Was there an upgrade that blocks incoming email ?

i stopped receving emails yesterday afternoon. i've spoken with my ISP and its not a server problem. might be software related. i do not believe i have an action firewall (firewall is off under system preferences/sharing) but dont know what "Network Time" is. any thots?

(I posted this on another thread, but since you seem to be in the same boat as me, and I have yet to hear a solution)...
Yay, I'm not the only person who suddenly can't access email using APPLE MAIL!
Using Apple Mail, the last email I've been able to receive from an Earthlink-hosted domain account was on the morning of 11/30/05. I have Apple Mail on 3 computers (one of which is still Jaguar, the other two are Tiger), and MAIL is totally malfunctioning on ALL THREE COMPUTERS!
However, the mail is on the server, and I have NO PROBLEM downloading it using Entourage... I can see the mail is still on the server, yet APPLE MAIL doesn't see it...
I have a total of 5 email accounts, and but the problem is only with one account and Apple Mail. That's what makes this so annoying, as the problem seems to point to both Apple's software and also to Earthlink (who hosts this email account, and also has admitted to having a lot of email server problems lately). Since Apple Mail works with other accounts, it points to Earthlink. But since Entourage has no problem getting mail from this account, it point to Apple Mail. HELP!!!!
NOTE: I did the security update (2005-009) on some computers, but not all, yet the problem is on all my computers (using MAIL).
Oh oh... I realize this is rambling... I just ran mail on a 4th computer. I haven't run mail on this computer for months... Anyway, it seemed to get the mail fine! Very confusing... As if something corrupted the APPLE MAIL if it was running last week, but not if it hasn't run for awhile... Crazy...
Below is a solution posted on another website, but I have yet to try it. Maybe it will work, but it requires deleting a lot of stuff...
Also, for anyone desparate, please try mail2web.com to access your mail, and see what's on your incoming mail server! It's a lifesaver if you don't have anything but Apple Mail!
WORKAROUND FOUND ON OTHER WEBSITE???
"I was also having the problem of Mail.app not showing any new mail off my IMAP server (using Cyrus IMAP and postfix on SuSE Linux 9.1). Even after deleting the account and confirming the deletion of the account folder in ~/Library/Mail. I was able to fix it only by deleting all accounts from the Mail.app preferences, quitting Mail.app, and then trashing all the contents ~/Library/Mail. When I added my account then, everything worked fine. I did have to redo all my preferences. I am also using GPGMail for Tiger without problems."

  • Block Incoming Emails

    Hello,
I have a solaris 10 machine running Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-8.01 . I'm using this server only to send email , not to receive. I have another server for Incoming emails.
I Want to block incoming emails from outside domains on the SMTP out server, thus I added "tcp_local|*|tcp_intranet|* $N$D30|you$ are$ not$ allowed" under "ORIG_SEND_ACCESS" mapping table, then restarted messaging service.
This rule did not work for unknown reasons, I can keep sending emails from outside IPs or domains to inside users using the SMTP out server.
Note that there's a similar rule to stop relaying tcp_local - tcp_local and it is working perfectly.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • How do I get my incoming emails in Mail on my Imac to automatically go to Icloud?  My sent emails go there automatically but not my incoming emails.

How do I get my incoming emails in Mail on my Imac to automatically go to Icloud?  My sent emails go there automatically but not my incoming emails.  I'm using OS X 10.8.5.

No, I'm not using the icloud email address.  I am using my email address [email protected]  Let me try to explain what I'm trying to do.  I'd like the emails that I send from and that are sent to my pacbell.net email address to also show up on icloud so if something happens to my imac which is the primary computer my emails are preserved on Icloud and I can access them there.
    Is that possible?
Note:  I have been able to move my pacbell.net emails to the icloud account manually.

  • Blocking incoming email

How do I block incoming email from someone I do not wish to continue receiving emails from, I am using my home computer, not a cell phone.

From your Inbox page, go to Preferences>>>>>>Email>>>>>>Email Filters.  There you can set up a filter to either re-direct incoming email or just discard it so you never see it.

  • Was there an update that may be effected by expanded RAM?

Both my girlfriend and my computers had swapped the RAM in them, and in the same evening, after restarting they stopped working. When swapping the old RAM back in, they worked again. Was there an update that would have caused this error to occur?
My girlfriend is running a MacBook 5,1 with SL, and I am running a MacBook Pro 5,1 with Lion

The ram specs for a both those machines are:
    204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
So the swap should have worked.  Perhaps you didn't seat the dimms properly when you tried it.  Was it a one-to-one swap?  And why swap at all?

Does anybody know an app that blocks all communications from a certain number

There is none. Check with your cell provider.

  • Is there a way to have incoming email messages automatically colored by priority?

I am trying to find a means for incoming email messages to automatically be displayed in a color I can link to its priority (set by sender). I don't need it to be filed into a subfolder; just want to make highest or high priority messages more visible in my email inbox. I already know how to manually assign a color to messages. Thanks.

The only suggestion I can make is to designate some tags of suitable colours, and use '''Tools|Message Filters''' to set the tags.
Myself, I rarely see any messages with explicit priority flags, but I think you'll see an entry similar to this:
    X-Priority: 1 (Highest)
    in the header.
Go to '''Tools|Message Filters''' and create a new filter. '''Priority''' is offered as a standard filter term; if this doesn't do the job, you can go down to the end of the list of filter criteria and make a new one, under '''Customize'''.
The action of the filter, when triggered, should, of course, be to apply a suitable tag, which would result in the message being coloured. Repeat for each level of urgency you care to identify. Place your tagging filters at the top of your list of filters so the tagging will take place before any other filtering.

  • TS3276 Beginning on December 23rd I was no longer able to receive incoming emails on my computer.  They appear on the server.  My iphone can retrieve them, but my mail program on my computer can't see them.  I tried deleting and recreating account.  Didn'

I'd been using the program on the same computer for years.  I've tried just about everything now, backing up my email boxes to my desktop and deleting them, creating a new account and deleting the old one.  I've checked the behaviors.  I've dumped tons of old emails.  Help.  There is one other thing that was happening in the months before that I didn't realize.  As my computer downloaded the incoming files, they were not being erased from the server.  I don't know why.  I hadn't changed any settings.  The Rep from my server company insisted it was that I'd maxed out the program or something was corrupt and recreating the account would help.  It didn't.  When I'd done everything else and backed up everything, I also tried deleting the Cache in the Finder.  No difference.  Help.

How much mail are we talking about here?  Roughly how many messages, and roughly how many gigabytes of mail?
Who is the mail provider?  Is this a local provider on a local network, or one of the "free" providers, or something from your ISP?
Do you have free disk space on your OS X system here, or is it possible that your disk is getting full?
As for the usual diagnostics for problems with Mail.app, launch Mail.app and select the Connection Doctor from the Window menu, let it run, select More Details, and re-run the tests.  Expunge any personally-identifying information and post the results here, if they don't make the trigger clear.
You can also try a mailbox repair pass; there's a Rebuild option in the Mail.app menus.
If the downloads are failing, then the usual trigger is the IMAP or POP password setup; there are two entirely seperate connections and two separate credentials and such; the send path (SMTP) and the receive (IMAP or POP) path.  Usual triggers for problems are changes to the mail servers involved, or the mail ports, or the credentials needed; I've seen vendors change each of those, and forget to mention it to their users.
That OS X version is extremely old.  (I don't have anything nearly that old to check the details fo the setup of that version; 10.6.8 is the oldest OS X version I have handy.)

  • Blocking incoming email accounts

I have suddenly been deluged with apparently undeliverable mail sent elsewhere but returned to my email address from Hotmail.  I am neither a subscriber/member of Hotmail, nor of Windows Live.
How do I simply block a sender from my email inbox?  With the PC there was an ability to name senders, but I cannot find the same on my iMac.
    Ashleyrey

If there's is something unique in the header (from hotmail?) you could make a rule to filter the stuff to mail's junk or trash.  But you cannot simply block it from coming in.
Most isp's have mail servers where you can specify filtering for the server so that it never reaches you.  It's generally provided through some web page set up by the isp to enable mail filtering.  You would need to check with your isp about that.

  • Are we now requiered to buy CS6 to get camera raw 8.4 or is there an upgrade that works with CS5?

I use CS5 and don't want CS6. I do however need to upgrade camera raw and would like to get 8.4 or newer. Is there a way to get it without having to buy a whole new program? If not I guess I'll have to stop using CS6 and Lightroom 5 for my work and use another program.

Since I shoot in a raw format,
    With which camera?
Their current offer is $10 a month or $120 a year to upgrade to CS 6/CC
You don't have to join the Cloud to get CS6. You can also upgrade to the perpetually licensed version of CS6.
    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_s l_creativesuite6.html
since I prefer not to store my work on somebody else's system
As a Cloud member, you can still store your files locally just as you do now. That's my preferred workflow too.
Cloud membership does come with 20GB of Cloud storage space on remote servers but using it is optional. You're not obliged to.
I have been with Adobe and using both Photoshop and lightroom since beginning, but I guess all good things must come to an end at sometime.
Using the free DNG converter, you can continue with your current software and your current camera. You just have to convert the camera's Raw files to DNGs first.

  • Is there an app to block incoming calls?

like a black list app? Thanks!

No, there is not. You can create a silent ringtone and assign it to numbers you don't want to receive.

  • No colors that should be found in text in my incoming emails

I have a new computer and after getting it up and running I've found that my incoming emails from friends that often send part of their mail highlighted in colors now appear to me only in black. I have color enabled in settings. They have said things like, "this sentence is in red" and it only appears black to me. A solution that works would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the opportunity to ask.

    >"Allow content to choose its own colors"
That sentence is very deceptive. It implies that it operates on someone ELSES content, ie incoming mail.
There is no indication that it operates on your OWN content. It makes no sense to interpret it as meaning "allow my own content to choose its own colors instead of my own colors chosen above"

  • Blocking certain emails

I get junk mail all the time and i was wondering if i could block specific email addresses (mac os 10.4.3)

Since spammers don't provide a valid sending or return email address and are constantly changing the bogus email address used (much of the same junk that appears to be sent by a different email address are being sent by the same person and computer), this is waste of time and can't be done with any email client anyway.
This can only be done at the incoming mail server level by your ISP or email account provider.
Do you automatically render all HTML received and/or do you provide this email address when making online purchases, for any website access if required or for any other "public" purpose?
Regarding automatically rendering all HTML received, your email address can be logged as a "known good" address by a spammer if the spammer includes any embedded images or objects with HTML that must be rendered from a remote server. If the Mail.app junk filter automatically marks a message as junk, any embedded images or objects will not be rendered when the message is opened but if a junk message is not automatically marked as junk and contains embedded images or objects and it is opened, you can be revealing that your email address is valid to the spammer causing you to receive even more spam. Spammers also sell/trade their lists of "known good" email addresses so it becomes an endless cycle.
Does your ISP or email account provider include a method to forward any spam received to them with long headers shown for the received message? If so, your ISP or email account provider can then determine the computer IP address where the messages originated and block that IP address from being able to send messages to any email address in your ISP's or email account provider's domain.
If you are providing this email address for any online purchases, website access or for any other public purpose where this email address can be harvested by spammers, you need to have a private and public email address. Use the private email address to exchange email with family and friends ONLY. Get a free Hotmail or Yahoo account/address with webmail access only to be used for public purposes.
Once the cat is out of the bag, it is too late so this may require cancelling this email address and getting a new "private" address along with not automatically rendering all HTML received.
