Watch Photo's on a TV

I guess there are a few ways to take photo's and see them on a TV. some that I have used are:
1. Import into iMovie, add titles, transitions, music, etc., and then use iDVD.
2. Bring photo's directly into iDVD
My DVD player says it reads Video CD's so I gather that I can bring photo's into Toast and burn a VCD. Is that right?
I have seen new DVD players that have a "jpeg viewer." Does that mean I can simply drag photo's onto a CD-R and burn them?
I have a lot of old photo's that we want to be able to just scroll through on a TV without all of the effort of using iMovie or iDVD. What are our options?

Hi Lauren,
many recommend here to let iDVD render stills, because of better quality.... so your method 2) produces maybe better results...
VideoCDs have a much smaller resolution then DVDs (about a quarter); I would recommend to produce SVCD (yepp, S as super), normally, a DVDplayer which is able to handle VCD accepts SVCD too... SVCD is some inbetween in quality between VCD and DVD....
jepg viewer: you need to burn a "ISO 9660 compatible" disk with toast; simply drag your pics onto Toast; BEWARE: just 8digits, no %üß$§" special signs in file names.... (GrafikKonverter has a nice batch tool for renaming files, should be preinstalled on your Mac); I'm not sure about the resolution which are allowed... make a test or ask the manual...
hope I could help!

  • Problems watching Photos

    Hi everyone.
I have problems watching my photo. I open the photo App and after suddenly the Ipad reboots. The battery is not the problem because is full charged. Does someone knows what to do?

    Try these steps.
    Basic Troubleshooting
These are basic steps you can try if apps suddenly quit on you or if the your IPad starts to behave erratically. Quite often these simple fixes will resolve your issue.
Quit the app by double tapping the home button to bring up the multitasking/recents tray at the bottom, hold down on any of the app icons in the tray until all the icons wiggle, then tap the minus sign in the corner to quit the offending app or apps. Try your app again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad until the red slider appears, then slide to the right to power off the iPad. Turn the iPad on again by pressing the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Once the iPad has fully rebooted, find your app, and tap the icon to relaunch.
Try a hard reset by pressing and holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad while holding down on the home button at the bottom, until the Apple logo appears and the iPad restarts. Launch the app again and see what happens.

  • OVi Suite 2.0 problem - Watching Photos/Music usin...

    Hi,
I have a problem trying to create watch folders for my OVI Suite.
I'm trying to add watch folders for my photos and music (all which are in an external HDD) and whenever i try and select a folder from my external HDD it won't let me click on 'OK'.
I'm trying to get my music and audio synced into my Nokia N97 (with Firmware v1.2). But i am sure that is not an issue, as i tried doing this with the phone unplugged.
So does anyone have any ideas why it's not lettigin me add watch folders from my external HDD?
I have OVI Suite v2.0.1.35 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

    Hi,
Yes, unfortunately this is functionality. In the short term I can have the design changed so that you will get instructions or a message of some kind explaining the situation, but the actual problem cannot be fixed that quickly.
    Cheers,
    Teemu
Well, it's been over a year and it doesn't look it's been changed (and no instructions or message, either, that I could see). Anyone have an update on this? My music folder is over 12 gb and I had ot move it off to an external hard drive because my computer was nearly out of room.

  • Apple TV for watching photos and videos from IMAC

I am considering purchasing Apple TV 40GB for streaming photos and videos from my IMAC to TV on demand. Is that use case supported well by Apple TV or they are secondary and watching movies and TV shows from Itunes library are the primary use cases? I looked up Apple's page on Apple TV but it does not even talk about watching home videos using Apple TV.
Through posts on this forum and other places, I found that I would have to "export" video in either large or medium format. The question is how is the quality of watching that video using ATV over wireless N network?
Related question is how good is ATV's video card?
Is this a common use cases many people use ATV for? I have recorded lot of videos using Sony mini-DV camcorder but don't end up watching because creating DVD and keeping organized DVD library is a cumbersome process.
The other question I have is about usability of Apple remote. I don't have Iphone or Ipod touch with the remote app. Is the Apple remote good enough for playing videos, photos and occassionaly music?
    Thanks in advance,
    DJ

Thanks. A couple of follow-up questions:
    1) All I need to do to stream is to have Itunes running, right? In other words, I don't need to go to IMAC to initiate streaming. Is there a way to wake up the IMAC if it is in standby mode?
You need imac running with itunes open, and both it an AppleTV connected to the local network.
I don't think it'll work with computer in standby mode.
    2) I am planning to use Imovie's built-in export function. Is that good enough or do I need other softwares mentioned here (MPEGStreamclip or Handbrake)? Where do I get these softwares? Are they significantly better than Imovie's export function?
Both are free one from squared5.com, the other you can Google. iMovie's output may well be fine, but I have found in the past that standard export settings didn't give me best results and better could be achieved either using custom export settings from iMovie or using other apps, some of which can be a bit quicker. You will also be able to use the Handbrake app to make Appletv compatible video of your home made non-commercial DVDs (without menus).
Quality is pretty much in the eye of the beholder so if imovie does the job no reason not to use it.
    3) I have noticed that video quality on my IMAC is not as good as that of same video on DVD created using iDVD. Have 50 inch Plasma TV with up-conversion DVD player. Maybe the graphics card of my IMAC is not as good. I am bringing this up because someone mentioned that quality of video using ATV would be as good as the one seen on IMAC.
Any upscaling done on the DVD player is altering the original content to give a potentially more pleasing image though not adding any real information.
The DVD is likely to be of lower quality (though perhaps barely perceptible if conversion is good) than your source video on the iMac, and any differences are likely to be down to the DVD player vs software playback on the iMac, coupled potentially with scaling and frame interpolation on the TV depending on how the set processes incoming video.
I think it's impossible to say how you'd find AppleTV compared to DVD for playback of your home video though I think the majority of people are more than happy when things have been encoded well.

  • Freezing when watching photo cd

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro 13, Feb 2012 version. It is pretty quick but everytime i insert a photo cd and try to browse through the photos on it my mac downloads a few photos but then the dreaded wheel comes and the cd stops spinning. it stops downloading photos and i have to restart my mac to eject the cd.
Does anyone else experience the same problem? Is it my mac or is it the cd?

I watched a couple of episodes of modern family, better off Ted w/o issue.
Watched several episodes of soap through netflix w/o issue.
Try deleting the apps from the device and iTunes-redownload.
Have you watched any video from iTunes or YouTube?

  • Watching photos on tv via apple tv?

Can I view my photos through my tv via the apple tv

    YES you can!
Turn your TV into an HD photo album.
With Apple TV, every megapixel of every photo looks amazing. Big, bold, and in glorious HD: It’s the treatment your digital life deserves. So instead of huddling around a computer screen, you and your friends can relive memories from a comfy spot in your living room. Or add some life to the party with a photo slideshow. Select an album, pick a slideshow theme, and finish it off with a soundtrack featuring music from your iTunes library.
With AirPlay You can stream from a Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Also the update of my (german) weather app seems not to be possible anymore - the data download is not starting...
Can someone help me with these issues?
    Best

    Hi Heikschmi,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the camera and app updates in your Flame device, after receiving an update from the manufacturer, T2M.
Are you having issues updating other applications as well? What about recording videos in the camera app?
After reading the information provided about your issue I suggest a soft reset of the phone.
#Take the back cover of the phone off.
    #Take the battery out.
#Take the SIM card and microSD card out (if applicable).
    #Wait 10 seconds.
#Put the SIM card and microSD card back in (if applicable).
    #Put the battery back in.
#Put the back cover back on.
    #Turn the device on.
#Check if the issue you were having is still present.
You may also try uninstalling and reinstalling the weather application. Please report back to us if this solved your problem!

  • Watching photos and video on tv

I have the cables necessary to link my MacBook to my Samsung HD TV. When "hooked up" I get the OS 10.5 Leopard desktop "stary" screen on the TV and nothing more. I can't get iPhoto or iDVD on the TV screen. Help?

Probably you should ask in the Leopard forum, or perhaps the MacBook forum.
But the first thing to check is your Display settings in System Preferences--they may be set so that the additional screen is an extension of your laptop screen rather than a mirror of it. Your description sounds like that might be the case.
You'll have to have the TV hooked up for the right panel to show up in Displays (or the F7 key rotates through the options, I think).

  • Photo Magico Slide Show on my Sony Bravia via MBP

    Hello,
before you all get upset: I have searched the forum already but I couldn't find the correct answer. I would like to connect my MBP to my 40 inch Sony Bravia to watch photo slide shows from Photo Magico.
Waht is the best connection not to loose any quality? I think whatever I will do it will never get to the TV as good as it is on my MBP. In other words: The use of HDMI connection is not really necessary?
    Thanks

What you have is an extended desktop.  If you move the mouse cursor off the edge of the MBP's screen you will see it appear on the TV.  Similarly you can drag windows from the MBP's screen to the TV.  At present the MBP's screen is the primary display and shows the menu bar and dock, and the TV is the secondary display.  To change this go into System Preferences -> Displays -> Arrangement.  You will see an image of two screens, a smaller one representing the MBP's display and a larger one representing the external display.  At the top of the smaller screen in the image is a bar, this represents the menu bar at the top of the screen.  Drag it from the smaller screen to the larger screen.  The external display will become the primary display and the menu bar and dock will appear there and any new windows or applications that you open subsequently will appear there too.
davscanlon's suggestion to use mirroring will work, but you won't be using the native resolution of the TV which could result in fuzziness or bluriness of the image on the TV.

  • Syncing photos to iPod makes my iTunes crash

I just bought my 4G Nano(Third-Generation) a week ago. It works fine at music.
But everytime i try to sync my photos to iPod my iTunes crash.
I put all my photos into one directory (5MB, 110pics, all low res picture), then start sync them in iTunes.
When the process bar comes to one certain place it stopped, then few minutes later iTunes crash.
Then the tray shows windows message like "coudn't write I:/"(I'm using a chinse version of XP), sometimes iTunes shows could't transfer too.
But there's still 32 photos tranfered, and available to watch them on iPod.
I tried sync some other photos again later, this time the as soon as I started to sync photos, iTunes crashed, then the "coudn't write I:/" message.
I tried again with 5 some other photos, it transfered 2 only, and the same thing comes up, iTunes crashed, the "coudn't write I:/" message.
So, anybody cam help with a solution? It will be perfect to watch photos on my iPod :\

Well, after my fifth try, it worked out.
I just randomly pick out 48 pisc that i liked from my 110 pics. (which are all batting pictures of Albert Pujols. Then it just worked)
No carsh, and less than 1 minutes. (2MB only)
But I won't call this answered, maybe this'll happen a lot in future, I just get lucky this time.
I've search the forum and knowing that VITSA has the problem with syncing photos crashs system, but I'm using XP, not many syncing photo problem in XP beeing seen after my search.
So i'm still very curious what cause this, anyone knows?
And anyone has the same issue i get, please reply.

  • Front Row: background music is gone while viewing Photos

    Hi,
I was trying to change background music about 2 weeks ago and felt succeeded in it. Since then Front Row with Photos was not used. Unfortunately today I figured out that music does not play anymore. Even selecting another music folder in iPhoto for event does not help:
+It works in iPhoto once Play button is clicked but does not produce desired effect in Front Row for the same Photos.+
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Todv, that's the problem . I don't really remember how did that before. Honestly this is my first month of experience working with OS X.
Initially my MBP was delivered with everything preinstalled. Front Row worked fine with Added photos. I didn't even create any Slideshows. Unfortunately only one specific track was played all the time what drove me crazy. Then somehow I changed the song (don't even remember how exactly). It worked. Didn't use Front Row for about 2 weeks and recently decided to watch photos with my girlfriend but... music stopped playing.

  • Cannot stream music while displaying photos

I noticed that when I'm on the main menu screen on my Apple TV, I can start streaming music to it through AirTunes from my MacBook. However, as soon as I open Photos / My Photos, and select an album to start browsing through my photo collection, the music streaming stops. When I try to re-connect from my MacBook, I get an error saying that "The remote speaker Apple TV is currently being used by someone else. Please select another speaker from the menu at the bottom of the iTunes window." When I exit photos, I can start streaming again.
This is rather annoying, as I would like to listen to AirTunes at the same time as I'm viewing my photos. I have not set up my Apple TV to play any music while doing so, so there should be no conflict. Is there a workaround for this?

I don't believe you can use the tv for anything else while using it as remote speakers for airtunes (including watching photos)
Your options would be to have the tv play music itself while watching photos (seems much more straight forward to play music and photos from one place than one from the tv and one from your mac)
    or
Set the screensaver to slideshow and allow it to engage while streaming music from your mac via airtunes.

  • Streaming Photos from Windows PC

I would like to stream photos from a Windows PC to an AppleTV. From this Apple article -- http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306467 - it sounds like I need PhotoShop Elements for Windows (as well as iTunes for Windows). Is this true? Do I need extra Windows software?
Does streaming of photos to an AppleTV work well with a Windows PC?
    Rob

Thanks Chenks. The main reason I asked this question is to figure out whether I should buy an AppleTV in the first place. Costco has them on sale. (I didn't want to spend another $100 on Photoshop Elements).
I have a Mac where all my music is stored and a PC where all my photos are stored. I can't move the photos to my Mac without getting an external drive which I do not want to do. Since I will likely use the AppleTV to listen to music more often than watching photos, I want to sync my Mac to the AppleTV and stream my photos from my PC.
After doing some searching online, I discovered that the free Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition does work with the AppleTV. It looks like at one time you did need Photoshop Elements or Album to sync or stream photos with the AppleTV. You might not need it now.
I will find out whether I can stream my photos from my PC to the AppleTV WITHOUT Photoshop Elements or Album since I just bought an AppleTV from Costco. If I do, I will use the free PhotoShop Album Starter Edition -- (see http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/starter.html )

  • I just got a Zen Micro Photo!

Because it had FM receiver and recorder, photo and 8GBs - but it's the biggest mistake I made.
I learn about new songs thru the radio and so it's critical to have a radio handy.
However, the zen keeps shutting off the music whenever I watch photos... this means no team music while you watch sports photos... no wedding songs while you watch wedding photos... no theme music while you watch graduation photos, etc.
I shoulda gotten a iPod Nano!

I won't rub it in. We learn and grow from our mistakes.
But here's my solution to the radio dilemma. I'm a huge fan of two radio shows: Prairie Home Companion and the local weekly Jazz Scene both of which are available as internet feeds. I record them as mp3 files and sync them to my iPod.
Maybe you can eBay your Zen?
