Watch and record HDTV to imac

Ok, so i have a few questions that are quite extensive.
First I want to watch HDTV on my imac and want to know what ways I can do that?
I have directv and wanted to know if I could watch directvHD on my imac record it and then edit that footage maybe send to imovie or FCE4 and then make a DVD of different recordings using Toast 9, (I already have toast and FCE 4).
What do I need to do that?
Or my other option would be to get an EyeTV product the hybrid or the 250 or whichever one I need to watch hDTV record it and do the same with export it and editing it.
What do I need to do that besides the eyeTV product?
My questions are getting convoluted in my head, but basically I want to watch HDTV on my imac, record HDTV, edit my recordings, merge recordings to make a movie, and burn it to DVD using Toast 9 which can record HD to regular DVd.
Let me know, any help is greatly appreciated.

Providing the programs are Mac compatible then there isn't a problem. Although your purchased versions may be for Win and thus there in lies the problem.
In addition with it being Mac you cannot watch Blu-Ray which means you won't be able to watch HD Hollywood blockbusters. However I am uncertain as to whether you simply meant HDTV footage you created. You still need more explanation but I hope that throws some light onto things?
Bootcamp allows you to use programs designed for Windows and the setup for this is pretty minimal and encouraged by Apple.

How do you watch and record a live h.264 stream at the same time using fmis and FMLE?

I've read all the similar post but could not find a solution that actually works, and please no "just use the dvr or record on the FMLE suggestions" as neither will work for me.
Some posts I've read suggest naming the stream in the FMLE to something like mp4:mystream.mp4 or mp4:mystream.f4v but then you can no longer view the stream, and according my the admin console the stream will not even publish using this syntax.
I can view the published stream if I name the FMLE stream to something like mystream.mp4 or just mystream, but then it doesn't record at all or records as a FLV file depending on how I code the main.asc file.
Here's one version of my main.asc, this one correctly publishes the live stream after the client triggers the joinStreams function but will not record it.

    Subscriber Settings:

Playing VOD H.264 file:
     Subscriber settings:
          Server URI : "rtmp://myServer/myApp"
          Stream name: if file name is "sample", use "mp4:sample", if file name is sample.f4v, use "mp4:sample.f4v"

For DVR (Record-in-progress stream)
If you are using FMLE and want to use "Record" option of FMLE then you need to have to dvrcast_origin application and subscrier needs to FLVPlayback 2.5 component
If you want to use that option, do let me know i will give details later.
For now we will use simple server-side code and FMLE as publisher.

Watch and record Freeview HD using BT Vision?

I was told by BT that BT Vision supports Freeview HD and I can record Freeview HD. However, posts on this forum do not tally with what I was told.
Is anyone able to confirm that this is the case?

The current box can't deal with Freeview HD only downloadable HD films.

Can't watch a programme and record at the same time.

I rang Sky who say it's nothing to do with them. Gave me Lovedigital number. Rang them they said contact my landlord. Rang Bristol City Council, they say it's nothing to do with them.

What I meant is the number of cables going into your Sky box. If there is only one cable going to your Sky box, that answers the question of why you can't watch one thing and record another at the same time - your Sky + box would require two inputs to do that. From what you've said it sounds like a communal dish set up. If that is right then whoever looks after that are the people you need to contact to see about the possibility of getting a double feed into your home.

I have recently purchased an i5 27 inch Imac with 8gb ram, will this be enough to run logic studio and record vocals?

I have recently stretched my budget as far as I can and have purchased my first Imac! I am really excited about getting it , its an i5 2.7ghz and i went for the 8gb ram upgrade. My question is will this be enough to run logic studio to produce music and record vocals?
If you have a similar setup please le me know how it runs for you. I would also like to hear about the average number of plugins you can run and any other tip to get the most out of your processor.
Logic Studio will be the only big program running on it, I plan to get a blue icicle converter and a blue condenser microphone for vocal recording so I hope the Imac is up to the task!

You should have no problem at all. That iMac is more than capable of running Logic.

Watching TV recorded with Eye TV Hybrid on a TV via DVD player

Hello, I need a little help. I have found out on other threads how to take a TV show recorded on my iMac via Eye TV Hybrid and export it to iDVD and burn a DVD to watch on my TV. I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and what the quality is on your TV? Is it comparable to recording a show with your VCR, or is it all pixally?
Also, if anyone has a better way of getting the recorded shows to DVD for TV viewing I am all ears.

Any of the new Macs for home - iMac or MacBook Pro are even fine. You don't need a 65lb workstation tower. If you want a tower for how well and long they hold up, and can be upgraded, that is another matter and fine and might be overkill at first.
Even the base Mac Pro will get you there.

Record HDTV from cable box

I have an EyeTV 250 which I have used for years to record (using the EyeTV software) the analog signal my cable system (TWC) provided. The cable company recently switched to all-digital, but provided digital-to-analog converters to anyone who didn't have a set-top box. I ran the analog signal from the DTA into my EyeTV, and all worked as before. Now I want to record HDTV. The DTA has an HDMI output as well as the analog output. What do I need to complete the task? Elgato no longer sells this type of equipment in the US, and frankly, i'm not even sure what (if any?) equipment I need.

How to create a VI that detects and records responses from user

Does anyone has experience in creating a VI that allows the user to e.g., watch a video or series of images, pause or rewind video etc. and the VI records the duration of all pauses or user responses.

To add to Jason's post. I'm using the Miglia TV Mini on my 1.25GHz iMac G4 and it works really really well. It must be a dream on an iMac ICD. The EyeTV Hybrid looks like the best all-rounder right now.
The EyeTV 2 software shipped with the above products is Universal.

Apart from that, you can get an Apple TV and stream the computer to the Apple TV through AirPlay Mirroring > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404

SWF Preview and recording audio

In Captivate 6, I inserted a recording slide in my project without narration. Now, I need to record the audio to the slide. When I open the audio recording window and check the box to enable the SWF preview, the preview begins playing automatically, making it impossible for me to record the audio in sync with the demonstration. I watched a tutorial of a gentleman using this feature, and his playback did not begin playing until his recording began. Is there a setting that configured improperly that I can't find, or something else? Thank you!

No, as far as I know it isn't possible to accomplish what you
are wanting. Not if you simply imported the PowerPoint and went
from there. You might try this approach if you are using Captivate
3. Set PowerPoint up to play in a window and adjust the size to
what you wish to see in Captivate. Then launch Captivate and record
using the full motion option. The full motion option was improved
in Captivate 3 so as to accommodate longer recordings.

{I also had this problem a couple of weeks ago. I recorded video on my iphone 4s and there was no sound on playback, but when I synced the video to my MBP, the audio was there. I was surprised I couldn't find the answer on the internet. I found some postings where people said to stick a pin in the hole next to the microphone, and they swore that worked. But, that sounded a little dangerous to try on my new iphone4s.
So I finally went to the genius bar and asked them. It turned out that the volume buttons on the side of the iphone are set differently for each of the built-in apps that use it. So while I had the volume set comfortably for cell phone use, it turned out that it was set to zero for video playback within the Camera app.
As a former user interface designer, it's perplexing to me that the volume buttons DO NOT universally apply to all the apps on the iPhone. You'd think the Apple manuals or website would tell users, but I couldn't find this in any of their documentation online.}
