Warning for producers and users: Adobe Exchange Woes

I think there may be some here who, like me, have submitted (and have
had accepted) products to the new Adobe Exchange.
Also, if you are a regular user who has tried to install products from
the Exchange, you should be aware of this bizarre hurdle:
If, as a producer, you created your Adobe Exchange product by using the
Adobe Exchange Packager, and your product targets InDesign, you will
have selected InDesign from the dropdown of targeted products in
Exchange Producer.
What you may not realize, is that this only targets the 32-bit version
of InDesign!
What that means is that anyone who tries to download your product from
the Adobe Exchange Panel within InDesign 64-bit, will encounter the
following situation: He or she will be told that the product has
installed "successfully". Yet it will not appear anywhere within
InDesign 64-bit.
Instead, it will appear in InDesign 32-bit, which is also installed.
I spoke to Adobe about this, and there is a workaround for producers
involving editing the .mxi file. However, I doubt that many producers
are aware of this at all, as no warning is given, and, on the contrary,
the impression is clearly given that by targetting InDesign you are
targetting all versions.
In short, InDesign users will find that many products on the new Adobe
Exchange cannot be installed in the new, "convenient" way into InDesign
CC 64-bit at all. They will always land up in InDesign 32-bit only.
This is certainly true for Windows. It may be different for Macs -- I
don't know.
Ariel

Well, that's good to know.
So half the problem is solved. (Is it an even split between Mac and Win
ID users?)
But anyone running InDesign CC 64-bit is going to find that they are
unable to install many/most products on the much touted new Adobe Exchange.

  • Installing and using Adobe Exchange for CS 4

Here is the situation. I have CS 4 Design Premium which has Adobe Exchange already however when i try to use it the file extensions . mxp  to install what i am assuming is the Adobe exchange extension/ plugin that is needed to contribute items to the Adobe website or exchange site. I have already downloaded the Adobe Exchange i have put it in my extension in CS 4, i have put it in my plug ins in CS 4 both times i have restarted the program and both times the extension has not shown up in photoshop so hep please.
I need STEP BY STEP instructions please.

    Hi designsbyamerianna,
Are you trying to install the Adobe Exchange Panel (downloaded from www.adobeexchange.com) in CS4?
If so, unfortunately this is not going to be possible for technical reasons; the Adobe Exchange panel requires CS6 or above to work correctly and is incompatible with CS4.
Please see the FAQs for more information:
    https://www.adobeexchange.com/resources/6#faq33
Otherwise, can you please tell me where you found the ZXP that you are trying to install, and whether you used Extension Manager?

  • Warning for Pre-Paid users! - cannot Activate iPhone if you exchange it!!

If you signed up for iPhone using pre-paid option, please be aware that if you need to exchange iPhone you will not be able to active your replacement iPhone!
I get the message: AT&T has determined your account cannot be used with the iPhone.
I believe this was a programming error.. policy will not let you convert a pre-paid goPhone to iPhone, but my account was activated on the iPhone and it very clearly has the iPhone data plan on it!
I spent 8 hours on the phone with AT&T today.. getting passed between at least 10 reps that were more or less helpless. Finally got a supervisor and they told me to call Apple because "everything was correct on their side!" Right, that's why the message says that "AT&T determined you can't use iPhone"
    What a joke!

  • I'm unable to load my Microsoft Exchange account.  Think I'm entering the wrong info for domain and user but haven't figured out the correct inputs...

I think the problem is with my domain and user name information.  Does anyone have any suggestions...

I know that when i tried to add a Live/Hotmail account I tried MS Ex but ended up having to forward my Live to my Gmail or just add an IMAP account.

  • How can i get newly added contacts for a Mailbox User in Exchange Server 2013

    Hi all,
I need to synchronize contacts in Exchange Server and Sugar CRM Application, for that
i need to get newly added contacts for a User in Exchange Server 2013 by using EWS Managed API.
I know how get the list of all contacts for a particular user , but in the list how i can find
    new contacts ?

    Hi Dora,
    that's the fun thing:
You add your own property (and it'll be invisible to outlook users, not to worry).
Extended Properties allow you to define custom property on Exchange Items. And it has a
    method for setting those too.
Here's a short post doing a very simple intro on using Extended Properties.
Glen's Exchange Blog is a generally useful resource when working with EWS, I'm confident you'll be able to find lots of tips there as well.

  • Check for Updates and User Account Control

With Adobe Reader the 'Check for Updates' function under Help does not appear to function when 'User Account Control (UAC)' in Windows Vista is turned on.
When UAC is turned off, the 'Check for Updates' works, and if there an update is available for Adobe Reader, it will download and install.
Other programs that update software funtion with UAC turned on, albeit with the additional dialog boxes that UAC brings, namely the CTL/ALT/DEL and user account logon (when applicable.)
Without updating the Adobe Reader software, users are leaving themeselves open to vulnerabilities.  Without UAC turned on, users are also leaving themselves open to certain risks.  So there appears to be a dilemma presented.
Does anyone know if/when Adobe will be changing the 'Check for Updates' functionality so it will behave more in-line with the UAC functionality?
Thank you in advance for your time and attention.

With UAC enabled, I start Adobe Reader, click on Help, and there is no selection for updating.  There is nothing for me to click.  Additionally, in Edit, Preferences, Updater, "Do not download or install updates automatically" is selected, and everything on the right pane is greyed-out.
With UAC disabled, I start Adobe Reader, click on Help, and there is a selection for 'Check for Updates.'  In Edit, Preferences, Updater, I can select the various methods of downloading/updating Adobe Reader.  The option to download the update but not install was selected, as I wanted it to be.
Finally, I noticed that the notice from Adobe, 'Update is ready to install,' appears in the Windows tray.  And it is this point that somewhat changes the serverity of the problem, that is, while 'Check for Updates' is not available when UAC is enabled, it appears that Adobe can still be updated through the automatic download feature.  The only problem with this is that I cannot tell if the update was downloaded while UAC was enabled (probably not since the download setting says not to) or while UAC was disabled.
In any case, it still does not appear that our clients can get their Adobe Reader software updated while UAC is enabled.  And this represents a security dilemma for us.

  • Another call for CMYK and full Adobe format support

As a sometimes creative director, publisher, photographer, and graphic guy -- I'd like to see LR evolve into a complete tool to manage all of Adobe's "photo graphic' assets. I think it's fair to say that a "photo graphic" is now much more than a JPEG, TIF, PSD, or RAW file.
In addition to the usual suspects, derivative "photo graphic" works often include PDFs, .INDD or .Ai files -- in both RGB and CMYK color spaces.
Q: If LR is modular why would it be difficult for LR to ingest RGB previews for all Adobe file formats? Adobe already has algorithims to rasterize thumbnails for each format. Isn't it a logical extension that LR apply the same proven rasterization processes to build full previews?
What's the problem and why the timidity? Thanks for reading ...

    Max...
I think you posted to the wrong thread...this one is all about why Lightroom won't be getting CMYK...
And yes, Adobe bought pixmantic to get Michael Jonsson who moved from Denmark to San Jose and is now working with the Camera Raw team of Thomas Knoll & Zalman Stern.
Those are the guys responsible for the Camera Raw pipeline which also happens to be used in Lightroom. Michael isn't actually working on Lightroom directly but what he works on will end up in Lightroom by virtue of additions to the Camera Raw pipeline.
"LightRoom is a metamorph of RawShooter"
Yeah, that was pretty much wrong...
"Majority of the pros cannot print 12x18 or larger prints in house. "
Uh, that entirely depends on YOUR definition of the term "pro"...most of the pros I know have at least a printer that can output 17x22 for doing tabloid size proofs for clients. So, either an Epson 4800/3800 or Canon 5000.
I personally have a 3800, 4800, 7800 and 9800 series of printers in the studio. Most of my work gets printed on the 7800 on 24" x 30" paper sizes but I do print 36" x 48" prints on the 9800. I rarely go larger than 36" wide.
And if you are outputting to photo labs for volume prints, most of those labs require sRGB (stupid of them but true).
I think your basic problem was you were making a whole bunch of assumptions, most of them wrong. Yes, Lightroom needs soft proofing...doh! Yes, Lightroom needs the ability to output to profiles other than color spaces...and yes, Lightroom ain't done yet. So, you can roll up your sleeves and help out or you can stand on the sidelines p!issing & moaning...
    Which is it?

  • Default acl permissions for root and user?

after running permissions i keep getting acl permissions changed and will repair. Apparently it doesn't. Is their a manual way of resetting to defaults for both root and user.

Turns out they didn't change themselves, but authentication got out of whack. This post fixed it for me, but I just jogged access on ical and blogs. Not sure which or both is needed, but after I toggled them over and back I was up and running again.
    <SNIP>
    Solution found athttp://michaeljin.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/locked-out-of-mac-os-x-server/
It’s blog update time! Updates have been a little scarce lately, been super busy with getting trophies on PS3
Anyway, recently encountered the following with a Mac mini server running Snow Leopard Server:
Despite being able to ARD / Screenshare the Mac mini, I was unable to get any further than the login window. Authentication credentials are obviously valid. No weird access permissions have been set. However, the weird thing was, I can connect to the server via Server Admin tools (from another Mac) and all other services were running without a hitch.
After much head scratching it turns out to be a sACL (Service Access Control List) issue.
    This thread solved the mystery!
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1654864
To save you the trouble, I’ll lay it out here. I cannot take credit for this, but Randall can!
Open Server Admin on a computer (any), and connect with the local admin to the machine.
    Select the server and authenticate.
Select Settings, then go to Access. You’ll want to make sure that Login Window and SSH have the local admin account listed if you select the option to “Allow only these users”. For now, I would suggest making sure all services have “Allow all users and groups” selected.
If (as in my case) it was set to Allow All in the first place, simply toggle the settings – back and forth.
    Save.
Try logging in again… should be a good one!

RMAN has great advantages over the User-Managed techniques. RMAN uses it's own RMAN commands to perform backup or recovery, while with user-managed backup and recovery you use SQL commands
By knowing the main backup and recovery concepts, you can perform both

  • Multiple domain mailboxes for one AD user in exchange 2013

I just wanted to make sure that this hasn't changed in exchange 2013 or if there's a better way to do this
we have a few users that need an email for companyA.com and CompanyB.com. For easy separation we've decided to create a separate mailbox for each email. Right now the only way i can figure how to easily associate both mailboxes with 1 AD user is to set up
their main email as their default mailbox, then create a shared mailbox and grant full permission for that user. Then in Outlook they have access to both accounts from 1 profile.
However I'm not sure how this would work for mobile access.  In Office365 connecting to 2 exchange accounts on a mobile device was pretty straight forward since each mailbox had a unique login. I know when a shared mailbox is created, a disabled user
is created in AD, I'm wondering if i can enable that account and then the user uses that login to connect to that account through their mobile device. Or maybe theres a simpler way to accomplish this goal?

we have a few users that need an email for companyA.com and CompanyB.com.
    Hi Derek,
Why not just create an additional email address for the users?
"You can use the EAC or the Shell to add or remove an email address for a user mailbox. You can configure more than one email address for the same mailbox. The additional addresses are called
proxy addresses. A proxy address lets a user receive email that’s sent to a different email address. Any email message sent to the user's proxy address is delivered to their primary email address, which is also known as the
primary SMTP address or the default reply address."

"create a shared mailbox and grant full permission for that user"
Do you mean a few users have a shared email address? For example:
    UserA:
Primary(main) address: [email protected], shared address:
    [email protected]
    UserB:
Primary(main) address: [email protected], shared address: [email protected]
If not, you can just create an addtional address for the users.

    Hi Ozark.
i'm in some sort on reflexion right now about the same issue... One problem that i have, is the price of BC.
I think it is too expensive... there are more and more open source solutions for Web designer firm and there is also a ruff competition on hosting.
for example: i, to be competitive, offer full service hosting with unlimited everything for 10$ a month... try to tell your client that "i need to move your site and it's gonna cost you the double"
I've been a long time user of adobe product, and now i feel a little stranded. Add to this, a 2000$ fee for rebranding the system and the poor lack of support (no phone number to call)
    and especially for francophone users...
i'm a little sad of the situation, i thought i could upgrade all my suite and finally save some time. i'm not ready to make the jump yet.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac and SSLv3 on Exchange 2010

I have a few Apple MacBook users with Outlook 2011, and connecting back to my Exchange 2010 server (essentially via OWA). Currently it all works fine.
With the POODLE vulnerability, it is recommended that SSLv3 be disabled in Exchange (at Windows 2008 O/S server level), and instead fall back on TLS. Does
anybody have any experience with Mac users connecting to Exchange, disabling all SSL versions (SSLv3, v2, etc) on Exchange, and the Mac user still being able to connect?
I am not able to find much on the web, but I have seen a few people say that Outlook 2011 for Mac does not support TLS. IF you go in to the settings for
email, it does only have an option for "use SSL" and does not mention TLS.
Does anyone have any further insight? Thanks

  • Colour management warning for dual display users

For those of you who require a colour managed workflow and have more than one display, be very careful in Mountain Lion. It appears to have a bizarre bug where images loaded and shown on the primary display (e.g. in Preview) are initially rendered with the colour profile from the secondary display, or something along those lines. Dragging the display window to the secondary display and back again sorts things out. I've filed a bug report.
If your two (or more) monitors have the same colour profile, you won't have a problem. The only workaround I can see is to set your least important display(s) to all have the same profile as your (probably calibrated, if these things matter to you) primary display, at least until (if?) the bug gets fixed.
If you want to see it for yourself, set your two displays to differing profiles - e.g. NTSC (1953) on the primary and Wide Gamut RGB on the secondary. Then load an image into Preview - something with lots of shades of red "works" well for the colour profiles mentioned. Take a screenshot of the Preview window as a reference. Move the window to the secondary display; note the colour shift as it gets re-rendered. Now drag it back to the primary display. It'll look quite different compared to the screenshot you took earlier, despite the fact it's the same image being shown by the same application on the same display in the same window... All you did was drag the window between two monitors and back again.
It doesn't seem to matter if the image in question has a colour profile embedded in it or not. When comparing with your screenshot, feel free to drag the screenshot between the monitors too - after all, it'll be suffering the same rendering bug! You'll still see a different result; in fact it may even be magnified by the accumulated rendering errors.
Preview isn't the only application affected; I've seen identical issues under harder to replicate circumstances in Safari, for example.
Given this fault and others I've seen with colour rendering in Lion, plus several new bugs found in Mountain Lion, I'm afraid that if a colour managed workflow is important to you - well - Snow Leopard or Windows...?! Ugh, what a mess

I've encountered many of the same woes with color management being a graphic designer, but here's my issue:
Have a 15" (Early 2011) Macbook Pro.  It is turned on with me hooked up to my Dell U2410 and display open for a dual display configuration.  The Dell is my primary monitor.
I then unplug my MBP to use it around the house.  I go to plug it back into the Dell for my dual monitor.  I notice that the color on the Dell looks good, but now the MBP has a very blue color temperature.  Like moving from the preconfigured 'Color LCD' profile to 'sRGB' which definitely shifts to a blue color on the MBP.
I check the color profiles in System Settings and the Color profiles are correct.  'Dell U2410' for my Dell and 'Color LCD' for my MBP.  But as I said, it's much bluer than standard.  I try to change the color profiles around on the MBP and no matter which I select it's always the same color with no shifts I would expect to see.
Only solution I have found is to restart my computer.  Upon restarting all is well again in the world.
It's pretty annoying having to restart my computer everytime I plug it back into my workstation with Dell and keyboard.
Related note: USB does not work when I plug things back and again have to restart to fix this.

  • Can I install the Flash Plugin for Firefox, and the Adobe Flash application program, on the same machine?

PC with Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    Firefox 33.1
Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.223 installed as a Firefox plug-in.
Everything performs perfectly, and I particularly like the fact that when I encounter a file (usually video) on the web, I can ACTIVATE ADOBE FLASH on a once-only basis, rather than ALWAYS FOR THIS SITE.
So here is my question. I encountered a .SWF file on the web, and played it through the plugin. I then downloaded the file to my desktop. From the desktop, there does not seem to be a way to play it through the Firefox Plug-in. Is this correct - am I missing something?
In order to play the file, do I need to install a copy of Shockwave Flash or Adobe Flash Player as a standalone application program on my machine? Is it OK to have both the standalone application and the Firefox plugin on one machine? By the way, I am not interested in using WMP as the player.
    Thanks
    Bill

VLC Player looks like a nice application, and it will play FLV files. However, it will not play .SWF files, which was the subject of my initial query. I admit that I am a little confused about the difference between .SWF and .FLV, since they are both called Flash files. My bad. I would love to find a standalone player that will handle both. Nothing fancy required - just play the file!
As a side note, I downloaded VLC Player from the link you suggested. It installed easily and worked well. However, a Google search reveals that there are a number of sources for corrupted versions of the player, which contain malware. Thank you, Fred, for a straight steer.
