WARNING!: Upgrading to Quicktime 7.7 breaks "Purchased" tab in iTunes 10.4 Store

iTunes 10.4 comes with Apple Application Support 1.5.2.  As long as you have that version of Apple Application Support, the purchased tab in the iTunes Store will work.
Both Safari 5.1 and Quicktime 7.7 come with a newer version of Apple Application Support, 2.0.1.  If you install either update (or both), then the purchased tab in the iTunes store will be blank.
The Quicktime 7.7 is especially annoying since that's a security update.  So basically you can either have access to purchased items in iTunes 10.4, but run an insecure version of QuickTime or have a secure version of Quicktime, but lose access to purchased items in the iTunes store on your PC.
Come on Apple, can't you at test your software on Windows before updating it?   This plus the annoying sync crash when optimizing videos (photos) shows Apple doesn't test anything.  iTunes 10.4 for Windows really *****.

I have a work around, but it's not for the faint of heart.  It basically involves copying the *.dll files out of the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" folder when version 1.5.2 is installed and then upgrading to version 2.0.1 (Quicktime 7.7 or Safari 5.1).
As such I don't recommend you do this unless you know what you are doing, otherwise you will likely have to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes (or worse).  If you mess things up, don't come to me for help.  You've been warned.
I tested this on Windows XP, but it should work under Vista and 7.
Whenever you want to access your past purchases do the following:
1. Make iTunes, QuickTime and Safari are not running.  Basically no Apple programs.
2. Backup all the *.dll files In the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" folder and put them in a safe place.  I zipped them up.
3. Now delete all the *.dll files.  I simply made a "tmp" folder inside the Apple Application Support folder and moved them there.
4. Take the *.dll files you save from version 1.5.2 and copy them into the folder.
Now you can run iTunes and access the store and download your past purchases.  Leaving things like this is bad for a number of reasons, so when you are done simply quit iTunes and then remove the 1.5.2 version dll and put the 2.0.1 dll versions back.
Technically you don't need to replace all the *.dll, only about 10 of them, but it's just easier to replace all of them.  Also note that there is one .dll file that is exclusive to 1.5.2 and 5 that are exclusive to 2.0.1.

  • Cannot see the "purchased tab" in iTunes app

A week ago, my iPhone 4 was accidently removed and deleted from my iCloud account, which means all the content was removed from it. And ofcourse i was not prepared, but i was stupid enough to not backup my music and all that stuff. And my music was gone. Then i found this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 , where it's described how to locate and redownload your music from iTunes. But this tab is not showing up anywhere on my iPhone. And neither on my iPad (3rd gen). Any suggestion? :-)
Btw my iPhone 4 is running iOS 5.1.1

Try this from iTunes on a computer
Make sure itunes is up to date, click Help > Check for update if you are on windows.
When you click on iTunes Store in iTunes, and the store pulls up, make sure you are signed in to the itunes store (Should see your appleid or "Sign IN" at the top right of the store)
once you are signed in, the purchased tab is listed on the right with a big blue "NEW" bubble next to it
use that to download any missing content to your computer, and then sync it to the phone
if you do not see the purchased tab on the phone then you are not up to date with your os software, or you are looking in the wrong place

  • Missing video purchase tab in itunes. Please help

On both my ipad mini and netbook, in itunes i have no video tab in the purchased section. The purchased section only shows the music i have bought and none of my movies (on both devices). On my ipad mini despite having the "show purchased videos" setting being activated in settings, itunes also only shows purchased music and there isnt even a movie tab in the purchased section. Please help.

Sorry, but neither your G3, your Panther operating system, nor your version of iTunes are supported any longer.
They have all been declared obsolete some time ago.

  • HT5622 I can download or purchase stuff from iTunes or App Store , but when I'm in an app, I get a message, "your purchase cannot be completed, and to contact this sight" any suggestions??

I can download from iTunes and from App Store, but when I'm using app, hayday, I cannot purchase . I get an error message  stating, " your purchase cannot be completed " and to go to this forum for solution. Any suggestions??

The message is to contact iTunes Support, not to post on here, which you can do via this link and ask them why the message is appearing (we are fellow users, we won't know why) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • HT203167 My purchase music from iTunes is missing tracks. missing tracks are not showing in the purchased tab in iTunes

I cannot recover My itnes purchased music from the recovery section. more than half the tracks are missing in the Camilo sesto 20 exitos.

I have the same problem - they AREN'T hidden. They aren't visible on computer, iPad or iPhone with match on. Obviously something screwed in the purchase history. Even if I have backups they will count against the 25,000 track limit for iTunes in the cloud - which is a bit of an issue as I have 24,997 non-purchased track already.
A bit of an issue for someone who's bought a lot from iTunes over the years - and not helped by being unable to get an answer from support. Oddly if I switch match off a few of them become available.
Any suggestions - apart from contact support (I'm still waiting) - appreciated

The book is not already on your computer, it's still available in the store, and you bought it with the same account (and you are still in the same country) ?

You cannot get Leopard from Apple any more. You will find copies from third-party vendors on eBay, Amazon, or Google.
If you have an Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard instead provided your model meets the requirements shown below:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.

  • HT204319 I have a MacBook that I bought in October 2009, its current operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8. I would like to purchase an Printmaster from the app store but it requires 10.7.3 or later. ????? What can I do?

I would like to purchase an app but it requires an operating system of OS X 10.7.3 or later and I only have 10.6.8 What do I need to do? Can I get that on my MacBook?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.).

           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

  • Final Cut Pro x not appearing in my purchased tab after download

Purchased Final Cut Pro x from the Mac App store last night and downloaded it to my Macbook Pro. I want to install it on my other Mac that shares an iTunes account, but it does not appear in the Purchased tab in the Mac App store. It has been downloaded and the tab to buy has changed to the installed tab. Does it normally take a while to appear or how can I fix this? (I have tried restarting the computer, software updates, and logging out and then back into the App store)

The same situation is happening to me I bought motion 5 first and the FCP X and the FCPX shows up as install but the Motion 5 shows up like its not installed, but in the purchase section FCPX does not show only Motion 5, and if I click on motion 5 to install it it tells me that it was not purchase in that app store that it was purchase in another app store, but my bank account shows up like if it was already purchase I am afraid to hit install in the motion tab install because it tells me if I want to buy it again.

Overtime I removed them from my iPad, hadn't used them in a while.  Wanted to try one of them again.  Went to the purchase tab in the iPad App Store, none of them are listed. Either in installed or not on this iPad.  When I go to the apps in the App Store it has a price tag not a cloud with down arrow tag.  I read each apps description to see if the version I downloaded was removed and replaced with this new version that has to be bought again, no mention of such.  No mention from reviews of repurchase complaints.  So am I out of luck? If an app is removed from the App Store by the developer, is it also removed from my account?

If I were you I'd talk to Apple Customer Service.  They have been very helpful to me in the past.  You could also try and contact the developers.

  • Download purchased AUDIOBOOK from itunes on computer TO iPad

I purchased an audiobook on my computer.  I can't seem to find a way to download it to my iPad.  Every auto download button I can find is on in my computer preferences and in the iPad settings.   Nothing ever shows up in my Purchased area on my iPad even though I've purchased several books from my iPad.  This time I purchased from the computer and cannot get it to download to my iPad.  I can't find clues, buttons, download options.  How?  Thanks

Look for the audio book in the More Tab of the iPad Music App, not in the purchased tab of iTunes. Non audio Books that you purchase will be in the iBooks app.
