WatchESPN app stutters / speeds up

Hi --
I'm running Apple TV connected to Time Warner provided wireless. My router clocks in a 30 mbps down ad 5 mbps up, verified through speed tests.
When I watch ESPN through the Apple TV app, it is pretty finicky. I experience some of the following problems:
From time to time, the audio remains constant, but the video speeds up to double or triple the normal speed. After a few seconds, the video freezes, and everything catches up.
Other times, the video feed pauses & buffers, much like a YouTube video when your bandwidth is too limited.
I started trying this with 15mbps down / 1mbps up, and before upgrading, there was no difference. I don't think the difficulty is in my bandwidth?
Any ideas?

If you have playback issues with a content provider's services
In most cases, you can isolate playback issues to your home network, your broadband connection, or a possible outage with a content provider. To see if your issue is affecting multiple services or a specific content provider, try another service. For example, play a movie trailer from the main menu.
If the issue is affecting multiple services on your Apple TV, see how to troubleshoot playback performance.
If the issue is affecting a single content provider on your Apple TV, restart your Apple TV by going to Settings > General > Restart. If the issue continues, you might need to contact the content provider.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

WatchESPN app won't work on Android since update, Can login fine on a Computer/Tablet??

I’m having problems getting the WatchESPN app to work on my Droid Maxx (4.4.4) since I last downloaded the update on Jan 23rd 2015.
I can log into WatchESPN on my home computer and tablet just fine. I have a Comcast account and username (TV & Internet) that allows me to watch events live.
I called ESPN and unistalled the app, cleared the data and cache, rebooted and reinstalled the app many times. Still doesn’t allow me to watch any games. I’ve call Verizon about the issue and they are confused and are no help.
Each time the app tries to load the event/video and I get the error message “Unfortunately, WatchESPN has stopped”
Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. I’d like to reach the IT team at Verizon.

Also add "reset my cable provider login password" to the list…tried to trick it into allowing me to put in my ID/Password, but it still just pushed me through and didn't allow that to happen…it still validates my access rights, but doesn't allow certain content to play…extremely frustrating...

Full screen app switch speed

It seems that after upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I use four fingers to switch between full screen apps, the speed became so much slower (or maybe with more precision?) and this really bugs me as I often switch back and forth a lot, and it also seems no one has brought this issue to Apple's attention yet. I believe there MUST be something that I can do to change this. Hopefully.

Thanks for the heads up. I would have never thought of Google Drive causing the issue.
I looked into the Google Drive issue and found a temporary fix that allows me to still use Google Drive on my desktop.
MrPiv, on a post from yesterday, concluded that if you disable the Show file sync status icons and right click menu it'll solve the problem and you can still keep Google Drive open.
I did so, and it worked beautifully. Thanks, actionmarker, for leading me to search issues with Google Drive, and MrPiv, for the fix via preference options.

WatchESPN app stopped working

The WatchESPN app on my iPad stopped working two days ago. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this did not help. It will start but when I select a channel to view it just sits indicating it is loading but does not stream the show. I found this is also happening to the TimeWarner Cable app. Is this some sort of caching issue?

I am having the same problem also for the last 4 days.

Watchespn app not working

I open the watchespn app then log in with comcast id and password then try to watch live sports. The app attempts to open stream then the closes completely. Is anyone else having this problem?

Downgrade Fios TV to Select... still use WatchESPN app?

I am currently a Prime subscriber.
If I downgrade to Select, (with no ESPN) will I still be able to use the watchESPN app on my ipad and iphone, since I am still a Fios customer?

You can still use Watch ESPN. You need to have Verizon internet service to watch ESPN. I have Fios Local and internet and can watch ESPN 3 games on xbox or iPhone.

WatchESPN app sound issues

When I stream the watchespn app on AirPlay I only get video with no sounds. Any suggestions? I have made sure it is mot muted and it still does not play sound.

Need apps: BEST speed dialer favorite, BEST video viewer, BEST list maker..

Need apps: BEST speed dialer favorite (I have to turn on/off and reset hourly to get email so I can't keep favorites in my phone area), BEST video viewer (short form or longer form) AND BEST list maker that allows sync with online component (so I can keep a list on iPhone and/or online when not on iPhone).

Ah yeah I know that. I am asking users on this board what they consider the "BEST" in a specific category. The app store is not very user friendly (too many clicks), plus the categories are vague and contain a mish-mosh of stuffs. I have downloaded several apps (free and paid) for other needs—but really would like suggestions on those I have yet to download.
BTW your response was rather lame and not very helpful.

Hi all, waiting for my 4S to arrive, hopefully by Friday so they say, but I am thinking of getting the WatchESPN app and my question is this:
Are there any charges from vzw for using this app beside data consumption. I plan on only use it when connected to wifi but don't want to pay any other charges for it. I know that NFL Moblie app is free but to watch any games on it, it cost you $10 a month. Apprecate any help and you all have a great day.

if you only use it on wifi then there are no additional fees. HOWEVER, read the finae print as it is only available if you have one of three particular cable providers (brighthouse, time warner cable, or verizon broadband or FIOS). VERY few people can actually use the app because of this. it's lame. since i have cox cable, i can't access it. comcast is a no go as well. REALLY weak on the part of espn.
Unfortunately this seems to be the trend for a lot of the network apps made available. I'm STILL waiting for my provider to be available with HBOGo and a few others.

This looks a lot like code. The app worked fine previously and all the sudden this happened. I'm having similar issues with sites on safari.

Why App Store Speed is very slow on Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display?

I'm facing few problems on my Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display in terms of Net Speed.
I live in Delhi, India. I have 8 MBPS Broadband Plan. I have a Windows PC too at my home and Galaxy S2 Smart Phone. Both gives an awesome speed of around 7 to 8 MBPS Easily.
But my Macbook Pro never gives a speed in App Store. It takes lot's of time to download Apps or Updates.

I'm using Airtel DNS as my connection is Airtel.

EVERYONE is downloading that update right now - whenever I received a Developer Seed notice, it would take hours for me to download the new beta release, becasue so many others were downloading at the same time. Usually that little 840MB combo update would start out at 5 hours or so and then successfully download in 2-3 hours. So you're just going to have to be patient on this one.
If the Mac App Store is slow on other files, however - say you're downloading EverNote for the first time - then I would contact the MAS support folks - http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.
The 10.8.3 download is just going to be slow, however, because people all over the world are downloading it and there are just so many Apple servers and just so many copies of those files on the server.
So, on this one, just take a big breath and relax!

App download speed

The speed of downloading an app has been GREATLY increased. Before 2.1 an app typically took 1 to 2 minutes to install, now it's less than 30 seconds. And so far my battery life seems better, too. Nice work and keep improving it Apple -- copy/paste, landscape keyboard, voice dialing, video, numeric battery life meter etc. etc.

It's not the App Stoore....
Lion requires a broadband (highspeed) internet connection. It will never download on the connection you are currently using. Lion is a 4GB file. Takes about 35 to 40 minutes on broadband.
An alternative would be to purchase the thumb drive > OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive - Apple Store
The thumb drive will be more convenient if you have to reinstall the Mac OS X or repair the startup disk. The only other way is to use Lion Recovery (online) and that won't work with your internet connection.
Make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements;
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available spare

Apps opening speeds

Having moved over to the intel iMac I'm bedevilled with slow opening speeds for Safari, Photoshop, Freehand etc.
And once opened there is an increase in crashes.
Is this common? Did Apple rush this product out? Will things get better without my having to buy another Mac?

Try Repairing Permissions;
Go to Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility. In the left pane highlight your OS X Startup volume (your hard drive) and in the lower right section press Repair Disk Permissions.
BTW, apps like Photoshop and Freehand run in emulation through Rosetta and we were warned when these Macs were introduced that they would not run at native speeds until the 3rd party companies issued their apps in Universal binary code.
