Was my computer hacked into?

I was away from my computer for several hours while there was a party at my house. When I came back, my computer had restarted which I thought was odd. I looked at the time and it was the current time. Normally, it states the last time that I was using the computer. I went into the console and looked at times and saw that it had been accessed or maybe not. It was not normal. Can anyone tell me what went on with my computer? Did someone break into my computer. I've copied and pasted from the console but I have no idea what anything means. Any help would be apprecaited.

Didn't read all your post, no real reason to. Do you have a Login password set that you have to type in every time you start or wake your Mac from sleep?
If not whether or not your system was hacked doesn't really matter. Without a Login password set that you have to type in every time you start or wake your Mac what do expect. It is Wide open for anyone to access it at anytime. Convenience for you = access for someone that would do you harm.
Good Luck.

• My password protected phone was stolen and hacked into. How can I prevent someone like this from hacking into/getting around the passcode? They now have access to everything on my phone (I had a passcode to prevent this)

How can you prevent a hacker from bypassing your iphone passcode? My phone was stolen and someone hacked in and has access to everything on my phone and turned off "find my iphone." This is exactly what I wanted to prevent from happening and the reason why I had a passcode.

Turn on "Erase Data" in Settings>Passcode. That will wipe the data after 10 incorrect password attempts.
Turn off "Simple Passcode" in the same place and use something other than a 4 digit pin as your passcode.
Also make sure Find my iPhone is enabled so you can locate and if necessary, forcibly wipe the phone.

• Do I need to change main computer password if a friend was hacked into on their e-mail?

A friend had computer hacked into. An e-mail had been sent to me to open. I clicked on the e-mail but it wanted me to subscrie to a site and I didn't. I changed my e-mail password, but I have a homegroup and password there as well as the main password to get into my computer. Do I need to change those?
Thank you.

Connie, welcome to the forum.
The experts recommend that you change all of your passwords at least monthly. I don't know anyone who does this, but it certainly can save alot of grief. Therefore, change your passwords if you feel uncomfortable. The main password for the computer won't stop intrusions from emails, however.
I actually had my email account hijacked. This is a pain because whomever did it sent SPAM to everyone in my Contacts list every day. My Contacts wondered if I had lost my mind. Microsoft finally locked my account and had me jump through hoops to get it unlocked. The main thing that I had to do was change my password.

• I have a feeling my personal Apple Laptop computer activities may be being monitored. I feel my Apple Laptop may have been hacked into. I noticed suspicious item in my wastebasket that I did not remove or know what it means ("roaming password..")

I replaced my and my family's electronic phones and computers with Apple products due to their superior security capabilities, and the intgrity of their workforce. Thus I come to you for help with a serious concern in hopes that you can help me.
Possible Hack into my personal Apple Laptop
I have a feeling my Apple Laptop has been hacked into and is being monitored. Today I noticed that an old HP printer that we removed from our wireless setup was still connected. In my attempt to remove the old one I noticed that as I was trying to do so it seemed my actions were being shadowed and both of my printer icons (old and new printer) dissapeared. Anyway I looked in the wastebasket and noticed the following item which I had never noticed before: "roaming_password_for_1475_txt_webarchive" in the trash. As it looked suspicious I restored it onto my desktop to open it and research it and it had information on it saying, To remove the DOCOMO interTouch Cable turn on the wireless network conection on your computer....." It had text giving my username and password for roaming - I could not copy or pirnt the information from my desktop, so I took a copy and video of it via my Apple cell phone.
Possible Hack into my personal Apple Cell Phone:
I have noticed that when I am on phone calls with certain people, my phone will emit a loud long beep. I am involved with protecting jobs through a union, and am concerned that the county I work for may have had one of their IT people hack into my phone, etc...
Can you please help me with this? PLEASE.
With appreciation

I have noticed that when I am on phone calls with certain people, my phone will emit a loud long beep. I am involved with protecting jobs through a union, and am concerned that the county I work for may have had one of their IT people hack into my phone, etc...
Can you please help me with this? PLEASE.
With appreciation

How is it that so many of our iCloud accounts are being hacked into? Mine was and scam messages were sent to a lot of people. I even received one from someone else's hacked iCloud account.

All it takes is for one computer to be infected by a virus (obviously a PC) that sends all its contacts to the hacker's server, and then all these contacts are used as recipients to scam emails. Hackers even post stolen contacts on the web for others to use.

• I believe some how some way my iPhone or appleID has been hacked into. My iPhone sent 3 iMessages out that I did not type or send - 2 while I was sleeping and one while I was in mid imessage conversation. Please help if you know anything about this!

I believe that my iPhone or apple ID has been hacked into. Three imessages were sent from my phone that I did not type or send - two while I was asleep at 1:15am and in the morning during an iMessage conversation. These messages were to my boyfriend about my boss. Apple and AT&T have been somewhat helpful but both are pointing fingers at the others saying they cannot track the message or see if my personal information has been compromised. I feel extremely violated because this hacker knows who my boyfriend is and who my boss is and I just started this job two weeks ago! I am about to go to the police because this person is trying to taint my good reputation and destroy my relationships at work and in my personal life. Does anyone have any incite on how this could be done and is there any way to trace where those three iMessages were generated from??

No I have my own iPhone iPad and MacBook so everything is set up on devices that are mine and as far as I know I never connected to anyone else's device and logged with my apple ID. But are you saying it is possible for someone to have obtained my apple ID and send an iMessage from their device with my contact information so it looks like it came directly from me? It's crazy I looked down at my iPhone and saw this message had just been sent that I did not type or send

i have an apple i phone that is disabled because cant remember the password to get into the phone i was told to sign into i tunes to be able to unlock my phone. i have i tunes i get into on my i phone but can not get into it on my computer??

Hey grandkids7k,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides troubleshooting information if you have forgotten your passcode:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
Thanks,
Matt M.

• My yahoo email was hacked into via my Blackberry 8530 Curve

My yahoo email was hacked into as I opened an email on my Blackberry 8530 curve. They were able to change my email password, steal and delete my contact list, send all my contacts and email saying I was in London and desperately needed $1500 and set up an alternate email in Yahoo so that if some questioned the email requesting money they would reply it was really me. Is there anything I can use to protect the Blackberry phone from this type of thing from happening. Nortons phone security doesn't work with RIM Thanks for any help
Jack
You should also know YAHOO was of now help at all in helping or even stopping this from going on. They only respond with canned emails.

Thanks for the response. No one else used my phone. Unfortunately, I'm still skeptical of your conclusion. I have disabled the yahoo e-mail through my Blackberry message center and changed the password on my yahoo e-mail account. Fortunately, I have had no further occurrences over the past few days. To regain some confidence in the security, I feel inclined to create a new yahoo e-mail account, add some contacts, enable it through my Blackberry message center and see if the same thing happens. Any thoughts on that?
omg, your Yahoo account was hacked probably from India or China or Turkey, by running password code breaking software on the account. The hackers do this ALL day long and ALL night long across the internet guessing passwords combos.
It has nothing do with your BlackBerry. Your BlackBerry email data is encrypted. Your PC or internet connection to your Yahoo account is very likely not.
Your "test" won't prove anything.

• My airport extreme was hacked into. How do I repair the problem?

My Airport exttreme was hacked into I believe. It shows up under available networks under a name I didnt give it. What do I do?

This information indicates that your AirPort has been reset back to factory default settings. This can sometimes happen during a power outage or other type of power loss.
If you find that the AirPort will not hold its settings, then it may be defective and you should take it to an Apple store to verify.....if you have one in your area.
Remember.....hackers do not want you to know that they are on your network, so they try to make things appear as normal as possible. They would not be changing the name of your network if they wanted to to use it or try to obtain any data from your computers.

• I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore

I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my NIKON camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore!! Help where are they? How can I retrieve them or are they lost???
Please help me!!!

Do you see more photos, when you enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu?
And that was afetr I took the connection with the NIKON out of my laptop.
Check, if you really imported into your iPhoto library - is the preference setting "Advanced > Importing: Copy items to the iPhoto Library" active? If not, connect your Nikon again - do you now see more photos?
If you imported into the iPhoto Library, check inside the package:
Select your iPhoto library in the Finder, ctrl-click it, use the command "Show Package Contents".
There will be a folder named "Masters" inside, with subfolders named by year - month - day. Look for the date you did the import and check, if the photos are inside.
If yes, copy this folder to a folder on your desktop to save the photos.
If not, search for a folder "Importing" inside the library. Is it there? Then copy these photos to a folder on the Desktop.
If you found your photos, backup and rebuild your library.

• I think my mac was hacked into last night using my Terminal application

Not sure - but I think my mac was hacked into last night when I downloaded the wrong version of handbrake application. I noticed on my screen that my Terminal Application opened and has some "darwin" code in it with my name and a $dollar sign after it. Should I be worried?

If that is your only symptom, I wouldn't be worried.

• Someone hacked into my phone. ATT said it was through the icloud.

Some hacked into my iphone. ATT said it was through the icloud

I was texting with my sister. I put my phone down and heard it ping that I had received a text. I picked it up and in the text window on my phone was a message. The message said - task force court orders we were at the house - I immediately snapped a photo of it because the same thing happened to my son and it frightened him and he erased it. He is going thru a nasty divorce and I am convinced that his ex is the one doing this. She works with some techies that would help her do this. The message was relevant to the situation that they are in regarding possession of the home. I did not know what to do with it so I sent it to my sister. Her reply was ?? I did not type this - my phone was laying on my bed and it was not from my sister.

• Is someone trying to hack into my computer via the app store?

Apple alerted me that my ID and password have been hacked into by someone in the US downloading a free app - which arrived on my i-pad.
I've changed my password - is this sufficient - or should I change my Apple ID as well.
Since then - all my emails indicate the time as an hour behind the actual time - is this related - or just a mal-functioning coincidence?
Is it possible for someone to hack into my computer using my Apple details as a way in?
Any advice - gratefully received!

Apple alerted me that my ID and password have been hacked into by someone in the US downloading a free app - which arrived on my i-pad.
That certainly sounds like the symptoms of a hacked Apple ID. Note that you should not click on any of the links in the e-mail you received. Instead, go straight here:
http://appleid.apple.com
Change your password, making sure to select a strong one that cannot be guessed. Then, I'd strongly encourage you to turn on two-factor authentication to prevent people from taking total control of your Apple ID:
Apple introduces two-factor authentication
should I change my Apple ID as well.
Changing your Apple ID would mean losing all purchases you have made with your current Apple ID. That's not a solution to this problem, and will cause you other headaches.
Since then - all my emails indicate the time as an hour behind the actual time - is this related - or just a mal-functioning coincidence?
Coincidence, most likely. I can't see any reasonable way for these things to be related.
Is it possible for someone to hack into my computer using my Apple details as a way in?
If someone gets access to your iCloud account (which, for most people, is their Apple ID), they certainly may be able to hack your computer in a variety of ways. If you have turned on Back to My Mac, they can get access to your computer that way through your iCloud account. If you have turned on Find My Mac, they can locate, lock or even remotely erase your computer using your iCloud account. Both of these would be enabled - and can be disabled - in System Preferences -> iCloud.
