Watched folders and network mapped drives

Using watched folders feature, If I select one of my network mapped drives, PSE7 display a message saying the path is wrong :

You gave us no details on how your clients are configured.
If you are runnning Windows clients, then you need to enable machine authentication ON THE WIRELESS CLIENT and on ACS. Since you are using TLS, you also need to have a machine certificate on the computer.
Machine authentication will allow the wireless computer to connect to the wireless network BEFORE the user logs on. In this way, login scripts and drive mappings will take place the same way they would with a wired connection.
I believe you can search Cisco.com for an article that talks about the ACS and client settings for machine auth.

Watch Folders and Network Drives

Hello,
I'm trying to find a solution to this and it's driving me crazy. I would like to use a network drive as a watch folder in PSE. I have PSE3 and am curious if this has been fixed in PSE4 (which removes the network drive after you add it, which is very annoying).
I'm curious if anyone has gotten this to work through either using an NT domain account for the file service or any other solutions.
Any ideas?

Well I finally figured out a way to get this working, but it's truly a pain. I moved all my machines into a domain and ran the "Adobe Active File Monitor" service under a domain account that has permissions on all shares I want to watch.
It doesn't seem to work with mapped drives - instead you have to go in through the network neighborhood, but it does work. At that point you can have PSE watch folders pick up changes on a network share.

this will help you a little:
File f [] = File.listRoots (): returns all the drives: the local && Remote ones
to list directories & files you do something similar: File f2 = f[0].listFiles ();
check on file/fir: f2[0].isDirecoty() or f2[0].isFile()
Tip:
You probably were planning on reading all files and directories and then showing them. If you did, DON'T. It will take forever! Just list the roots, if a root is selected list it's directories & files, if a directory is selected list it's subdirectories & files and so. Also try creating a DirectoryListener which is active when the directory's contents is visible and which will relist it's contents when it's contents is changed.

Photoshop CC Files and Webdav - mapped drive

Are photoshop files webdav compliant? - we have a document management system and when we save via webdav and a mapped drive it is not versioning the file.

Well, here's an interesting bit of information. I sort-of got versioning working. I used PhotoShop CS6, Mac OS X Mavericks, CyberDuck, Alfresco, WebDAV.
Usually what I would do is go through Adobe Drive CC (which uses CMIS protocol) to log into Alfresco. This works but is at times super slow, and Alfresco no-longer sees previews when I "Check-In" an updated file because the mimetype is somehow lost.
This morning I used CyberDuck (via WebDAV protocol) and logged into Alfresco. CyberDuck has an "edit" button for a file. Clicking it downloads the file (although it didn't "check-out" the file) and opened it up in Photoshop. Every edit I made and clicked save automatically uploaded a new .version number. So if the file version was 2.0, clicking save would make it 2.1.
Some differences I noticed:
Adobe Drive: CMIS
CyberDuck: WebDAV
AD = "Check-In" asks for commit message
CD = just acts as a "Save As" and asks to overwrite the file
AD = "Allows Comments"
CD = I couldn't find any way to comment
AD = versions to a major version number 2.0 -> 3.0
CD = versions to a minor version number 2.0 -> 2.1
AD = will "check-out" a file, effectively locking it
CD = didn't seem to lock the file at all
Additional:
I only tried it briefly this morning, I hadn't tried with any of the other CS6/CC apps. I don't know if Illustrator or InDesign would have issues with linked files using the CyberDuck WebDav approach. Also, I only used CyberDuck as I saw it has WebDAV support from a Google search (wasn't very thorough in my research on this - so plenty of room for improvement).
I really love the concept of Adobe Drive w/ Alfresco and version controlling. But for the love of God why is Adobe Drive so much slower than WebDAV in simple things like even navigating folders in Mac Finder or Windows Explorer?!? It hangs the entire system! This is why I'm looking into WebDAV.

In your application servers' oracle_home\forms90 there is a file named "formsweb.cfg" configure that file with all parameters and application path also.

My network mapped drives dissappear

My network mapped drives dissappear when my system wake's up from sleep mode... Have to relog everytime for it.. Is there any solution that my network drives are not dismounted when system is waked up?

It's simple:
- Mount you maped drive
- Go to System Preferences/Users and Groups
- Select your account
- Click on "Login elements" tab on the right
- Drag the mape drive icon inside the list

Windows 7 64bit indexing network mapped drive

I've spent a lot of time with windows indexing on mapped drive. But without result. I've tried install hotfix, but nothing happens, Add-in works only for 32bit system, but I use 64bit. Using of symbolic link in library is without result too. I don't know,
why MS released add-in only for 32bit. Could you help me, how to solve this problem?

Here is what I have done...I have zipped up and attached below under Attachments, the raw smbus controller driver files for you to unzip and manually install.
Download and unzip the file.
Go to the device manager and click on the smbus controller needing drivers. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install. Then reboot.
Ethernet: Download and install the 1st driver on the list.

Acrobat Security Updates kill Distiller Watched Folders and Font Locations

We are finding that the usual security and other updates for
Acrobat Professional Version 7 and above are causing the Distiller
to lose specific custom settings in Watched Folders and Font
Locations. Does anyone else encounter these problems? If so, does
Adobe know about this? It's quite inconvenient, especially if you
have set up custom Distiller profiles for 50 plus machines.

Watch folders and meta from folder structure?

Hi,
New to XMP, but I'm looking to impliment a DAM across a marketing department split into two teams - remote but on the same network.
We have c70gb of av material from the last 15 years.
1. Is it possible to "watch" a network folders for new / edited files?
2. Can metadata be collected from the existing folder structure? I.e, for the last 15 years descriptive folder names have been used in an attempt to organise things - ergo these folder names include project names etc. Is it possible to pull these folder names out, and put them into keywords in the meta?

Hi, Thanks for the reply.I have 2 shared folders set up - 1 for each user and have given permission for each user to have full access to their own personal folder.There are our family photos on the public folders and each user has placed their own files/photos/videos etc in their personal folder.User 1 is using WDMycloud on an android phone - can see their own private folder and the public folder. All the photos are in the shared folder. All the private documents are in User 1 folder.When using the app, User 1 can go to 'Public' and see the public photos, but:When selecting 'View by date' some of the thumbnails that are on the folder are from user 1s secure folder. When user 1 opens the folder, they can see public photos in the thumbnails. However, some thumbnails are displaying images from the private folder and when they click on these, they open up an image in from the public folder.When selecting ' view by album, only 1 folder appears (in this case the folder created in the private folder for backing up images from camera)When selecting 'View all photos' only a specific group of photos from a folder on the public pictures opens.User 2 is using WDMyphoto (I think) on ios. User 2 is able to see thumbnails and images from user 1s private folder. I have tried several things to stop this happening - setting up each private folder as accessible by only the named user.Checking user permissions to ensure they have no access to each other's folders in both 'user' and 'shares' settings. I have restarted the WDMycloud and devices connecting to it, but am still having these problems. I will try to rebuild the database to see if that is any use. Any further advice would be much appreciated! File share, network mapped drives

Simple network. One Server and two clients. For a year the network was great. File shares operated perfectly. Last Tuesday windows automatically downloaded and installed security updates and the network connectivity went down.
I have discovered that if the firewalls are turned off the mapped drives will connect. When the firewalls are turned back on the mapped drives drop and communication goes bye bye. I have tried so many things. Adding new rules, opening ports
and still the network will fail when the firewalls are turned back on. If anyone has any suggestions I need help. The OS on the server is Windows Server 2008, the clients are running Windows 7 professional. The only other software on the
pc's is AVG business security edition. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank You.

Coldfusion Cannot Detect Network Mapping Drive

I am using CFdirectory tag and want to use mapped drive in
the directory attribute. and ColdFusion is unable to detect the
mapped drive.
Coldfusion is running as a System service.
My question is how can i create a mapped drive , so that
Coldfusion can detect it.

Starting from Win2003 (or it happened earlier?), drives are
mapped per user (info kept in user profiles). Therefore, if you
mapped a network path to a logical drive, as, let's say,
Administrator, the service running under another account cannot see
it. Options:
1. Run service under specific account.
2. Use UNC convention: \\server\share\path

Time machine and network Lacie drive

Hi,
I have an network Lacie drive (1GB) that I just connected to my local network. I started the time machine, and after a few minutes I get this error message:
"The backup disk image "/Volumes/openshare/Peter Lauri's MacBook.sparsebundle" could not be created (error 45)."
Anything I can do about this? Anyone that has a Time Machine setup working with Lacie drive or other network drive?

yes, they are. supported are the devices that are officially supported by apple and are guaranteed by apple to work for TM backups. that btw includes working now and also in the future after any possible updates to time machine. anything else you may want to use for TM backups apple makes no promises about. if you run into problems with such devices- you are on your own as far as apple is concerned.
now, all that said, there are a few 3rd party NAS devices that came out relatively recently (that includes your Lacie NAS) that claim to support TM backups. they have no blessings from apple to say such things but TM does seem to work and work quite well with such devices. for example, I don't think I've heard any complaints about problems with your Lacie NAS model as a TM drive.
so that's how things stand. AFAIK, the reason why some NASes work and others don't with TM are mostly technical and have to do with whether or not a particular NAS model implements all the features of afp that TM needs to work correctly.

Probems with msi 875p neo Fis2r and network controller driver

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my msi 875p neo FIS2R and problems with the network controller driver/network card.
I'm running xp on a computer my nextdoor neighbour gave me. I got it working fine with service pack 3 installed but then installed a bunch of windows updates last night and the computer would switch itself off before windows could start. Now I reinstalled xp and unfortunately it does not recognise the network controller/card at all now. I tried installing the intel network controller drivers but it stopped because it said no intel adapter/card was installed/present. Could anyone please help with suggestions? I tried running everest and under newtwork it doesnt list intel network adapters but I'm pretty certain it is. Again any suggestions?
