Warranty question re new camera and lens kit

Over boxing day i purchased a new Canon 6D with a kit lens (the 28-105mm).  I have a 28-70mm f/2.8 so was thinking of selling the 28-105mm that came as part of the kit ... BUUUUUT was wondering if that would in any way impact the camera warranty if something where to occur with the camera?  Haven't read the fine print but think the default is a one year warranty from Canon Canada.... should i hang on to the lens 'just in case' for that long or can i sell to try to pay for the purchase
Body: Canon 6D, Canon T1i, Canon Elan II,
Glass: Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, Canon 18-55 kit lens, Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6, Canon 50mm f/1.8,
Flash: Canon Speedlite 430ex ii

The camera body has it's own warranty so you can sell the lens but once sold it's warranty is over according to everything I've read. Warranty isn't transferable on Canon or Nikon but can be on some store bought policies.

  • Missing Camera and Lens Metadata after iPhoto Import

I've noticed that the Photos for Mac app seems to have "lost" all of the Camera and Lens Metadata associated with each of my photos. Has this happened to anyone else?
No matter which photo I choose, the Info inspector window shows "No Camera Information" and "No Lens Information".  I've confirmed that the Camera and Lens metadata is still present in the original iPhoto Library.
If I create a new iPhoto Library with just a dozen or so pictures and then choose that Library when launching Photos for Mac, by pressing the Option key while clicking the Icon, the photos are imported with the Metadata intact.  Clearly something went wrong with the import of my much larger main iPhoto library. (The main library has over 100,000 photos in it.)
I'm wondering if there is some way to force Photos for Mac to re-index the Metadata.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Lens Correction won't list my camera and lens

Why won't the Lens Correction filter recognize my camera and lens, which is shown in the metadata below the correction window?  I had been using the venerable Canon 5D Mk II and now the Mk III.  For images taken with the III it doesn't even list Canon in the Camera dropdown -- too new?  Even with the II, I had to choose the camera manually and then choose the lens from a very tedious list, and had no indication if it was using the focal length in the case of a zoom, or the aperture.
I do strongly prefer to do this correction in Camera Raw or Lightroom, and realize it needs to be done on an uncropped image to be accurate.  I'm probably missing something, but why even present it as an auto correction if it can't use the metadata?  Why not just limit it to the manual correction?

Lens Correction within Photoshop - CS5 E and CS6 E- Shows camera/lens info for the 5DMkIII in the lower left hand corner,  but nothing in the drop down menu.
    CS5:
    CS6:
But with both CS5 E and CS6E,  it's the reverse here. Bottom left corner doens't show camera information, but I can select it manually from the drop down list. Also, I can select the other items just about the drop down menus list.
    CS5
    CS6
Sorry for appearing to post duplicate images, but they aren't. It's screen captures from both CS5 Extended and CS6 Extended.
Anything from Canon 7D and earlier (including most of the Canon Powershots, but not the G1X), I get all the options in the drop down menus on the right. Canon 5DMkIII and Olyumpus OMD EM5, nothing.
    I hope that's documented enough.

  • Lightroom, 5.5, Mac version: lens metadata incomplete and/or inconsistent.  Photos taken with the same camera and lens display the lens metadata differently in LR 5.5, but are the same in the original files

LR is putting different descriptions of the same lens, used with the same camera, in the metadata of photos taken on the same occasion.
    For example:
The following two images were taken with the same camera and lens.
They were imported at the same time into LR by copying.
The only difference in treatment is that the first was an untouched out-of camera jpeg, the second had been flipped using Preview on the Mac.
The one that was flipped has a full description of the lens, the one that was untouched has an abbreviated description.
When you show the file in the Finder and read the metadata using Preview, the correct full lens description appears.
Why is LR displaying the metadata differently for these two files?

Can you zip up a few of your GoPro images, upload them to dropbox.com and post a share link, here, so others can experiment with them, or do you mean this issue is global to all camera models?

  • Missing camera and lens profiles in CS6 upgrade

I have just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 on OSX 10.7.5 and am running the latest software (ie CS6 13.05 and ACR 8.2.0.94).  My old Canon 7D profiles are available in CS6 but I can't see any profiles for the latest cameras like the Canon 6D or Ricoh GR (among several others), which are meant to be supported.  Is this a known bug and/or is there some fix?

I had lots of hassle installing CS6 the first time (ie installation error code U44M1P7 - tried lots of workarounds to no avail) so eventually deleted both the old CS5 and CS6 and did a fresh install of CS6.  This worked fine and didn't appear to have any problems in then running all the latest software updates.  However, the camera and lens profiles I was expecting to see in ACR and PS Lens Correction Filters just aren't there.  I'm just using PS CS6.

  • Cleaning Your Camera and Lens

Like everything we own cameras and lenses get dirty and should be cleaned from time to time. It’s really not too difficult, but make sure to do it right. The feeling of scratching an expensive lens while trying to clean it is something you’ll regret for a while.
Items you need to clean your camera and lens
    Brushes
    Air Blower
    Lens Cleaning Liquid
    Cleaning cloth or Tissues
How to clean you camera and Lens
First you should take a brush, designed to clean photography equipment, and brush off all surfaces.
Now take the Air Blower and blow any remaining loose debris (i.e. sand, dust, etc…) off the camera and lens surfaces. Pay special attention to crevices. You should also make sure to blow out the memory card slots and accessory ports.
Next get your Cleaning Cloth/Cleaning Tissues wet with some of your Lens Cleaning Liquid and clean all surfaces. When cleaning glass surfaces, like lenses and LCD screens, make sure to move the cloth/tissue in a circular motion.  I personally like a Microfiber Cleaning Cloth over tissues.
I would not try to clean the rear lens element of a DSLR or Compact System Camera (CSC), beyond just blowing any dust off of it. Being that the rear lens element should almost always be protected from the elements it shouldn't need to be cleaned much.
Do not use compressed “air” on a camera. Unless held perfectly upright for short amounts of time, these can emit aerosol and the pressure involved can damage some areas of a camera.
There are techniques to clean a camera’s sensor, but other than blowing off the sensor with a blower, I would recommend not doing this yourself. Although you can do this, it would be terrible to damage your camera’s sensor. If your camera’s sensor gets dirty, have it professionally cleaned. A professional knows what they are doing, and if they happen to make a mistake, they should cover it.

There are two ways to approach this:
*Leaving feedback for the developers about the functionality of this icon in [https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback/firefox?#moreinfo]
*Suggest a functionality alternative in bugzilla cc sevaan -> however including the steps to reproduce, what is expected and what actually happens in the bug description is very important.

  • I want to enter the info specific to my camera and lens into the lens corrections options in P'shop 2014 and L'room 2015 but they're not on the list. (Nikon D-750 with 24-120 lens). How do I fix this?

I recently upgraded from a Nikon D-7000 to a D-750 with the Nikkor 24-120 mm lens but they aren't on the list of options in either P'shop or Lightroom under camera and lens profiles. Since every tutorial I viewed on the 24-120 lens suggested fixing the distortion issues in P'shop, how do I make the choice without those specific products being on the list? (P'shop 2014, L'room 2015)

A few do shoot in JPEG...I definitely do not!
    You're welcome!

    Hi Daytrip589,
Just wondering if you're situation has been resolved. I have a similar problem with PSE 11, getting the message about nothing was imported. I shoot RAW, have imported with this camera before ( a Canon G15) but couldn't the last time I tried. Cheers, Glenn.

  • Fuji xt-1 camera and lens support

I just purchase the Fuji XT-1 camera and lenses, I don't see   lens support under lens correction in the development module, I don't see Fuji supported.
Is there support for Fuji and the x series lenses?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom

The XT1 files have built-in lens correction in Adobe raw converters, although in the sample file I found, it was only for Chromatic Aberration, so the lenses must be very good if they don't need distortion correction:

  • Can you add new camera and lenses to lens correction profile module

I refer to Lightroom version 3.6.  I have purchased a panasonic-gx1 plus 14-42mm & 45-175mm lenses and would like to add the lens profiles to the lens correction module.  Appreciate if someone could let me know if this possible?

The GX1 is supported on 3.6.
If the lens profiles you need are not available in 3.6 use can use the downloader to check for availability or create by yourself.

  • Question on new TC and Apple's stated 60% improvement

I wanted to check into the performance improvements as stated in Apple's web site that the new TC provides as much as a 60% improvement. I was at my local Apple Store yesterday and discussed this with a genius.
If you read the words carefully at http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC344LL/A/Time-Capsule-2TB?fnode=MTY1NDA0Mg&mc o=MTMzNzU2MjI
"New technologies in Time Capsule and refinements to Time Machine make backing up to Time Capsule using Snow Leopard up to 60 percent faster than before.[footnote 2]"
    The footnote 2 states
"Testing conducted by Apple in October 2009 comparing preproduction Time Capsule (Late 2009) with shipping Time Capsule (Early 2009) units. Testing was conducted on preproduction 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo-based iMac (Late 2009) systems. Performance will vary based on system configuration, network, file sizes, data sets, wireless interference, and other factors. Performance tests are conducted using specific systems and reflect the approximate performance of Time Capsule."
From this the old and new TCs were used with Snow (does not indicate which Snow version but suspect is would have been 10.6.1 using identical Mac hardware.
It does not indicate if wire or wireless was used.
What confuses me is that the first statement states "New technologies in Time Capsule and refinements to Time Machine...". What exactly is implied by the refinements to Time Machine ? Is it refinements done in Snow vs. Leopard? If so how much of the 60% can be attributed to the Time Machine refinements vs. the new TC's hardware technologies.
As I stated above, it appears Apple tested the new and old TC with same Mac OS X OS on the same Mac hardware in Oct 2009. This means the 60% is attributable to just the new TC hardware.
However I strongly suspect the 60% comes from not only the new TC hardware but also from the Snow OS TM software refinements. Thus is you're running Snow with an old early 2009 TC you may be seeing some of the 60% already -- but this begs the question of just how much of the 60% are you seeing. It could be that you're seeing 99% of the 60% and that the new TC performance is purely from improved antenna range for example.
It is very unclear what the 60% represents and I speculate that it's not a percentage increase you're likely to see if you're running Snow today with an early 2009 TC and swap it for the new TC.

When I setup an album for gapless playback in iTunes
gaps are still present. Is this b/c my files are in
MP3 format and need to be in Apple's format or is it
something else? They play with gaps on the iPod as
    well.
Gapless playback only works if the songs were originally meant to be gapless - like a dance CD that mixes the songs together - you hear the whole album as one track. It does not matter if you change the settings in the song information, that is for searching and playlists - if a song is gapless it will automatically play gapless. You do not need to do anything to the song after the first run of iTunes 7 for this to be enabled.
    Also, I am on my 3rd iPod in 6 months. I have a 3
year warranty w/Best Buy and twice I had to return it
b/c the battery was failing. With the new 80GB iPod
that just came out does it use a different (better)
battery? If so I would like to see if they will swap
    my 60GB for an 80GB. I don't see why they wouldn't
since the new 80GBs are $50 cheaper than the 60GBs.
The reason for the third return would be yet again a
    failing battery.
You would have to ask Best Buy about that. And yes the battery is a new battery.
