Warning Store BEA-280104 on AIX 64 bit , WLS 10.3.3

Why do I see this? Not an issue on WLS 10.3 or non-AIX platforms. I see this only on AIX 6.1
<Oct 15, 2010 2:01:47 PM GMT> <Warning> <Store> <BEA-280104> <The persistent file store "_WLS_AdminServer" will use buffered writes instead of direct IO because
the configured block size "512" is not a multiple of the environment's direct IO alignment "4,096". This may significantly reduce file store performance.>
Server comes up fine and works.

Hi Peter,
I check the SR well I think it not so see to reproduce in other environment.
But we can instead to engineer to reproduce on their environment.
But as of I would suggest to use command line or silent mode to install wls.
Going through GUI will have many complex issue on OS to OS base so best practice is to have such installation using command line or silent modes.
Note: If engineer is unable to reproduce such issue in their environment then Oracle will not consider that is BUG then there would be issue in your environment only.

Kal

  • 64-bit WLS 11G for Solaris?

I can not locate the 64-bit version of WLS 11G for Solaris. When I go to the download page all I see are 32-bit versions (at least they look like 32-bit version as denoted by the filenames such as wls1031_solaris32.bin).
I have attempted to go through the e-delivery site but do not want to download a 21 part 11Gig file if it is not the correct one.
I would appreciate any help at all.

I am pretty confident that you need the 64 bit JVM for your platform, then you need to use the generic installer, this is based on how it has been done in prior releases.
So you can find the available JVM's for your platform here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle%20fusion%20middleware%2011gr1%20(11%201%201%201%200)%20certification%20matrix.xls
In this case that would be Sun JVM 1.6.0_11+
    OR
    JRockit 6 Update 5 R27.6.2+
Then you should be able to run the generic installer here with that downloaded supported JDK:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/wls_main.html
I was not able to find anything specific on the documentation pages that described this process in detail, but you can always open a support case to get some assistance. I will check with the documentation team to see if that is going to be documented or already is.
If you look at the 10gR3 releases, it shows how the generic installer is used, for example:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/platform/suppconfigs/configs/solaris/solaris10_103.html#104355

I tried many solutions, from compatibility mode, to running as admin and even reinstalling all the apple software. Nothing did the trick.
I finally figure it out a way to fix it. Roll back to an older version, pretty much what Atlas Axe did. However, I didn't have an old installer backed up so I had to look for it on the web.
    This is what I did:
    1. Download itunes 11.1.0
       Instructions: http://warrington.ufl.edu/itsp/docs/TAC_InstallingiTunes.pdf
       Direct links:
          - Windows32-bit 94.08MB https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/iTunes11/041-8597.20130918.PmmEw/iTunesSetup.e xe
          - Windows64-bit 95.76MB https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/iTunes11/041-8598.20130918.Exe55/iTunes64Setup .exe
    2. Uninstall all apple software.
       Instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
In a nutshell, uninstall these programs. MUST uninstall in the listed order.
          - iTunes
          - Apple Software Update
          - Apple Mobile Device Support
          - Bonjour
          - Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
    3. Reboot your system
    4. Install Itunes 11.1.0 from the just downloaded installer.

  • JDK 7 + Red Hat 6 64-bit = WLS 10.3.6 and WLS 12.1 installer not working

    Hi,
I have installed Weblogic 10.3.6 and 12.1 on two different Red Hat 6 64-bit servers. I started out using JDK 7 (1.7.0_05) but when I reached the screen where you select which products to install I could not select or deselect anything with the mouse. On others I could not use the keyboard for input. As soon as I switched to JDK 6 everything worked fine.
As a workaround I installed and configured everything with JDK 6 and switched to JDK 7. This works fine and the developers are happy.
But I have discovered that the I have the same problem when I use config.sh, so it is general problem with the GUI and JDK 7.
I opened a Service Request on MOS in June but I don't think the support guy has much of a clue. He has been testing with Windows. His last suggestion was running the installer with -d64, but according to the manual this should only be used when using a 32/64-bit hybrid JDK, which is not the case.
    Anybody has any ideas?

  • XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 and WLS 8.1 sp2

    Hi,
I'm a newbie for WebLogic Server. I started with WLS 8.1 sp2 since I got the book "J2EE Applications and BEA WebLogic Server 2nd Edition" which was written for WLS 8.1.
While XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic (version 5.4 something, built in 2003) is indeed packaged with WLS 8.1 sp2 and can be installed, but it'll pop up a window (ALTOVA License Manager) everytime when I try to use it. This window pops up because the license key is not installed during the installation and therefore can't be used unless a valid key is provided.
I wonder whether I really need to get XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 working in order to use WLS 8.1 just for the purpose of learning. If so, can someone share with me the the key-code for XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 please?
BTW, I tried to find something useful to this question/problem at ALTOVA website, no luck at all.
    Thank you very much.
    JF

    Hi Ravi,
Thanks very much for your very helpful reply.
I got into the problem with xmlspy while I was trying to figure out why the WLS admin console missing the left pane/sidebar. There was only one non-expandable dot sign at the lefttop in the admin console. When I right-click on that little dot icon, the pulldown menu shows one option is to use XMLSPY to check (something along that line). Also, I see the XMLSPY button at the left bottom of my W2003 windows (just next to IE button). So, either way when I invoked XMLSPY I would get that pop up window which tells me there choices: type in a key-code, request for a trial key, or buy a license key. But eventually, I figured out the way to fix my problem - installing a newer version of j2sdk code. However, I wasn't sure whether the xmlspy issue would a hidden problem further down the road for me to learn WLS 8.1.
You're absoluately right commenting on the the right version of WLS to use at the beginning of learning WLS.
I have been VMWare Workstation for several months. I've created a CentOS 5.4 VM with WLS 11g installed. I played with with WLS 11g for a while and even followed through an Oracle online tutorial for that version. But I'm just used to learn something with a hard copy of book and I happen to have this old book on WLS 8.1 which seems to be highly rated before. I may continue to go through this book quickly if I can. However, if I experience too many hard problems down the road, I won't waste too much more time on this path. My long term goal is of course to learn more and better about WLS 11g and other Oracle related framework and tools. There is too much to learn. But the good thing is that Oracle provides everything free to learn. Also, I'm very encouraged by the quality of the Oracle tech group where I can turn for very useful help.
    Thanks again and best regards,

    Sigh...
I just bought a sharp looking G770. I am a trainer, so I need the laptop to run Win2008 R2 Hyper-V for MS pre-configured labs.  I was able to get Hyper-V runnning, but could not bring the hyper-v nodes online. in troubleshooting, i realized that the BIOS did not include the Execute Disable Bits.  I can access and enable virtualization in the BIOS.
Odd though - I can load Win 7, 64-bit ultimate and and run Virtual PC with no problem.
