Warning symbol unicode U 26A0 / Alt 9888 can't display in Illustrator on Windows 7?

Hello all, I am an IT professional trying to help some mac users migrate to PC at our workplace.
Aside from some fonts that are missing, our major problem in moving operating systems is that our PC users are unable to use the warning sign symbol, which should be part of Arial Unicode MS font that is installed on Windows. I am able to type the exclamation point using alt and the numbers, or alt + and the 26A0 and have it appear in nearly all programs except for the creative cloud ones.
Our designers really need this caution symbol. I noticed that on mac os the system seems to pull this symbol from "AppleSymbols" font. There has to be some way to render it in Illustrator on Windows 7. When I use the key shortcuts in adobe programs I get an X'ed box. The same shortcuts render just fine in other programs not part of the adobe family. I really would appreciate input on this issue as it's a little over my head seeing as I know next to nothing about the Adobe applications.
I should note that obviously the mac users have no issue using this character.

I've opened .doc files written in Windows Word in Pages 2009, Mac Word 2008 and Mac Word 2011 and they all fail to show some of the images within these documents. When I open these files in Windows Word, they show up just fine. Why aren't the Macs showing them properly?

Try downloading OpenOffice or LibreOffice and opening them in one of those. They do a better job of importing Word documents than Pages. Once you've got them open, you can save them as RTF and load them into Pages. Pages is nicer to work with, but OO/LO (basically the same application) has better features.

It's hard to say - as You can select to use another one in another location - which I know nothing about.
• to find out where iMovie tries to find material - As I remember it one put the pointer arrow ontop of one yellow exclemation mark and "Hands off" for some secondes - and it will tell.
I use to do a quick - [Shift+cmd+3] to do a screen dump - so that I can read this address in full and try to set all material back to this location. iMovie can not be set to find it elsewhere - only alt is to re-insert material and now not move it - but this is most often a more tedious way - than just move material back to where iMovie tries to find it.

OR
Extension Status is not consistent with extension set configuration."
The reason I opened the Extension Manager in the first place was to check to see if I had installed a third party extension. And I was presented with these warning symbols. I haven't added anything, I haven't done anything that would cause this.
Does anyone know how to fix this???
I am running OSX 10.9.5; Indesign CS6 version 8.0.2 And Adobe Extension Manager version 6.0.8.28.

Many InDesign pre-installed extensions (Those extensions you have immediately after InDesign installation) define dependency rules in their mxi files. Dependency means that one extension works well only if one or more other extensions are installed and enabled. If this condition is not met, the yellow triangle warning will be shown.
You can select an extension with warning, click "Advanced" tag page in the lower right panel. You will see "This extension has dependency on: <extension name> ...". Check whether every extensions listed here are available and enabled. If not, enable them. Repeat these steps for all the extensions which have warning.

Much of that article is now incorrect or unnecessary for JDK 1.5. Because 1.5 knows how to find a font for the character you're trying to display, you should be able to set your label font to any logical font, and the JRE should find a substitute font if necessary that can display the character.
I'll give your code a try and will post results...is the code you've posted the code I should actually experiment with? It seems like you should want to display something different than 0x0065.
Your other questions:
0x0021 is the exclamation mark regardless of font. I see what you mean, however, since the wingdings font in charmap also says 0x0021. However, that mapping is obviously not a Unicode code point mapping.
I looked in the Misc. Symbols and Dingbats section of Uncode. A few characters might be a reasonable substitution for the pencil character you want:
0x270E (LOWER RIGHT PENCIL)
0x270F (PENCIL)
0x2710 (UPPER RIGHT PENCIL)
I didn't see any mirror images of these, ie LOWER LEFT PENCIL and UPPER LEFT PENCIL, although I admit that I didn't look closely.
Maybe one of these will work for you instead of the Wingdings 0x21 character you mentioned.

Thank you for getting back to me. I have a table with columns in it and I’m trying to copy just one of the columns, think of it as a stock table you would get in a newspaper and I just want to copy the column that has all the symbols in it. I use to be able to do this with no problem in previous versions of Adobe Reader by just putting my cursor next to the column I wanted, holding down the Alt key and selecting the data I wanted . But with the new version that came with my new laptop running Window 8.0 I can not accomplish this task. Adobe Reader wants to copy everything in the table. I would take a screen shot to show you, but when I open Reader, it takes over my entire screen and I can not get back to my task bar or desktop without closing the app. If you could also tell me how to correct or adjust this annoyance I would appreciate it. Needless to say I’m not currently a big fan of the new version of Reader. Is there any way I can go back to a previous version of the product with Windows 8 as my OS?

I have a problem in generating my shared object.
My shared object depends on other two shared objects (libAB.so & libXY.so), of which I don't have any control (i.e., I can't modify the source code).
When I try to generate my shared object, the compiler generates the following waring:
ld:warning symbol 'jpeg_std_message_table' has differing sizes:
( file /home/ravinder/libXY.so value=0x1f0; file /home/ravinder/libAB.so value=0x1f4);
/home/ravinder/libXY.so definition taken
Even though this seems to be a warning, when i try to run my program which accesses the functions in the library "libAB.so", my code is blowing out by dumping the core.
Please help me out.
How do I overcome this problem, where I can't access the source code of the dependent libraries.
Is there any compiler option, which resolves this symbol conflict.
Is is it possible to overcome this complex symbol resolution problem?

Different object files have different definitions of the object 'jpeg_std_message_table'. Likely causes of the problem:
- they were compiled using different versions of a common library.
- you have a collision between unrelated objects with the same name.
Since your program doesn't run, the differences in definition, or the collision, is important, and you must resolve it somehow.
You can run "nm" on each binary to find the files where the symbol is defined:
nm somefile | grep jpeg_std_message_table'
and look for lines that do not say UNDEF.
If the different definitions are from 3rd-party libraries, you will have to contact the supplier to find out how to resolve the issue.

If I understand your question, you are trying to update your iPhone, but you are seeing an error message that iTunes for Windows is not installed, is that right? The first step is to get iTunes successfully installed on your computer. Then backup the iPhone before updating the iOS software.

You can try a system reinstall:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive

Make sure you use Cyrillic fonts for displaying unicode characters.
Mostly, if you preview this character on non-unicode enable printer it may display as junk character.

Is it allowed to use an Adobe Illustrator default symbol (which is normally supplied with the program in the symbols library) to create a logo for a non-for-profit organisation? Is there a contact in Adobe for such enquiries to be officially addressed?

Thanks, Mylenium. Actually it is for a non-for-profit ogranisation and I am not charging anything for it, it is totally on a probono basis. Also the symbol has been modified from its original form in terms of colour.

Basically it says (in human language) that you can use any of the files that come with Adobe programs in your own work as long as you don't sell them 1:1, i.e. it's okay to use a symbol as part of a logo, but not use a unmodified symbol alone and sell it to clients.
