WAS 620 post -installation problem
Hi,
We have installed WAS 620/WIN2K/SAP DB 7.3.1 with both the ABAP and the J2EE stack. After that, we did the client copy & were importing support packages for basis. We applied till support package 25 successfully. While applying 26, the system restarted.
After bringing up the system, when we start SAP, all the workprocesses are in connect mode. The dev traces say:
"Try to connect (DEFAULT) on connection 0...." and nothing further. The dispatcher indicator is yellow.
We check db and found it is ok (state: WARM). No errors in knldiag too.
On executing dpmon, all workprocesses having status Run but no other information. No logon to SAP possible.
Did any of you encounter anything similar. Any directions or inputs would be most helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Siva
Siva,
Did you resolve this issue? How?
Thanks
Tim

Oracle 8.0.5 Post Installation Problem
Hi all,
I have installed Oracle 8.0.5.1 is installed on my RH 6.0 box.
However, I am running into a couple of post-installation
problems.
1. root.sh (sucessfully ran).
2. glibc patch (successfuly ran). There were a few errors on the
screen with the "mv" commands (file does not exist). Is tha
alright?
3. catrep.sql (problem). This is where I have a problem.
I ran dbstart as oracle805 (installation account), but I have no
idea whether or not I really started the database. ps -aux did
not yield any clue.
I also tried svrmgrl and "startup", but the file "initXXX.ora"
did not exist, so I copied the existing "init.ora" to
"initXXX.ora". XXX is my ORACLE_SID. Instead alert_XXX.log gave
me the following:
ORA-00202: controlfile: 'ora_control1'
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
So, in other words, I have no idea whether or not I have
successfully installed Oracle. All insights are greatly
appreciated.
Thanks a bunch...

SunilHi,
Now i am getting another problem.
While testing SLDCHECK i am getting exception while calling function LCR_LIST_BUSINESS_SYSTEMS.
Please find the detail below.
Testing the RFC connection to the SLD java client...
RFC ping was successful
SLD server access settings:
host name: XIMAC
port number: 50000
user : XIAPPLUSER
Use transaction SLDAPICUST if you wish to maintain the SLD server access data
Launching the SLD GUI in a separate browser window...
=> Verify in the browser GUI that the SLD is in a healthy running state!
Calling function LCR_LIST_BUSINESS_SYSTEMS
Retrieving data from the SLD server...
Function call returned exception code 3
=> Check whether the SLD is running!
Summary: Connection to SLD does not work
=> Check SLD function and configurations
Now checking access to the XI Profile
any guess to solve this problem.

Application Express 3.2.1 post installation problem
I upgraded Oracle database XE with Application Express 3.2.1
The installation was succesfull. The logfiles contains the text: Thank you for installing ... etc
The post installation tasks give me some problems. As I upgraded from Oracle Database XE, I am using the 10.g version. That is correct?
That means I cannot use the embedded PL/SQL gateway, foir this works only with version 11g. So I must configer the Oracle HTTP server and mod_plsql. That is correct?
After installation I am supposed to copy the image directory in the ORACLE_HTTPSERVER_HOME \Apache directory
I have no idea where that directory is. A search on my C: drive returns no results.
How can I find the ORACLE_HTTPSERVER_HOME \Apache directory?
Any help is welcome
HansHi,
Oracle XE comes with EPG even it is 10g
This might help
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.2_and_xe.html
If you install was ok then you need just update images and set/reset Apex admin password
# Connect to SQL*Plus as SYS
# @APEX_HOME/apex/apxldimg.sql APEX_HOME
# @APEX_HOME/apex/apxxepwd.sql password
For the steps above, APEX_HOME is the directory where the Application Express software was unzipped.

Beehive post-Installation problem
Hi, I'm istalling Oracle Beehive 2.1.0.0 in a Oracle Linux 5.
First I installed Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production, then guided by I installed Oracle Beehive, I followed the post-installation procedures http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16671_01/bh.200/e16641/what_you_need_to_know.htm#BIJGGFJH, in the first step (Oracle Beehive Database Post-Installation Procedures - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16671_01/bh.200/e16641/db_post.htm#BHAJIEID) I make correctly (at least) the first two steps, in the third one no error show but if I check configuration with the “list_bootstrap_configuration” command what I see is that the desired password is in the schema name field.
After this, I can only use some of the commands, for example with activate_configuration or list_ports I receive:
beectl: command failed. See the log file "/u01/app/beehive/product/2.0.1.0.0/beehive_1/beehive/logs/beectl/2012.06.15/beectl_shell_17_06_04+0300.txt" for more details.

Even if I try to clear the data given in previous steps with “clear_proposed_configuration” command I received the error.
I checked and there are 6 patches, but it seems none of them fix the problem, althought I couldn’t find from where to download. Also In the contents of the installation of Beehive, one point (out of the installation against database) it’s about installing Oracle Beekeaper, maybe that will help, but as far as I know it’s only a UI for Beehive.
(http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16671_01/bh.200/e16649/beectl.htm#list_bootstrap_configuration here is the documentation about beectl)
Maybe the problem is that I'm installing in a 64 bits and documentation of Beehive says that only 32 bits is supported, but I needed to try because our client machine is a 64bit Linux .. any other suggestion?for Instant Messaging, I believe you need to review Chapter 25 (Configuring XMPP) of the Installation Guide.
At least you need to do a
beectl modify_property --component _XmppService name DomainNames value <domain>
beectl activate_configuration
beectl restart --component BEEAPP_<instance>.<host>
For any user partaking in IM, you need to define an IM Address, as this is needed to provision the user to the XMPP Service.
If you master your user in an external directory, you can map existing mail addresses to also be used as IM Address, e.g.
<directory_attribute_map_entry>
<source_object>ENTERPRISE_USER</source_object>
<AttributeMap>
<Field>
<source_attribute>mail</source_attribute>
<target_attribute>BUSINESS</target_attribute>
<target_extended_attribute>IM</target_extended_attribute>
<target_attribute_type>ADDRESS</target_attribute_type>

WAS Sneak Preview Installation problem???
Hi,
I was successful in installing the WAS sneak preview installation from sdn.but since I had problems in using sdm password for deploying webdynpro I uninstalled the entire setup of sneak preview.
Again when I tried to install sneal preview,it is stopping at 17th phase of 28 for a long time. The phase is "Load Java Database content".Neither it is giving any error in log file nor moving forward to next step for more than 2 -3 hours.
Has anybody encountered this problem earlier?
Useful answers will be suitably rewarded.
Regards,
RKHi,
it could very well be that your LOG volume is filled 100%. Please check your (<drive>:\sapdb\data\wrk\<SID>\)knldiag and/or knldiag.err file for LOGFULL messages.
In order to free up log, you need to make a Log backup. Prior to your first Log backup, you need to have made a Data backup.
So, if you haven't done any of the above previously, you would need to:
1. define backupmedia for both Log and Data backups
2. perform a data backup using the data backupmedium created in step 1
3. perform a log backup using the log backupmedium created in step 1
Afterwards, you could also create an Autolog backupmedium and switch on the Autologging feature, it would save the log automatically from filling to that degree.
All done conveniently using the Database Manager GUI.

AtanuHi Hussein :

Under $APPL_TOP I see the following .env files : APPSORA, APPSVIS_oel5, VIS_oel5 and VIS; none of them having permission to run. NW2004s SR2 PI (XI) -- Post installation problem
Hi,
I have installed NW2004s SR2. I have installed solu manager on one server and PI on another server. solu manag server is central sld and PI as local sld.
can i have solu manger landscape as central SLD and PI box as local SLD or do i need to do viceversa.
How to perform the post installation ? shld i need to perform NWA option first or PI option first in the template post installation procedure
plz guide me in this issue and help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
k s reddySrinivas,
You can use a Central SLD or a PI box also as a local SLD. This completely depends upon your requirements and landscape of your company.
If you want only to install PI then you need to the post installation steps for PI. You dont need to do the post installation steps for NWA.

[SOLVED] Several post installation problems
Hello all,
I have just installed Arch on my Lenovo laptop. Installation was successfull but since I've been having all kinds of problems.
- I get a message at boot that says "Failed to mount /dev/sda6" which is normally mounted as /
- Despite the above the system boots at emergency mode asking me give root password for maintenance (Ctrl+D does not change anything) after which it automatically logs me in as root.
- I have installed KDE but I can't get it to start at login. I have to su as a simple user and start it with startx. KDE starts but when I logout I get scrambled text at screen which barely reads "Give root password for maintenance" (the same as at the beginning). Afterwards I tried to re-enable and restart kdm in order to make it start at boot. Now when I login to KDE it freezes from the beginning. Freezes completely. I have to shutdown the laptop with the hardware button.
They seem as different problems but I feel it's part of the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance

I don't think you have either of those kernels... as they don't exist. I assume you meant that you are using 3.10.5 and supposedly have 3.10.6 installed. You issue is a bit of a catch 22, as you are unable to mount the ESP (no vfat module matching your running kernel), yet mounting the ESP would be required in order to properly udpate. I imagine that you actually have the correct kernel as /boot/vmlinuz-linux. But whatever mechanism you use to copy it from that location to the ESP didn't work.
You are going to have to boot from live media, and fix this from a chroot. Please search around for how to do this, as this information is all over the place.
Looks like I'm in for a treat. I chroot-ed, did a full upgrade in case there was an even newer kernel (and there was, 3.10.7). After the upgrade I copied /boot/vmlinuz-linux, /boot/initramfs-linux.img and /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img to /boot/efi/EFI/arch/ renaming the files vmlinuz-arch.efi, initramfs-arch.img, initramfs-arch-fallback.img respectively. I unmounted everything and rebooted. Now reFINd freezes as soon as it tries to boot Arch. -

There is no error found here in the log file.
Does it give you an error message while installation (at 2nd last step) or is it that it just doesnt go ahead?
I believe it is taking sometime to start the server. Can you do one thing, can you just look into the management console and see which elements are running there?
I had this problem, but then i just waited for the server to start and then i restarted the sapinst.exe and it worked.
Do not start sapinst.exe untill the J2EE Server starts completely. Check it in the Management consile before you start the installation. If you restart the computer and check it after sometime, you will find all the processes running, then you can continue with the installation. I am sure this should solve your problem.

Bootcamp Post Installation Problems
Help!
I was installing Bootcamp, and all seemed fine. Install "ended," then a note came up saying the computer was going to restart and before doing so, to remove any disk in the drive (which I was unable to do so given there was no option to eject). So, I simply let the system re-start, but on the next re-start, the Windows XP installer started all over again, requiring me to re-install XP over the Bootcamp partition. So, I tried doing it again, but the same thing happened.
With help from web access on my iPhone, I saw I could hold the OPTION button down during a hard system re-start. I tried selecting a system start via "Windows," but "System Error" came up asking me to insert a disk, but the screen froze, and I had to hard-restart again; this time, after holding the OPTION key down, I selected the MAC operating system, and I thankfully got to the desktop of my Mac (running Leopard).
I un-installed Bootcamp (Bootcamp utility over-wrote the Windows partition from the bad install). And thinkiing everything would now be fine, I re-started the computer (and every time since) get a windows-type error screen on restart that says Boot System Failure, Insert Boot Disk; something to that effect.
I hard re-start MacBook Pro, holding down the Option key, only the Mac OS is available to boot up, I select that, get to the desktop and all seems ok, but I know if I ever shut down the computer and re-start (without holding down Option and selecting the Mac hard drive) I'll run into the same issue.
Ideally, I'd like to get XP loaded (for a work application I cant run on Mac), but at this point, I'm desperately trying to figure out how to fix the start up issues.
Please, help. Thank you!Hi
In System Preferences>Startup Disk, have you reselected your Mac OS X partition? This may stop you froom having to use Option each time you start up.

Weblogic 6 Post Installation Problem - weblogic.Server not found
I reinstalled my recent downloads of the evaluation

My suspicion: weblogic .jar is corrupt.

I have enclosed the command prompt messages.

10.4.3 Post Installation Problem
I have upgraded to 10.4.3 on my G4 Titanium laptop, from the installation disc, and the installation seemed to go fine. However, the hard drive icon does not appear on the desktop and nothing happens when I click finder in the dock. Although, clicking the other doc icons opens their respective apps with no problems (except for dashboard which opens but doesn't seem to connect to the internet). What's going on here? Any thoughts?
Do the following:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.0.6 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Then re-apply the 10.4.3 Combo Updater. Assuming your system wasn't corrupted badly this may get you back to normal.
