WARNING: Mac OS 10.6.5 & 10.6.6 breaks Photoshop CS w/many 3rd party apps
This is confirmed by Adobe but I'd like to know if Apple is taking this seriously or not and trying to fix this major issue for 10.6.7 -- Does anyone here know anything? I checked tuaw.com and I didn't see it mentioned in their articles about the 10.6.7 seeds.

I currently can't run a number of third party apps with PS CS and Mac OS 10.6.5 or 10.6.6 and we're all waiting for Apple to fix this. I can't run xGestures, Smart Scroll, etc. and more.

I'm starting to really regret "upgrading" from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I waited I think long enough (the .6 version) to have such major issues like this that affect my productivity to be ironed out by now by Apple.
Sounds to me like Adobe was probably relying on undocumented behavior in the CGEventPost routine. Apple is free, of course, to change undocumented behavior of any of their system APIs all they like, since you're not supposed to be using such things. Developers are supposed to stick to the documented behaviors in the APIs. If they don't, they can try to save face as Adobe is by blaming Apple, but the fact is, it's not Apple's fault, any more than it's my fault if someone picks up a flower pot from my front porch and misuses it by throwing through someone else's windshield.
As Barbara has observed, sounds like a case of Blame-Displacement Syndrome.

Removing 3rd Party Apps in Mac OS X 10.5
Normally I have no problem doing this - just drag and drop to the trash but I recently downloaded via MacUpdate Promo an app called Clips and I can't get rid of it. No matter what I do via command to Trash or drag and drop to Trash I'm told that the application is running and cannot be deleted. It must be running in the back ground because I can't get at it to close it. Can anyone shed light on this ?
Hi,
First check if the original installer (if it came with one) has an uninstall option. This usually sits just before you select the drive to install to.
If there is no uninstaller there, search through the menus, there may be something like "Remove ..." or similar.
Failing all the above, start the activity monitor, find your running app, select it and kill it - red stop sign on the toolbar. Once inactive, you should be able to delete it.
Or see if it is in the Login Items under your user account, if so remove it from there (minus button), restart and try trashing it.

My wife has been having problems with Safari, and many third party software and malware programs infecting her Mac Book Pro. I have tried to reset Safari but it keeps coming back, taking over Safari, changing defaults, start pages, and search engines, Etc.
Is it safe to use programs like MacKeeper, who keeps send my wife's computer message and alerts, or should I just wipe the drive and start over?

We have Vertex set up but have occasional timing, connection issues, etc.

Microsoft have chosen to use their own proprietary and incompatible syncing methods to sync their own operating systems. It stands to reason you'd be able to sync a Windows Mobile-based phone with a Windows desktop OS.

You haven't got to. Nokia provides their own support via a free iSync Plugin for that phone here:

If you're having problems with that, then Nokia are the people to contact - not Apple. But from your other post it appears you're having problems with installing it, not using it, and that's most likely because you've moved iSync. -
How do I pair a bluetooth headset when my MAC doesn't recognize it? The hedset work properly because they are paired with my iPhone. The headset is not an Apple product. It'd 3rd party.

Formatting music from windows to a mac using third party app
i used a third party app so that i could download music from a pc onto my os x formatted ipod. initially it worked when i moved the music into my itunes library on my mac, but for some reason now a lot of the tracks won't play and my computer freezes if i press play on any track that originally was downloaded onto a pc. is there a way to identify where the songs came from and then delete then from the library without going through each one a seeing if it will play and then having to force quit itunes because it freezes?
From what I know, windows will not recognize the complicated data of a mac formatted device; hence not recognizing it. Macs can recognize a windows formated ipod though, so if you decide to reformat it on windows, then you can use it on both computers. If you dont though, looks like you are out of luck, sorry.

Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased.
If they were purchased from your husbands account, then they will have to update using that account. -
I bought a brand new mac and follow through setting up process with my apple id but when I open App Store I don't see lion into the purchases list. why?
Updates come through Software Update not the App Store. If you have to reinstall Lion that is done via Internet Recovery.

Can't sign in using any 3rd party email client with my iCloud account on any Mac or any other Mac. My iCloud will only work with Mail.app. All the clients I tried work perfectly well as long as I sign in with somebody else's iCloud account. But mine won't work no matter the client (Postbox, Unibox, Airmail...) and no matter the computer.
I can access my account on iCloud.com, but I can't use email clients without getting error messages prompting me to check my password or login.
I was able to use those clients in the past but a couple of months ago I got logged out of Airmail and the issue started just like that!
I tried every possible mail server settings including the following:
IMAP information for the incoming mail server
Server name: imap.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
If you receive errors when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Port: 993
Username: The name part of your iCloud email address (for example, emilyparker, not [email protected])
Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP information for the outgoing mail server
Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
If you receive errors when using SSL, try using TLS instead.
Port: 587
SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: Your full iCloud email address (for example, [email protected], not emilyparker)
Password: Your iCloud passwordThose are the correct settings, and they work with any email client that supports Imap.

I want to put a 3rd party SSD in my mac mini and I no how to put in inside the mac mini but, how do I get osx on it preferably Yosemite I do not have a external hard drive just the one that comes with the mac mini and my 3rd party internal SSD please help me.
The easy way is to Purchase an External Enclosure like the Startech USB 3.0 S2510BPU33 with UASP, its a Super Fast connection, SATA 3.1 @ 6 Gb/s.
Just Pop your SSD inside the enclosure and use OS X Disk Utility to clone your existing HDD. This enclosure is So Fast you would not even have to open up your Mini to install the SSD, just Boot Externally you would Never Know the difference and your Warranty won't be affected by opening it up.

We have version 10.5.8 photoshop CS3 for Mac. How do we fix a problem with photoshop not resizing dpi? For example we resized a 72 dpi image to 200 dpi, when we do a pdf analysis it read as 344 dpi.
Sounds like it's a problem with the Acrobat settings. Did you set them to the same resolution?

Forget the Pendrive stategy...
Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
or CCC http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
Also, Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using...
