WARRANTY. mSATA disappears. W530 replaced. mSATA replaced. STILL PROBLEMS.

Rcvd this Lenovo W530, 2436CTO. Unit had DVD issues (Drive would go to sleep and never wake up). Lenovo sent me a brand new laptop from China. Unit worked great for about a month when my mSATA drive crapped out. The Lenovo Solution Center indicated my 16GB Sandisk drive was bad. I notified Lenovo with the Error code generated and they sent me a new mSATA. I installed it and reinstalled the ExpressCache SW (software). Everything once again was well with the world UNTIL....during normal operation my screen and mouse locked up for about 30 seconds, disk light was on and after the 30 seconds, my control came back but my ExpressCache drive, the sandisk mSATA was gone...not even in computer management...simply gone. Upon opening an elevated command window and running ECCMD -INFO I see the HFS drive is NOT MOUNTED. Several seconds later it shows **ERROR** ECCmd Requested device is not available : 2 --- NOW IF I reboot (restart), during POST I am advised that the mSATA drive is not available and to press ESC to continue. BUT IF I do a HARD REBOOT (shut completely down and then turn back on) POST continues normally and the mSATA drive is found and ExpressCache starts working again. I confirm this by using the ECCMD command. HOWEVER at some time during the use of the machine the same thing happens. It is extremely repeatable with the SW I have installed.
For some reason the BIOS is reporting that the mSATA is no longer available until a hard reboot.
Any suggestions out there besides buying a SSD HDD and throwing the mSATA drive away?
Is it possible that the original mSATA drive went bad causing some interfacing component on the MoBo to become defective? (thermal runaway) OR something screwed up in the ESCD (?) somewhere in the low level area of the BIOS? I am lost, frustrated, and very discouraged at my 1700 dollar apparent blunder and dont relish trying to explain the issue to a tech. Could a clean install have anything to do with it? Is it possible the O/S is telling the BIOS to disable the mSATA drive because of a perceived conflict? (IRQ conflict, etc.)

Most 16GB mSATA SSDs included in ThinkPads for use as "file cache" are not of good quality. So, yes, they can go bad pretty quickly.
On top of that, I share Thors.Hammer's view that the "mSATA SSD-based file cache" approach is questionable.
If you spend that much money on a serious workstation notebook such as W530, try not to be cheap on any component. I would use either a mSATA SSD or a 2.5" SSD (128GB typically) as my boot/OS/programs/VMs drive. My second drive would be a 2.5" HDD if you need up to 1TB for storage, or a 2.5" SSD if you can live with 256GB or 512GB.
In your case, you can yank out that puny, low-quality mSATA SSD and, if you like, replace it with a "large enough" mSATA SSD by Crucial or Mushkin, and not use it as a "file cache". I wish Samsung would make mSATA SSDs of the same calibre as their 830 and 840 Pro SSDs, but Crucial will do fine.

Within the warranty period, unless the failure was caused by accidental damage it will be replaced for free.

Apple does not repair smashed phones. It will replace the phone with another iPhone 3G as an out of warranty exchange for 199.00 USD.
You should check with your carrier to see if you are eligible for a subsidized iPhone 4. It may cost you the same as the out of warranty replacement for a phone almost 3 generations old.

First make sure the batteries aren't dead and that the keyboard hasn't already been paired with another device that's in range. If it hasn't, the keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.

If you have a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, you may need a wired keyboard to complete the pairing process. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.

Powerbook g4 1.67ghz motherboard replacement 4 time and still problems

My powerbook g4 1.67 has had a series of duff motherboards since the first replacement due to the problems with it's memory slot (a well known fault) and since then has had 3 additional motherboards fitted and the present one has heat issues that result in the fans never terminating once active.
I spoke to apple customer services and they told me they will repair it once more and if it's not fixed they are unsure what will happen after that, I phoned back as politely asked for a replacement laptop but they refused on the grounds that it's more than 12 months old.
They gave me the uk Apple Operations postal address, and told me to take it up with them, they also said that I won't get that far in a roundabout way.
Is there anything I can do to get a replacement or am I completely screwed on this? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Hi, Steven, and welcome to Apple Discussions. I suspect that if Apple has agreed to replace your logic board once more at no charge, you won't progress to any next step that involves anything different until you've allowed that step to go forward and it has failed to solve the problem. After five logic boards and no resolution, I can't imagine how anyone could fail to agree that a replacement was justified. Just be sure to keep all your contacts civil and within the bounds of propriety, whatever happens, and keep all your documentation of what's been done and when.
I don't know hether it would be possible, now or at any later time, for Apple to replace your PB with another of the same model. A replacement for it might have to be a MacBook or MacBook Pro, which would bring with it some issues of its own. If things get to that point, be sure to inform yourself about those issues to avoid nasty surprises.

Visibility of the Podcasts section is controlled from within the Edit > Preferences dialog.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
Missing tracks
Typically this can happen because a file or folder is accidentally shunted to the wrong location. iTunes can also get confused if it expects to be talking to an external drive which isn't there. If will often reset the default media folder location and may have trouble finding files in the old folders.
Select one of your tracks that is missing in action. Press CTRL-I to Get Info. Cancel when asked to try to locate the file, then look at the location given on the summary tab. This where iTunes thinks the file ought to be? Now find out where it actually is. Post back the two locations for comparison. I should be able to give you some steps to reconnect everything once I can determine which of the things that might have gone wrong is most likely in your case.
When you get it all working make a backup!

It sounds like you will still want to link your iPad and computer, but you want to prevent the iPad from syncing information from your computer to your iPad. I have an article here for you that can help tell you how to set this up:

You will want to follow the steps here to set up the iPad for syncing, but when it comes time to sync, you'll just want to make sure that the boxes for syncing the multitude of items that you can sync remain unchecked so that none of that information gets synced into the iPad.
Another note: your second Apple ID will not be able to access the apps, music, movies, tv shows, etc., that you have purchased under your primary Apple ID. Even though it seems that the secondary Apple ID still has access to those items, that is just because you are viewing your second Apple ID through the iTunes Store section on your computer and you have those items saved locally on your computer. You will need to repurchase and download all of the content that you wish to use again on your second Apple ID, if that is what you wish to solely use on this iPad.

What is the difference between "Replace" and "Replace by Security"

I am implementing FDM to Load data to HFM, I set them up with a proper security on the shared service and FDM. When I load data to HFM from FDM, there are 4 options to load data. (Replace, Merge, Accumulate, Replace by Security)
A document states that
Replace: Clears all account values from the target application, and replaces that the data in the application with the data in the load file.
Replace by Security: Loads data to the target application only for members to which you have access.
However, even if I used “Replace”, it worked with security which I set.
Does anyone know what the difference between “Replace” and “Replace by Security”?
Is there any way that FDM works without security?

The fact both methods are producing the same results will either be coincidence or perhaps because you are mis-interpreting the difference between the 2. When you run a Replace HFM will clear out all data based on the combination of Scenario, Year, Period, Entity and Value dimensions it does not care if you have set up security classes which may restrict access to any of the other dimensions i.e. Account, Custom1 thru 4. When you use Replace By Security HFM will still clear on the original criteria but it will respect security class restrictions set up on the other dimensions e.g. if you are assigned to a security class which is restricted to accessing only a certain subset of accounts, HFM will not clear data fro the accounts you don't have access to when you use Replace By Security
