Was I just hit by phishing?

I submitted a question to apple support earlier and got what seemed like a response from a rep a bit later.  In it the rep told me to click on https://phobos.apple.com/accountSummary to get at my account information.  I did so and got some security warnings and a messages saying it was going to open itunes with https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/accountSummary.  After it did a login window popped up in itunes asking for my account and password, and even though I entered it correctly it just kept acting as if I was getting the password wrong?
Was I just phished or no?

No, you were not phished. Those are legitimate Apple URLs, and no one can phish using iTunes so the account login popup in iTunes itself will always be genuine.
That said, though, it's usually unwise to click any link in any email message that will in any way ask for account information. It's always best to type in the URL, or in the case of an iTunes Store issue log in directly from iTunes. You can't always presume that the URL shown in an email is the one clicking on the link will actually take you to.
If you are unable to log into your iTunes Store account using your expected Apple ID and password, then either you're not typing the correct information or something has happened to lock your account. If you are certain that your ID and password are correct, try going here:
https://iforgot.apple.com
and reset your password and try again (and no, you shouldn't just click on that link either; type it in. Someone could fake an Apple URL in these forums as well).

    I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your data. It sounds like you need to sign into your own Apple ID again on the iPad, then download your previously purchased iPad apps again. We have an article on how to do exactly this, and it can be found right here:

    Also, you may want to consider signing up for a free iCloud account and turning on automatic backups. This will allow you to back up your iPad in the background and without connecting to a computer, so that this issue of data loss will be minimized if this sort of issue ever happens again:

  • Why do I have to click the go button after typing a URL? Before FF6 I could just hit enter.

    I just recently updated to Firefox 6. Before the update, I was able to type a address into the URL bar and hit return. Nice and easy. Now if I do this I get no response. To direct to a web page I have to move my cursor to click the go button. It's annoying and a waste of time. What happened here? Any way I can change things so I can just hit enter again?

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4+ you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings If yu can see the screen enough to do it)
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you have a hardware problem.

    Yes, if they were purchased from iTunes.  If they were CD's you copied to your iTunes library, then synced to your iPad, you may be forced to redownload the CDs again.
    Connect your iPad to your computer via USB and with iTunes open wait for your iPad to recognized on the left side of the iTunes screen.  Right click your iPad once and a dialog box will apear.  Choose Transfer Purchases and the music apps, etc., you purchased will transfer to your iTunes library on your computer.

    Hi again Jen,
    Most internet providers utilize "dhcp" -- you might want to check to see if your extreme is set to that function.
    If you want to try, you need to go into airport utility and select MANUAL setup/ then click NETWORK button on top of the window. /select TCP/IP -- make sure that you see "Using DHCP" not MANUAL in the configuration window.  If you do see using  dhcp, click the renew dhcp lease button.  Then you'd have to do the power down/up cycle again.  If all this doesn't work, you can do a hard reset on your Extreme, which will bring it back to the way it came out of the box, then go through the same proccess that was used to set it up originally.

    Music is not included in the backup (and nor are films or tv shows), only the contents of third-party apps are included. Did you not do File > Transfer Purchases when connected to your computer's iTunes to copy your iTunes purchases over, and/or have you not got a backup copy of your music somewhere e.g. on an external drive ?

    Please do not post questions more than once. It makes it difficult for you as well as those who will try to answer. I don't have an answer for you. However:
    What operating system?
    What version of Lightroom?
    How much RAM?
    Did you install anything new?
    What version of Camera Raw are using in Photoshop CS5?
    If you can provide more details, it might make it easier for someone to provide you with an answer.

  • Set save-as-pdf as a default action ("just hit Enter") in print-dialog (w/out Adobe PDF)

    The problem is clear: i don't print on paper
    ...instead, i just save documents as PDFs and send them over email.
    But it takes waaay too many clicks to get to that sub-menu-button-item on a regular basis.
    So just like with any other modal dialog i would prefer to just hit Enter and be done with that.
    And for that i aprntly need a “Save to PDF” option set up as a printer, so it would be always a default choice.
    I know Adobe Acrobat installs “Adobe PDF” as a printer, so it it's doable, but it costs money and i don't acly need any extra apps if PDFs are supported by the OSX itself. So strike that.
    Please, how else can i make it happen?

    Pixma was working just fine until I replaced 3 of the ink cartidges.  Now it only prints blank pages.  It does the same thing from my computer as from the printer itself.  Also passes the device maintenance tests, including all the colors and the alignment.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Have you tried another cable?
    Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
    Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer                            
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why is windows 7 not recognizing my iphone? It was working just fine before!

    It was working just fine before. Today I plug it in and nothing happens, it doesn't charge from my laptop, or recognize it.  At one point it installed the drivers again and it worked for like 2 minutes but then it went back to nothing! It was going to do the update but then it said something about my purchases and transfering first so I cancelled the update and then the iphone stopped working on the laptop.

    Tried that already and nothing I'm still looking up solutions but nothing has worked so far.  I repaired the latest iTunes installer and nothing.
