Was the "Blink" effect dropped in FCP X?

I am looking for an equivalent to the "Blink" effect in FCP X which lets you specifiy intervals when frames are "dropped" (the underlying media or black (or a chosen colour) is shown instead), e.g. described here: http://www.studiodaily.com/main/richmedia/VIDEO-TUTORIAL-The-Blink-Filter-in-Fin al-Cut-Pro_6747.html
In my german version there is an effect called "Blinken" ("to blink"), but that one renders a "light effect" in random intervals onto the frames.
Was that effect dropped in FCP X?

I am a new Indesign user and a Creative Cloud member. I was using the Window/Pages drop down window to view my pages alphabetically or by page number and also to determine whether or not my JPEG files were sufficiently HI-Res for the printer. I don't know how I did it but somehow the window has changed so that now it does not have the alphabetical/numerical/Hi-Res information. It just shows the pages in a two page spread in numerical order. How can I restore the window so that I will be able to view the information as I did previously.

The pages panel is not the place where you see this information. You can customize the Links panel to show all sorts of things, including the page number, effective and actual ppi, and whether the link is OK or needs updating.

Why does Premiere Pro stop, or drop frames when using the Timecode Effect.

The Timecode Effect is gpu accelerated, the render bar is yellow and it still drops frames.
If it drops frames on a yellow bar, how can I ever trust it to print to tape? It wouldn't be a problem if I could say render the yellow sections of my edit, but it won't because the bar is not red. Very frustrating!
Running 64bit windows 7;
gtx470 graphics card;
12GB of memory (9 reserved for Premiere)
Raid 0 _ Speed Tested Excellent
working with uncompressed black magic 1080i AVI's
It seems to happen when I have overlapping clips with the Timecode Effect on one or both. Plays fine if just a single clip with the effect.
Any help would be great, hopefully I'm just missing something simple..

Here is a capture of my speed test. I do have 4 disks on a raid 0, very little data on the drives. I have run 3 tracks of HD with different levels of opacity with no problem. I do crash the drives when I add the forth. So I would like to think that two tracks with accelerated effect should be fairly simple to playback. Am I wrong to be thinking that way? Also only working with 8 bit, This test is for 10 and up.
The read comes in above 500 mb/s. It was on the way up when I captured it.

Drag n Drop in JTree - missing the visual effect

I already implemented the D&D on Jtree (from a JList)
I've implemented DropTargetListener and it works
I've the visual effect of the Dragged object on the mouse
I have an extended DefaultTreeCellRenderer witch I use for other things.
My problem is how do I get the visual effect of the active tree nodes when I drag it over them ?

Drag and drop is not something you can just turn on and off im afraid. You have 2 choices:
1. if the dragging and dropping only occurs over a single component such as your tree, you could probably make a simplified on with mouse [motion?] listeners. On a mouse drag it could check which node was under the drag point and keep that in a variable. On a mouse release it could look to see if theres a node there and if so make it a child of that node.
2. Implement full drag and drop, subclassing the JTree and having both a DragSource and DropTarget assigned to it. Theres a load of interfaces to implement but its not too difficult. Youll also need to make a DataFlavor class to contain the node values. Its the more involved solution but would probably be better in the long run.

There are no longer events in Photos. The new Photos for Mac is structuring the Photos Library automatically into Moments based on dates and locations. You cannot change the moments.
When Photos migrates an iPhoto Library, it will create album for each event in the iPhoto Library, as a substitute, but these album based "events" are a fake, because albums behave differently from events.
In iPhoto each photo could be only in one event, so you could move photos from one event to another. With albums, dragging a photo from an album to another album will simply add the photo to the other album as well.
You will have to remove the photo from the original album.

I was trying to figure out how to stop my pinned apps from disappearing after I've shut-down my computer during storms. In the process of trying things I lost the Orange Firefox drop down box in the upper left corner. How do I get it back?

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden.
*View > Toolbars > Customize
*Right-click a toolbar).
*Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

I originally had Adobe Photoshop Extended, then upgraded to the Production Suite. I ran the Adobe Cleaner, and that uninstalled most Adobe products, including my existing Adobe install, and then I re-installed everything with the same error code. Since CS4 came with CS5, I've installed AE CS4, but would really like to upgrade because I'm new to Creative Suite, and not sure how CS4 integrates with CS5...CS4 After Effects installed perfectly. I do have a 64 bit system, and installing to an OCZ Vertex 2....every other suite installs perfectly, except AE. And I think that is the coolest program in the Suite. I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...

I installed this same digitizer in my T|X some weeks ago. Some discussion of my experience may be found in this Usenet posting and subsequent thread.
The stock digitizer in my T|X had always had some significant alignment issues (for which PowerDigi was able to compensate very nicely) and sensitivity which was uneven, but which usually required a heavier touch than I liked.
Eventually, it began to develop a “dead spot” near the upper left. My T|X was under warranty, so I probably ought to have sent it in to Palm to be repaired, but I wasn't willing to be without it for the required amount of time, and I've heard enough reports of other T|X owners getting unsatisfactory results this way. I'd heard enough good reports about the PDAPARTS.COm digitizer, that I decided that the only acceptable way to repair my T|X would be to install one of those.
After however many weeks it has been, I am still very pleased with the results. It continues to work flawlessly; it is much more sensitive, so it doesn't require nearly so heavy a touch, and I very much like the hard feel that it has, compared to the spongier feel of the stock digitizer.
My wife's T|X still has its stock digitizer, and it has so far not shown any of the same problems that mine did, or for which the T|X has become notorious, but the feel is noticeably inferior. She's content with it the way it is, but I think that if I were to ever buy another T|X for myself, I wouldn't wait for the stock digitizer to fail. The PDAPARTS.COM digitizer is simply superior in every imaginable way; and, in my opinion, a T|X with the PDAPARTS.COM digitizer installed is sufficiently superior to one with the stock digitizer (even if it isn't defective) to be very much worth the expense and trouble of installing it.

Where are all the nice effects that was in imovie 06?

I recently upgrade to imovie 08, and when i tried to work with it i really had some serious issues to adapt to the style of the interface.
One thing that i can't find is the video effects (not the transitions, the filters)...where are they?
I am looking for all these nice filters that was adding the fog, the electricity, the sepia and so on...don't tell me that they are gone! I would immediately return to imovie 06 in this case, since i consider the filters and the effect a must; and final cut is not an option since is expensive and looks more complicate than adobe premiere on PC

I have had my MacBook Pro since it first hit the market about 2yrs ago. I used iMovie 6 and iDVD 6 to assemble a fairly professional DVD movie for my wife's Mothers Day present featuring clips from our kids. The movie, which looked awesome, had transitions, titles, fades to black, etc, etc...all backed and timed to music. In otherwords, I spent HOURS syncing the transitions and effects to correspond to changes in the soundtrack used. I had dabbled with Adobe Premier on Windows before, so I had some idea what I was doing. The end result was awesome, and iDVD 6 made it all very professional, all wrapped in a nice DVD package.
Enter iLife '08 and iMovie '08. I was VERY excited when I saw the demo videos of iMovie. It looked to simplify a lot of the things I struggled with in iMovie '06. The first thing I tried to do was to import my iMovie '06 file I made for my wife. Well, imagine how disappointed I was when I played the imported movie, and 1/2 of my transitions are gone, none of me fades are there, and the soundtrack, which took what seemed an eternity to sync, was kaput. All that hard work, and iMovie '08 just flat-out ignored it.
I tried to import some slide-show movies I made for the Mothers Day DVD as well, but the same problem occurred. Then came the 7.1 update, which I thought surely Apple has heard complaints from others on this and fixed these issues, so I deleted all the files and tried to import once again, but once again I was sorely disappointed.
I would LOVE to go out and buy Final Cut, but lets face it, that costs money. I figured and new version of an application, regardless if its a "total rewrite", would have all the features the previous version had PLUS new things. Heck, I am a software developer myself, and I wouldn't ever DREAM of telling my clients "Oh, this is much better, but its missing about 1/2 of what you used to have...but trust me, its better". It's insulting as a user to be patronized this way.
Apple, please, for the love of God, don't EVERY make another product that is deemed an 'upgrade', but doesn't not do what the old version did at all. Because of this, I will be leery before I upgrade any other Apple software. I am not made of money, and I am not in the business of buying stuff just because its there. The next update I will most certainly wait out and see what people think.

The employee was very excited about the topic and cringed when I force quit in front of him. He gave me the url to read about multi-tasking so that i could read more. But neither that page nor the force quitting apps page says anything about this activity being bad. Is it so bad? If so, why don't we know that? So many people I know force quit in an effort to have fewer pages appear.

This employee said he tells about a half dozen people a day when they come in with various problems, as he is attributing their problems to force quitting. It's like he was out to save the world, one iphone user at a time. I'm talking *serious* passion from this man!

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

No. You can't exchange a foriegn iPhone for a U.S. iPhone. You'll have to get it back to China to exchange it, and then only if you have AppleCare+. Physical damage isn't covered under warranty... and IIRC, you can't get APP+ in China.

GoodReaderUSB originally worked by transferring files to a special location on a user’s iPhone, which iPhone’s GoodReader app was able to access.
