Warp text in circle

Hi All,
I've this project where I had to flow quite a lot of text into a circle to make it look like its rotating around the centre. I don't want to outline the text as there will be amends later on, there's enough text to dismiss the thought of typing on path so I opted for Envelope distortion. The artwork contains concentric circles - as in bigger and bigger circles build up around a centre point, each of the circles has 6 segments with several lines of text in each bit (paragraph). So I'm basically distorting each segment's block of text separately with the Arch tool. I noticed that Illustrator seems to stop treating it as text, rather treats it as an object, which leads into the top line of the paragraph being squashed and shrunk, while the bottom line stretched and enlarged.
I asked other designers and illustrators and no one seems to know the answer to how to achieve arched text so it looks like it was typed up onto a path, and not like a distorted block of text. I was wondering if anyone would happen to have the answer here or suggest alternatives, I'd really appreciate it.
Sorry for the lengthy post, tried to explain what I'd need to know... If it's still unclear, let me know :)
Thanks!

I did exactly this some years ago and it's troublesome but not impossible. I'm not sure that I quite understand that segments bit though.
Basically what you have to do is this:
Start off by drawing your circles. The distance between them is the leading between lines, so you need to know what type size you'll be using. If you need to, split the whole thing into segments using Pathfinder/Divide and chuck out the bits you don't want. Store a copy of this in case you make a boo-boo somewhere along the way.
It's a good idea to compose your text in normal boxes first, so that you can see roughly how it will fit into the available space.
Then paste single lines of text onto the paths in the usual way.
Unfortunately there's no way of making a Return when you're typing on a path, and no amount of distorting will ever get you where you want to go to. So you have to do everything line by line. Pain, but it works.
Of course if you don't need segments you can make a spiral (been there too) and paste onto that. Mighty perty if you like that sort of thing :-)

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. It came installed on my HP Desktop. I am can not get the warp text tool to work. It has worked in the past. Once I click warp text, the little window does not pop up, and if I try to do anything else after I click warp text, it wont let me. Just sounds the ding, alert, can still slightly navigate the program but can not use any other tools after clicking warp text. I just have to open task manager and close the program. not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I just need to uninstall and re install. Having trouble finding out how to uninstall and reinstall because the program came pre installed on my desktop.

It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file
    *Press Yes

  • Warp text in flash such as arcing or bending

is there any way to warp text in flash such as arcing or
    bending

yes, but it's not easy and definitely not a beginning a.s.
project. you can distribute your text into different textfields
that you arrange in an arc or you can use the bitmapdata class and
    its displacementmap filter.

In the Jtable I want to display warp text.

  • Help! How do I warp text to fit a ribbon?

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to warp text to fit a shape - in this case a ribbon? Attached are two pics, hopefully showing what I'm trying to achieve!
The pencil sketch shows how the text should roughly be the second shows the clear paths that I want the text to warp to. I need the text to fill the shape of the ribbon and flow (top and bottom as if were printed on) - not just by using the clunky text path tool as shown.
    Is this possible in Illustrator?
    Help!

The closest I can come to duplicating the effect you want is with the 3D effect, and mapping the text to the object. Type the text and save the text object as a Symbol. Draw the ribbon as a single path, then apply a 3D Extrude & Bevel, then apply the text (as a Symbol) to that. These last two steps can be done in the same step. Here's a quick attempt:

  • Control handles or points and warping text

The transform controls in Photoshop CS6 disappear as soon as I click on the warp mode icon, preventing me from manually warping the layer on which I am working. Oh sure, I can click on Show Transform Controls and, voila, there they are. But as soon as I click on the icon that switches me between warp and free transform, the handles disappear (no mesh either) and without them there is no way to manually warp text or images. Because this used to work perfectly in CS5, I am just a tad frustrated. None of the prebuilt warp modes involve perspective (although I understand this option is maybe, perhaps, it's possible, coming at some point in the future) I can't even get the look I'm after with any prebuilt mode.
3D doesn't offer a simple perspective tool either. Yes, it does a lot, but not what I want.
So, why do the handles disappear and how can I get them to stick when I need them?
And, yes, I do have View > Extras active. Or at least the option is checked as active.
    Thank you for any help.

PECourtejoie, That was a lot of text! I did not include most of it, but I did include anything related to the video card. I hope I included what you need. If not, I can copy the whole shebang. Thank you for all your help.

  • Problem with warp text tool

I have a text layer which I want to do some warping to. When I hit the warp text tool all the options are greyed out ??? Any help ? Incidentally, I tried to just transform warp it but no "handles" appear...

In the create warped text dialog did you click on one
of the options in the dropdown menu. (it's always on none
unless you already have some warped text)

  • How to Warp text correctly?

This is an ongoing problem for me and am looking for help.
So, I have some text in illustrator that I want to do an envelope warp on. When I apply the effect my text becomes very distorted. I have attached a simple example of what I am talking about. The top is the straight text that I converted to outlines, the bottom one is after applying a warp to it.Notice several of the letters are severely distorted.
    What am I doing incorrectly?
    Thanks!

    I have previously used:
Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Warp
I tried just using the warp effect and voila! It worked!
    Thanks!

  • Editing Warp Text

I typed in the word DISCUSSION and used ARC UPPER in the Warp Optons in CS5 (which shows up in Typography bar at top.
I then typed in other regular type.
Now when I go back to the word DISCUSSION there is no way I can edit it. The warp option at the top is no longer there. Whether I highlight type with arrow or with type (T) tool.
How do I edit or change the warp applied to the word DISCUSSION.
Must be a simple solution. I am just not seeing it.
    Dave

Select thewarped artt go to the Object>Envelop Distort>Edit Content
If you mde the Warp with the Effect you can go into Outline view and or turn on smart guides so ypu can see the original text.
to change the settings for the Warp use the Effect method snd then you cn access the Warp Effect from the appearance panel.

  • Warping Text On One Side

I was wondering how I could go about warping the text only on one side like the "Red Ferret" in the image below? Is it all manually done?
    http://rall.ee/revolution/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/RedFerretLogo.jpg

One way to do it is to select the lettering, go to Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh; Rows: 1  Columns: 1. With Direct Selection tool click lower left anchor point, then click and drag downward (with shift key depressed to maintain vertical if desired). Adjust angle and length of handle(s).

  • Warping text to shape?

Okay please bear with me: I don't use Illustrator a lot.  I'm trying to create a very simple logo where I want to add the letters "HAI" to a hard-hat image.  I'll paste in a screenshot below so you can see what I'm talking about.  Can someone tell me how to warp those 3 letters to fit the shape?  So it looks like they're really on the hat?  I'm experimenting with arc and free transform but not really getting anywhere.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Phyllis

    1. Type your text vertically (as you've done with "HAT")
    2. Use "Object>Envelope Distort>Make With Mesh". Choose "1 column and 1 row".
    3. Adjust the mesh corner points to match the surface you want the text to match.
You can select more than one mesh point and control them as one using any of the move or transform tools. You can also use the Free Transform Tool very effectivelly to distort the whole mesh object. If you're not familiar with the Free Transform Tool modifyer key options read about it online.
    Hope this helps.

    annoying!

Boot into safe mode (restart holding down SHIFT key). If KP, then most likely hardware related.  Run the Apple Hardware Test suite, extended tests at least twice, followed by Rember.   See

  • Warped Text in PS CS6

I need help in typing text along a curved path in PS CS6.   I have watched and read several on-line tutorials and they all seem to say about the same thing and seem pretty simple.   I create a path using the pen tool.  Next I select the Type tool.  I position the cursor over the path where I want to start typing.   The cursor changes to show the little curved line.   I left click once.    A bar perpendicular to the path appears.    I start typing and nothing appears.   I think I have the font size & color properly selected, because I have no difficulty in typing text in an ordinary text box.   Any idea as to what I am doing wrong?

Type something and OK it.  Then either double click the type layer, or use Free Transform on the type layer.  Either will highlight the text showing its size etc.

  • Resizing warps text fields

    Maybe someone can help...
My animations contain quite a lot of text fields. When I
resize my movie before publishing, the text fields seem to shrink
but the text does not, therefore cutting off some text. The fields
are also no longer in the spot they were in before, meaning that
they are not adjusted along with the slides.
    Am I doing something wrong?
By the way, when I resize, I have the box checked next to
    'Resize captions, objects etc".

    Hi Snaklidoo
Are these Text Entry Boxes? Where your user can type into the
field? If so, the only thing that comes to mind is that you are
sizing to make things smaller, but the actual font used for each of
them isn't being scaled smaller. I don't believe the fonts get
adjusted. Similar to Text Captions. There is a lower limit where
they cannot be sized any smaller and the font is never updated. If
this is what is happening, the only solution that comes to mind is
that you could adjust the font in one of them, then select Apply to
all and pull that shotgun trigger to propagate the changes.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Warping Text in Post Script

I am writing some Text in PS file. Since the length of Text is Long it overlaps the other text beside it.
Is it possible to Wrap the Text in PS. Say for example How this text will be wrapped
    /F100{/I 7.2 d I/Arial F}b F100 (Plan    BB-HOME-COMBO-ULD-800-MONTHLY BI MONTHLY-1500 SIX ANNUAL PLAN-8000) 500 10 w
    Regards
    Harsh

It's not impossible to wrap text in PostScript, but it's generally not the right way to do it. Text layout and positioning calculations should be completed before writing the PostScript.
If you are determined to do it in PostScript you can use the stringwidth operator to get the lengths of strings and decide whether they fit, then decide where to split (on spaces or punctuation is usually expected). A lot of coding.
