Warranties and registration

I need some information from this group. I am looking into getting a used Imac or Macbook Pro. If the item has not been registered, would I be able to register it and get warranty?
Second question. If the item is still under warranty and I need to get it repaired, would I be able to get it repaired under warranty at an Apple store, even though I am not the registered owner? I would not be able to have warranty transferred since I don't know the original owner. I would be buying it through a liquidation company. How would this work?
Thanks.

If I may add to Roger's excellent advice: something to keep in mind is the fact that Apple usually considers the start of the warranty as being at the time of shipment, so if the machine is an older model, the one year warranty may have expired by now. If you buy it at an authorized reseller, you can call Apple and have the dates changed to your purchase date and they will honor the warranty - this happened to me once when I purchased a "left-over" model; fortunately, it was an authorized reseller and they faxed the bill of sale to Apple which resulted in a full warranty for me. Since you say that this is being offered by a liquidation company, I'd follow Roger's advice and call Apple before spending money. And I would insist that the liquidation company disclose exactly what is included.

  • Qosmio X300-13W - My experience with warranties and support

Just thought Id post about my experience so that anyone else in the same situation can find some peace of mind.
Bought a Qosmio x300 13w, nice machine. In the box was a flyer about a free upgrade to the standard warranty (pick up and return service). It directed me to go to a website to register but that site had no reference to this free upgrade. Also the uplift I bought came in the form of a booklet. Within it it said it only applied to business users... I am not a business user.
So I called Toshiba up... luckily the lady I spoke to was very helpful.
    Her explanations were as follows:
    - Standard warranty now in the UK includes the free upgrade to pickup and return
    - The uplift in the UK applies to all customers not just business users. The documentation was old
Unfortunately she was unable to provide any of this in writing. I do however have recordings of the telephone conversation.
Called back next day and they registered over the phone. Got an e-mail confirming standard warranty registration but nothing to confirm the uplift. Called customer services again but this time not as much help... they were unable to confirm the registration was successful and instead refered me to technical support. I called technical support 4:50 and got a message saying lines were closed and to call back during normal business hours. The message however didn't say what the normal business hours were; I thought it was 9 to 5.
Anyway, today I went to the website and tried to register the uplift. The site on the booklet was an old site no longer in use. So Googled up the correct site. Registered it but still no confirmation although they took down my e-mail address.
Personally, I am not so happy with the experience so far... after paying 2k for a laptop i expect a much more professional service. Sending me documentation with incorrect details and not being able to offer anything in writing seems unprofessional. Thankfully I have kept call recordings as confirmation and would advise anyone else who can keep call recordings to do so to be on the safe side.

    Hi
Im not from UK but I was able to register the standard warranty and later I have upgraded it successfully Everything went smoothly.
As mentioned on the flyer that was included on the box, this free warranty upgrade has to be registered under standard warranty on the following website
    http://register-warranty.computers.toshiba.co.uk
The uplift you purchased can be registered on the same link by selecting Warranties & Insurance Registration under http://computers.toshiba.co.uk and then Warranty Registration.
If you want to check if your uplift was registered, you can always have a look at the following website by entering you serial number www.toshiba-tro.de/unitdetails

  • Adding crop marks and registration Urrrrrrrr.... CS3 Mac

    Hi,
I think I have been working longer on trying to add crop marks and bleed to a business card then actually designing the artwork. Adobe really pisses me off with these PDF, Illustrator nonsense. Why is it SO complicated to add crop mark and registration marks to send to a printer?
When I add a "Crop Area" in AI why it's not included when I export to PDF press quality? why do I need to start going through the crazy Acrobat Advanced menu? add printer marks... resize the page using the Crop Pages option... and then loosing my bleed background.
Is there a simple way to do this?
    Thanks
    Mic

Hi guys, you're really going about the whole thing wrong...as a prepress person I need to impose your designs to get best efficiency on the press. I will proably delete all your marks anyway and add my own.....however, my imposition programs use the HIDDEN crop, trim and bleed boxes in your artwork. If you make a huge page in illustrator and plonk your art somewhere arbitrarily in the centre I have to mess arounf for a few minutes to try to work out where your boxes lie. I am pretty careful, but I cannot guarantee other operators out there so you will probably start at the press with an error tolerance before you even start printing.
The correct way to use the adobe programs is to define the FINISHED size (for business cards we generalise at 90x55mm). Then in the setup section you define your bleeds and slugs. Design your cards on that artboard (and add as many artboards as you want). Then when you are finished EXPORT to PDF (and make yourself a saved preference for this to make it a 1 step process) using the marks options in the side panel. Your new PDF file is perfect finished art for your printer and we can impose to our hearts' delight knowing the correct boxes are in the meta data and our programs will be 100% accurate.
Now some of our clients need to show multiple cards up on a sheet to their clients so do not like this...but there is a trick. All you need to do is pull out an artboard around all your smaller cards. Take note of what artboard number this one is. Then all you do is export to pdf and only put that number into the Pages to be exported dialog (and put the other pages into the  finished art file being sent to your printer). The one going to your client can have manual trim artwork added but clients don't need rego or colour marks so don't worry.
Everyone happy and really easy to do as this is how the program was built to be used
    Good luck

  • Change color for trim and registration mark

The trim and registration marks are having the color name "All" in the generated pdf from InDesign. Any one help me out on how to change the color to K (black) while generating PDF out of InDesign.

    JohnAD77 wrote:
Is it possible to make to 4/c to 1/c (black 100%) while generating PDF itself without adding marks in the document?
Maybe, in CS6, by exporting to Grayscale, but this will make everything black ink only. Otherwise, no.
To add your own marks, add a slug area to the file, draw whatever you want for marks in that area, using [Black], and turn off automatic marks in the export dialog, but Include Slug Area under the bleed settings.

Hi Keith, sorry for my late reply.
Surely I am able to connect to the help function when Icontact the website
of AdobeLR5.The problem is as follows,
When I open LR5 on my computer and work with it and try to open the help
function in the software, I don't get it.
When I bought the CD I was naiv enough to believe that I get an independent
working software. I learned in the meantime, that the seller does not allow
to work with, without being connected to them.
I don't believe that I am paranoid, but I like to buy something and use it
without to inform the supplier that I do it. Otherwise I could have bought
the license fpr LR5 via internet.
    Best regards

  • Flash Pro cs5.5, MySQL, login and registration form

    Hi.
I just started to use Adobe Flash CS5.5 and i want to make my new homepage based on flash. Only problem at the moment is that i don't know how to make flash login and registration form what takes data from MySQL. I am messed with this about 3 days but without any results(form is done, but don't know how to make it communicate with MySQL).
    Sorry for my bad english.
    Can anybody please help me?
    Thanks in advance for helping.

You should really start by some literature if you can't even draw a form. I don't mean to be cruel but otherwise you'll never learn flash. If you like the technology, start from the start like everybody else. If you'll have some questions, or will be confused about something you learned, I'll be happy to explain it to you. But don't expect people to program your app for you - this is not learning.
You can start with adobe tv: http://tv.adobe.com/search/?q=flash&product=17&topic=0&version=10&sortby=relevancy
    Great page with tutorials: http://gotoandlearn.com/

Or you can find professional tutoring videos at www.lynda.com (but they are not free)

  • Secure Checkout and Registration?

I've been away for some time.  A client whose e-commerce site I set up last year, is having issues with non-secure forms.  I think the code may be out of date.  Have things changed such that I may need to go back to the Web Forms and recreate the check out and registration buy forms that I'd previously customized?  They used to work properly.
The "Registration - Buy" page is not showing to be secure. The Check Out page will show secure if the customer is logged in, but once you click "Check Out" the "Registration Buy" page is not secure.  If you fill out the form and click to complete the transaction, an message pops up warning that you are sending an non-secure form.
PayPal is the only method of payment we are using. Thanks for any advice.

    Thanks for the response.
That was my other thought. I think the client may have restored the default form or something to cause the secure links to change.  There is a script added to make the shipping address the same as the billing address.
    The site is http://www.megasportsoutlet.com.
    I appreciate the help.

  • Deployment and registration of WebServices doc

Web Services deployment and registration procedures on SOAP server are documented somewhere? How can you do this manually since JDeveloper is not handling it properly (EJBs)?
    Thank you,
    Cristian

I've encountered this problem too. I can successfully deploy my web-service on AS and successfully publish it on SOAP-server, but my client, uses this service, encountered a problem 'SOAP-Server: unable to resolve <name of my web-service>'. I suppose, the origin of this problem is in some paths, cuz when I place classes of my web-service in <JDeveloper_home>/j2ee/home/lib - everything works fine !

  • Installed AND Registrated LR 2 years ago. Shut down my Laptop. Next time I wanted to use LR it wouldn't start --- "Registration required"

Yesterday I shut down my Laptop.
Today I started it and wanted to use LR but it said "registration required" but I intalled AND registrated LR 2 years ago. Since then I never formated the Laptop. It came all of a sudden.
I still have my Key and everything but I'm affraid that if I use it a 2nd time on the same computer, I will not be able to use it on a 2nd one
How could that problem be fixed?
As I said, it was already registrated for 2 years on that exact same Laptop and there was no formatation what so ever
    Thanks in advance

This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs?

  • GoLive CS2 (8.01) and registration screen

This may have been addressed, I did try and do some searches also if it has. I have a Windows 7 PC that I have Adobe GoLive CS2 (8.01) installed on and running. However each and every time I start the program, the registration screen comes up. I would like to find the steps to suppress the registration screen since it still is happening after completing both activation and registration for this product.
Any steps to try and resolve this?

Found a discussion on running CS2 with Vista and mentioned in the thread that this is a Windows UAC issue, so no need to reply what it would have taken Adobe Tech Support 1 minute to report to me. They refused to even offer any assistance on the minor issue.... as Windows 7 as their tech stated is not compatible with Adobe GoLive CS2.
This can be considered as solved. If anyone else has the same problem right mouse click launch the program with the run as adminstrator option and either register the package or click on do not register and then you will not be nagged about registration again when opening the program.

  • Is the Welcome and Registration sequence a one-time thing?

    Greetings,
Since I live and work overseas, I have had my new 2.53 Macbook Pro shipped to a friend visiting the US, who will hand carry it to me in a few days. She has already given it the white glove inspection for dings and dents, since the first one I ordered had souring pad scratches to the left of the trackpad (yes, right out of the box). That one was sent back immediately...I didn't even turn it on!
On to my question: I would really like my friend in the US to turn the MBP on for the first time to check out the LCD and to listen for fan buzzing noises while she is still in the US, in case this one has to be returned too. BUT I am concerned that perhaps the opening "Welcome" and "registration" sequence when the computer is turned on, for the first time, is a one time thing, and obviously, I need to register it in my name. Plus, I like watching the welcome sequence.
Is there a way for my friend to turn on my Macbook Pro, look and listen for defects with the LCD and fans, but then somehow shut the computer down in a way where the whole welcome and registration sequence will launch again when I receive it and turn it on for the second time? If this cannot be done, I obviously will not have her power it up, but wait until it arrives to me in a couple of days.
Many thanks everyone for the help and advice.

I would have no way to know. Historically some data collectors have published user responded problem/defect surveys, but none have been reported since the early 2006 product releases. At that time MBPs had about a 30% problem/defect percentage, but that included any one of about 20 or so things a user could report including things that may not have even been true defects.
I purchased my new MBR about two weeks ago, and so far not a single problem. In fact since 2006 I've purchased a first and second generation MBP in addition to the most recent model, a second generation MB and iMac, and a first generation Mac Pro. I haven't had a single problem with any of them.
All I can tell you is that a small minority of users post here - those having problems some of which they may have caused themselves. And you cannot trust any media hype over supposed problems because they base their stories on what they read here then blow something completely out of proportion.

  • Novell update and registration servers

bit of an odd one i've run into
client has moved from an onsite proxy server to a cloud based one (zscaler). Due to the authentication mechanism now being browser based and not the traditional popup prompt type, we cannot use the proxy to get to the Novell update and registration servers
Windows update and activation servers are added to an exception list to not require authentication at the proxy level so they will work
So the question I have is, what are the addresses that I need to add to the zscaler proxy to make novell server activation and updates work properly, as I can't seem to find a list of server addresses anywhere on the Novell website, only a list for sles 9 which is not of much use now since we are using a mix of OES2 and OES11 servers
Can someone help me out here or point me in the direction of where to look for the details about the servers, the only one I know of is nu.novell.com but i'm betting there is more than just that one

I'd certainly start with nu.novell.com and see if that gets you going.
And if that doesn't do it, some good WireSharking should help point out
where it is trying to get to.
Don't run away from a solution just because it looks too simple as there
are enough of us trying to keep up the KISS principle that some really
    are that simple.

  • Developing a login and registration page

Can someone tell me what would be a good way to create a

2005 to store the user information. Could I use PHP with MS SQL

If you end database will be SQL2005 why are mucking around

can download a copy of SQL Express for development purposes.
