Warning:The Worklist service is unavailable.

Calling all Experts!
I am trying to use the worklist component from the webcenter catalog. I have setup a connection and specified the URL for the worklist. But after running the page, i get a message displayed in the page saying The Worklist service is unavailable
Can you tell me where am going wrong here? I also am in need of a tutorial which demonstrates the use of the Worklist component.

Solved, I had to click on the Refresh button in my webpage to get the task displayed :P

The tagging service is unavailable - Managed Metadata Service issues

After SP1 I am unable to use the tagging service in my test farm of SharePoint 2013. Users see the error message popup "The tagging service is unavailable. Please try again later."
I've ensured that the Managed Metadata service is up and running and is the location for keywords. I've tried deleting and re-creating the service to no avail.
Any ideas on what might be happening? The service looks fine, the database looks fine but no tagging....

According to your post, my understanding is that you were unable to use the tagging service.
Per my knowleadge, even if the Managed Metadata Service is associated with the web application and term store is accessible from within the site collection, it still needs to be set as the default for the web application.
To set the service as the default you need to click on the proxy service, and then select the top two check boxes.

Jason - thanks for the input. Unfortunately the service was already set to the default for the web app (both top checkboxes are already checked.) The service looks identical to my Prod and DR farms, but simply doesn't work. I've blown it
away and recreated it without success.

Is anyone else getting the error "Service Temporarily Unavailable?"

I am trying to manage our schools iTunesU site and have been unable to login since Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Is anyone else running into this with their sitemanager? Our course manager logins work and students can access the content, we just cannot manage the domain.

I am experiencing the same issue when trying to login to the iTunes U Site Manager. I get the error message "Service temporarily unavailable." Other administrators are have the same problem trying to access our site form different network locations.
I have reported the issue to iTunes U Support and received a response per e-mail with 12 hours. They provided me with some simple troubleshooting advice like resetting Safari and emptying the caches but that did not resolve the issue. After my second mail to Apple I was tol that the isse had been escalated to a Specialist Team. I am waiting for a response.

Worklist Service Remote API

I am trying to invoke the worklist services using remote API. The invocation works fine if I call from a stand-alone java program, but when I try the same code (and JNDI property file) from a J2EE comp (Web or EJB comp) deployed on seperate installation of oc4j then the call just hangs. It does not throw any error or return any results.
Here is the code snippet:

The custom name for the jndi properties file is: "hw_worklist_jndi.properties" but I think you deal with that problem when you reasign the name. (RemoteWorklistServiceClient.JNDI_PROPERTY_FILE="pp.properties")
All your setup seems to be correct , the only thing is to make sure that pp.properties is in your classpath

I installed APEX into a new oracle database. After HTTP Server configuration, I ran this:

and got to a error:
503 Service Temporarily Unavailable

I have no problem with:
http://tracy.mycompany.com:7777
which means the HTTP Server works fine.

apex_public_user account was unlocked, password was also changed.
There is no Listener on HTTP Server. Only tnsname.ora exists on this server. From this HTTP server, I can connect to the database with service name mcqs which is from tnsname like:
SQL> conn apex_public_user/pass@mcqs
but on this HTTP Server, I can't connect to the database this way:
SQL> conn apex_public_user/pass@truckee:1521/mcqs1
The problem is obvious: HTTP server can't talk to database with this dad.conf setting:
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString truckee:1521:mcqs1 ServiceNameFormat
I think the above setting should enable HTTP server to talk to database directly--it has host name, port and sid and it has all it needs--it may get away without Listener and tnsname. Am I right?
Does the HTTP Server have to have a Listener in it? I don't think so, what do you say?
If not, how can I make the HTTP server talk to the database.
Any input will be appreciated!

Problems integrating Worklist service with WebCenter Portal Framework

I am trying to create a portal framework app integrated with the worklist service and I am following this

Ok I got Integration with Worklist on webcenter portal. If you are following this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_worklists.htm#BEIIBCCI and are running into the same error I had. The one about the Policy Store being Invalid and are developing with Jdeveloper. This is what you do.
1. Log into the administration server for JDeveloper.
2. Go to deployments.
3. click on wsm-pm
4. select the targets tab.
5. check the wsm-pm ( i also checked all the ones that were under it when you expanded the selection)
6. Click change targets.
7. Select Default server and click yes.
8. Restart the integrated server.

Unable to print from MS Word: "The Directory Service is currently unavailable"

Hi! I hope you can help me. Please note that I have a Windows XP computer (Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3, 32-bit). When I initially installed a Brother printer (model# MFC-J475DW) in Dec 2013, I had no problems printing documents. My problems
started about 2 days ago. I got an error message after I opened a MS Word document (.doc) and clicked the Print button to print a document. The Printer "Name" field was empty. I clicked the dropdown box in that window and saw 3 options:
1 - Brother MFC-J475DW Printer
2 - Brother PC-FAX v.3.2
3 - PaperPort Image Printer
When I selected "Brother MFC-J475DW Printer," a Microsoft Word dialog box appeared, saying the following:
"The printer has not yet responded, but the Microsoft Office program may be able to proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the printer?"
I can either click on a Yes button or a No button. Either way, I'm brought back to the Print page. When I click on the OK button to start printing, another error message appears:
"Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup. Try one or more of the following:
*Check the printer by printing a test page from Windows.
*Make sure the printer is turned on and online.
*Reinstall the printer driver."
I have a choice to click either OK or Web Help. I click the OK button to close the box, then return to the Print page. When I click on the "Find Printer..." button, the Find Printers window appears for a moment, then is replaced by this error message:
"The Directory Service is currently unavailable"
On Friday (Mar 21), when the error first occurred, I was able to print a letter in MS Word after un- and re-installing the Brother printer and its drivers. The problem reappeared the next day (Saturday). I don't want to do that every time to print a single
page, so would you please recommend a solution?
By the way, I am able to print a test page from the printer in Control Panel, and I can print from a Notepad document. Also, when I go to the Control Panel, select "Printers and Faxes," then right-click on the printer (Brother MFC-J475DW Printer),
then select the Ports page, there's a check mark next to USB001 (not LPT1 or COM1). When I click on the "Configure Port..." button, I get this error message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported."
Earlier today, I got a reply from brother.com's tech support (thanks to the 1 year warranty). They said the problem is on my PC, not their printer. However, they provided links to completely uninstall the printer, then reinstall it. I did just that, but
the problem persists. I'll download OpenOffice.org's Office Suite to see if I can print documents with their software instead of MS Word. Until then, I await any suggestions.

I downloaded OpenOffice and am able to print documents (in particular, the same document I created in MS Word). I guess MS Word is to blame. I believe the issue is concluded, but I'd welcome any comments about the Active Directory, as I might have a problem
with OpenOffice in the future regarding that.

SharePoint Provider Hosted App (401) Unauthorized Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The Azure Access Control service is unavailable

I'm attempting to get a SharePoint 2013 Provider Hosted Application working in a brand new SharePoint environment. I've created snapshots of both my dev and the sharepoint environments along the way and have meticulously documented every step of the

Upon package and publish of my application to SharePoint, I get a 401 Unauthorized error. I use Fiddler to obtain the SPErrorCorrelationID to ultimately obtain the following ULS Viewer Output. Please explain how to fix if you're able.
Please Note: I was under the impression that a Provider Hosted Application does not use the Azure Access Control service, so I'm confused as to why my system is attempting to make this connection?
Also Note: I've used a self signed and godday obtained certificate to successfully f5 debug my basic web.title (out of the visual studio 2012 box) sharepoint provider hosted application... so I know my certs are good.

Yes, actually - I was able to resolve it.
However I don't know how, unfortunately. I suspect it was because I needed to have the names of the certificates, defined during the certificate registration (to sharepoint) process, different.
I have a complete document that shows step by step instructions on the exact process I took to complete the provider hosted application creation, deployment and publishing. It was a daunting task, but I finished it successfully.
If there's a way to send private message on this forum, please do so and I'll respond with a way to obtain my document.
NOTE: I'm not all impressed with the way this forum works. This is supposed to be a Microsoft resource and I'll be damned if I ever get a response to highly technical questions. Completely lame. Boooooo Microsoft.

We need to implement multi-lingual functionality in SharePoint 2013 on premise server. We have implemented the functionality by referring the below URL.

I downloaded OpenOffice and am able to print documents (in particular, the same document I created in MS Word). I guess MS Word is to blame. I believe the issue is concluded, but I'd welcome any comments about the Active Directory, as I might have a problem
with OpenOffice in the future regarding that.
