Warning on first startup of FCE 4.0

I have a question about FCE 4 that I just got 2 days ago. When I first started it up, I got a warning that FCE may not operate as advertised because my video card was not up to snuff and may not run Quartz Extreme(I'm paraphrasing).
I have a PM G4 1.25 GHz DP with a stock ATI Radeon 9000 Pro with 64MB of DDR SDRAM video card. It is installed in an AGP 4X graphics slot. The original specs advertise "Mac OS X with Quartz Extreme".
The System Requirements for FCE 4 are:
"*An AGP or PCI Express graphics card compatible with Quartz Extreme;* or an Intel GMA integrated graphics processor in a MacBook or Mac mini computer.
I am not doing any HD stuff (yet), just DV, and haven't seen anything unusual since installing. Rendering is a bit faster.
What, if anything, should I be aware of that I am not?

Did this operating system comes with this PC (OEM)?
Did you also having issue with Windows Genuine?
If yes, maybe graphic card manufactured caused this issue. I suggest contact HP to guide you to troubleshot Hardware issue. Based on my experience, OEM OS will have abnormal behavior since there is replacement CPU, graphic card, memory ect. HP build and
test this PC based on their own specification, check the HW upgrade suggestion at HP site. try to update the driver like CPU and BIOS

my libvirtd seems to crash, but only on the first startup:

    root@horus /home/florian # /etc/rc.d/libvirtd start

    Now libvirtd is running fine.
    Any clue to that?
Another question in this context: virt-manager says when I try to add a new machine that KVM is not available. Though it seems to be just fine. I'm using qemu package and qemu --enable-kvm runs fine (though I haven't done any speed tests yet).
    Thanks!

So even if I just ask to pay them to replace the lock button they won't because my screens are third-party?
Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement.  They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device.  Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now.  They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

Subsequent startups on the same day proceed without interruption and without a problem report, until the first startup of the next day. I normally shut down the computer over night. The iMac operates normally after any of these startups, interrupted or not. Apple Hardware Test reports no problems.
This behavior is annoying, but not very problematic so far. Does anyone have a likely explanation or suggested cure?

    BDAqua wrote:
Have you tried just sleeping it at night?
It appears to be graphic card related.
Have you blown the dust out lately?
    Thanks very much for answering.
Sleeping the iMac at night would work, I'm sure, since it's only on a cold restart that the unplanned restart occurs. Not as satisfying as curing the issue, though.
Apple Hardware Test reported nothing wrong with the graphic card, but the computer is not cold by the time the test is run, so I guess that could still be it.
I'm sure there is dust inside after three + years. Apple didn't really want me to open up my iMac, but this Core 2 Duo model can be opened by lifting off the glass with suction cups, I believe. Maybe I will do that and dust, and see if that helps. There might even be something I can reseat.
Also, I believe that on my next cold startup I will try single user mode and see if that prevents the restart.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Safari 4.0.3 slow on first Startup after Rebooting/Booting System. 10.6.1

Found this Video and I have excately the same problem.
    Safari Slow Startup - Video
On the first startup after system boot safari is very slow. After that everything is back to normal.
What's up with this? Anybody else?

A quick update on this. And @BroSter, find uninstalling instructions for SafariBlock below. CHEERS!
    1) ClickToFlash is not the problem. Just update it to v1.6b2 which works flawless for me. Get it here:
    http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/
    2) Uninstalling SafariBlock:
Go to Macintosh HD -> Library -> InputManagers and delete the SafariBlock folder. You'll need administrative privileges to do this, and you may need to restart your computer for the change to take effect.

  • First startup after PC boot takes too long / too slow

    Hello there.
I've been experiencing this problem for about a year now but never actually thought it was a problem until I saw how fast FF can really start up on another computer.
Searching this issue on google mostly suggested to delete themes and plugins, emptying cache, etc but it didnt help in my case.
What I noticed is that when starting firefox for the first time on a recently booted computer it takes far too long to start up - 30-60sec. However exiting firefox and then restarting it is actually as fast as it should be. It is always the first startup that takes really long.
I am also sure that it does '''not ''' have to do with the fact that I am trying to start firefox while the whole OS is still loading with all its background processes.
Leaving the OS to load completely and then starting firefox also leads to a slow startup.
I hope someone can help me with this issue.
    Many thanks!
    Leo
My OS is Win7 64bit, 4gb RAM, using FF 10.0

If you opt in for sending data to Firefox, that includes information about start-up times. The developers use that feedback to analyse problems and improve firefox. As you say themes and other software extensions to Firefox may increase startup times. Another thing you may do to speed up the startup is take the option to load tabs later not immediately.
    * use '''Firefox Button -> Options -> | General | -> []Dont load tabs until selected'''
** see [[options window - general panel]]
    * for other advice and suggestions read [[Firefox takes a long time to start up]]

  • JMS Warning on weblogic startup

The JMS experts may here know better. Looking hard to resolve this issue relaated to JMS. can anyone help here.
Re: JMS Warning on weblogic startup

I'm not familiar it, but apparently there's a feature in the security subsystem that allows propagating security information for "L2 Caches" via JMS, and it is this feature that's generating the Warning -- not JMS itself.
I do not happen to know how this feature works, what kind of JMS configuration it expects, or if the Warning is simply a natural ephemeral part of the boot/initialization process of the security feature that can be ignored.

  • New Mac Pros won't connect to the first startup volume

I have five new Mac Pros running 10.4.8; I set a couple network volumes as startup items which has always worked fine before. But on these new machines, no matter what the first startup volume is, it gives me this error:
    Connection failed
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
Then goes on to connec to the next volume fine. We have a Win2K Server and a Win2003 Server, and it acts the same way with both of them. It seems like something on the Mac must be timing out too fast. I have checked the logs and they don't help me at all. I have repaired permissions, run FSCK, done all the periodic maintenance and safe-booted but none of it has helped. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks!

Though this TIL says 10.3.9 or earlier, I find this might apply...
"Selecting the "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications" option in Network preferences can sometimes cause this issue. "
As well as a few other possibilities...

  • Ssd drive slow to start on first startup

I have a Samsung SSD 840 EVO Drive Model # MZ-7TE750BW that runs fast once it has started. The first startup if more than a day takes longer than the SATA drive it replaced. Once it has started the first time it is very fast and it then waits for me. The first startup I wait for it to get going. I have looked all over and cannot find an answer for this problem. I am thinking it might have something to do with when the drive powers down on its own for power savings (sleep mode) it takes a long time to wake. Is there a way to keep the SSD drive awake always as it is just memory and power use must be low anyways. I am running Mavericks 10.9.4 and 10.9.5 is the same.
Hope someone can help with this problem.

  • X99S BIOS can't find boot drive on first startup

I bought a new computer with a MSI x99S motherboard and SSD primary drive and Window 7 installed. On every first startup I get a text display stating no boot disk found. The work around is to bring the bios up (Click BIOS 4 version E7885121 V17.22B3(HM3)  ) and exit. The boot order is correct in the settings. This happens every time I start up, I have to go into BIOS make no changes and exit which then goes to a successful OS boot. Something if fubar. OS disk is fine... Very frustration, I got to the point of just leaving it on but after a few days it crashes, so back to the bios boot nightmare. What am I missing?

I think what you bought is a whole PC. The BIOS version seems not a standard BIOS. We can't help since we don't know what did it modify in this vsrsion. I'd suggest report the issue to where you bought.
Also share the boot sequence if possible.

  • IBook G4 cannot find system after update to 10.4.8 the first startup

    Hi,
I recently updated the iBook G4 of my girlfriend from Mac OS X 10.4.6 to 10.4.8. After restart the iBook showed up the icon for not being able to find a system to startup from. I then turned the iBook off and turned it on again, now the iBook started up just fine from the previously updated system.
But since then, every time the iBook becomes started up it's the same procedure: First it cannot find a system to start up from, then we turn the iBook off and on again and then it starts up just fine. Any ideas why?
Additonally, we now found some error with disk utility on the start up disk. I started the iBook from an 10.4.6 installation disk, checked and repaired the disk. The checked it again, no error found anymore... Started up from the iBooks hard drive, checked with the disk utility from the 10.4.8 system there and this one found error again. Does this make sense?
    Any ideas are really appreciated!

Go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and reselect the system you want to use to startup the computer and then select Restart which should resolve the startup problem.
Started up from the iBooks hard drive, checked with the disk utility
from the 10.4.8 system there and this one found error again. Does
    this make sense?
Not sure if this is considered a bug but this has been reported by others which you can ignore.
I use Disk Utility from the Startup volume to repair disk permissions only, never to Verify Disk which you shouldn't use to check the boot volume for any directory errors with Disk First Aid repair via Disk Utility when booted from your Tiger install disc either.
When doing so, better to select Repair Disk right off the bat and if no problems are reported, you are done. No point in selecting Verify Disk to verify again.
If a problem is reported via Verify Disk and you run Repair Disk to repair the problem and if successfully repaired, no point in running Verify Disk again in this situation either. Best to run Repair Disk only and if any problems are reported and successfully repaired, run Repair again until no problems are reported which saves a step/time and is more efficient.

  • Warning message on startup

    Hi Everyone,
I'm very new to Fireworks. Just starting to learn it with my
trusty "Macromedia Studion 8 For Dummies"!
On startup I'm getting the message "Problem loading the

    any available content".
The program seems to run ok, but I don't understand what's
causing this message or where I may have requested a language 'en'.
Any ideas anyone? And how do I get rid of the warning
    message?
Many thanks for your time if anyone can help - sorry if it's
    a dumb question.

  • Warning message on startup and 3D disabled

A little while ago I started receiving a message on Photoshop startup saying that 3D requires a minimum of 512mb of vRAM.I havn't made any changes to my hardware.
I have a ATI 5700 graphics card installed, I don't really know what vRAM is but when I run a DxDiag it reports that there is 4095mb on the card, is this the vRAM, i don't know? If not how can I determine how vRAM I have?
    Thanks,

The application seems to be running fine though.
    Please help!!!

Thanks Timo for the reply. checklogin.jspx is not the culprit here. It is a page included in every page for checking user privileges which are specific to our application. This page has been there since the beginning of the application (pre upgrade). We are upgrading from 10.1.3g to 11G.
We are in the process of upgrade and till now we did not see it. We were adding removing some taglibs and after that this warning started to appear. The application seems to be working ok.
I just hope it is nothing serious as we are very close to the deadlines.
    Thanks,
