Warrenty and customer non service

SO I have loved my mv3 and taken very good care of it.
Thursday night Oct 7th the speaker quit working.... little did I know the warrenty expired on Friday. Oct. 8th.  I did not have time Friday to go into Verizon so I waited til Saturday morning.... Now my phone is out of warrenty and LG & Verizon could not care less.  It is my problem and only option is to buy a new phone.... If I treated my customers this way I would not have any, but I am not as big as Verizon and I still have to offer customer service.

When you defend yourself in the first line,and  then just so happen the night before your warranty runs out something happens..........I am calling your bluff and it is your problem. Not LG or Verizon's issue.

  • Standard Web Service and Customized Web Services with or without PI?

    Hi All,
    I want to know how I can use Standard Web Service available in SAP  and customized Web Services
    without PI Interface?
    And what is the best practice to expose services ,via PI Interface or directly?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Pushkar

    This is purely based on your requirement. If you use PI middleware to expose web services, you get standard functionalities such as certificate authentication, logging, message reprocessing for the failed messages etc.  If your requirement is so simple, then you might not need PI. In this case you can develop simple webdynpro for abap program to create webservice and expose the webservice in ECC webservice runtime. You can let anyone to consume within your network. other ways like exposing BAPI/RFC as webservice.  I would recommend going with PI.

  • Open letter to Verizon Wireless Management and Customer No-Services

    After more than 10 years as a customer of Verizon Wireless, I have recently encountered several situations that have caused me to begin the process of changing my service provider to another company. Verizon has "zero" loyalty or appreciation of its existing customers; they have poor, and in one particular case, rude customer no-service representatives and policies.
    I purchased a new smart phone for my college daughter. Of course, activation of this new phone required the purchase of a data plan, even though she doesn't need or intend to use data services. (That's fine; I was aware of  this cost even though I believe it to be over-priced). In addition, they also required a $30 fee for signing a new contract. Seriously? Are you kidding me? A fee for the "privilege" of signing a contract with the big, powerful, arrogant Verizon? I don't want a contract in the first place; it is Verizon that wants the contract. They should pay me for signing a contract. I could understand a fee for a new account setup (not really, but it makes a little sense) but a fee for an existing multi-line, long-time customer where the paperwork is nothing more than a mere mouse click of  the "I Agree" button?
    So, the daughter gets her new phone with 24 months of data (for the low, low price of 25 months.... yea right). We take her old phone, which she has had for several years, and decide to use it on another of the lines in our family plan because it has a qwerty keyboard. Now, I learn that I have to sign up for a data plan to use this old phone on a different line. This phone has been in service for several years with no data plan but now I have to have a data plan to use it?  What the **** ??? I only wanted to use the phone for voice calls and a few texts. I have no need for data. This phone, an ENV3, is not well suited for data services anyway. (No, I won't be using this old phone after all.)
    Companies such as yours dream up  junk fees; this one amounts to $1.25 per month additional revenue. They do this as a way of increasing revenue while advertising a lower price, ie advertise $30.00 per month but actually charge $31.25. I suppose they all pat themselves on the back and start counting all the new-found money. The management is so stupid and arrogant that they do not realize what the long-term impact could be. In this particular case, the end result shall be the net loss of $250.00 per month in revenue. I know that you don't care; that is painfully obvious and clear.
    Well Mr. Verizon, you may consider this to be my official letter of resignation. Consider me gone, done, history. I don't need you, your arrogance, or your over-priced services. I currently pay nearly $250/mo to your company for six phone lines, four of which are "very lightly" used for calls and and a few text only. Personally, on my line,  I do nothing but make and/or receive an average of  two  3-minute calls per week. I put up with a lot of crap making my money; I do not have to tolerate any when spending it. I WILL be taking ALL my business elsewhere. Four of my lines are currently month-to-month with no contract. I will be moving these to another provider in the coming week. The remaining ones will be moved upon expiration of their respective contracts.
    Cheers

    Verizon has no obligation to respect your "loyalty." They do, however, have an obligatory fiduciary duty to their investors, hence the "upgrade" fees, "line access" fees, "regulatory recovery" fees, data plan "repuirements", and data caps, none of which are intended to buy YOU anything. They are assessed primarily to provide profits to them and dividends to their investors, along with a source of capital expenditure for their network expansion whose sole purpose is to attract more customers to provide more revenue streams to meet their aforementioned fiduciary duty to serve their executives and investors ever greater profits and dividends. And in this country, that is ALL this wireless game is about. EVERYTHING else, be it customer service, value of service, loyalty or anything else, is secondary.
    And you think other carriers are any different? Nope. They all are in this for the exact same game, however they choose to play it, plan for plan, fee for fee. Sure, details differ, some plans might look more appealing and for some, prudent shopping around might even net some nominal cost savings, but all in all, they pretty much charge the same fees and require the same data plans, because that's where the big bucks are, and one way or another you will pay them or you will do without (which might be a blessing in disguise).
    I personally don't like this any more than you do, and I would favor strong federal regulatory oversight much as they have in Europe Latin America and Asia, along with homogenized network infrastructure which stimulates competition by allowing easy interoperability of phones and devices irrespective of carrier, but I fear it will be a cold day in hell before we ever see the likes of that here. According Republican thinking, that's just not the "American Way."

  • SharePoint Apps and custom web services as remote services

    Hello,
    After reading documentation about Apps for SharePoint compared with SharePoint solutions I did not find any information about "You
    can develop your custom web services as remote services.".
    Could you please give me links or advise, where I can get information - "How to develop custom web services as remote services" using SharePoint 2013 Apps?

    Hi,
    I would suggest you to use WCF service instead of Web Service,
    also, SharePoint 2013 introduces a Representational State Transfer (REST) service that is comparable to the existing SharePoint client object models.

  • Customer non service

        I called in yesterday to discuss the charging issue with my incredible. The first tech was very concerned and even called HTC to discuss the problem, I spoke directly with the HTC rep and she confirmed that there was a known charging issue with the phone with no resolution at this time. My call was transferred several different times until finally I got disconnected. So I called back and got tech support on the phone and this is where my problems begin. After telling another person about the issue he called me a liar stating there was no such issue and they test the phones and have had no problems, he even stated that the other tech shouldn't have got HTC involved, I told him that everyone I know with this phone has this problem,  I gain nothing by fabricating a story, Just read any forum for the incredible and you will see there is a problem, We this man had the nerve to call me a liar again at which point he was hung up on and another call placed to the first supervisor I could get on the phone. Either way if they (Verizon) refuse to admit that there is an issue,  well then there is nothing to fix. If they wont admit its broke they can't be held liable.
        If you have an issue with charging don't just settle with a bump charge (to aggravating) don't settle for a extended life battery. Call in and report the problem. Make them fix the issue, I will not settle for a bandaid on the problem I want a fix for the issue.

    I apologize for what I said. ( and I can no longer edit my response)
    The battery issue. I still have the plain Jane battery and can get a days worth of service out of it. About 20 hours of uptime and 3+ hours of awake time. But yes, I do the bump charge to get that.But even without it, as much as I did not want to do a factory reset, battery life was helped tremendously due to having to do it. (For another reason)
    I guess they (HTC) feared of the battery over charging would be a problem down the road. Is that an issue??? Yes. But to me it is a non issue. I wake up, start the bump charge and when I am ready to head out the door, the battery is charged.
    There are so many things in our lives that don't meet our expectations, whether it be a relationship. cell phone, TV Monitor, our vehicle..... whatever. For me, I have bigger things to be concerned with.  If 20 minutes while I do other things in the morning cures my cell phone issue, I am happy.

    Hello I'm starting to work with remote event receivers for Office365 and I read that the RERs runs only as Provider-Hosted or Auto-Hosted Apps, so If I wanted to implement for example prevent to the user add items to some list, my question is :
    is it needed an account in a  platform cloud like Azure(to support .net apps) or have a custom server like IIS(with public IP, dns) in order to hosting my WFC service and to be able to manage the events registered into office365 ? or exist another option
    to achieve this goal(prevent to users perform some actions) ? please, can you help me to clarify this ?....

  • Total useless customer non-service

    Second time today I've had to call in, hold time over two hours and 4 transfers on this call and they "claim" that it is resolved.
    I bought a large number of items online, and when ordering I highlighted that it was for a business since they were going to have to deliver a large TV.  The person on chat noted that, and said that we inform delivery so it would be delivered during business hours.  Needless to save, that didn't happen.
    When I saw the delivery window, I called and managed to arrange warehouse pickup.  They told me that it would show the delivery date until I picked it up, and then it would change to the correct status.  Needless to save, that didn't happen.
    I called this morning, to get it corrected, so I could get a receipt.  The first person I talked to could not understand that I didn't need to reschedule the delivery, I already had the item.  The second person I talked to said that they would change the status, and email the receipt.  Needless to save, that didn't happen.
    The new receipt still showed the TV as undelivered, so the amount for the receipt is incorrect (still).  After talking to someone on a garbled connection, it now looks like they have cancelled the TV completely, but the rep (whose name was garbled) said that when the receipt gets emailed, it will show the correct amount and the cancellation is only for the delivery.  What are the odds that it's going to be right.
    I have the feeling that Best Buy wants me to have a free TV, since they don't want to put it on the receipt, even though they charged my card for it.
    Rather annoying way to spend a day.

    Hello austin_skater,
    You situation is certainly not a normal one! I can see how the time you have invested in this, merely to obtain a receipt, could be very frustrating. However, I am glad that the store was able to get you taken care of in the end. My apologies if any inconvenience was caused due to the initial delivery window issue.
    When getting items delivered instead of shipped from an order on BestBuy.com, you should receive call the day before your delivery date to be given a 2-hour window. In the event the given timeframe doesn’t work for you, we can sometimes modify your order to Store or Warehouse Pickup, just as you received. When picking it up at one of our warehouses, you should receive documentation confirming you picked up your item. Additionally, if you were logged into your BestBuy.com account when you placed your order, you should be able to view your previous orders (past 18 months max) and reprint those receipts using the “Account” link and then clicking on “Order Status”. The representatives you spoke with should have been able to provide you with this information.
    Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I have documented your information here at the corporate level to be used for improving how we support our customers. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.
    Your business is much appreciated,

  • Windows could not start the Cluster Service on Local computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 2.

    Dear Technet,
    Windows could not start the Cluster Service on Local computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 2.
    My cluster suddenly went disappear. and tried to restart the cluster service. When trying to restart service this above mention error comes up.
    even i tried to remove the cluster through power-shell still couldn't happen because of cluster service not running.
    Help me please.. thank you.

    Hi,
    Could you confirm which account when you start the cluster service? The Cluster service is a service that requires a domain user account.
    The server cluster Setup program changes the local security policy for this account by granting a set of user rights to the account. Additionally, this account is made a member
    of the local Administrators group.
    If one or more of these user rights are missing, the Cluster service may stop immediately during startup or later, depending on when the Cluster service requires the particular
    user right.
    Hope this helps.

  • BEST BUY ONLINE NEEDS SOME HELP AND CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS TO BE HELPFUL

    After having just spent an hour trying to order something that the website says was in stock, and then finding it really wasn't available, it became obvious to me that Best Buy online leaves something to be desired.  It seems like a classic bait and switch.  Get people to the website with a low priced "deal", only to find it isn't available, however a more expensive version is available.
    So, I call customer service.  I get someone who assures me the order will go through, provide my credit card, redeem my points, and only to find it would not work after all, as it didn't for me.  So I ask for a supervisor.   And I get someone who says "I don't know" and has no answers except that this is the way it is.  To add salt to the wound, he announces that unlocked phones cannot be ordered via telephone.  When asked why the rep didn't know that, yes, another "I don't know".
    As a Best Buy customer who spends way too much money at Best Buy, I find this entire situation unacceptable.  As they say, vote with your feet, I will be exploring other stores to spend my money at.  A website that says something is available, and then isn't, simply is bad business.  And customer service who can only say "I don't know" isn't really customer service at all.
    A "out of the box" idea would be to listen to what I'm saying, and fix it; this isn't the first time this has happened.  Simply saying "I don't know" is only irritating customers who are trying to buy things from Best Buy.  I am so frustrated with the situation and I assure you I will look elsewhere for future needs/wants.

    Hello User269123,
    I apologize for the lengthy delay in responding to you. While we try to reply to all customer service issues posted on the forum within 3 to 5 business days, we don’t usually receive requests for assistance through our IdeaX board. In the future, please make sure that you are posting any customer service related issues to the Customer Service boards to ensure a timely response.
    Having said that, I pulled up your account via the email address attached to your forum profile to properly document your ideas to make sure we take advantage of the feedback you’ve offered. I was glad to see your concerns reached Dan on our executive support team and that he was able to address your case in a timely manner.

  • The lack of details and customer service.

    After less than one month of ownership, my Ideapad K1 power button broke. After talking to a customer service rep (K). She informed me it will have to be returned to Lenovo for repair, which will take about 7 to 10 business days from time of delivery. I asked to speak to a supervisor at which point she puts me on hold and then comes back on the line to tell me the supervisor stated the same thing. At no point did I ask her to confirm this with the supervisor. I asked again to speak to her supervisor, to which she puts me on hold again. The supervisor (R) comes on the line to tell me that the Ideapad K1 will have to be returned for repair. He then transfers me back to K to finalize the return, to which she now informs me I will have to pay for shipping. This is very poor customer service in my view. I will never buy another Lenovo product as long as I live and would advise every one I meet not to buy one either. I was looking at their high end laptops for my corporate deployment, its a shame. Maybe I will be going with DELL as they will send a Tech to my house to perform repairs.   I do hope that all customer calls are recorded as I believe someone needs to listen to the lack of professionalism and customer service that both K and R display.
    Note from Moderator:  Employee name/e-mail/phone removed to protect their privacy per the forum rules.

    Hi i had the excact same thing i got the k1 for christmas and now its january and the power button doesnt work ..i never dropped it always put it in its case and there is not a dam scratch on the thing least they could do is pay for shipping there defective product back to them so it can be fixed

  • My experience in Toshibas product and customer services

    Just a warning to people who may be considering purchasing a Qosmio based on my own experiences and the research I have done in the last week.
    Toshibas customer service is simply not what it once was and there are 100s of reports of Qosmios of all generations suffering extreme issues just outside of warranty periods.
    Ref: Toshiba Qosmio X500-149, Support call reference ********
    I am writing to express my frustration, anger and disappointment in Toshibas product and customer services.
    I am a Freelance Community Manager, Video Game and hardware reviewer in the video games industry presently looking after 2 communities for 2 employers totalling over 2.5m users, I travel to a lot of trade shows, expos and community meet and greets where I require a laptop suitable of showing the employers products which are usually AAA video games or editing video on the fly for publication to social networking sites.
    In January of 2011 my 4 year old Alienware hit that point where it really needed replaced, I opted for a Toshiba Qosmio over the Asus G73 as there was a 300 price difference for near identical spec.
    I managed to source a X500-149 at PCWorld the companies flagship model here in the UK paying 1499 for it on January 26th 2011 reduced from 1799.
    For the 1st 13 month this laptop performed admirably aside a design issue of the fan guards that I raised on the 16th May 2011 with PCWorld where the heat expelled causes the rear guard plastics to become exceptionally brittle and crack. I evangelised the product to anyone who asked me what laptop and model it was that was running these AAA games in such great detail, something I certainly won't be doing in future.
    In early March 2012 it then began randomly locking up requiring a hard reboot this would then suffer issues restarting, reporting Operating system could not be found this would usually point to a fault on the primary HD, disk checking software however reported no errors but this continued to happen which would lead me to suspect the motherboard.
    Within a month of this problem starting the left laptop fan began making a horrible screeching noise and had a distinct wobble whenever high RPM's were required and the machine began to often go into thermal shut-down whilst performing my work duties and utilising graphics and higher than idle CPU.
    I decided on the 23rd April 2012 that enough was enough and I was going to speak to Toshiba as for this to happen to a flagship laptop that was only just out of warranty was simply unacceptable.
    23rd April called to report the issue and was basically told tough luck its out of warranty at this point I also updated my tel numbers with Toshiba as the info was outdated, after expressing my anger at this Toshiba agreed to offer me a extended warranty at a cost of 166.
    I was fuming to say the least Toshibas flagship laptop breaks at 14 month old and I am expected to stump up more money. If I was not desperate as the machine is critical to my work I would have returned the machine to PCWorld under the sales of goods act and it not being fit for purpose.
    As that course of action would likely lead to legal proceedings, engineer reports and even more delay than just dealing with Toshiba for a repair, against my better judgement I called back at 11am on 24th April paid the 166 and took Toshiba up on the warranty extension, order number ********** again having to provide correct tel numbers as where once again incorrect, immediately after I reported the faults.
    Toshiba Support centre on fault reporting where great noting each issue in detail and raised a collection with UPS for the following day.
    The evening of the 24th April whilst I was retrieving data from the laptop in preparation for factory resetting it the machine went into thermal shut-down with a very distinct smell of burning chemical/plastic coming from the rear vents.
    It took me over 90 minutes to get the machine cool enough to actually reboot and get my data after this I shut it back down and boxed it up not be used again.
    I thought the best course of action would be to report this as it was a fair step up from the previous overheating. Wednesday 25th April at around 9am I called Toshiba to report this and was advised this would have to be dealt with by a head office case manager, as the item had become hazardous thus the collection that would take the laptop to the service centre was cancelled.
    At this stage the advisor took my contact numbers again and escalated the case to head office advising at that time that I would be called by HO within 24 hrs.
    Thursday 26th April 15:31 Well past the 24 hr mark and no sign of a call so I called support again and spoke to a advisor called Jacob. Jacob advise that HO had indeed tried calling on 01670 ******* this number was my old number, this number was the number I had advised twice already was incorrect and had provided both a correct land-line and mobile number 3 times previously. To say I was annoyed was a understatement.
    Jacob attempted to contact Chloe Sontag who was looking after my case but the line just rang out so Jacob advised that he had sent an email asking for Chloe to contact myself.
    Friday came and still no contact by 15:00 so I called support who once again tried to patch me to Chloe who's number once again just rang out and again an email was sent asking to call me.
    No call by 17:30 so I called tech support again and spoke to Ian asking for head offices number so I could call them direct, Ian provided the number yet advised that HO are now closed.
    After expressing my frustration with this whole process and just how critical this machine is to my daily working life Ian promised to look into the case on Monday AM and try and expedite actually getting a phone call to at least start the process of having this laptop repaired.
    To say I'm annoyed is really a understatement not only has this failure to receive a simple phone call at least delayed the repair by almost a week but it is costing me more and money daily when I spent a large amount on what I imagined would be a great laptop for 3-4 years and believed Toshiba actually had good customer service in the event something did happen.
    My best guess is that Chloe is on holiday or is part time or such like as her phone just rings out and if that is the case then I would question why assign a case to her, if she isn't then I would want to know why after 2 additional mails advising that the customer is not happy and to contact them has there been no contact or are your case workers just so overworked with faulty products that they can't manage the workload ??
    So far Toshibas inability to produce a product that last as long as you expect it would has cost me 2 days off work that I am having to make up this weekend thus cancelling prior commitments, 166 extended warranty 600 for a HP laptop that I had to go and purchase yesterday 27th April 2012 to actually perform my work on and who knows how much in phone calls by the time this matter will finally be resolved.
    I was happy with Toshiba as a manufacturer and of course laptops can have issues however having now researched these issues far to many Qosmio X500 users report severe overheating just after the 12 month period or within it and many state that repair after repair has taken place but still to no avail, this on top of the cracking of the rear heat-sink guards has to be a design fault.
    This letter will not arrive with you before I have hopefully had a phone call and my laptop has at least been collected for repair, If I have not had that phone call then I would expect another letter very shortly.
    Why have I wrote this letter ? To express my disappointment with just how poor the durability of your flagship laptop is and also at just how poor your customer service are, 1500 is a lot of money in the PC purchasing scheme of things and to expect this quality of hardware and customer service is simply unacceptable.
    I expect the repair to be expedited and if like some of the horror storys I have read online parts required will take 4 weeks + then I would expect a replacement laptop, not everyone uses these things for entertainment and whilst the HP I had to rush out and buy with money I didn't really have available can allow me to perform my core duties to the minimum it cannot allow me to perform my duties to my standards, my employers standards or my expectant communities standards.
    This has been a really unfortunate series of events as I had been considering the X870 Ivy Bridge based on the Nvidia 670m Qosmio which would release soon and passing this X500 onto my partner but after these events and the fact that the HP laptop had to come out of the money saved for it then I can categorically state that will not be the case and I will instead opt for the Asus G55 or G75.
    If this issue cannot be resolved to a satisfactory manner then I will have no option but to seek an independent engineers report as well as printing the myriad of similar reports of these issues on the internet and return the item to PCWorld.
    In line with the sale of goods act 1979 a large electrical item has to be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose for a period of 6 years whilst I wouldn't expect the full 6 years from a laptop I would expect at least 3-4 year especially considering that this is a near 2000 flagship model not a 200 budget model.
    This is a action I really do not want to take as it will likely end in small claims court against PCWorld a company that on this occasion has done nothing wrong, I do not believe in punishing those who are not at fault so its a action I really wouldn't be happy with and I'm sure PCWorld one of if not the largest vendor of Toshiba products when you incorporate the rest of the DSG group wouldn't be too pleased with it either.
    Frustratingly

    So I received my laptop back today after having fans replaced and a good clean as well as the top cover replaced.
    Opened the box and took the laptop out 1st thing I noticed was a screw rattling around inside, SIGH!!!!
    Plugged the laptop in and attempted to boot it at this point it just cycle through finalisation of windows install and shutdown.
    How could a laptop have been tested if it didn't even have windows installed ?
    An hour later and I gave up unplugged it and lo and behold it actually booted when on battery only.
    I then noticed that the SSD was full, oh wait no it wasn't the head office engineer in his infinite wisdom decided that partitioning a 64GB SSD to 2 drives barely even leaving enough for Windows on the C: and wait for it putting the HDD recovery on the second partition was a good course of action.
    So a completely borked install and a screw floating around inside remind me how this particular engineer has a job ??
    I spent the next 15 minutes just moving data around and creating and deleting partiitions to fix this mess up.
    Grabbed HWMonitor to check temps and at an idle 50c on CPU and 36c on GPU they didn't look too bad,
    Installed the Toshiba recommended Nvidia driver a driver I hasten to add that was released in 2010 as Toshiba have not updated the drivers for their flagship series laptop since then, They are happy to take your 1643 that the unit cost but then don't expect support for it.
    Anyway that aside I then installed 1 of the games I work on and began to run the machine through our benchmark software wooooosh the temps shot up to 90c+ on both CPU and GPU and remained at this temp for the duration of the benchmark never quite triggering thermal shutdown, I then loaded into a warzone for further testing and sure enough half way through it the machine shut down due to thermal shutdown.
    I then uninstalled the toshiba driver and tried a NVidia one sure enough as others have advised actual Nvidia drivers seem worse and thermal shutdown came so much earlier.
    I have been to PCWorld today to begin proceedings of returning outside of warranty due to not being fit for purpose or of suitable quality. This is costing me a further 60 and at least 2 weeks more without a proper machine and will likely result in me getting about 1300 back from PCWorld.
    So lets do the math on just what this will have cost me by the time its finished.
    1634 Original purchase

    600 Backup Laptop whilst this was away for a month
    60 outside of warranty assessment

    I will probably receive 1300 back but then 1300 doenst buy me the spec I need for work so I will have to pull out another 300-400 for the required spec so lets add that to the original figures.
    A Toshiba Qosmio, Toshibas flagship laptop will have cost me in total 2910 almost double its actual retail price.
    I will NEVER buy a Toshiba product again and it will become my lifes mission to let everyone know just how terrible they are.

  • Tennis Channel and Customer Service

    My saga continues.  Let me first start out by saying that I divorced DIRECTV to come to Verizon.  So far with the exception of your customer service,  the marriage has been great.  I was watching the Tennis Channel last on Sunday; the Mutua Madrid Open was scheduled to start on Monday.  Imagine, my outrage, when I saw “you are not subscripted to the Tennis Channel” popup on my TV screen.  This took me back to 2011 when Verizon and the Tennis Channel were battling and I could only see the U.S. Open on CBS and ESPN.
    When I phone Verizon on Monday, I was informed there was a program outage and that my service would be restored on Monday night.  That did not happen.  Same song and dance on Tuesday.  On my third day of calling I was finally informed that my current package was outdated no longer carried the Tennis Channel, but if I switched to another plan, for an additional fee, I could get the Tennis Channel.  Reluctantly, I did.  I was assured by Samaritan, that the Tennis Channel would be available in 5 minutes.  It wasn't’t and still isn't’t.  Today, when I spoke to Mike, he informed that the programming change was scheduled to take place on 5/8/13.  At this writing and when I spoke to Mike it was 5/8/13.  Once informed Mike that it indeed now 5/8/13.  He then informed me that Central Time on 5/8/13, that programming was set up for.  Samantha also informed me that my programming was outdated and was no longer offered.  I asked about the 99.00 plan that was being offered on your website for new customers, but she said that I did not qualify for the plan.  What am  I chopped liver?  If I am on a plan that does not exist, why can’t I get the special that is being offered to new customer.  I did not have an agreement in place?
    Verizon, I am irate with all the runaround, and all the “is there something I can help you with” when I have not received any help in the first place.  I am at a loss as to why does the recording ask you for your account information, when the representative finally gets on the phone, they start over and ask for the very same account information, then when, they pass you to another department, I again have to provide my account information.  Yes, my frustration is mounting.
    The bottom line is your customer service stinks; you don’t deliver when you say you are.  And if I was not still angry with DIRECTV, I would go back to them.  My search continues for a cable company that offers actual customer service.  When I find a new cable company that has the Tennis Channel and appears to be somewhat reliable, beware Verizon!

  • HOWTO: Create a Boot Configuration That Has No Driver Signature Checks. Disable Driver Integrity Checks and Install a Custom Non-Signed Driver

    Hello,
    Recently, I had a task where I needed to install a custom non-signed driver onto my Windows 8 64-bit setup. As it is known, Windows has driver enforcement policies that, as a security measure, do not allow you to install non-signed drivers.
    I did not want to alter my current boot configuration so I decided to create a separate boot entry that would have driver signing policies disabled. For some reason I did not find any good source that would contain a step-by-step instruction on completing
    this task, so I decided that I'd better share my experience here.
    Lastly, there are multiple ways how you could turn off driver enforcement policies, but I find the way to do this via boot manager.
    Here's how you can do that.
    1. Press WindowsKey and type 'cmd' (without quotes) to find Command prompt, then click Command prompt icon. If you have User Account Control turned on, hold Ctrl+Shift keys pressed when clicking the icon.
    This will force Windows to ask you for elevation of command prompt. Elevation is necessary for editing Boot Configuration Database (BCD), the database used by Windows boot manager to store boot settings.
    2. In the User Account Control window click Yes to confirm elevation of command shell.
    3. At the command prompt type
    bcdedit
    to list your BCD entries.
    This will give you an output like:
    Windows Boot Manager
    identifier {bootmgr}
    device partition=\Device\HarddiskVolume2
    path \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi

    The section that starts with Windows Boot Manager lists current settings for the boot menu. Here you find what boot entry is chosen by default, this is the one what you will boot into if you do not select any boot entry in the
    boot menu.
    The following record
    default {current}
    indicates that by default my Windows boots into configuration which I use at the moment (currently booted Windows configuration).
    To find out what exactly is current configuration, look into the list of boot entries, records that contain boot loader configuration and are titled as Windows Boot Loader in the bcdedit output.
    For example, the entry shown above is one of my boot configurations. This is one of the boot entries listed on the boot manager screen when I start my PC and it looks like:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8prowmc01.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi

    resumeobject {a329b5cf-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    nx OptIn
    bootmenupolicy Standard
    This record has a unique GUID identifier that can be used to reference this boot entry, which is:
    identifier {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    If we look at the Windows Boot Manager settings, we'll see this entry is the first in order to be displayed in the boot menu on OS start (I marked the unique bits):
    displayorder {a329b5d0-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    {a329b5cc-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    It references my VHD drive, a virtual hard drive where my Windwos 8 setup is residing:
    device vhd=[D:]\win8prowmc01.vhdx
    And it also specifies that the boot manager must use UEFI BIOS extension code to access my Windows boot partition:
    path \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi
    3. Now locate the current boot entry.
    Current boot entry contains boot settings used to boot into Windows configuration to which you are currently booted. It is referenced in the list of boot entries as a Windows Boot Loader record that has the {current} keyword inside and may
    look like:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {current}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description Windows 8 Enterprise RTM
    locale en-US
    inherit {bootloadersettings}
    recoverysequence {a329b5c3-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}

    recoveryenabled Yes
    isolatedcontext Yes
    allowedinmemorysettings 0x15000075

    nx OptIn
    bootmenupolicy Standard
    hypervisorlaunchtype Auto
    Because we are more than happy with current configuration and want to base our new boot configuration on these settings, we need to copy this boot entry ({current}) to a new boot entry.
    This is done by running the following command:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /copy {current} /d "No Driver Signature Check"
    Parameter /d here indicates that the following sequence of characters specifies the display name for the new boot entry that we are creating. The name inside the double quotes will be displayed in the boot menu when you boot your Windows.
    In other words, if you know restart your system, you'll see the new No Driver Signature Check in the boot menu.
    When copied, the entry is automatically given a new GUID identifier, so upon running the command above, you'll see the following line returned (you'll have an other GUID since these are unique identifiers):
    The entry was successfully copied to {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}.
    4. Make sure the entry has been successfully created.
    Run the same bcdedit. (You may specify /enum or /v, or both /enum /v parameters at the prompt to get more detail about boot entries, but simple bcdedit is just enough to see the new entry):
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit
    Windows Boot Manager

    The entry has been created and given a unique a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240 ID. It now has exactly same boot settings as the boot entry we used to boot into current configuration of Windows.
    5. Modify created  No Driver Signature Check entry and specify that Windows must have driver integrity checks disabled when booted using this boot entry.
    Any modifications to boot entries are made using /set parameter. To indicate that we modify a specific boot entry, we must specify the GUID for the No Driver Signature Check record, which is:
    identifier {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    In other words, to edit (add or change) an option for the boot entry, we need to use the following command syntax:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set GUID <boot_option> [<option_value>]
    First, we must specify that we don't want integrity checks be made. This is done by adding the loadoptions option and setting it to DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS value:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240} loadopti
    ons DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    The operation completed successfully.
    6. Verify that load option has been added.
    Run the bcdedit command:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {current}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description Windows 8 Enterprise RTM
    locale en-US
    inherit {bootloadersettings}
    recoverysequence {a329b5c3-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}

    hypervisorlaunchtype Auto
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description No Driver Signature Check
    locale en-US
    loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    inherit {bootloadersettings}
    recoverysequence {a329b5c3-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    integrityservices Enable
    recoveryenabled Yes
    isolatedcontext Yes
    allowedinmemorysettings 0x15000075
    osdevice vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx

    7. Add the option that turns on test signing mode and disables checks of driver signature.
    Adding the testsigning option and setting it to ON does the trick for us:
    C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /set {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240} TESTSIGNING ON
    8. Now we have a boot entry that enables Windows not to do integrity checks and digital signature validation.
    We check it by running bcdedit:
    Windows Boot Loader
    identifier {a329b5d8-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    device vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    path \Windows\system32\winload.efi
    description No Driver Signature Check
    locale en-US
    loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    inherit {bootloadersettings}
    recoverysequence {a329b5c3-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    integrityservices Enable
    recoveryenabled Yes
    testsigning Yes
    isolatedcontext Yes
    allowedinmemorysettings 0x15000075
    osdevice vhd=[D:]\win8rtm.vhdx
    systemroot \Windows
    resumeobject {a329b5c1-fb29-11e1-a74d-f2c962d62240}
    nx OptIn
    bootmenupolicy Standard
    hypervisorlaunchtype Auto
    9. Type 'exit' without quotes to exit from command prompt, and restart Windows.
    Upon booting you will be present with a new boot option to start Windows in configuration that allows you to install custom non-signed drivers.
    Hope this will help anybody to create their own custom boot configurations.
    Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

  • Problems signing in to PSE/PRE Forum and Customer Service

    Hello-I am presently  running PSE/PRE8 on a win8 computer with 12GB memory and1TB HDD. I am searching for information on PSE/PRE12. However, I am having problems with my PW/ID. I understand that Photoshop.com has been eliminated and this is the source of my sign-in problem. I change my PW and the new PW works for a while and it becomes the incorrect PW or User ID. Also,I added a new email address to support email problems. I was sent an email to click a verify link but the link was not included and the email was a noreply. I cannot contact Customer Service because it is sending noreply emails. I was able to signin to the forum during my last visit but was told that I was not eligible to post messages not answer post. I need to be able to reach Customer Service but I  preently do not have a method to contact  it. Thanks.

    Hello Jorma- Thanks for the response however,I cannot locate your response to my "Problems signing in to pse/pre forum and customer Service". I checked the Photoshop Elements forum but I was not able to locate the subject.

  • Repair and Customer Service Nightmares

    I have a verizon landline in a second home.  Two years ago, it took 4 appointments before anyone actually showed up to install the landline.  To date, the wire are still above ground on the road.  One week ago (7/7/13) I received a call from my home security firm telling me they had lost contact with my unit, probably meaning the phone was out of order.  I called Verizon after a few days on 7/11 to set up a service order.  They were to come on 7/13 between 1:00 and 5:00.  I told them I had no cell coverage at the home so they would not be able to reach me.  They never showed.  I had a friend call on my behalf and was told many things:  they would be there; they had left multiple text messages on my cell phone (which of course I could not receive) and sent multiple e-mails.  At 7:00 p.m. I left the house to go where I could get cell coverage and make a call.  I called an agent and was told the email on file was incorrect; the agent who set up the appt put the letters AT (like @) in my email so my email read [email protected].  I was told this would be corrected on Sunday.  On Sunday morning (7/14), I again asked a friend to call on my behalf and he was told I would have someone here by 1:00.  To make matters worse, yesterday, the day of the original service, a service person called my cell looking for directions.  I called him back and texted him but once I was back at the house, I could get no incoming cell texts or calls.  I feel Verizon customer service is so very disjointed.  I also believe customer service reps tell you anything to appease you and get you off the phone.  The website is riddled with problems in connecting to a solution.  Just today I got a message that I 'should contact my supervisor".  ARE YOU KIDDING????  I have an existing order at my primary home to install FIOS on 7/26.  I will most likely cancel this order, cancel my cell service when my contract is up and cancel the service at my second home once I secure a viable replacement.  The problem is there is limited service here and Verizon knows this.  I feel very cheated and appauled at the lack of customer care shown.  I don't blame the individuals I spoke with; I blame Verizon management (hardly an appropriate word to use).  I have spent an entire weekend trapped by Verizon with nothing to show for it.  Consumers need to start speaking up and putting lousy companies out of business once and for all.

    Love your statement!  I am with you for a call to action 100%!
    Landline may be expensive for the company; but, are we not paying
    for this service?
    Landline service is still required in numerous areas
    and it is more secure than FIOS (still in its infancy).  As stated by
    many customers....mobile phones are the most unreliable for
    emergencies (gray areas will cause dropped calls to no access).
    For customers who have home security systems, medical systems.
    Does it work with FIOS?
