Watch 3D on projector through iMac

Can I somehow watch 3D movies on my 3D projector (Benq W1300) thorugh my iMac (late 2013)? I haven't been able to so far.

The Mac has no software on it that can play 3D videos in the most common formats, and none that can handle a 3D Blu-Ray disk. The only 3D player I've ever found is ATK Player, and it only works with 3D videos in red-cyan, green-magenta or amber-blue mode, not teh formats current feature films use. It's possible that there would be a Windows player you could use and boot your Mac to Windows via Boot Camp, but I'm not certain.
You can get 3D Blu-ray players under $100, and the Windows players I can find cost that much or more, so just getting a 3D Blu-Ray player is probably your most time and cost-effective option.
Regards.

  • What is the best way watch video streamed to my iMac on my TV?

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to watch video streamed to my iMac on my TV.  Or to watch a dvd inserted in my iMac on my TV.
My iMac has a Thunderbolt port (among other things).
My TV has HDMI inputs as well as a digital optical sound input.
I'd like to know the best way to do this both wired and wirelessly.  (And if it would make sense to use an Apple TV
    Thanks for your help!

An option is to buy a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI adapter, or a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4241
Apart from that, you can get an Apple TV and stream the computer to the Apple TV through AirPlay Mirroring > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404

  • How can I get an amazon prime movie to show up on a projector through my phone?

I am trying to get a movie to play on a projector through my iphone using Amazon Prime. The phone screen will show up until I turn on Amazon Prime and then it goes gray. A message appears telling me that I have to disable Air Play.

Update the Amazon Instant Video app, I suspect the version installed is an older version that does not support AirPlay.

You could connect a FireWire Blu-Ray drive and use non-Apple player software.

  • Can I watch TV on an Intel iMac?

Has anyone been able to watch TV on their Intel iMac successfully? If so what hardware was used?

    craba,
Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
To add to Jason's post. I'm using the Miglia TV Mini on my 1.25GHz iMac G4 and it works really really well. It must be a dream on an iMac ICD. The EyeTV Hybrid looks like the best all-rounder right now.
The EyeTV 2 software shipped with the above products is Universal.

It seems to me, as a non-techy person, that you have told me what to do but not how.  That's what I mean.  For example, I don't know how to "re-input each preference" or how to "create another user account (call it TEST Account) and temporarily create the same mail account". I didn't set it up originally so I am really starting from the very beginning.  It is probably too much to ask of this forum.

    Hello Boris73
Try deleting the tracks from your iTunes library and then downloading them again to test the playback. If it continues, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • Share internet connection through iMac with Time Capsule

I have a scenario at work where I need to temporarily set another router as the DHCP server. I have a customer who has a typical office setup. They have an iMac which is plugged into a time capsule (TC). A network printer is also plugged into the same time capsule. I have had to move the WAN modem to where the wifi router is located in another room. The office needs to be able to connect to the new WIFI network while still having the network printer work. If I setup TC to "join another network" and put into bridge mode, I can no longer communicate with network printer. Can I choose "share internet" in OSX system preferences> Sharing on iMac, connect wirelessly through iMac and have TC function as a simple network switch somehow while being able to communicate with printer.
    Thanks

First, before I get into too much detail: Is it even possible to set up a WPA2 network directly from the iMac without a separate router?
    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Despite the fact that WPA2 encryption has existed for years, Apple hasn't seen fit to include that option in its "Internet sharing" feature.

  • Imac not detecting projector through bnc cable

I can not get the imac to output the resolution needed for the projectors. I need a way to force the imac to output 1280 x 800 to the VGA display. We have numerous locations where this is an issue. We do not have the luxury of running straight VGA cables to the projectors, thus the imac can not recognize the projectors. Please advise, how to make the imac function fluidly without detecting the projector.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    You might try capturing the projector's EDID with this device and then using it to notify the iMac to what display device it is connected;

UPDATE - On closer look I see that this device appears to be DVI only. I have searched the developer's site but cannot find a similar device for VGA. Perhaps a phone call to the developer would alert you to a solution.

  • Watching Apple TV on an iMac

I am willing to buy an Apple TV device in order to download HD rentals from iTunes, but I don't own a TV set--I watch television through eyeTV on my iMac.
So here's my question: Is it possible to use Apple TV on an iMac only?
I'm using an updated 24" Alum Intel machine.

the answer to your question is no... but like others i'm not really understanding why you want to do, what you are doing. appleTV is for viewing stuff on your computer on your TV but you're view everything though your computer so why do you need an appleTV?
yes you can't rent HD movies from the iMac, but on a little 24" inch screen at reasonable viewing distance you're not going to be able to see much difference between SD and HD anyway if at all (HD is going to make a difference at 40" plus). you even have the appleTV interface (version 1) through frontRow if you want... you have access to everything and more compared to the appleTV except HD rentals and those aren't going to be necessary given your screen size. so imho, given your situation i don't think you really need an appleTV.

  • Apple TV for watching photos and videos from IMAC

I am considering purchasing Apple TV 40GB for streaming photos and videos from my IMAC to TV on demand. Is that use case supported well by Apple TV or they are secondary and watching movies and TV shows from Itunes library are the primary use cases? I looked up Apple's page on Apple TV but it does not even talk about watching home videos using Apple TV.
Through posts on this forum and other places, I found that I would have to "export" video in either large or medium format. The question is how is the quality of watching that video using ATV over wireless N network?
Related question is how good is ATV's video card?
Is this a common use cases many people use ATV for? I have recorded lot of videos using Sony mini-DV camcorder but don't end up watching because creating DVD and keeping organized DVD library is a cumbersome process.
The other question I have is about usability of Apple remote. I don't have Iphone or Ipod touch with the remote app. Is the Apple remote good enough for playing videos, photos and occassionaly music?
    Thanks in advance,
    DJ

Thanks. A couple of follow-up questions:
    1) All I need to do to stream is to have Itunes running, right? In other words, I don't need to go to IMAC to initiate streaming. Is there a way to wake up the IMAC if it is in standby mode?
You need imac running with itunes open, and both it an AppleTV connected to the local network.
I don't think it'll work with computer in standby mode.
    2) I am planning to use Imovie's built-in export function. Is that good enough or do I need other softwares mentioned here (MPEGStreamclip or Handbrake)? Where do I get these softwares? Are they significantly better than Imovie's export function?
Both are free one from squared5.com, the other you can Google. iMovie's output may well be fine, but I have found in the past that standard export settings didn't give me best results and better could be achieved either using custom export settings from iMovie or using other apps, some of which can be a bit quicker. You will also be able to use the Handbrake app to make Appletv compatible video of your home made non-commercial DVDs (without menus).
Quality is pretty much in the eye of the beholder so if imovie does the job no reason not to use it.
    3) I have noticed that video quality on my IMAC is not as good as that of same video on DVD created using iDVD. Have 50 inch Plasma TV with up-conversion DVD player. Maybe the graphics card of my IMAC is not as good. I am bringing this up because someone mentioned that quality of video using ATV would be as good as the one seen on IMAC.
Any upscaling done on the DVD player is altering the original content to give a potentially more pleasing image though not adding any real information.
The DVD is likely to be of lower quality (though perhaps barely perceptible if conversion is good) than your source video on the iMac, and any differences are likely to be down to the DVD player vs software playback on the iMac, coupled potentially with scaling and frame interpolation on the TV depending on how the set processes incoming video.
I think it's impossible to say how you'd find AppleTV compared to DVD for playback of your home video though I think the majority of people are more than happy when things have been encoded well.

  • MY IMAC is from mi-2011; it should have the air play recopie video : I can not see it on my mac but air play is wirking only for audio; I can not watch the screen of my Imac on my TV Why?

My Imac should be able to get the recopie video via Air play because it is from Mid 2011.

No way for us to know for sure (without similar product/issues) but the
HP Support site suggests that with the current Mavericks OS X 10.9.x
their drivers should be available through Apple Software Updates:

However that may be limited to certain models of printers or scanners that
already had been known to be working under OS X as of that date in a
prior OS X (such as 10.8.5, 10.7.5, 10.6.8, etc) with earlier product support.

    sites as Gimp; though unlikely to be available with Mavericks, or Yosemite}

PS: edit to add... there was a Gutenprint driver reference for T65 Printer here:
Mac OS X 10.5: Included printer drivers
Yet a driver for ancient Leopard 10.5.x may not be suitable for Mavericks 10.9.x
but the Gutenprint lead may be helpful to locate whatever may exist; or not.

I have a Windows XP PC with Bonjour. I have an HP Officejet 6200 hooked to new intel/imac via USB running OSX 10.4.8 I can print from imac no problem. I installed Bonjour on windows xp PC. Bonjour configures print que no problem and I see the printers in the printers and faxes window on XP. I print and nothing happens. The app sends it into the clouds - you dont see it in any of the print queues?? please help
I also tried to print from the imac to the HP when it was connected to the windows XP machine but only garbledy gook came out. I understand that is some sort of GIMP thing thats why I am trying to print from the Windows PC through the iMAC

    Closely related problems - driver.
Print queues on the Mac expect to receive postscript as input. Change driver on the PC to a color postscript driver, like Apple Color LaserWriter xx.
