Warning Received : Back-Up to iCloud

I received a warning on my iPhone 4S saying that my iCloud hasn't been back-up on over two weeks.  Need to use WiFi to back-up.  When I got home I plugged-in my iPhone to my Win7 computer and saw this statement " Last backed up to iCloud 2/14/2012  11:59PM .  The button saying "Back Up to iCloud" is selected rather than the button "Back-Up to this computer".  I'ved Sync'ed my iPhone, yet the statement remains, Last backed up 2/14/20112 which is two weeks ago.
What to I need to do to back-up to iCloud ?

The desired result is for the device to backup to iCloud, correct?  This is what is currently selected and occurs anytime the device is in range of Wi-Fi and plugged into external power.
If the desired result is to backup to the computer, simply change the option on the Summary tab.

  • My new ipad won't back up from iCloud

I just got a new iPad wi-fi/4G LTE and for some reason it won't back up from my iCloud account. When I'm setting up my new iPad it says no back ups available even though I have my old iPad set to receive back ups from iCloud.

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your device.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

My iPhone recently broke so I was sent a brand new iPhone to replace it, however, since receiving this phone, I cannot access anything which was previously backed up onto iCloud from my last iPhone. Please help me!

If you are trying to restore to an iCloud backup, this has to be done during the initial setup process.  If your phone is already set up, you will have to go back to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content & Settings, then go back through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to complete.
Also, your replacement phone must be running the same iOS version or higher to restore to your backup.  If you are running an older version of iOS than the device that was backed up, your backup will not be visible when you choose to restore to your iCloud backup.  If this is the case, you'll have to update your replacement phone first.

  • TS3992 Backing up to iCloud doesn't happen automatically

    Hi,
I had a warning to say that my I-Pod hadn't been backed up to iCloud for 6 weeks. After much effort I discovered how to set up automatic backups to iCloud and, as I expected, automatic backup to iCloud has already been set up. In the settings on my iPod Touch 4th Generation, which is also on the latest ios, iCloud backup is on and, according to the description below it should automatically backup but it's not automatically backing up. I normally access the internet through home or college wireless networks all of which are stored and recognized by my iPod Touch and, I've connected my iPod to my computer several times and it hasn't backed up to iCloud. I'm assuming, given all those conditions, that every time I'm at home and in range of my home wireless networks, provided the iCloud backup option is showing as On, it should backup automatically either any time I'm in a known wireless network and/or when I connect my iPod to my computer. I've just tried to back up again now and it's coming up with the error message "The last backup could not be completed" but the iPod is connecting to the internet now (seconds after telling the backup couldn't be completed) so there's no problem with the settings and no problem with the internet connection so why's it not backing up?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

From the TS3992 article you attached above:
To set your iOS device to back up automatically, go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup and turn on iCloud Backup. When iCloud Backup is turned on, iCloud automatically backs up your iOS device daily. This daily backup can occur only when the device meets all of these conditions:
The device is connected to a power source.
The device is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi.
    The device's screen is locked.

  • How do I prevent files from being backed up to iCloud and iTunes?

I have created the ios app using adobe AIR16 and flash cc. After submission of my aap into aapstore, I received a message from Apple with the following message –
    From Apple
2.23 - Apps must follow the iOS Data Storage Guidelines or they will be rejected.
By using xcode we can prevent files from being backed up to icloud and itunes, but i want to know that  what is the way to achieve this by using AIR. While creating an explicit app id from apple developer account , i am not enabling icloud support.

Within AIR you can set the File.preventBackup property to true on a directory or file to prohibit that content from being backed up to the cloud:
    File - Adobe ActionScript® 3 (AS3 ) API Reference
This is all you need to call when you first create the folder or file to have it work with iOS backup guidelines.

  • Just bought a new iPhone and I can't back up to iCloud.

Just bought a new iPhone and I can't back up to iCloud. The error message says "Not enough storage". When I go to Settings>iCloud, it gives me 2 devices, my old iphone 4s has 3.5GB, the new 4s has 0KB. When I go to delete the old backup the warning says "Do you want to turn off backup and delete all backup data from iCloud?" That is definitely not what I want to do. How do I keep my data from my old phone? All I am backing up are contacts and calendar, my photos have never been backed up on iCloud. Don't get why that is taking up all the storage.

Deleting the backup from your old phone only permanently deletes the backup from iCloud.  It doesn't do anything to the data on your phone, or the iCloud data your are syncing with iCloud.  If you no longer need the backup of your other phone you can go ahead and delete it to free up space in your iCloud account.

    Hi,
I was facing issues with both backup and FB integration after the iOs 6 upgrade.  Before then I did not have any issues with the iCloud backup service, but after a few days, I noticed that it was continually stuck at the Estimating time for the backup and it never progressed.
As any good techie would, I tackled the most pressing issue first . . . FB integration of course.
I had read in a separate post about this solution so tried it . . .
I deleted the original FB app and hard booted the phone.  I then went into settings and entered the data for FB integration.  Seconds later, I received a text message to my phone - already listed and verified in FB with a 6 digit code to re-enter instead of my password.  Seconds later I was verified and then prompted to download the FB app.  All backup and integrated.
Then I went into the iCloud backup, turned it off . . . and deleted the last backup.  I then re-enabled backup . . . and although I thought I was going to face the same issue, after a few minutes, it moved on from Estimating time . . . to actually backing up.  It is now a small way through the backup and seems to estimate that it will take another two hours to complete.
A good nights work.  Backup and integration all sewed up.  Good luck.
    Cheers
    Ian

  • My iPhone 5 needs to be restored, but I'm not backed up to iCloud

I plugged in my phone to my computer today to sync with iTunes, and I received a message claiming that I need to restore my phone. I'm not backed up to iCloud. In fact, my iCloud has never backed up on this phone, and I've never been able to get it to work. I'm currently trying to.
I believe it's been backed up to my computer, but I'm really unsure. Is there any way that I can check to see if it has?
I'd really like to not lose all of my data, please help!
    -Rachel

To see if your phone has been backed up to the computer, start iTunes. From there, go to Edit, Preferences, Devices, and check to see if you see a backup listed there, and what the date is. If it is sometime not to long ago, you are in luck. If there isn't, your in trouble. Once the phone goes into recovery mode, the data is already gone.
Remember, restore the device, and then if you do use a backup you found on the computer, that restore will be to that date/time of the backup, and anything done since that time/date is lost.

  • I have just purchased the iPhone 5s and my previous phone was backed up on iCloud. However when I restored this on my new phone my photos are still being restored after 4 days. Shows the amount there but no pictures?

I have just purchased the iPhone 5s and my previous phone was backed up on iCloud. However when I restored this on my new phone my photos are still being restored after 4 days. Shows the amount there but no pictures? Is there anything I can do to get them back as my other phone has now been cleared. On my iCloud storage it still shows that my previous phone had all the info still?? I'm confused!

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
    See:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

  • After I restored my ipad I chose itunes restore. now how can I get my info of which is backed up from icloud?.

    hi all!
Reseting ipad, we are asked to restore info from icloud or itunes. If we choose icloud, the info will be restored, but the apps on the ipad should be downloaded from app. store! because icloud can't save the applications. and If we choose to restore with itunes, the apps will be loaded quickly ,But still we need our info in icloud. and if we go to icloud backup , from ipad settings, we just have one choice: back up now! that backs up the new info, not our backed up info. but we need our backed up info.
After I restored my ipad I chose itunes restore. now how can I get my info of which is backed up from icloud?

This is called "stealing". You do not have the legal right to give her the music you have in your iTunes library unless you are the copyright holder.
when syncing it it said she had to update her phone software first
That's not quite what it said.  Someone should have paid more attention to the great big warning about the possibility of losing data if the phone wasn't backed up.
We cannot find her new photos. Please help and there was 100 new pics. Is there any way we can get them back. I already have the program Asoftech - but it doesnt seem to register the iphone only C and D drive. Please help!
It restored the backup that was made on your computer 6 months ago, which did not contain those photos. You're wasting your time trying to find them on the phone. They don't exist.
Hopefully, your friend syncs her phone to her own computer on a regular basis. She needs to plug her phone into her computer and restore it from her last backup. That will restore it to the state it was in when the backup was made.
She also needs to get in the habit of extracting the photos on a regular basis, like she would from any other digital camera.

  • IOS 5 ipad not backing up to icloud

I have given a friend a number of my older Apple devices that he likes to use with older IOS. Before the start of October, all of his devices were backing up to icloud with no problem. Suddenly, the 3 devices(iphone, ipad 1, and ipad 2) stopped backing up to icloud, but his iphone with IOS 6 is still backing up to icloud. I doubt there are many people out there still using IOS 5, but has anyone else experienced this problem? My feeling is that Apple is not supporting icloud backup for IOS 5 devices due to the fact his IOS 6 phone is working fine.
We have tried a number of fixes. We have removed the icloud account from his phone, tried using another icloud account, etc. We have deleted the backup of the ipad 1. Nothing has worked. The same error appear about 30 seconds after attempting an icloud backup. It says something to the effect of "an error has occurred. The icloud backup did not complete."
We don't want to erase one of the devices and go back to factory settings. My friend likes using IOS 5 and does not want to update the phones. Any ideas/solutions? Thanks in advance for the help.

    You can try this:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (they will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  Use this to backup the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts/groups) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap each of your accounts (Google, exchange, etc.) and turn off contacts syncing with these other accounts.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other groups back to your device and to iCloud.
(I'm not sure if this works with Facebook contacts or not.)

  • IPhone 6 failing to back up to iCloud

I am running 8.1.2 on an iPhone 6. I have 155 GB of iCloud storage free. I have three other devices that are backing up to iCloud regularly (they all backed up in the middle of this past night). There are also backups for two old devices being stored in iCloud. I am not using iCloud Drive on any devices.
The problem is my iPhone hasn't run a successful backup since 11/27 (that was 8.1.1, maybe? I'm not sure). I've tried to manually run the backup, and it starts fine but then stops with no error message. I've tried it plugged in, on wifi, and with the screen locked (after manually kicking off the backup), and it fails (also fails with the screen unlocked, unplugged, etc). And every night, it's on wifi/locked/plugged in. No dice. I'm hesitant to remove the existing backup that's up there since it's the only one I have (even if it's 6 weeks old).
Any thoughts? I've googled a lot over the past few weeks but haven't found any posts/articles about this exact issue. All the ones I've seen have been about people receiving messages about their iCloud storage being full, but I'm not getting any messages like that. Or any messages at all. Bah.
    Thank you in advance!!

Another of my devices started having this same problem (rather, it had been having it but I hadn't noticed because I don't use it that much), and I finally gave in and decided to delete the six-week-old iCloud backups I had for both my phone and that device (an iPad also running 8.x). After deleting the backups, I turned iCloud backup back on, plugged in the devices, and forced an iCloud backup to start—then crossed my fingers and went to bed. When I got up in the AM, both devices had successfully backed up, finally. I haven't checked the iPad since that night (a couple nights ago) to see if it's been backing up on its own, but my iPhone has backed up successfully on its own since then, each night. So whatever the problem was, it seems to have had something to do with the backups that were in the cloud.

  • Why Can't I receive mail in my icloud email address?

I am not able to receive messages to my icloud email address, what's going on please?

If this is happening on your iOS device, you might try deleting and recreating the account by going to Settings>iCloud, unchecking Mail, then checking Mail again.  Or, on a Mac, by going to System Preferences>iCloud, unchecking Mail, restarting your Mac, then going back and checking Mail again.

I had to get my computer cleaned off. I have itunes back now how do i get my phones items back on itunes? I was backed up on icloud

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • My iPad screen is stuck on an alert message telling me that I have not backed up to iCloud in 5 weeks. How do I get pass this alert message?

My iPad screen is stuck on an alert message that is informing me that I have not backed up to iCloud in 5 weeks. How do I get pass this alert message.

I have been dealing with this problem since upgrading to ios 6.  I have an old ipod touch that is still running ios 5.? that backs up daily with no problem whatsoever.  I have attemped every solution posted on these help boards (i.e. deleting accounts, turning off all apps from back-up, restarting device, changing routers, attempting back-ups through different wifi spots) sometimes one or a combination of these band-aid fixes will work for a day or two, then suddenly the ipad (version 3) will simply stop backing up, and I will spend hours of frustration going through all the tedious fixes.  All the while my old ipod touch running ios 5 backs up daily with no problem whatsoever.  I have called Apple support and they seemed surprised that this is a problem and offer no real solution whatsoever.
Until Apple gets their head out of the sand on this one, and actually fixes the obvious bug that exists is ios 6 this problem will continue and will not be resolved.
