Wasted Paper?

I would like to know why between the computer & printer the printer always wastes one sheet of paper?
No matter what HP printer I have had or Mac, the printer wastes paper every time.
Think og all the people out there printing a document and a sheet of paper is wasted along with some wasted ink???
PLS. STOP the madness!

Hi Blzr,
I believe in saving trees! I noticed you said you had a Mac. I can't help but wonder if maybe the following patch would stop the madness Critical HP Print Driver Update to address printing of an extraneous page.
This HP Print Driver Update fixes an issue with HP Inkjet products that causes an additional page to be printed after the intended document has completed.
I hope this resolves the issue you are experiniencing.

  • Printer wireless pages waste paper and ink

I just attached my new laptop to the wireless printer and each print adds a statistic report about what has been printed. This does not occur in the usb connection.
I don't need to waste paper or ink.
I only see fax report settings with scrolling through using the arrows.
How do I turn off wireless printer page report?

  • Wasting paper?

Using Ipad--When I go to print options it doesn't show print range so I assume there is only one page. However, when I print it prints 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. Problem is the second page is always blank except for url address at bottom with date, time and page 2 of 2??
Real waste of paper or non-productive if you chose to reuse the paper?? Using Canon MX430 printer. Have checked there site and haven't found anything. From what I have read I can't change the paper because in air print it automatically selects the paper ??
Happens when printing from Safari.  Could it be web site specific? I only get one page when I print an e-mail from Gmail??

  • How to avoid wasting paper when printing

I have PS Elements 12, MacBook Pro, OS X v. 10.7.5, printing to a large format Epson 7890 (24inch printer) via Epson printer driver. The printer wastes 30cm of paper before printing, and after printing, on a 24 inch roll of paper. Epson says this is a setting within Photoshop, so here I am asking the question. Can anyone help?

  • How to test java printing program without wasting paper?

    Hi,
I had written a java program that prints my document. I want to know how people test their printing document generatation program?
Because I think people don;t wastes papers..
So can anyone tell me to test these programs efficiently and preciesly what are the best testing tools available ?
    Thank you.

    1) find a program that prints to pdf, or some other file
    2) print to pdf or some other file instead of printing to a printer.
    3) To test it perfectly you will eventually have to waste some paper.

  • Why does HP inkjet 4500 waste paper?

If I am printing 2- 5 x 7, they should prin on  one sheet, or 4- 3 x 5 on one sheet.  If I ask for more than one print it prints them on  another sheet.  This waste not only my paper but my ink. And it should preview them befor printing them.  Please explain this to me. I just bought the printer and may have to return it.

changing the size of paper to be printed will not affect how many papers are used
you would need to have a software that allows for printing multiple slides per page(eg, powerpoint2003 or later)
it has nothing to do with the printer
it should be in the software how to print multiple slides per page
    http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/cc410/Keith_Lee96/printing.png
also it depends on the software ,some software will provide a preview, others do not

  • How can I print a selection in Firefox 11 without it wasting paper and printing blank space in place of the non-selected material?

In Firefox 10 and before, I could select a small portion of a web page and it would print the selected portion on a single page. In Firefox 11, it prints blank space for the portion above my selection before printing my selection. This blank space could span several pages, and my printer prints those several blank pages with only headers and footers.

Still happens with Firefox 12. I wish they'd just fix it, the way it used to be in Firefox 10, without the complicated workaround suggested above.

  • Summarize Comments or Print With Comments -- Wasting Paper

In 6.x pro, when I would summarize (or print with) comments and connector lines on a single page, the output file (or printed output) would include only those pages with comments. In 7.0, you get a page that says "no comments on this page."
It would be nice to have the option of not printing pages without comments. If you have a book, finding the one or two pages with comments can be a pain.

I've developed a tool that allows a much more efficient comments summary to be created.
Have a look here and contact me by email if you're interested in it:

  • Print Gantt chart without wasting paper

I have few tasks but a long date range to plot- a short and wide gantt chart. Is there a way to wrap the gantt chart onto one page or set printing options so that it only plots say the top 4 inches of each page?

    KYRep,
If all you want to show is the long tasks I think you best bet is to set the timescale to months, or years as appropriate so you will be able to see the start and finish together in the view. There is little benefit to having a fine timescale (e.g. days)
if all it will show is a looooooong Gantt bar.
And no, you can't "wrap" the Gantt Chart. You can however control the tasks that are printed by employing a filter. Set up a filter for just those long tasks you wan to show and then print with the filter applied.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I select paper size while in print preview ?

I have a printer with four different paper trays, and each one is loaded with different size of paper: A3, A4, Legal, envelopes. When I use IE 11, I can easy go to print preview, click on page setup (little gear icon), select paper size , margins, etc.. there, and when i hit OK, the page is adjusted to the settings I selected and its ready to print, and printer selects the proper size of the paper automatically
In Firefox v32, I can almost do this same, but I'm stuck with printing only on A4 style paper, as I don't see where to select the paper I want to print on !
I tried to select A3 and legal paper in the printer driver, but then firefox used the selected paper, but printout on the paper came out as set to A4 size, and rest of the page was empty ! Also I was not able to see the page preview of the selected paper either. How do I then print on other size papers than a4 ?
I found only one workaround which does not suits my needs but works: First: Go to printer driver and select legal or A3 paper as default, and then open firefox. If I do that i can print on any paper I select, but thats a horrible workaround, because then I often forget to change the default paper size back inside the printer driver, and i print my documents on wrong paper, wasting paper, ink and time...
Please let me know if there is a way to fix this printing feature somehow.
    Thanks.

    MichalB,
Sorry, IMO there is no real "fix" for what you are experiencing. Printer prefs set or changed in the operating system won't affect Firefox printing ''[IMO, either ancient code in Firefox or a "cross-browser thing".]'' Firefox has its' own settings for prefs and it defaults to the "last used" for all printer preference setting. And there is no way to set a pref as "use now and return to my defaults after this print job is completed".
As you have found out, there is no way of changing paper size from the Print Preview screen. Other prefs - Margins & Header/Footer can be changed via Page Setup and you can see changes in the Preview window, but not for paper size. As ''CoryMH'' mentioned, '''paper size''' is selected thru what called the "native print dialog" box using the '''Properties''' button which shows a window provided by your printer software for the Printer which is selected in the "native print dialog" window, and accessed after you hit the Print button in the Print Preview screen.
Problem is that you can't '''"preview"''' what is going to be printed when you change paper size. If you go back to Print Preview without printing from the "native print dialog" the change for Paper Size isn't saved for viewing in Print Preview!
IMO, it would be nice if Firefox recognized each "tray" as a separate printer, so that a user could set Margins & Header/Footer prefs AND paper size per tray. IOW, a feature sort of writing a completely new print module that would reflect "today's" environment with multiple tray printers; rather than to continue using the print module that was built by Netscape back in '94 - '95, which we are stuck with almost 20 years later.

  • Color Printing on High Gloss Paper

I'm using an HP Photosmart Premium  All in One (C309a). I am printing a camouflage pattern, with a lot of color on top of color, using high gloss transfer paper. The variations in color are getting lost on the high gloss although it prints out just fine on regular paper.
I'm using the Best quality option and have tried both the HP Premium Plus Photo Paper setting as well as Glossy Greeting Card. I've also tried printing with both the RLT photo fix setting on and off.  No luck.
I haven't played around with other, more advanced, settings because I'm not familiar with them and I'm tired of wasting paper ($$). Any suggestions?

Okay. I'm not currently a blonde but apparently old habits die hard :0
In my frustration I failed to check the ink level of my photo black, which I rarely use. I'm fairly certain a new cartridge is going to solve my problem.
Sorry to have wasted anybody's time.

  • Printing won't start at top of paper, starts at mid point with header in correct place at top.

I am using Firefox 3.6.17 (tried Firefox 4 and went back to 3 several weeks ago) on a Vista laptop computer. Yesterday printing changed from normal to: the headers appear correctly on the page, but the primary part of the page or email message starts at the vertical middle of the page, continuing as half pages until printing finishes. Not only does this waste paper but the appearance is poor. My printer is a Canon Pixima IP90 but the same problem is evident if I print to PDF via Adobe Acrobat 8 standard or PDF Converter Professional. The printing function is fine with other applications (such as Word Perfect).

  • 'Print on both sides of paper' in Adobe Reader 10.1.2 + DFS shares....

    Hello
After the latest update a new print dialog is available which includes the option to 'Print on both sides of the paper'. Our printer (available via a print server in a Windows domain environment), is capable of printing duplexed copies of documents but is configured to default to not use duplex. When the option to do this from the Adobe Reader print dialog is selected the printer driver overides it and the document is printed normally (not duplexed).
Is there a way to hide this option? We often need to print duplexed copies of documents but usually set it in the print driver when it is needed. Because the option is being overidden it has the potential to create an enormous amount of wasted paper and toner and will increase our printing costs.
Also, when V10 was released, trying to open pdf's located in DFS share paths caused the program to hang. The solution was to disable protected mode. I tried enabling protected mode after this update (and previous updates), and restarted the application but instead of hanging, Adobe Reader now displays a message box stating:
There was an error opening this document. Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
If I disable protected mode and restart Adobe Reader the document can be opened.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Shatik
    Thanks for replying.
The DFS shares are mapped as a network drive. This is done just once using a batch file that uses the persistent switch. No roaming profiles, no username\application data path.
Since posting this I can now access PDF's, but many of our staff are now unable to scroll through an entire pdf without Adobe Reader hanging. Again, removing the checkmark in the protected mode option allows full scrolling of a pdf.
Disabling/enabling antivirus real-time scanning makes no difference.
