Warning Message:  The ITunes Library File Cannot be saved.  You do not have enough privliges for this operation.

This message comes up frequently when I am creating playlists within ITunes.  Sometimes it prevents me from saving the playlists, sometimes it does not.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling ITunes and the message is still coming up.

  • The itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have access privileges for this operation

Help, I just cant get rid of this error message:
The itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

The location of the iTunes Library file may be read-only or owned by a different user.
    Default locations:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<login>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
    Vista: C:\Users\<login>\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7: C:\Users\My Music\itunes
Right click the iTunes folder and choose Properties
Look at the Attributes and see if Read-Only is checked.
Uncheck it and click OK, at the apply to all subfolders and files prompt, make sure all subfolders and files is selected and click OK.
If your iTunes library saves now you are done.
If it does not you will need to try on each directory above the iTunes directory.
Of course if you are not using the default locations you'll have to alter the path to the one you find in iTunes Edit->Preferences, Advanced tab.

I didn't know that iTunes had a 64bit download. I have Windows 7 Home Premium with 64bit operation system. I downloaded the iTunes for 64bit and it seems to have corrected the problem. I haven't received the message yet since I did this.

when adding songs to the library, I receive this message
""The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. you do not have. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operations"
    Any tips?

Thanks for your answer. I will try to force my login as Administrator by entering in Safemode. However, I'm running a Windows Based system, and the only user in my machine is mine, and it have been defined it as Administrator, so I don't expect a different behavior if i force the administrator by Safe mode.
    will let you know.
    Any other idea?
Does Itunes generate a Log or something that I can review and find details about that error message?

  • The itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have eno

I get this message what does it mean?
"the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

You need to have enough rights to write to the My Music folder.
Most likely, your My Documents folder or My Music folder is missing or broken. Create the My Music folder in your My Documents, if it's not there, then use TweakUI to set it as the special My Music folder.

  • Error: itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough...

Last night this started popping up "itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access priviledges for this operation.". Nothing in my system or in itunes has changed. Anyone know what would cause this? Is it safe to import music into itunes at the moment? Will things not be saved to the library?

Still not the problem. Tracks are imported by itunes. Tracks are save to HD. Tracks show up in itues library. Close itunes... tracks still on HD, but not in library. No security changes have been made. This is a 500GB HD that is over half full music , all in my itunes library, and now for some reason itunes cannot associate with these new files. No updates have happened, I've rolled back to a system point predating my problem, problem still there.

  • IPod cannot be synced You do not have enough access for this operation

    Hi,
We have one computer. My daughter & I have our own seperate user accounts via Vista through which we each have our own ITune accounts. ITunes music appears to be filed through C>User>Music>ITunes/ITunes Music (User being both myself & my daughter).
I have tried copying music from User Me to User daughter, but I keep getting the following message: -
*The User Ipod cannot be synced. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation.*
Can anyone help me please? The music is legitimate either from ITunes or other audio CD's.
An idiots guide to correcting this would be appreciated.
    Thx again

Are you trying to use two itunes libraries on one iPod? If I'm not mistaken, you can't do this. You can try adding the songs from her library to yours and then syncing. It's just a guess so I may be completely wrong. There may already be a thread that addresses this so if you haven't tried already you should do a search to see if anyone else has already covered this topic.

  • I have a new PC and I am getting the message "The iTunes Library File cannot be saved.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."  I am the only one using this PC and I have Windows 7 Pro and have an administrator account.  Help

Can anyone help me with this problem.  ITunes message," The iTunes library file cannot be saved.  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."   I have administrator account and transferred files from old PC.  I downloaded new iTunes program on new PC.  I synced my iPhone to new PC, no problem.  I deleted old account after indicating shared files to new admin account.  Can anyone help?

A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them!

    Hi there Br0x,
You may want to try rebuilding the iTunes library as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

I since yesterday get the message "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occured (-54)". I have an iMac running MacOsX 10.7.2. I have tried rearranging the preferences with respect to the Media file. This seems to work?.... However I wait and see for the next days.

Don't know what changed today but it downloaded and installed on the shuffle. So far so good.

  • Error message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54).

I opened iTunes and downloaded 2 songs from http://www.reverbnation.com. Shortly after I started getting this error message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54). Anyone dealt with this before?

    == Error -54 ==
From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Some of the old codes still apply to OSX although there is no formal list of OSX error codes.)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
