was downloading the new software update on my iPhone when it froze and has been in that state for more then 15 hours.
tried turning it off didn't work. tried pressing buttons didn't work.
tried unplugging it and waiting for the power to die hasn't worked
tried the steps on the webiste but they didn't work
tried working it from the laptop doesn't connect because i can't put in the passcode.
also tried calling iTunes support but due to the holiday no one is answering
what can i do i need my phone!!!

i was able to access the phone by pressing down on the off button and home at the same time

My iMac seems to have frozen during the update- how long should I expect the update to take? The 'installing software update' bar is still showing itself working but has been stuck in the same position for over an hour. Any thoughts?
Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:

Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery. -

Then that is what you need to do.
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer
iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
Then...
1) Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Hi, thank you for helping me! Every time I plug it into the USB port of my computer, there is an image on my iPod touch that shows a USB cord and tells me to plug it into iTunes, but it is completely unresponsive. I have tried holding the home and power buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds, and that does not do anything either. Any ideas? Thank you so much!
Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?
Try manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then try to restore
Next try DFU mode.

You can also try another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem. -
My wife and I both have iphone 4, While messaging, the message is posted on both phones, when only 1 was chosen. Today I received a message from a buddy and my wife also received the message. Any thoughts. I have reset my settings.
On your wifes phone go to settings - message - send&receive - remove or uncheck the apple id.

MS Word is not an Apple product so it could not've downloaded with all the Apple software updates.

What program were you running to do that?
In any case boot from your OS installer disk and run Repair Disk from Disk Uility. -
I just downloaded a new software update to my ipod touch and now the ipod and screen are frozen. I received a message that the download was not successful and now my screen is showing the blue round itunes symbol with an arrow pointing to the symbol and shows a cable below it. I have tried the restart of pushing the two buttons together and waiting 10 seconds for the apple symbol which appears and then go backs to the same stuck symbol. No. The problem is that when you changed Apple IDs you did not update your Apple ID to reflect the change, so your phone is still associated with the old ID. You will need to un-associate it. The process is the same as what you would do if you sold the phone. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661

I guess the title says it all. So am i correct that I will need to wipe my phone and loose all my contacts that I have spent years accumulating along with all my other data? There were no passwords on this phone before downloaded the updated operating system. This makes no sense. Find my phone is very sporatic with this new operating system. Jumps back and forth between phones on its own. I am so frustrated with Apple!

No it didn't. You did, whether you realize it or not. Restrictions can only be enabled by user interaction. They don't just turn on by themselves.

Why do'nt you just restore the latest backup that was made prior to you applying the update? Problem solved? -
I just got a notice to update my firefox to 4.0 and when I downloaded the new software it indicated: that I can't open the application "Firefox" because it is not supported on this architecture. Any ideas about what might be wrong and how to fix it?
