can
we make any assumption out of this?
Any help would really appreciated as the deadline for the
    project is on Wednesday.
    Thank you

Well I think that I found something.
There is a main movie in which many external movies are
loaded (once at a time). The player was hanging when the user was
pressing the button to load the external .swf.
After many trials and erros I figured out that probably what
stops player from responding is the combo box the external movies
have. I have to mention that I'm using skinned combos. But I tried
to delete the skinned files and drop a new standard combo into
these external movies. In both situations I was getting the pop
    message about "...running slowly..."
On the other hand, when I deleted completeley the combo box
and any skinned movie clips everything was ok.
So, is this is a bug? Is there any hack?

  • Flash Player Causing Whole Computer to Run Slowly

Everytime I go on a page that uses flash content (which is
quite often) it causes my computer to run really slowly and I am
constantly having to restart it. I have tried uninstalling flash

what to do next. I will welcome any suggestions. I am running

  • Script on page causing flash player to run slow

I am trying to use webmaker( magix) and as I get to the load
page I get this message... script on this page is making flash
player run slow and may cause computer to be unresponsive do you
want to abort after 4 days of trying could anyone tell me what the
    problem could be please

I don't understand why I would use onEnterFrame(). The entire
program only needs one frame to exist on, but maybe I don't
understand how Flash needs to manage these things. I am a C++/Cocoa
programmer rewriting a program that my boss made years ago in
Visual BASIC. What made it work for him was to call DoEvents every
600 itterations, which pauses the execution so that the system can
catch up with it's own stuff. Are you saying that onEnterFrame will
do this too? How will this work if the calculation only starts when
a button is pressed. Does the entire calculation routine need to
take place on a different frame?
    Could you explain these things?

  • Script running slowly...

    Hi there!
The alert message "A script in this movie is causing Flash
Player to run slowly. If it continues to play your computer may
become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" is really
    driving me mad.
    Everything was going well.
It happened suddenly when I published my movie for about the
hundreth time just after adding a script.
I tried to re-publish with the new script removed and I still
    got the same message!
I verified all the scripts my movie contains and there's no
    error in the scripting
(at least as Check syntax tells me...)
In the publishing window, I can see the whole movie playing
very quickly without a stop even if each concerned keyframe has a
    stop(); in it.
If I abort the script, the movie continues to run and at the
end of the graphical display of the frames, I can see a lot of
"ghost" frames (about twenty) and the panel indicates a preload of
    about 3 000 000 frames !!!!!
If I don't abort the script, the graphical display and the
Preload quantity is normal (about 270 frames).
Does anybody has an idea of what is happening?
    Many thanks for your help.

    Thanks for replying!
    Sorry for the delay...
I'm an old man and I was sick these days...
The script I added is very simple and clean: it loads arrays
to populate a new ComboBox and a Listener to drive this ComboBox.
    Nothing very special here.
The Movie contains 23 ComboBoxes with similar scripts.
All of the ComboBoxes are set invisible by default and some
of them are called on demand depending the Frame in which we work.
    Very simple... indeed!
Remark: despite the warning, if I DON'T abort the script
everything is working fine and operations are flashy. The Movie
becomes erratic if I abort the script and then nothing is working
Problem is the warning doesn't indicate WHICH script is
    involved and it is annoying.
Using the Debugger is very complex for me and doesn't do an
    analysis of the Movie scripting...

  • FF now freezes ~every 10 mins. Get Adboe "script in this movie is causing Flash to run slowly." reinstalled FF and have latest versions of FF&Flash. Help pls

Have used FF since v1. NEVER had a problem. NOW it freezes like every 10 minutes from any random web page on computers at home AND work. Have researched this and have done the following: 1) reinstalled FF, 2) updated to latest versions of both FF and Adobe Flash per instructions here. It still freezes.
The message I get is: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"
Then a dialog box that you can't click in eventually after 2-5 mins FF starts working again - until it doesn't.
I "heart" FF - but don't have the time to troubleshoot and fiddle with my browser just so it works. Looks like I am being FORCED to make the move to Chrome, which is a shame.
    Anything I can do?
    Thanks!
