Watch tv episodes downloaded ti iPad on TV

I can't find a definitive answer to this. I want to download TV episodes and connect iPad to my large screen HDTV. One of the techs at the Apple store said neither the VGA or the other adaptervkit will work because the iPad is no equipped to do it. Has anyone tried this and why would Apple sell adapters unless they spell out the use limits?

??? Why would this Tech guy at the apple store say this?
I have the VGA adapter for iPad from Apple and connect this to my HDTV and watch all the TV episodes I have purchased from iTunes store, both the ones downloaded to iTunes on computer and the ones purchased and downloaded to the iPad. The only difference though is to do with HD shows, note below.
The only ones I cannot play with the VGA adapter for iPad is the protected movies and TV shows in HD, and this is to do with the HDCP.
For this I use the Composite Cable from Apple instead of the VGA Adapter for iPad.
note the apple document about this under Additional info; If you look at the bottom of this page under additional info, it mentions about the problem with HDCP. note the link below

  • IPad and watching tv episodes

I just got an iPad and am still in a learning curve.  Is it possible to watch tv episodes on an iPad?  I have had trouble with it as I just go to CBS.com but cannot play episodes, however I can watch them on my iPod touch.  Any ideas?

If CBS.com uses Flash, you won't be able to view them on an iPad. Look in the App store to see CBS has an app in the App Store. Many networks do. The PBS one is particularly good. You can also view television shows using Hulu+ or Netflix (subscription) or buy purchasing them from the iTunes Store.

  • New iPad 2 user needs help watching TV episode

I am  a brand new iPad 2 user and have downloaded a free TV episode to my iPad.  I can't find it to watch it though.  I can only seem to pull up a 30 second preview, even though it says that the full episode is downloaded.  How do I watch the full episode.  I should add that I am only a very basic iTunes user as well on my PC.

Downloaded and synced films and TV shows go into the Videos app :
The iTunes app on the iPad is just the iTunes store

  • HT1657 if i want to watch a movie on my ipad do i have to order the movie from itunes from my ipad or can i download it from my desktop then sync my ipad

i want to watch a rented movie on my ipad while I am travelling.  Do I have to download the movie from itunes from my ipad or do I access itunes from my desktop then just sync my ipad to watch the movie on my ipad?

Yes that is correct. However there is one slight difference with rented content, in that you need to transfer it to your iPad rather than simply sync. You can do this by selecting the rental in iTunes from the left hand side of the iTunes window and choosing the transfer option.
Yes it will be transferred to the video app on your iPad.

  • Bought a TV season and only some episodes downloaded where remaining had "download error" on iPad 1

Bought a TV season and only some episodes downloaded where remaining had "download error" on iPad 1? Tried many times for few days with no use. Tried restarting too. Device has enough memory too!

Because of the error message, I'm not sure if any of this will work, but I suppose it's worth a shot.
Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to resume the downloads.
If the TV shows appear at all in the videos app - did you try tapping and holding down on the icons to see if the X to delete pops up? Is there any evidence of the stalled downloads on the iPad in the videos app? If you could delte them, you might be able to resume the downloads.
If you live in the U.S., Canada, The UK or Australia, TV shows can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID.

  • HT1725 I purchased an episode of the tv show Hannibal. Attempted download. Said download was completed yet received only a 30 second trailer of the episode. Tried 4 times, used 5GB data and still don't have the episode on my iPad.

I purchased an episode of the tv show Hannibal. Paid, downloaded to iPad but received only the 30 second trailer for that episode. Attempted 3 more times, used up 5GB of my monthly data allowance and still continued to get nothing but the trailer.

How to watch live cricket matches in ipad.....should we download any apps....someone please help...

The iPad does not use Flash so you will have to search for a TV app or an app that will stream the content that you want to watch. I have apps stream live content. WatchESPN and CNN are two apps that stream live content. You just have to start searching. Use a Google search for starters.

I purchased tv episodes on apple tv and had to delete the episodes to make room for me to be able to download other stuff.  Now I want to watch those episodes I already paid for again.  How do I re-download those episodes to my apple tv without being charged again?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Assuming you are in a location that supports re-downloading of TV shows, you can download any purchased TV shows from the purchased option in the quick links section in the top right-hand corner of iTunes on your computer.

  • How do you stop itunes video download on ipad? No pause button appears. Won't stop downloading, over and over again.

I purchased a tv episode on my ipad. It started to download, after an hour it gave an error message. The episode appeared in videos, I watched it. Then I discovered it was still downloading. It gets up to the end, then starts all over again. Nothing I do will stop it. There is no pause button, nothing happens when I swipe it. I've tried everything, turning off, signing out of appleid, it basically eats up my bandwith nonstop and I can no longer use my ipad. How do I get this thing to stop downloading?

to the right by search library theres an arrow there click on it : it will show you what it is downloading , from there you can pause and select all and delete them but still will continue to download them if you tell itunes to check for downloads. that download engien is crazy i tell yeah.
no matter what we do it will still download them trust me i tryed everything and i also went to icloud to see if it was there but to what i see is that there is no apps there this is some crazy itune program that needs to remade.

  • Is there a way to get a TV episode from my iPad to my MacBook?

This was the first time I've ever downloaded video content from iTunes. I decided to buy it via my iPad 2 and download it there.
Everything worked smoothly. But now I can't figure out how to back it up on my MacBook. I thought it would happen automatically when I synced, but it didn't. From what I'm seeing, it looks like performing a sync in iTunes will just wipe out the episode on the iPad entirely, in favor of the zero episodes on my MacBook. Do I really need to buy third-party software?
Any thoughts? Should I just chalk this up to a learning experience and let this episode go once I can buy it on DVD next year? Any third-party software recommendations? (Note that my MacBook is several years old and cannot run Mac-based apps.)
I'd like to download more episodes, but I don't want to do anything until I get a handle on what's best. (And my apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere in the community. I've done searches for keywords then scrolled through several screens, though, and I've found nothing. I've also checked two iPad 2 books. Nothing seems to address this situation.)
    Thanks!

Crazily enough, as soon as I posted my message, a helpful link popped up on the right-hand side that led me to a different discussion that also referred to the transfer-purchases option. Why didn't that show up when I was searching for a solution in the first place???
Thank you so much for confirming. I'll check it out next time I sync. (Given how user-friendly Apple products are, I couldn't imagine that you'd  need third-party software for something so basic. That's all I was seeing in Google searches earlier this week. I should've come straight to this forum!)

  • Purchased movies say "watch" instead of "download."

Recently, after deleting a movie from my iPad Air, I would try to download the same movie, but the only option is the "watch" option. I have the settings to show only downloaded movies, not all movies. I can download the movie if I change the setting to show all movies. My problem is, I would like to download the SD version of the movie instead of the HD version. I've tried to search in iTunes, choose the movie and select the SD version, but it only shows WATCH. Why does my iPad think the movies are still on my device?

    Hello there, aandrewjulie.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up how to choose SD content for sync and download to your iOS device:
iTunes Store: Viewing and downloading HD content on iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4095
If you prefer to sync SD video content to iPad:
With iPad connected to your computer, select it on the left side of the iTunes window.
    Click the Summary Tab.
Scroll down to the Options section and select the checkbox for "Prefer standard definition videos."
Now when you sync videos to iPad, only SD versions will be synced.
To undo your change, simply repeat the above steps and uncheck the box next to "Prefer standard definition videos."
If you don't sync using your computer then the following article provides the optiosn for doing this directly from your iPad:
iTunes: Sync purchased HD videos to iPod or iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4223
Download previously purchased content in a lower resolution
The easiest way to put purchased videos onto your device is to download the videos from iTunes in the Cloud. This should make sure that you get the highest resolution video optimized for your specific device. Learn more about downloading from iTunes in the Cloud.
Syncing video to iPhone 3G or earlier, iPod touch (1st or 2nd generation), iPod classic, iPod 5th generation, or iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation)
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. You can download the latest version for free here.
    Open iTunes on your computer.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Navigate to your Purchased page. Find it by clicking Movies or TV Shows from the top navigation bar in the iTunes Store, and then click Purchased from "QUICK LINKS" in the iTunes Store.
Choose the appropriate video type: Movies or TV Shows.
In the lower-right corner of the screen, deselect the box next to "Download HD When Available."
Search for the desired video and click the download button.
This should download the standard definition version to your computer so you can sync to your device.

  • HT201335 Will AirPlay mirroring work for watching TV episodes from the Internet?

Will AirPlay mirroring work for watching TV episodes from a television network's website that we have up on the iPad/iPhone/computer or is it just for iTunes?
We're contemplating canceling our cable and using Apple TV solely.  if it will do that, it sounds like a good option for us.

If your Mac is 2011 or newer and you install OS X Mountain Lion on it, you will be able to mirror your screen to the AppleTV. DVD playback won´t work.
    Airplay Mirroring compatible Macs:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
    More info: http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
As for your iOS devices it depends on the player app being used to play the video. Some players will let you stream the video to your AppleTV others won't. For example, the YouTube player will allow it, but the Netflix player won`t.
