Was this a virus?
Last night my phone started glitching really badly. Nothing would load properly on the facebook app. I gave up and went to bed and the problem was still happening this morning, only on all of the apps. Twitter, tumblr and facebook would randomly crash and when I'd restart them, or even restart my phone, they would still be in the same place they were when I'd close them, not loading anything new. It then started messing with my text app, and when I'd go to send a text it would close me out as soon as I'd press send and I'd lose the entire text. I thought maybe I had too much stuff on my phone so I went through all my videos and photos to delete some and when I got to the bottom there was a random ".mov" file and when I opened it came up with "Cannot open" and then the photo app crashed. I tried to delete the photos seperately and the same thing happened to them, so I'm not sure if my phone just wasn't deleting anything or if it was that specific file. I then restrated my phone one more time (the full reset, holding down the lock and home button) and it came up with the apple icon but also a load bar (can someone explain what that means to me too?) and then as soon as my phone restart I went to delete the mov file and it deleted this time and now everything is back to normal except that when it restarted this time my brightness level was down and the battery percentage was set to off. My apps are also all over the place, not where I remember leaving them before. Apart from this, nothing seems to have been sent and my search history seems the same, but I'm wondering what the **** was going on with my phone today? Could it be because I've refused to update my phone for a long, long time? (I actually can't because I don't have enough space, need to move some music back onto my computer). Could this be linked to what I asked about the other day relating to the public wifi?

There are no viruses that affect a non-modified iPhone, so no, it wasn't a virus.
Sounds like you need to do some basic maintenance, like backup, update the OS and re-install your data.

As to what it might be, that's hard to say. You should try some basic troubleshooting... Repair the hard drive with disk utility. Boot in safe mode and see if it happens then, log in to a different user account and see if it happens there, reboot from another system and see if it happens.
Apparently some people have had this kind of problem caused by swelling batteries that push on the underside of the trackpad and cause all kinds of strange problems. Is your machine's underside deformed at all?

On Tuesday I received innocent looking messages from people I knew, regarding Skype requests etc. It didn't let me open, but apparently I was sending too. I changed password. Was it a virus?
Someone could have gotten ahold of your contact list or a friends contact list. That bad person either sent a mass email to you or sold the list to someone who did. The could have gotten the list

-- logging on to your email account from the web
-- a long cc list
You sure it was your contact list not a friends?
You may wish to change your passwords on all email accounts you have and the login passwords on all your computers. -
i recently had my computer fixed as it was loaded with viruses. Also I finally got my IPad 1 back from someone who had "borrowed" it for a year. It no longer worked, but in the case i had written down my old apple id. i had purchased 3 other ipad's since then and changed my id. i typed the old id and was delighted to see that i had over $1000 worth of dowmloaded media. i want to use this old acct number on one of my other IPads to avoid confusing two accts, but when i attempted transferring media onto computer it said i needed to first download bonjour. i have been trying to figure out how, but computer genius i am NOT. could someone please help me? i really appreciate any advice you could offer steering me in the right direction with this. thank you, stacey v

Bonjour is a program that is installed on your computer along with iTunes, so you will want to first uninstall iTunes and all of its related components:

If a virus, you will be the first OS X user with a virus since OS X was released 10 years ago. It is not a virus.
What type of email account - Exchange, IMAP, or POP?

Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions, nor do I intend to repeat the test.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Drag it to the Trash. A dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. That's the only useful feature of "MacKeeper:" it deletes itself. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon from the Dock to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. -
My Safari Preferences/Security screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies. Rather, there is a new Preferences/Privacy screen that allows you to manipulate cookies, but it is not as easy to use as when cookies were on the security screen. Was this an update? Has this change affected anyone else? This is strange, because Safari Help still states cookies are manipulated on the Security screen, even though the screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies.
Presuming you're referring to Safari 5.1, yes, it's moved, but I don't see it as being harder. Now you can clear all privacy-related items - cookies, cache and history - with one button, the "Remove All Website Data" button. If you want to work with individual cookies, it's still just one button, the "Details" button. So no, I don't see it as being more difficult.

I downloaded the updated Firefox, but the ad-on for converting YouTube music videos to mps files is now unavailable. How do I get it back? Why was this feature disabled?
In the former Firefox version there was a box to click for converting YouTube music videos into HQ mp3 files. That box is no longer apparent in the new Firefox version. I went back to Ad-On s and re-downloaded the program YouTube to MP3 1.2. It says it's not compatible with Firefox 6.0. Can I reinstall the older version of Firefox?When I clicked on the second site mentioned, I got such EXPLICIT, step-by-step directions!!! Thank you so much. I'd been wondering what that window was that kept popping up with the Firefox icon and that other funny thing. The word *install* was never mentioned. Pictographs were never my thing.
When I looked under the initial system requirements, it said that OS X 10.4.5 and higher were good for 5.0. I didn't check further. Under your advice, I'll go with the older version. Thank you for taking the time to help me. -

No one from Apple here - we're just users like you. All I can tell you is that electronic fail and with MacBook Pros (and most notebooks) the components are so integrated as to make a repair to the logic board practically impossible, hence the high prices charged for repairs.
Only you can decide if you want to have your computer repaired or put the money towards the purchase of a new computer. If you do decide to purchase a new unit I would suggest that you also purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan which increases your warranty from one year to three years.

Can anyone help me find my old library now that I appear to have deleted it or overwritten it accidentally? I'm always asked if I want to update when I put in my i-pod and have to do that before I can open my library so I think it was this action that caused me to delete previous library. Can anyone help? Apple support have been hopeless as they don't seem to respond to this particular problem but keep giving me answers to finding my purchases which i already know how to do!

Carriers lock phones. Only Carriers can unlock them. Contact the carrier to whom your phone is locked. See if they allow unlocking, and if they do, what the qualifications are.

In my dock there was this weird program called "tutorial". While throwing away this program I had to fill in my password. Afterwards I tried to change my password, but my old password doesn't work anymore. Who can help?
What was this program for, or did you just assume it's something you shouldn't have and therefore arbitrarily decide to "throw it away"? Exactly how did you supposedly throw it away?
If you didn't change your administrator password, there's no reason it shouldn't work now, so that suggests you did something else, or changed it and then forgot what it was.
You can't recover that password; you can only change it. To do that, you would need to boot from your Snow Leopard DVD, choose your language, then choose Reset Password from the Utilities menu in the top menu bar. -
I have never been able to use Firefox to view my OWA (Outlook Web Access). It always prompts for creds that it doesn't accept anyway. Until I added the IE-Tab Add-on, was this a known limitation for Firefox?
Hi prime_anthony and thank you for asking. I do not think this is a Firefox limitation because I have been accessing my OWA too via Firefox on a Linux machine. I can login using my domain account and password without any problem and without using IE-Tab add-on.
It probably depends on the version of the Outlook Web Access or the Exchange Server. Newer versions of these already have Firefox supported. -

Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.
If you have this persons email address, try sending them an email and asking them to remove their ID as described above.
