I get an alert saying "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." I reinstalled iTunes, restarted pc, and I checked what other CD/DVD burning software by searching on DVD. Results: Cyberlink DVD suite deluxe, HP Smartmedia DVD , and Windows DVD Maker, all of which I've had forever. Should I delete these and try to reinstall iTunes again? Are there other reasons that this message pops up?
Got the same Pop-up and Apple Sppt told me that UNinstalling Quicktime had fixed this issue in most other cases. I asked IF I had to start over with Uninstalling iTunes, and she answered Yes.
Read my too-long thread (below) that has an Apple Sppt link at the start about Manual Deletes of several Apple Folders/files being a Key to a proper Uninstall / Re-install of iTunes.
Do as much as you want but this is what experience led me to so far. We haven't done it yet since the iPhone Sync'd OK and CD burning is not a priority.

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue. I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes. I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either. I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using Homegroup. I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.
Thanks in advance.I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
The article will walk you through reinstalling iTunes and then checking for or creating device filters. Did it help? Did you run into any problems? -

iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes -
Im getting a warning about registry settings
G'day everyone,
I just thought Id ask if anyone experienced this kind of problem before. I recently had to uninstall my DVD rom drive because a program changed my registry and my DVD rom drive couldnt be detected because the drivers for it were not found... (the program is Daemon tools, I was trying to back up my New Windows 7 DVD cause I jsut upgraded and I wanted to have a .iso of Windows 7 to perform any instals if something breaks.)
Anyway, with the help of a Microsoft technician over the net, he deleted some files in the registry that werent meant to be there and uninstalled and reinstalled my DVD Rom drive and everything works.
However, I get an annoying Warning saying:
"Warning!
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
Now, I repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I even tried to import a CD and it works fine.... I know its only small, but how on earth can I rid myself of this warning bubble? Unless something is wrong, Id like someone to let me know, otherwise, Im looking everywhere to find out what on earth is going on - because iTunes works fine.Well, its more to do with that Microsoft tech support fixed it for me. So I sould have assumed everything would have been fine. I think its porbably because Daemon tools mucked it all up that Tech support had to eliminate future issues.
I guess its just something that iTunes isnt affected by, but then realised something changed, so the warning message pops up before I load the program.... I guess its a small thing I dont have to really worry too much about.
I plan on getting a new computer some day, prefferably a mac for video editing. And have all my music on it, and my games on my PC
It will sure make my media easier. And I can worry about game performance on my PC and ease of media on the MAC.
Id like to know if someone might have a clue as to how to just you know.... turn the arning off? lol -

Please Help! Problem Burning CD's with iTunes 8!?
I downloaded iTunes 8 a few days ago. I think something went wrong, and it was taking a long time, so I canceled it, but it was nearly finished. When I opened iTunes, everything was fine, and all the new stuff (Genius and whatever else) was there, but this message came up:
Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.
So, I went to the Apple website and clicked "download iTunes 8", and a box came up that asked me if I wanted to repair iTunes, or do something else. Obviously it knew I had already downloaded it, so I clicked "Repair". It ran, and it said everything worked. Then I clicked on iTunes, hoping the burning would work. The same message came up as before. When I tried to burn a CD, a similar message came up. WHAT DO I DO? Thank you. Here is the solution!
Go to this website: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php
Download the proper driver and install.
I am running Vista. I had two, actually three problems. First was that for some reason, my CD/DVD drive disappeared. I found that the solution to this was to delete the LowerFilters and UpperFilters strings in the registry. That worked and I got my CD drive back. However, I then got that pesky error message from iTunes. That was the second problem. The third problem was that I could no longer burn CD's of my playlists from iTunes and it said that the "disc burner or software was missing." Going online, I discovered that I was not the only one experiencing these three problems.
I happened to find the solution about the Gear drivers at http://www.pcdoctor-guide.com/wordpress/?p=2726. Installing the x32_x64 driver, of course, worked for me since I'm running a PC laptop. This took care of all three problems for me.
If you notice, the other post about editing the registry makes reference to the Gear ASPI driver. Gear is the one (as you would read on the first link) that provides the drivers for software to burn CD's. -
The registry settings used by theiTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing
I recently installed a programme to convert audio from a cassette player to digital and I found that my CD/DVD drive was missing. I deleted the offending programme and followed a "fix" by deleting the upper and lower filters as specified in the fix. My CD/DVD drive reappeared but now when I open iTunes I get the message “the registry settings used by theiTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing” even though I am able to import tracks from a CD to iTunes. I haven't tried burning a CD yet but then I hardly ever do. I don't appear to have the problem but the message insists that I do!
I have removed iTunes and all associated files and folders from my computer and reinstalled iTunes three times but the message still appears every time I open iTunes. I use Vista. Can you help?

Error on Itunes start-up. Must click OK before Itunes will start.
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.
I have reinstalled iTunes using their complete uninstall instructions.
iTunes does seem to work after OK is clicked, I'm just tired of having to hit OK.
Other thoughts... This started after the iTunes update required to go to IOS 6 for my devices. I'm able to sync my devices. It is possible that ZoneAlarm (my Antivirus and Firewall) got in the way at install. It flagged something and I denied it. I was doing multiple things at the time and the flag did not have any indication about iTunes. I have tried shutting down ZoneAlarm for the install and that has not helped either.
Will try another full uninstall that includes uninstalling ZoneAlarm...I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
