Warranty in USA only?

I bought an iPhone5 in this January in Detroit.  I found the HOME button wasn’t quite responding but I didn’t care too much. But yesterday it completely went wrong. No matter how long or how many times I pressed it, the phone is not functioning. However the virtual “home” button on the screen is working well.
Today I went to Apple store in Shanghai (Nanjing EAST) for repair. The staff told me I can only have warranty service in the states because this was purchased there. Is there any other way instead of flying my phone back to Detroit?

The warranty is not, and has never been, international. That phone can only be serviced in the U.S. You will either have to take it back to the US or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service. (It can be serviced at any Apple Store in the U.S.)

You can't redeem or use that card outside of the USA, and can't change the iTunes Store country while having an unused gift card balance.

  • MacBook Pro's warranty outside USA

    Hello guys,
I am going to visit USA and buy a MacBook Pro 15 " Retina. My question is when I come back to Bulgaria ( where I live ) will my MacBook still got a warranty and if it brеак or something like that can I bring it to the local apple reseller to fix it ?
    Thanks in advance.

I am not sure about the standard warranty but this page states that with Apple Care (extra cost) it will have global coverage.
About the middle of the page.
    http://www.apple.com/support/products/mac.html
    Quote
"The AppleCare Protection Plan provides global repair coverage, both parts and labor, from Apple-authorized technicians around the world."
As Davin12 says ask at purchase on either standard or Apple Care.

  • My S4 was under warranty and they only send out reconditioned phones. They on they sent was worse than the first one.

Not happy. The phone they sent out to replace my S4, that is under warranty ,was reconditioned and it has more problems than my other phone.  They said Samsung will not let them replace it with a new one.  What's the deal?

    stef7 wrote:
A reconditioned or certified device should operate properly.
As should your "NEW" phone, too. Unfortunately, not everything works as it should and therein lies the need for a warranty.
    stef7 wrote:
If they don't (and obviously that is the case here), the OEM is not fulfilling their warranty are they?
Only if they don't offer to replace your phone again if you have another problem. Otherwise they ARE fulfilling their warranty.
    stef7 wrote:
Oh wait, who EXACTLY is doing the reconditioning / re-certification on these devices?
Obviously I have no idea, but I am sure it is simply a conspiracy where they are using untrained 5 year olds.

What documentation are people getting that shows it passed various tests properly?
I was unaware that the warranty promised this type of documentation.

  • Warranty over USA or Canada...

    I every one...
I'm looking for a Photo iPod. However, if I buy it in USA, does the warranty will still be valid in Canada, where I live?
Moreover, the 20Gb Photo iPod is the lastest "Photo" iPod that came out. Is it right? After that the new iPods were "Video" ones...
Also, what happens if the battery of my iPod gets wrong and doesn't last long anymore? If I'm within warranty time, will I get a new iPod or will Apple just fix the problem? And what is a "bad" battery? When do I know that my battery is finish and doesn't last long enough?
I have another question: What's the difference between the 30Gb Photo iPod and the 20Gb one? I think that the 30Gb was the older model of colored iPods, but is there a difference between these two iPods? What's better; a 30Gb one or a 20Gb one?
Finaly, do you think it's safe to buy a new Photo iPod from eBay?
    Thanks a lot!
Hope to be answered soon ; )

the apple warranty is international man, i bought my ipod in california, didnt register it and can still replace it from Shropshire (England, United Kingdom). I did have to send a proof of purchase though. REGISTER IT WHEN YOU GET IT!

Yeah, unless you count the ipod nano

The battery should be fine, but if there is a genuine fault with the battery (forcing the ipod not to run) and it is replaced in under a year, it should be fine.

Check that there is some good feedback, then yes.

You can call AT&T. If the phone is out of contract they may unlock it for you. Other than that, you won't have much help here as we cannot discuss unauthorized means to unlock the phone.

  • If I buy an iPad in USA is it still under warranty in the UK?

Does an ipad warranty from USA apply in UK when I return home?

Warranty is not international. If it's a wifi-only iPad then you might be ok but even for wifi iPads you may not get warranty service
    Warranty document :
IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

  • I have an iphone 4S and it is within the warranty period. However my power button is jammed. Will i get an over the counter replacement in any store in the USA?

I am currently situated in India and they have a messed up replacement policy but, if i send my phone with the bill and everything will i get an over the counter replacement? The phone was bought in August 2012 and the power button jammed in November 2012. Also, does Apple only replace the phone or the earphones and everything that comes with it?

You will have to physically take the iPhone to an Apple store in the US,
if that is where it was purchased. If you are not going to be in the US, send
it to a friend or relative there to take into Apple for you, and then that person
can ship it back to you - shipping costs and insurance are your responsibility.
Apple does not accept international shipments for replacement nor will Apple
ship a replacement out of the country where replacement is made. Only your
iPhone - if determined to be defective - will be replaced, and your iPhone is all
you need to take to Apple.
iPhone warranty is valid only in country of original purchase - it has always been
this way for iPhones. The replacement policy is not messed up - it is working as
designed. Apple India would not have the correct handset to replace the one you
    purchased in the US.

The warranty is valid only in the country in which it was originally intended for sale by Apple.  The only exception is the EU, where the warranty is valid anywhere in the EU (as long as the phone was originally meant for sale there).

  • IPad AIR bought in USA - use in Germany with t-online SIM?

My business partner in USA provide a new iPad AIR - either WLAN only or WLAN plus cellular.
Is it possible to use an iPad AIR, which was bought in USA together, with a German SIM-card from "T-MOBIL/TELEKOM Germany"?
I am wondering, if this works!

  • Ipad warranty and aftercare

Dear moderators- please note that this is a genuine question, it is not a non-constructive rant or complaint, it is not off topic.
A 15 year old member of my party purchased an ipad2 in LA last month. She was told that as she lived in the UK she would need to purchase the Applecare premium. Later I returned to the store with her to question the necessity of the extra purchase. I was told that in the event of hardware failures she would be able to return the ipad to a UK Apple store for a free repair (within the initial 12 month period).  Armed with this knowledge she asked for (and received) a refund.
Given that the initial advice was incorrect, I am not 100% confident that the latter is correct. Can anyone clarify the situation?
Additionally after the 12month period does the Applecare only cover hardware failure? Surely the likelihood of hardware failures in this period is miniscule.
    Thanks in advance.
BTW MODS if I have posted in the wrong place then please move rather than delete my post, tnx

    sorry guys...
I guess I phrased the first part of my question badly.
She was told that she HAD to take the AppleCare if she wanted any cover outside of the USA, ie she was led to believe that 12 month warranty was limited to the USA only, and that only by buying AppleCare she would end up with cover in the UK (with the added benefit of an extra 12 months plus phone support).
Later when I pushed the salesman on the subject he then said that the standard 12 month warranty would be honoured in the UK.
I assume that statement 1 is false, what about statement 2?
