Warp tool in CS3
When I want to warp a text (before rasterizing) nothing happens. I can choose warp though. After rasterizing it works fine. Shouldn't I get a pop up or something like in CS2 that the text must be rasterized first?
This confuses me too..when choosing skew (before rasterizing) it seems to work different than after rasterizing the text, see pic:

Which Tool do you mean exactly?
Does resetting it help?

As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.

Photoshop CS5.1 (version 12.1) crashes when using Warp Tool
Hi there,
Our retouchers have started to use Photoshop CS5 and things seems fine overall, but one user got three chrashes and he says it happens when using the Warp Tool. I don't have any more details than that currently.
The computer is the latest generation Mac Pro (mid 2010) with six core 3.33 GHz processor, Mac OS X 10.6.7, ATI RADEON 5870 graphics card.
All current updates for Creative Suite applied.

There's no ”Log Transport” folder to be found for some reason.
On another users computer I find the structure and one crash log, but he gets that crash when trying to save onto an AFP server (seems fine to save locally).
I guess a crash when saving onto a server isn't of much interest since I understand it's only supported to save onto the local drive?
Here comes the log anyway, but like I said this is for crash upon saving onto server. Can't find the ones for crash when using Warp Tool.

Why is my adobe photoshop trying to crash when i use the puppet warp tool?
Every time i go to use the puppet warp tool i need to finish my assignment, photoshop says it is trying to fix the problem and then says it cant fix it and shuts the whole program down. And would like to know why is my adobe photoshop trying to crash when i use the puppet warp tool?
You'll need to give us more information. What OS, what Photoshop version, how much RAM, what is your video card, and what are your performance preferences, etc., etc. -- ??

Problem with warp tool and bitmap images
While you apply warp tool to a bitmap image, the image becoming corrupted on each touch. Please check screen shot...
OK. I start to understand what you're doing there.
It's simply that Illustrator is not a bitmap editor. It's not optimized for editing this kind of artwork.
What you can do is apply an envelope and then use the warp tool on the envelope.
Also: edit the envelope options. You can get higher image quality with that. -
How can I find the warp tool in Elements 11?
I have used Elements 9 using the warp tool but I have up-graded to Elements 11 and cannot locate it.
You will find warp tool in Liquify filter. Open your image and go to "Filter menu>Distort>Liquify".

Keyframe using the puppet warp tool in photoshop CS6?
Is there any extension or way that will allow me to keyframe using the puppet warp tool in photoshop CS6?
I'm doing 2d animation, and I need to draw lines that I can immediately animate using puppet warp (you can't draw in after effects).I am removing a dust spot from video clips taken during an aerial shoot. I have discovered that the only effective way to remove these spots effectively is to use PS6 and go frame by frame using the paint brush, clone stamp, and spot healing brush. It is very time consuming and mind numbing but the only thing that works with all tha movement of the aircraft and the ground below.
My question:
Right now to advance the clip one frame at a time - I must magnify the time line so to see the frame by frame lables. To advance to the next frame I must remove my cursor from the work area and go down to the time line and click on the next frame.
How can I advance to the next frame with a keyboard stroke and not move my cursor out of the work area?

Weird change in appearance of all tools in CS3
Suddenly, I am getting a dark square overlaying all my tools in CS3. The longer I hold the tool over the image, the darker and more opaque it gets, especially if there are large black areas in the image. I reset all my tools, dumped my preferences, went through all the paces I could think of.
I want to thank you for your conclusion. I did some research and apparently this was my problem as well, as you will see in my post. I still don't know if I have all of those other settings correct, but at least my DNS problem is resolved. I changed it both locally (in my Network Preferences) and the DNS servers on the router to the opendns.org IP addresses. Now my load times reflect the browsing speeds I had expected.

Warp Tool Brush: preview vs. results
Hello again,
Since my previous Illustrator question was answered so quickly today, I thought I wold post another problem that I have come across using AI.
When I use the Warp Tool, I get a nice smooth preview (outline) of how I want my shape to warp. But one I release the the brush, it almost never renders as smooth as its preview. I've tried changing Warp Options (like Detail and Simplify) but I still get unexpected results. I'm sure user error, how can I get warp results to more closely match the preview I get when dragging the Warp Tool?

So I'm using an HTC evo 4g lte and when I use the warp tool Photoshop touch tends to crash. Is there any way around this? Also as a side note, I would really like to see all of the blending modes in the app. One specifically is the hard light mode.

Is there a WARP tool in Photoshop CS1?
I didnt think there was but when I look in the CS1 help, it tells how to use it and even shows what the icon for it looks like but I cant find anything in the help about where the button for the Warp tool is. Does it even have one?
No luck - seem to remember warp was introduced in CS2. You would have to use Liquify, or even displacement maps, to get anything similar in CS1.

Warp tool palette: independent settings in dialogue box
I use the warp tools a lot CS4, especially warp and twirl, I find its a great way to smooth edges, round them, and with little flicks even simplify anchor point count. I go between these two tools a lot back and forth, but using a different brush size for each, and different intensity setting.
Is slow to have to hit "enter" and resize the intensity each time when going between these brushes, aswell as resize the brush to the exact size and shape (with alt) everytime I switch between them,
can we look at individual independent settings for each,
so if I set intensity for warp tool (enter) dialogue box, it is seperate to the settings I make for the twirl tool dialogue box and pucker, bloat, scallop ...
aswell as the brush size setting for each, I generally use the warp tool larger size 40% intensity, but the twirl tool smaller at 2 to 5% intensity, so having to change them everytime I switch as I`m modelling my splines slows me down.
A couple of other unrelated things:
The stroke size is something I like to tweak a lot as i`m laying out curves and twirls for strokes, I like how I can "slide" the brush size and opacity in photoshop and work on the fly, I know thats pixels, but in AI top left where the word "stroke" dialogue pops up on the control panel, if I could hover over and "slide" that as in PS instead of having to - click it and have a diologue box with another drop down list to choose stroke size, that would be quicker, and if I could see the feedback in realtime with the stroke slider, even say selecting several strokes first, then sliding the size and seeing dynamic feedback would be helpful in adjustments, as stroke size is a constant adjustment for me, with organic drawings of figures and faces, animals, its something that requires a lot of adjustments in stroke thickness to see different results, and is so important to work fast with changing stroke size.
Output multiple artboards, and or Layers to one PDF. I often have many different versions of a design on different layers, one layer on another, and want to output to a single PDF for client approval, so I don`t have to save out each layer manually to a new pdf or jpeg.. just do it in one go.regards ALT to resize brush head for liquify tools, if could also press CTRL to adjust angle of brush,

Getting better results with the Puppet Warp tool?
In CC 2014, I'm not getting realistic looking results when using the Puppet Warp tool.
1. Is it better to place more pins or fewer ones?
2. Is this tool designed to make very subtle changes to an image or is it realistic to expect big changes to the composition of an image with it?
Thanks.You are not wrong. Puppet Warp is a bit like Refine Edge in that it is not as intuitive as some of the tutorials would have us believe. I still struggle with it. All I can suggest is picking the best tutorials by going to Adobe TV

If it is going wrong, rather than trying to make the most of a bad job, start again with better pin placement. If you still end up with what looks more like a boneless string puppet than a real person, use tools like Liquify to put things right. Run a work path around the perfect outline, and use that to make a selection from which to use the clone tool to fix inside the mask, and a layer mask to fix pixels that have strayed outside the ideal profile.
Lots of PW pins are good for anchoring the bits you don't want to move, but less pins are better for the bits you do want to move. Look at photographs that approximate your intended new shape, and use them to work out how the rest of the body (if that's what you are warping) would interact/react with your new shape. Or just mime the action yourself, and see where your other limbs, and the rest of your body should look. -
Buggy warp tool on smart object-opposite result of what is expected
I'm having an issue with warping a smart object that I haven't seen before. I'm distorting it to give it some perspective for the purpose of applying graphics to a mock-up of a package, and it all works fine until I try to use the warp tool. I try to grab a hand or any part of the warp area and it appears to be warping the opposite part of the smart object instead. See image attached. The blue marks show which points I was trying to grab and pull in which direction. You can see the result is the opposite. Below is a wetransfer.com link to download a .psd file of this for testing. The same thing happens in Photoshop CS5.
I'm using a Mac Pro tower, 2.4ghz processors, 14 gb RAM, MacOS 10.8.3, Photoshop versions are all up to date (CS6 extended 13.0.5 x64, CS5 extended 12.0.5)

Warping picture in CS3 - stupid thing beeps at me!
I've used the Transform-Warp tool pretty readily before, but mostly with straight surfaces. Now I'm trying to match a picture onto a curved frame (it's actually imitating individual frames of a segment of film going across my picture)...
So, I put the picture in a layer over the frame (which in reality is transparent except for the lines and start the Transform. First I match the corners by holding CTRL and dragging the corners to the respective place on the frame. So far, so good. However, the right and left sides are still straight, not matching the curve of the frame (see below).
I'm still in the Transform dialog, so I click the Warp button on the Transform toolbar (or right-click and choose Warp). This, of course, gives me the warp grid. However, 9 time out of 10 when I click on a point on the grid the computer beeps!! What is worse, perhaps, is that sometimes it doesn't beep but when I drag the mouse another part of the picture entirely starts to warp!
BTW- clicking Commit to the above transform and then trying to warp that doesn't really work because the transform outline is now a big square that encompasses the picture/layer but its bottom is horizontal. The Warp grid doesn't give me just the points of the layer I'm warping!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a) what's up with the beep and/or b) the "best" method to warp the picture to fit the frame!

If not the motherboard go into window sounds and look for a sound that is listed for program error or crtiical stop and test it to see if the sound matches. This will get you closer to the problem. -
Restrict warp tool adjustments to horizontal only?
When using the edit-> transform -> warp tool, is there a way to restrict the adjustment of the handles to either vertical or horizontal only?
I tried holding down shift/alt/ctrl keys but doesn't work.
This is for photoshop cs4.You can double click on the tool to get the options.
I find more usage for the tool reducing intensity and increasing simplify. Otherwise the warp tool acts too much like a melting tool.
