Was able to get infinity but now can't?

I have been checking the BT website for a while now since Sky bought O2 (my current provider). It has always confirmed that I was able to get Infinity 2. Even last week when I almost completed the order but cancelled at the final step as I had only just received my MAC code (and apparently I could not use it for seven days otherwise I would be charged). It was all good news you can get Infiinity 2.
But now, went to order tonight and now I cannot get it. The openreach website shows all the surrounding exchanges are accepting orders. My neighbour (two doors away) who is an openreach engineer has confirmed that he has it and that both our telephone lines share the same cabinet. Thanks to my neighbour I know that my cabinet has been upgraded. I can even follow both our telephone lines to the same cabinet (we still have telegraph poles) and the cabinet is 50 metres away. So what has happened?
Sabotage by Sky (joking) or just bad planning from BT and too many people signed up for BT Sports??
Trouble is it now means that I am severely tempted by the offer that Sky is trying to intice me with of free broadband and Sky Entertainment plus for a year but it means that I will have to transfer my phone to them and I am just not keen on moving wholesale to Sky.
Just to confirm that my telephone line has always been with BT and has never been transferred to another service provdier.

I'm afraid it probably means that the cabinet has reached its capacity for FTTC users. If lots more people want it they may and extra capacity but not for some time.
Probably worth trying every few days for a bit in case there was a mistake, or someone cancels.
You could also see what happens if you try an order with PlusNet or similar. You'll probably get the same result; all the FTTC ISP's share the BT Openreach cabient resources; first come first served.

I've recently moved house and reluctantly said good bye to really fast and reliable net from virgin. However, before moving I checked to ensure I would be able to get at least some kind of fast internet. And yes I was, I could get upto 76mbps from bt infinity. Which is fine, before we went through with the offer on he house I asked the occupants what internet they had, and they said bt infinity and upto 76mbps. So great I thought, I can get decent internet.
I should probably say at this point that my wife requires a good internet connection for work and I love streaming films and gaming etc. so fast internet is important to us.
So I ordered my bt infinity to be installed the day after I moved in... 5th of April. An engineer was arranged to come out and set it all up for us. The 5th came and went, so I checked my online status, apparently I didn't need an engineer and could set it up myself. So I dully tried with no success, however before I could phone bt, they called me saying there was a technical fault at the cabinet, and it would take a couple of days to sort out. Ok fair enough.
So after a couple of days bt phoned and said they were still having problems with the line. And it would be another couple of days. Sigh... But ok.
Then I heard nothing, so phoned back and apparently my order was cancelled, so after much a do I had to reorder my infinity, for some unknown reason. And was told it would all be up and running in a couple of days. They were just performing speed tests, and then it would all be good.
So two days later still no internet nor engineer to set me up. So I phoned again, and they said "ah, there was a technical fault with their system" and it cancelled my order again! "We are working to resolve this issue in 6 days, we will get it sorted and I guarantee that it will be working at the end of that time".I was getting a bit angry now almost 2 weeks being in without internet for my wife to work! But I was assured it would be working.
So we come to today, 23rd of April. I received a missed call, a text and an email from bt asking that I contact them. So I did, and I was told that the order had been cancelled yet again. Now I was rather unhappy! And wanted to know exactly why it was getting cancelled, so they looked into it, and I have been told, that infinity is not available in my area!
Now I don't get angry very easily. But this took the biscuit, I am fuming. And demanded to know how It could not be available now, when I was told a month ago that I could get it, the previous occupants of my new house had it and many other people in the street have it.
To this they said I have been switched exchanges? ????!! And my exchange isn't fibre ready.
So I looked into that, and of course my exchange is fibre ready according to btopen reach, and not to mention my house used to have infinity.
I am at a complete loss as to what to do now? I have been offered regular broadband of 2mb, which I have not had to endure for over 14 years!
How is this possible? Does bt have a fault with their system or am I just the centre of some social experiment?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I said my wife requires decent internet for work, currently I am using my phone as a hotspot, so not ideal.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

I am having trouible with Pogo/Java. I was able to play games but now it says I have a problem. I can use Internet Explorer but it is so slow. Why can't I use Firefox anymore.

HT1369 Since we updated our Itunes to 10.7 we've had nothing but problems, first we lost all our music (luckily I was able to recover it) but now it won't find my phone when I plug it in. Has anyone else had this issue?

Has anyone out there been having any problems with Itunes since updating Itunes. First it lost all our music (which I recovered), now it won't find my phone when I plug it in.

I hate to say it, but Apple is literally infamous for teething problems on new releases. It's usually fixed in two days, though that fix usually gets fixed, too, so sometimes a week, but does means downloading new updates.
My (experienced) advice? Wait a couple of days, check for updates, try again. Pray (or whatever works for you) that you don't have the "lost Apple Device Driver" problem several people are having.
I keep an older version of iTunes installer on a backup drive (or just in my downloads folder), just for such events. Worst-case, I've always been able to uninstall iTunes (including driver and user info), then install my old version of iTunes and roll on. Yes, my iTunes folder is on an external hard drive, so I can move it around to my different computers, and then keep a backup of that hard drive on a second external hard drive. Saves me a ton of headaches.

i wasn't sure if this was the right thread to put this in but if isn't, please move it to the appropriate one.
i'll try my best to explain my problem. from what has happened just now to the possibilities as to what may have caused it to happen.
i only got this video ipod less than 3 weeks ago and just two days ago i was browsing through my songs (while a song was still playing) when it suddenly froze. so i left it and when i got home and turned it back on, battery was low.
til now, i have done nothing. not even dropped it. been very careful but here come the problem i'm having currently.
i wanted to sync more movies that were downloaded onto the ipod but stupid me decided to delete all the movies i had on there already and start again. they're gone now but i've tried putting them back on by dragging them to itunes .. they go to the movies section and i go to sync them. i wait and when it says 'sync complete' i go to check if they've synced properly and to my surprise they're not there.
i've done this more than 5 times now and nothing at all.
have i done something wrong? i've tried repairing and updating itunes cuz i thought that may have been the problem but i'm not entirely sure.
help appreciated.

i thought i'd give it a night's rest and deal with it the next day.
only when i tried to connect it to the computer to try again, it said something along the lines of 'application not recognised' so i'm not sure what's going on there.
as well as that, it froze while on the ipod screen it said 'do not disconnect' and it's still like that.
i'll have to wait til it runs out of battery to try again. if it continues on like this, i'll have to go to the itunes store and see what can be done about it cuz it's the second time it's frozen on me and in the two weeks of using it (since i purchased it) i haven't dropped it nor has it been damaged in any way.

Hard Drive was replaced, but now can't get Apple Backup to restore data

My iMac had a damaged hard drive, so I replaced it and reinstalled Mac OS 10.4, along with iLife 06. My iMac is now up and running again (prior to hard drive replacement it froze and was then unable to get up and running again without repeated attempts at powering down and then up).
Here's my problem. Prior to the replacement, I'd been using Apple's Backup program to backup all my iPhoto and iTunes files to an external harddrive. The files are on the external harddrive, but when I use Backup to restore them, the opened and allegedly restored files have no data in them. (I've been using "restore to alternate location" and putting the restored data in a shared folder on the iMac. Backup runs, and says the data is in this shared folder, but when I go to import data from them, they are empty.)
Fortunately, I did a wholesale copy of my old desktop to my external hard drive in July when it became clear I'd have to replace hard drive, so I was able to get most of my photo and music files restored from that. But from July to October, I used Backup exclusively to save new pictures or music and now I can't find a way to get that data restored (short of trying to pull off the old damaged harddrive).
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the CD-ROM drive must be jumpered as Master in order for it to be bootable.
Your G4 (PCI) should have two built-in IDE buses - one is usually assigned to the CD-ROM and Zip drives, and the other is used for hard drives. If you have the hard drive connected to the same bus as the one the CD-ROM is on, try switching the hard drive to the other bus.
Set the hard drive's jumpers as Master.
Exception - if the hard drive is a Western Digital, it may have a third position, Single, which must be used when the drive is the only device on the bus.
Note - Cable Select jumper settings will not work on a G4 (PCI).

Startup Manager, which is what booting with Option held down invokes, is not available on a G4 (PCI).

Firewire Target Disk Mode is limited on a G4 (PCI) - it can be the Host machine, but not the Target machine.
