    Hi Malisetti,
    This look like a problem with the installation target, seems like somehow the installation can't find or deal with the mounted volumne.
    Are you trying to install WAS in an external device/storage?
    Hope this help!

  • Problem installing Database Instance of WAS 640

    Help,
    I am installing the WAS 640 SR1  on a sandbox running Windows 2003 Server.
    I've installed Oracle.
    Installed the Central Instance.
    But when I try to install the database instance with SAPInst, it gets to the stage:
    Prepare Oracle Network Configuration
    It then copies the Listener.ora and creates a new file Listener.1.ora
    Then the installation fails with the message:
    Unable to set time for file listener.1.ora
    Does anyone know how to solve this and continue the installation ?
    Thanks,
    Tomas.

    Hi Tomas,
    Firstly check that you are full administrator of the OS and check the following policy privileges are assigned to your user:
    Act as part of the operating system
    Increase quotas
    Replace a process level token
    Do this via:
    Navigate to the security policy console via:
    Start Menu>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative tools>Local Security Policy
    In the window for the Local Security Policy you will find each of the following policy above.
    Double click on each of the items listed & click the button “Add User or Group”. In the next window enter the username that you are performing the installation with and apply.
    If still the problem occurs "Take ownership" of the file system using the account that you are logged in with.
    This should get you past the problem
    Cheers
    Daniel

  • Java parameters for WAS 640 on unix

    Does anyone have a solid set of WAS 640 java parameters for the server on Solaris. Can't seem to get the engine stable and I have changed java params according to SAP note for Sun jdk but still no luck.
    max heap,
    Permsize etc etc.....
    Thanks
    John

    Hi,
    I hope the answer given was helping... If yes, please consider awarding points and mark the question as answered. If no, please come back to give feedback why the hint did not bring you foward. This not only for being polite against me, but also for others running into the same issue to get feedback if they should go the way given in the answer or where else a solution could be found.
    Thanks in advance

  • Upgrade sequence WAS 640 SP3 unix

    Can I upgrade to SP9 after I have installed Portal SP3?
    If I can't upgrade to SP9 after installing portal, can I simply delete the intance under usr/sap/JC00, upgrade WAS 640 to sp9 and then reinstall portal?
    Thanks
    John

    Hello John, I do not think deleting the portal will be necessary.  I am in the process of upgrading the portal now (currently upgrading the WEB AS to SP9).  All be it, I am doing it on Windows 2000MSSQL Server but I think it should be fairly the same.  Here's the process we kind of worked out in another thread,
    /community [original link is broken]
    1) Install Web AS 6.30 SP3
    2) Upgrade Web AS 6.30 to SP9
    3) Install EP 6.0 SP3
    4) Upgrade EP 6.0 SP3 to SP9
    5) Follow Directions in note 720298
    5) Install KMC 6.0 SP4
    6) Upgrade KMC 6.0 SP4 to SP9
    I will keep you posted on how everything went.

    Hello Masters,
    I am in process of applying Patch 16 to my BW 3.5 WAS 640 ABAP+JAVA systems.  I have successfully applied ABAP patch level to 16.  Now I am applying to J2EE Patch 16 to system. Hello Digesh,
    The firt thing please go to os level prompt for <SID>adm user and type echo $JAVA_HOME. What is the value that is reflected after issuing the above.
    Also please check that your SAP-J2EE instance is running properly or not.
    The JCE is used for Weak and strong encryption.
    Also please check the instance.properties file. Does it contain proper parameter as per your SAP installation.

  • Perform an export for both ABAP & JAVA in one shot with WAS 640 SAPinst ...

    Hello,
    I have to perform an OS/DB Migration of a SAP XI 3.0 (WAS640-SR1), an ABAP + JAVA addin configuration.
    I would like to know if SAPinst for WAS640 (and SR1) could perform an export for both ABAP & JAVA in one shot as it seems possible in NW7.0 SAPinst version. None of the WAS 640 OS/DB migration guides gives these possibility.
    And if not not, could U confirm that I have to perform 1st an export (with R3LOAD) of ABAB stack, then  an export (with JLOAD) of the JAVA one ?
    And apply the same way for installation with R3load and JLOAD downloaded files ?
    Thks in advance
    Bernard Accoce
    SAP Basis Consultant - TeamWork in Toulouse (France)

    Hi Bernard,
    No, both exports cannot be executed in one single step. You have to execute the procedure twice, once for ABAP and once for Java, like you already mentioned yourself..
    For the import applies the same.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eduardo,
    if its not in there its not supported.
    I made the experience that it somethimes work installing a BO product on a not supported UNIX OS. But that was mainly BOE not DS.
    Maybe you can install DS on open Solaris but you wont get support for it.
    If you really need to know when or if open solaris is supported than i would suggest you raise a Support MEssage at SAP.
    Regards

    Hi,
    SAP profiles are stored in a special file directory. UNIX systems : /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile
    Windows NT systems: \<SAPGLOBALHOST>\sapmnt\<SID>\sys\profile\
    ( <SID> = SAP system name and <SAPGLOBALHOST> = name of the NT machine on which the global profile directory is physically located)
    The startsap script is generally present in the home directory of the UNIX user <sid>adm where SID is the SAP system name.

  • How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?

    Hi there,
    How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?
    I've read the install guide
    and it mentions
    3. Start the installer by entering the following at the prompt:
    cd mount_point
    ./runInstaller
    I don't have access to any graphical interface on the UNIX box e.g. x-windows nor any cd with the software, just the solaris software downloaded from web - does this include the runinstaller
    and is the runisnatller just a command line interface?
    I hoped I would be able to download the software from oracle website and then simply run the a setup scrip?
    Is it possible to do this? Would I simply substitute cd mount_point to cd <directory I put software)
    I've never ran oracle universall installer on UNIX before.
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
    You can install the server-side software from the downloaded software.
    You don't need the CD
    You do need an X-windows client on your computer to connect to the server OR work directly on the server.
    Without X-windows you cannot start the Oracle Universal Installer.
    Maybe there is a command line installation, I have never used this.
    I hope this helps.

  • ERP 6.0 EHP4 SR1 Upgrade Unix Oracle issue with /STARTUP

    We are in the process of doing an ERP 6.0 EHP4 SR1 Upgrade Unix Oracle Upgrade.  We have ran into a problem running the /STARTUP, we are using the Upgrade Master DVD 51036889 as well as have down loaded it from service market place and jce_policy-1_5_0.zip as well as the one on SAP service market place.  When we execute the command   /STARTUP jce_policy_zip=jce_policy-1_5_0.zip the job starts and runs down to where the controller for port 4241 starts and then hangs.  If we control C out and go to the /usr/sap/SID/upg and run /STARTUP  it runs all the way through setting up both 4241 controller and 4239 controller, we then go to the web browser and launch the Gui => logon as administrator => upgrade roadmap screen pops up it is set on the initialization phase we hit next and nothing happens after that, we don't get the ABAP tab or the progress bar.  We would appreciate any help.

    Hi Jerry,
    The first time you run STARTUP its run from the NW7 EHP1 SR1 DVD. Just wanted to confirm that your running it from this DVD. This extracts and setups your /usr/sap/<SID>/upg directory. It sounds like this directory hasn't been setup correctly which is why your not seeing anything when you login to the GUI.
    Can you confirm that you got your JCE files from SWDC -> SAP Cryptograpic Software ?
    OSS Note - 1240081
    http://service.sap.com/swdc > Download > SAP Cryptographic Software
    I had to use the JCE file from here to get my upgrade to work. What OS are you on?
    Hope this helps.

    i don´t know exactly what to do now? should i edit the xml file or what can be done?
    or am i wrong with my assumption, that the system´s reference to the group isn´t valid?

    Hi,
    i had the same problem too.
    Actually i'm installing the "Sneak Preview SAP NetWeaver 2004 Slim Edition (Java)" on Windows 2003 DomainController. In this case the relevant settings are stored in "<Location_Of_SAPINST.EXE>\ADA\control.xml", which is being copied to "<SAPINST_INSTDIR>\j2ee_wp\installdefault\" during installation.
    Before i started a new installation i searched the original "control.xml" for String "LocalAdmin".
    I replaced:
    'name:<u>host</u> + "
    SAP_LocalAdmin"'
    with
    'name:<u>this.getDomain()</u> + "
    SAP_LocalAdmin"'
    and
    'name:<u>host</u> + "
    SAP_" + this.getSID() + "_LocalAdmin"'
    with
    'name:<u>this.getDomain()</u> + "
    SAP_" + this.getSID() + "_LocalAdmin"'
    The installation is still running at the moment, but far behind that point where the error always came up.
    For me it looks very good.
    SAP says installation on a DC is not supported, which not means that it would be impossible.
    Remember to edit the "control.xml" at it's original location BEFORE you start the installation.
    Good luck,
    Philipp Kammerer

  • File comparaison works on win32, not on unix solaris

    Hi all!
    I have the following code comparing 2 files. It works on win2000 but doesnt work on unix solaris.
         private boolean fichierIdentiqueBytePourByte( InputStream in1, InputStream in2 ) throws IOException{
              int a = 0, b = 0;
              while(true){
                // read next byte from both stream
                a = in1.read();
                b = in2.read();
                // if its different then files are different and we are done
                if (a!=b) return false;
                // if both are at eof then all checked must be the same
                if (a==-1&&b==-1) return true;
                // if either are at eof then they are different sizes
                if (a==-1||b==-1) return false;
         }any ideas of what the problem might be?
    Thanks

    ThanksWell, from your code, you only have two traits that this depends on to work--comparing int's and EOF. You have hard coded a -1 for EOF into this, I am not completely familiar with EOF condition on different platforms, but I know int's compare without error on every platform. Do a debug and a breakpoint set to stop just before you think you're going to get an EOF and I think you'll see, that the EOF you are using is the actual problem.
