Permissions repair complete

It sounds like you used the 10.5.1 update using Software Update.
Download the larger 110MB file of 10.5.1 directly from Apple and this will most likely take care of all but one SUID warning.
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1051update.html
The remaining warning is normal and will cause no problems.

This message came after I repaired permissions on MB with Leopard - any idea what it means and is it important or not - something to do with Remote Management which was selected at start up - can tis be deleted or removed and what is remote management anyway - I was not aware of it being in the Tiger OS version beofre I upgraded.
    Thanks
    RC

It's normal. Other people are getting it too. Just disregard it for now.

  • Warning message when repairing permissions

I Just repaired permissions and the usual large list showed up. But this time I got a message that says:
"Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreService...ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
I navigated to that site and could not find a SUID file. Does anyone know what that stands for and could this be a problem?
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Rich

    Thanks Macjack,
I seemed to get that response after updating to 10.6.7 and my confusion is that when I go to Core Service Folder in the Library, I don't even see any SUID File at all? And this is the first time I have ever received a warning that a file has been modified and not repaired. Have you seen a warning like this before?

  • Warning Message when Repair Permissions

When I "Repair Permissions" I get the following warning: Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Does anyone know what this means?

That means that a recent version of Apple Remote Desktop is installed. Ignore it and any of these other messages.

I received the following warning after running Repair Disk Permissions:

My computer has been crashing a lot. Apple ran hardware tests and everything appears to be running OK. Could this message hold the key to my problems?

Probably not, please read this Apple Advice Letter:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
However it would be very beneficial if you provide more information about the circumstances and specifications of your iMac to determine why it's crashing. Also if you are running Activity Monitor to check and see how much FREEE RAM you have and if there are any processes taking up a lot of % CPU.

Any idea of what's causing these warnings? Is this a problem I should correct or worry about?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This looks like a carbon copy to the message I found after repairing permissions. It happened as well after installing Mac OS X Leopard. I verified my Startup Disk, it checked out ok. The reason why I did these repair and verification moves was because my Toast 8 crashed each time upon trying to start it up. I had no problems with it before, neither with any prior Toast version, down to Toast 2 (I believe, I started with Toast 2). When I installed the Leopard I did an upgrade only, not an "erase and install." I just dreaded to do a zillion re-installations of all applications. I hope somebody comes up with some good suggestions. Or is it possible that this has to do with those typical bugs that seem to be unavoidable at the release of a new system software?

What you are seeing are messages. It's ok.. it won't do any good to repeatedly repair permissions. As long as you see Repair Permissions Complete when it's finished, you are good to go.
Also, if you see any messages that say: SUID: That can be ignored.
Mac OS X: Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions messages that you can safely ignore
Keep in mind, the only time you need to repair permissions is for troubleshooting.

  • Warning message after permission check, repair

When I repaired permissions, I got this message; Warning:SUID File "system/library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent" has been modified. Do I need to do something about this?

There is nothing to worry about or do; see this Apple article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
FWIW, I usually get at least 10 or so.

Reinstall the 10.5.2 COMBO update and repair permissions. That should fix things. Alternatively, search these forums for ACL, sort by date, and read the responses and the article Apple posted three months ago: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306925

  • Odd Messages While Repairing Permissions

Had that annoying spinning beach ball today, so I used software update and then repaired permissions after. Never had a message like this before in all my mac years:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/lppaswd" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    No other permissions were repaired.
Um . . . HUH? I have two firewalls on this thing and have to approve even outgoing print jobs manually. I'd be surprised if I had anyone get n here, but anything is possible. I sync to mobileme and my iphone and ipod video. Have a wireless keyboard and mouse, but no other bluetooth devices. My wireless network is hidden and secured with a password. . .
I'm the only user, the computer is only a few weeks old.
Should I be worried? Should I be deleting something? Would love some thoughts and opinions!
    Thanks in advance!
    Sharon

A commonly known situation. See Mac OS X 10.5- Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions reports issues with SUID files.
No, you need not be worried.

  • Weird Msg after repairing permissions

    hello
    I am on Lion OS,
I repaired permissions and got the following message
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
What is it.? and do I fix it?

You can safely ignore this message. It is accurate, but not a cause for any concern.

  • Obscure error message while repairing permissions

OSX 10.6.3. While repairing permissions, I spotted this strange message: Warning. SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices..." has been modified and will not be repaired."
Seems a little strange. I've done nothing exotic that would modify the system in such a way.
Anyone have an idea what's gone wrong?

Nothing... that message can be safely ignored.

  • Slightly worring warning when I repair permissions in disk utility.

    Hi there.
Apologies if this appears like I'm posting in multiple sections. I've already put this in the MacBook forum, then realised it might be more relavent here.
    When I repair permissions, I'm getting the following error message;
*Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.*
Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm not noticing any funny behaviour, but I'd be happier if I wasn't getting this warning.

I believe this is a standard benign error. Search around a little, probably using the this year or last year option in the search page. You'll probably find a link to the KB article that says specifically that this is ok.

  • BOMBOS interface "warning" message after changes saved in the BOM.

    Hello,
We our client is facing an issue, regarding BOM change / Modification in CS02.
After any modifications saved in the BOM (transaction CS02), in SLG1 transaction system gives u201Cwarning messageu201D as given below.
    1.     Entry already exists in the work list
For components, system is giving following message.
    2. Item material PPA_FORM_NU001 (Material number) is not assigned to a specification
We found one note for this u2013 u201Csapnote_0000893616_BOMBOS_Specification not foundu201D, this note is already applied in the program by SAP at 2005.
Because of this note, program creates the message in SLG1.
We also found that, in the IMG customization >>>
Environment Health & Safety > Product Safety > Bill Of Material Transfer > Specify Environment parameter & condition for the parameter u201CBOMBOS_WL_DIALOGu201D parameter value is u201CXu201D. If we remove this value, then system gives error message in the SLG1.
    We want to know,
    1.     Why we have such entries in SLG1?
    2.     What is the goal of this standard BOMBOS interface?
    3.     What is the impact of this warning message in the process of the transaction?
    4.     To solve this, is there any solution?
    Please confirm us.
    Thanks in advance.
