Hello,
i want to make the currency translation and it works, but everytime there is one message that irritates me.
SPRunConversion Version 7.0.114
Warning : No Rate found in the opening period
20081200 - 18 Rows Calulated
20081200 - 0 Rows Updated
What is the opening period and where can i set the parameter for each entity?

Hi Dirk,
Opening period is normaly used for carry forward rules, but you get this warning in currency conversion also.
You can set the parameters for Opening Period in the CATEGORY Dimension.
First Parameter is OPENING_PERIOD : if its blank it uses the last month of a year (=> DEC if you use calendar year)
Second Parameter is OPENING_YEAR: blank means previous year (same as inserting -1)
This means, if you calculate budget for the whole year or a month in 2009, Opening Period is 2008.DEC.
If you dont have any rates in Time = 2008.DEC;Category=Budget (for each of your specific rates) you will get this warning.

After saving a file using Excel 2010 in the My Documents folder, it cannot be found using the open button in Excel 2010

When certain files are saved using Excel 2010 to the My Documents folder, they cannot be found by using the Open button within Excel 2010. But the file is always found using My Computer and following the path to My Documents. What is
even odder is that if I do a "Save As" within Excel and rename the file to the same name but with a "!" at the beginning of the name, it will then show up in the Excel Open window. There doesn't seem to be a distinct pattern as to
when the file can or cannot be displayed by the Excel Open button.
I am using Windows 7 64bit along with Office 2010 64bit. Windows has current service packs and updates. There are perhaps 200 - 400 Excel files in the My documents folder. Some of them are .XLS and some are .XLSX.

Do you mean that you can't find the Excel file when you click Excel->Open->My Documents folder?
Do you use the other folder path to test?
Dose the issue occur in other Office suits (Word, Power Point)?
Do you get some error message, like "Windows cannot find 'FilePath\FileName', Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."?
Please try the following methods:
Method1:
1. Go to the registry. Click START, and in the RUN command line type REGEDIT and hit ENTER or click OK.
2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\Shell\Open\Command
3. Double click on the (Default) instance over to the right. Right now this probably says something like:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /dde
Change this value to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /e "%1"
4. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\Shell\Open\Command
Again, double click the (Default) entry to the right and change
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /dde
to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /e "%1"
Note : Please backup the registry key before you modify.

Click the File tab, and then click Options.

Open period in the future month and year.

Hi,
I am doing testing data for GR PO. The open period is on Jan and Feb 2008 (since its a testing client). I've changed my posting & document date to Jan 2008, but still the system keep prompting the error message "Posting only possible in periods 2008/02 and 2008/01 in company code". Shouldn't the system already allow the posting. It is understood if only msg "Document date lies in the future. (Check your entry)" is prompted.
Is there any configuration that relate on this. Hope someone can help me...

Unable to close the posting periods in MM

Hello
while using MMPV the system says that the date not current calender year. If I check OMSY the open year is 2002.I need to know that how you close the open periods of previous years.I am supposed to close all the periods one by one but how to close them for the year 2002.
I tried to initialise the periods as well but the system asks me to check OSS notes 487381 before initialisation.
Please guide me as I've read all the threads related to this error but still unable to close the periods.

Hi,
You need to close the periods one by one from 2002. There is no other way.
Go to OMSY check what is the current period,
e.g it is 02/2002.
then got MMPV,
Enter 03 and year as 2002 then execute, repeate till 12/2002,
then again start MMPV from 01/2003 to 12/2003. you have to perform this till current period of 2008.

FI - Restrict Open periods

I am implementing FICO and we already have deployed FIGL in our company. I need to restrict open periods from displaying. I am not sure whether I should restrict at the extraction or bring in the open periods and restrict based on T001B table in ECC which stores the open and closed periods at a given point. looking for the best solution if someone has implemented this.

Hi,
BI system is a common system used for reporting the R3 system data. Hence it is always advisable to pull all the data to BI and at report level you can filter on those data.
In the Reporting cube level add a field called ZPeriod apart from 0FISCPER you have , Add an attribute Validity to this Zperiod infoobject maintain them with status fields like O for Open Periods C for Closed Periods.
In the report restrict the Validity field with C for getting only closed periods data.
ZPERIOD infobject has to updated with status daily from T001b from ECC system so that attribute will always have correct periods and their validity status. This is a good and dyanmic method of solution which can be used at report level.
All these loads automate thro process chain so that no manual activity will be available.
Dont go for filtering of data and if some other users need FIGL data as of today for validating or tallying it becomes difficult.

I'm having EBS 11.5.9 on Oracle9.2.0.4 db.I'm using UNDO management auto.Open period is taking longer.Per metalink note 136012.1 I may think manual undo managemnet.DOes any one had have issue,if yes what would be fix? If not does any one having 9i db and using MANUAL undo manager in EBS11.5.9 ?

OIC Error - Processed date must be within open periods

We have setup the GL Calendar as well as the periods in the GL. We are still facing this problem.
In the compensation manager responsibilty in Manage Transacations --> Create The error mentioned in the snapshot occurs while creating the new manual transaction.Though we have setup the primary ledger, the accounting calculator as well as the open periods and the date being selected in the Processed Date is within the open period specified as shown in the snapshot but still we are facing this error A tip for this could be that how will we know that our Operating Unit is attached to that particular ledger. If we can confirm that the OU selected in the snaphot is associated to the ledger for which we have defined the open period.
Any help will be much appreciated

MRP: Planning horizon & opening period

please, explain what is "MRP planning horizon" and what is the impact on MD03 ?

Planning horizon is the Time period in days, MRP will consider the requirements for Planning. We can define this in number of days in OPPQ and/or in OPPR.
Simply it is = Cumulative lead time + Longest batching period.
You can define the Planning horizon in OPPQ/OPPR as mentioned above
& under MRP group then we assign this MRP group to material master in MRP1 view.
NETPL ( Net change planning in planning horizon) you will get it in MD02, MD01: With this processing key only material where the indicator NETPL has been set in planning calendar are planned.For example if we set planning horizon as 30 days then in the material in which MRP relevant changes happened in last 30 days will only be planned. This planning restricts the scope of planning or number of material which reduces the runtime of planning run. Planning horizon is the period beyond it, requirements don't generate planned orders.
Opening Period is...
Opening period is like a "release window". The length of the opening period is the window of opportunity a planner has to convert the planned order to a purchase req.
For example - Component A has a lead time of 14 days and opening period of 5 days. Requirement on 12-22-03
Opening Date - 01/12/09
Start Date - 08/12/09
Finish Date - 22/12/09
Now the planner can convert the order starting Dec. 1st, instead of Dec. 8. It basically is a buffer in the lead time to get things on order a little sooner than needed.

Problems with the posting period....

Hi guys,
every once in a while the old problem with the posting periods occurs. This morning it hit me and I went out to repair it.
Starting out from MMRV I checked the open period and it said 062009.
Using MMPV, by mistake, I opened 112009, so that I'm able to post to 112009 PLUS the previous period 102009 (which is ok so far). Later on I checked OB52 to see, if finance is not the problem. The opened period lasts from 012009 to 122009.
Long story short: everything seems perfectly alright, however it still doesn't work. It says: Posting only possible in periods 2009/11 and 2009/10 in company code 1000
I don't see where there could be a problem now...
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
It is possible to re-open a previously closed period. However, it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous period could be affected.
In general, it is only safe to reopen a previously closed period when no material postings have been done after the period shifting to the new period.
If there has already been postings after the period shifting to the new period, reverting the period back will cause database inconsistencies in the history tables.
If you decide to proceed with this process, you can use the program RMMMINIT, but, please review the documentation of this program first!! and the check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
Steps are as below;
Go to Transaction Code SE38
Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 01/10/2009 for Oct. 2009 month to be opened as of now
That means, user can post for the month of sept 2009 as well as Oct. 2009
Refer SAP Note No. 487381 for more details.
As per SAP Notes 487381 ( If the periods are opened in advance in mmpv to again change it to current period the following process should be follow ), Go to Tcode MMPI, then go to menu bar and select system -> user profile->owndata.In that screen , under the parameters tab enter MMPI_READ_NOTE in Parameter ID field and enter, then under short description you will get Initialise period. Next Save.
Again go to MMPI enter company code, period and year and execute.
Other way of doing it is follow these steps: ( *TRY in Sandbox But do not try in PRODUCTION SYSTEM*)
1. Use t.code: OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
2. Use t.code: OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
3.Go to OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.

Transaction process".
Details are as follows:
Transaction is Done on 30-NOV-2009.
Source Org Period is open on 30-NOV-2009
Destination Org Period is closed on 30-NOV-2009.
Due to destination Org is closed, this transactions stuck in interface.
I have opened the Cost Periods (DEC Month) for both Source and Destination Org, and resubmitted all lines after updating Transaction date to 01-DEC-2009. Still transaction could not go through.
How should I handle this error?
