Wasn't there an option to convert songs to 128kbs for shuffles in earlier versions of itunes? Before 7.x?

it's still there (at least it is on mine). Connect the shuffle and go to it's Settings tab."Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC" is in the Options section at the bottom.

Weighted/Prioritize Songs in Playlists for Shuffle Mode

Either automatically or by allowing us to assign values to songs within playlists indicating how often we want to hear the particular song or how many times we want the song to be replayed before it is removed from the shuffle queue for a user specified amount of time.
It doesn't have to be that complicated. It would be nice to have "Play this song less often" and "Play this song more often" options.
I would really like to see what other users have to think about this.

Smart Shuffle- power hour feature (play each song for a desired amount of time from a certain start point of the song) Example: Play my Top 40 playlist starting 1 minute into the song, only play the song for 2 minutes before crossfading to the next song. Example 2: Using the lyrics that are already built into Spotify: Play a song 30 seconds before the first chorus starts, Play the song for 1 minute then skip to the next song and do the same thing. This is a powerful feature and could be used as a virtual DJ like for clubs and parties or at a BBQ. Some people don't want to listen to a full 5minute song and are just happy with hearing 2 minutes of the 5 minute song. - allow a toggle to shuffle a playlist but with priorities like: new songs added to the playlist, most played and etc. Some people have 500+ song playlists but when shuffling they would love to hear their newly added songs more often than a song they added 2 years ago. Sure they could make a new playlist with their new songs but what if they like hearing an old song once in a while to spice things up a bit.

How do I get the tracks that I've recorded onto logic into mp3 format so I can import them into my itunes? I have a Roland 2480, and I record my "mixed" song into logic express via a lexicon usb converter, into 2 stereo tracks in logic. How do I get that to my desired destination?

I am a new mac user who switched from adobe premiere to FCE. I need to use some music from my itunes library in my FCE project. How do I convert itunes audio for use in FCE?

I'm pretty new to FCE, so this might be useless. But I've found a trick (obtained from "Final Cut Express 2 Editing Workshop" by Tom Wolsky) which is to render audio at Item Level. It allows you to render a piece of music to the same sampling level as another item.
It seems to work fine, but some of these guys who've used this more might know of problems when using it.
Import your song from the Music folder (or wherever you have them stored) and just go into the Sequence/Render All or Render Selection menus and check the "Item Level." The next time you render your audio, it should render to the same properties as existing items in your project.
At least, that's how I gather it works. This won't help with copy protected songs as the guys mentioned, but the majority of my songs are not from the iTunes store, so it's useful to me. Hope that helps!

Problems converting songs to 128kbs automatically.

I can no longer automatically convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbs to save space on my iphone 4. 99% of songs show up but, appear grayed out and will not play. Is this a common problem and does anyone know of a fix? itunes and ios are up to date.

Thank you for mentioning that as it led me to the problem and such an easy fix too. I went back in to verify again that it was the full version and it was, BUT i still had the time checked when I was making the ringtone, therefore, the full version is on my phone, but only plays the from the start time.

Converting song formats

I imported all of my music using Apple Lossless encoder. Unfortunately, this took up a lot more memory than I was anticipating. Is there a way to convert songs from Lossless to AAC or MP3?

I've answered my own question. Probably it's obvious to all the experienced folk out there, but I'm just getting started with iTunes, and I simply didn't notice that there are two "Advanced" choices: one in Preferences and one in the Menu Bar. IMHO, putting the same term in such proximity 2x is practically to guarantee confusion.

You can check the website if it offers a full desktop view, but device side there is nothing. This has to be initiated from the website itself.

The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities. So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage. Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever. After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed. They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself. After that, the pics go over imessage. My own Iphone didn't have the problem. We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

I don't know of any utilities that can repair audio files, just as there is no auto-picture repair utility. However, due to the structure of an aac file (and for iTunes they all come "wrapped" in an mp4 wrapper), it depends on where the damage is. Your aac file is actually comprised of around 60 'atoms' and only 1 of them ("mdat") is the audio. If the damage occurred in a non-mdat atom, you might be able to resurrect your m4a file.
See if you can open these songs in Quicktime Player, and export then as AIFF, and then re-import them using iTunes. You can also direct copy the audio track with a more comprehensive tool called MP4Box (part of an opensource tool called "gpac"). You can get a mp4box binary in a tool called ffmpegx. You'll have to choose "show package contents" and use it Terminal.app's command line:
/Supply/path/to/--->/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/MP4Box -add ~/Desktop/Closer.m4a#audio -new ~/Desktop/try.m4a
(substitute the ~/Desktop paths with your files; note: you depending on your files, the '#audio' might need to be replaced with '#TrackID=1' or appropriate number).
I would advise you to try the mp4box way first (to minimize audio loss with multiple conversions) and listen to each song, checking each. If it fails, then I would try the Quicktime way. If that fails, I would go back to the source material. Whether you use Quicktime or mp4box, you'll loose the metadata. You'll need to re-do that.
and I agree with dwb that iTunes didn't cause it. I would save things to cdr/dvdr before your data loss gets larger.

How do you convert songs ON the iPod to 128kbs?

There is an option to convert new songs I put on my iPod (3rd generation, 4GB) to 128kbs, but how do I convert the songs already on it? Many of them are 256kbs and I need the space, and can't tell the difference in quality. I have a large library on my computer so I manually manage my iPod library. "Updating" the songs by dragging them individually to the iPod isn't a realistic option since it would take forever, AND to add insult to injury it even removes the song from any playlist when you do this!
Ideally I would like a button in iTunes that would convert all my songs on my iPod to 128kbs, but what's the next best thing?

There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

You must go in the labview option menu, you can select 'use the local
separator' in the front side submenu (LV6i).
If you use the "From Exponential/Fract/Eng" vi, you are able to select this
opton (with a boolean) without changing the labview parameters.
